He will also summon demons though out the fight. There are archers in the towers and the walls fire quickly. Beneath the wall are two rooms with shaman in them. Clear those rooms before accepting the quest and take Zulu in.

Clear the 2 sleeping dragons in the courtyard and the shaman inside the room.

Start the quest, everyone move into the room except the tank.

Pull the boss into the room and tank it.

He'll do a nasty AoE and open portals, after 30s or so the portal's will spawn a giant Pitlord. These hit pretty hard but can be feared.

The strategy my group came up with is actually quite brilliant, and I guarantee it will work if you do it correctly.

Step 1) Clear both of the Enslaved Nether Drakes in the area.
Step 2) Clear both rooms left and right of the Shamans inside of them.
Step 3) Have your group's tank initiate the fight by accepting the quest, and then quickly run over to where Zuluhed Spawns
Step 4) While Zuluhed is talking, everyone else in the group move into the room that you cleared FIRST.
Step 5) As soon as Zuluhed stops talking, have the tank attack him and then move him into the room where you begin to DPS.
Step 6) DPS Him hard and move out of his Rain of Fire. When he spawns a Demon Portal, everyone in the entire group run as fast as you can into the other room, have your main tank run out first so that he takes all of the gunfire from the archers.
Step 7) Once he's in the next room, the demon will spawn from the portal in the previous room, but will NOT aggro your group because he isn't near you anymore. DPS hard on him at this point because soon he will create another portal, and this time you will have nowhere to run to.
Step 8) Once he's at low health, he'll turn into a big demon, but he's still easymode, just DPS his down, and you'll be fine.
Step 9) Loot the key, and unlock the ball and chain around Karynaku's leg.
Step 10) Talk to her, and then you get to ride on a bigass dragon all the way back to your sweet quest rewards!

He's not too hard himself, not a huge amount of HP, and he doesn't hit the tank for a lot. Pulling him inside the room helps a lot, although we had the Shamans respawn on us so make sure you kill them just before you do it. The big demon thing he summons will stand outside, only problem we had was the archers still shooting me (the priest) through the roof/walls. Anyway we 4 manned it fairly easily with a priest, druid, hunter and mage.

I had already completed this quest but came back to help some friends kill Zuluhed. But it turns out we didn't have to kill him at all this time around because I still had Zuluhed's key!

Although all five party members can loot the key, only one has to use it on the shackle for the group to get credit. That means the other four people can still free Karynaku later on.

But it should be noted that the event starts as soon as someone starts the quest. So have that person start the quest while everyone else either stands far away or on a flying mount watching Zuluhed run out and kill the quest starter. It won't say the quest fails, so as long as everyone (except the keyholder) has it in their quest book, they will get credit.

Kite him out from arena, then archers can't hit you or yours party members, so it will be easy with a 5 man group. Clear the place, before start so no repop.

Although Arcticwolf's strategy works extremely well, the following strategy works just as well, but doable with only 2 players:

1. Clear all mobs from the front Enslaved Netherwing Drakes to the room on your right (assuming you are facing East on your map), the following room after that (not the room on the left!), the room upstairs, the patroller on the bridge, and the Dragonmaw Drake-Rider at the end of the bridge.

2. Have the tank start the quest for initial aggro. Once Zuluhed spawns, have the tank pull him immediately to the room on the right.

3. Let the tank build aggro while the other person just heals him (or the tank heals himself if he is a Paladin).

4. When Zuluhed opens the first Demon Portal, run into the next room. The demon will spawn but will not aggro. Now, start DPSing.

5. When the second Demon Portal is opened, run to the middle of the bridge. By this time the archers will have despawned. Do not stand in the upstairs room. When I did, there seemed to be a vertical check and the demon aggro'd onto me.

6. You should be able to DPS Zuluhed down by now, but in case you reach the third portal, move to the end of the bridge where you killed the Dragonmaw Drake-Rider.

7. Profit!

Tips: I did this strategy with a Mage (I'm a Paladin). If you are a Paladin, having 3 points in Imp. Righteous Fury and having mana pots on you is really helpful. Constantly throw in some Judgements and Holy Shock (Holy Spec is probably a must) to build aggro, but don't do it too much so that you are draining your mana or losing too much health. And heals do more aggro than you think with Righteous Fury on. Zuluhed does a Rain of Fire. The tank should just move away from it if possible, but it can be healed through. A mage can Fire Ward to absorb some of the damage if the Rain of Fire is on them. When Zuluhed gets low on HP, he'll enrage and do more damage, so be careful. Also, if the Mage went high on threat, he would just use Invisibility and wipe his aggro. The mod KTM Threat Meters helped a lot to watch aggro. Also, start the fight as quickly as you can after you killed the trash mobs, so you can avoid any respawns that occur. Lastly, I put Greater Blessing of Salvation on the Mage and Greater Blessing of Wisdom on myself.

Consumables used: The Mage and I both used an Adept's Elixir (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28103), and I used Oronok's Tuber of Healing (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30357). These two items can easily be replaced with mana pots or Lay on Hands (I did not have to use either of them during the battle).

I imagine this strategy could be done with a Warrior-Paladin, Warrior-Priest, or any combination of classes that can properly hold aggro, DPS, tank, and heal.

If one of your group members have already completed the quest and is working on his Netherwing reputation, they're not going to be able to assist you, since they will be transformed into an orc once they're in Dragonmaw Fortress. This will make Zuluhed friendly to them, so unless they're just there to heal, they won't be able to hit him.

Was surprised to be able to do this earlier with only a rogue, mage, hunter, warlock - no healer at all, pretty much no tank (a hunter pet tanked for the first few seconds), and in mostly blues (except for the rogue, but we were all pretty close damage-wise). Almost no strategy required - you can just pull it into the room and burn it so fast that it doesn't get a chance to do much of anything.

I would just like to re-iterate the fact that if someone is over Neutral rep with the Netherwing that won't be able to attack Zuluhed.

They can however attack the elites he summons , use bandages and healing spells to support the party, and lead the party by instructing them when to move and what not

Whats the procedure for accepting this quest? If only one person can accept and start it, how do other members of t he group take the quest? Is it like an escort quest where it asks if you wish to accept?

Reason i ask is that i accepted and failed to kill Zulhed the first time, then on a rerun i was unable to loot him, even though i had the quest in my log. So still no key. It was an ad hoc group and it disbanded after this try. Should i abandon the quest, or hold on to it for the next group try?

Duo with rogue and resto druid.

1. Clear out two dragon guards
2. Clear out the right room first, as well as the upper level
3. Clear out the left room.
4. Start quest and pull the boss to the right room upper level. You may aggro a shaman, kill it.
5. When the first red portal is summoned pull the boss half way down the stairs, keep killing.
6. When the second portal is summoned pull the boss to the first room on the right side, keep killing.
7. When the third portal is summoned pull the boss to the left room, keep killing.
8. At this point the boss should be around 20% if not dead. However if you need more time you can pull the boss under the bridge where the archers spawn.

It is very simple once you get the hang of it. Big problem is mana so bring a pot or two. Hope it helps, good luck.

Tried twice (and succeeded once) tonight, and the add was following Zuluhed around. Yes, through the doorway, up the stairs, into the upper room.

Did it as a prot warrior with a resto shaman and a hunter a few minutes ago. We didn't manage to dps him down inside the two rooms, but I dragged him out and through the archway, managing to drop los of the archers. He did drop another portal, but I just tanked that mob while the hunter killed zuluhed (already had a huge threat lead on him).

3 Manned, Prot Warr, Holy Priest, and Combat Sword Rogue (me).

We cleared everything, accepted the quest and and brought him into the building. Whenever he did the dark portal thing, we switched buildings. He spawned a lot of adds that i had to take care of, and did some nasty AoE, but it took us like 20 minutes. Me and the warrior have both killed Gruul only ONCE, and the priest had been to SSC, first boss.

I'm now exalted with the Netherwing and obviously instantly get the Orc disguise when I go onto the island or into the fortress sort of near the field on the main land.

The problem I have now - I cant seem to help people complete this quest any more? Because i get the disguise straight away they're all friendly too me, incluing Zuluhed. I couldn't seem to remove the disguise (setting to at war made no difference either)

Any ideas?

I was in a group for this quest today, and we had to do it twice because myself and another person never got a pop up message to accept the quest. The second time, I ran out and personally accepted the quest to be safe. By then the room had respawned, but we still managed to clear and take down Zuluhed easily without needing to run to the other room. Also every person had to loot and use their own key to get quest credit.

Two points of advice for those trying to do this quest:

1. Everyone talk to the dragon to start the event, not just one player.

2. Don't talk to the dragon until you are ready to start the event.

1. Everyone in your party must start the quest!! You all need to click on the dragon to start the quest. Tank should click on dragon and then run to where Zuluhed spawns, but all other party members also need to do click.

This is apparently the only quest in WoW where you don't get the message "Player X is starting Zuluhed the Whacked. Do you want to start also?" My group did this last night - several players started the quest, while the others waited in the doorway to the room on the right. We burned down Zuluhead and the Shamans, then the demon without a problem, except that then I couldn't loot the key as I never started the quest.

What makes this quest in particular even more annoying is that once the other players turned in their quest, they could no longer help me finish. Many of my guildmates have finished the quest, and they too can no longer help me complete it. No one in my group knew this - they went to get their loot and then came back to help me, only to find out that they can't attack Zuluhed. They can attack the demon that spawns, and they can throw heals, but they cannot tank Zuluhed. I'm a holy priest, so not an ideal choice for tanking.

(Why in the world being neutral with the Netherwing would keep you from attacking their Orc oppressors is beyond me as well, but let's not even start there on the lack of logic in this element of the quest chain).

2. Don't talk to the dragon until you are ready to start, and have cleared the rooms.

As, as soon as you talk to the dragon, it starts the event. This is completely unlike most of the other Warcraft Quests. Up until now, you would turn in a quest, and then take a quest that said something like "talk to me again when you are ready to go". Blizzard continued this group logic in the Burning Crusade Expansion - it's not only the old Azeroth word quests that do this. That is how the Thrall quest works in the Escape from Durnholde chain, as well as quests like saving the night elf from Jaedenar in Felwood, or the Onyxia attunement chain where you have to escort the Marshal from the prison cell area. Those quests and others like them ALL notify the other party members that one of the party is starting the quest and allow you to choose to start the event as well. Except, of course, this one.

One of our party members thought this quest worked like all the others, and then we wiped as our tank wasn't there yet. I know I've been in groups where someone didn't talk to Thrall or didn't talk to Marshall to turn in the previous quest and then get the escort quest that resulted in the "?" mark above the questgiver, so I can't blame the player - it's how Blizzard has implemented every other quest. Except that then they changed it for this one quest. and made it so the players who do take the quest and finish it can't help anyone else out.

Anyways, enough ranting. Key message here is to follow the advice given in this thread, but make sure EVERYONE TALKS TO THE DRAGON TO START THE QUEST. Even if you have to run out into the hail of arrows from the archers, talk to the dragon! Or you'll be like me - now looking for the last few people on my server that haven't already done this.

Did the quest just now (after the 2.2 patch) without a propper tank. Party was
2xWarlock
2xHunter
Paladin
and an out-of-party Shadow Priest helping out. Some general info:
- If you are a healer and have done this already, you can still help out while under the Dragonmaw illusion
- A propper tank is not really required, as he melee's cloth for barely 1.5K. We used dual-hunter pets with MD's to tank him. Worked gold.
- The summoned demons are tough. They melee harder than him and are immune to crowd controll (including banish). Arcticwolf's "move away" tactic worked great and he was dead before he summoned the second portal. Some shaman respawns were had, but were squishy enough to easily dispatch with our DPS-heavy group.
Hope it helps those of you hurting for a tank.
P.S. We had to do it twice so the out-of-party shadow priest could also complete the "Kill Zuluhed" part. Went a lot smoother the second time around.

I admit that this quest can be confusing, but you advice is somewhat misleading.

When you turn in the quest Karynaku (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10858) you are offered the quest Zuluhed the Wacked. Taking this quest also spawns the demon.

The best approach is to turn in the previous quest at Karynaku to get the Zuluhed the Wacked quest in your log, but ignore the spawned demon. When you group is ready and everybody have the quest the tank can then spawn the demon once more.

It was a ridiculously touch-and-go fight, mostly luck, and incredibly gear based... at the end, the pally was dead and I barely finished him off; I was left with ~400 hp. I'd recommend doing the quest with at least 3 people

I tried to complete it with 2 others.
Me being a Ele-shaman grouped with a Resto- and Feral-druid.
They had the Dragonmaw Illusion buff, so they couldn't attack any of the mobs, except the demon he summons.

It wasn't a problem though, the resto-druid was able to outheal it and we took it down, we just wasn't prepared for it.

3 manned today with a 70 holy pally, 70 affliction lock and 70 fury warrior. Just tank and spanked him in the right room, with only 2 add summoned in total. Warrior didnt use shield. Not a terribly hard fight.

Duo'd this today, 70 Prot Warrior (mostly Blue armour and a couple of greens) and Holy Priest (Some Season 1 and blue gear).

We cleared the buildings out first and dragged him upstairs. Once he spawned a portal, we moved him downstairs. He spawns the next portal and then we move across to the other building. The next portal we took him outside to the archway (no line of sight for the archers :) ) and on the next portal we took him a bit further out and round the corner and away from the last portal.. It was just a case of dragging him around and being far enough away from the last portal he spawned.

We ground him down with Prot spec DPS and SW:P the whole time :)

I soloed Zuluhed as Feral Druid.

Let's take a look at his abilities:

Melee - 200-400 on 35k armor (75% reduction)
Rain of Fire - It's instant, he can still attack you while RoF is active. Deals 900-1100 fire damage per tick (every 2sec).
Doom Portal - Spawns elite demon. Spawned demons do not aggro if you are away from them when they spawn.
Demon Form - At 20% he starts attacking faster but I didn't notice anything else. Continues to use Rain of Fire.

Fight will take 5 minutes so refresh your thorns. You can use some elixirs, food and pots for extra help.

Confirmed, you can have finished the quest and not have to worry about not being able to attack.

Interesting side note: Boomkins keep the illusion of an orc, while bear druids do not.

Soloed as a well geared prot paladin too. Hits for about 500-550 on 20k armor. I had 5 demons up so you'll run out of room to kite the rain of fire. Also all the trash respawned but consecration took care of them just fine. Took about 7-8 minutes total.

The strategy was identical to the video above.

Done with a BM Hunter (w/ kitty-tank) and Holy Priest.
(No potions used for either of us, buffs was stamina & spirit from the priest)
Started off by clearing the 2nd & 1st floor on the right, the two dragons, and then the left room.

Hunter took the quest first to get initial aggro, ran onto the 2nd floor to start the actual fight there. Make sure you run inside as soon as you've taken the quest. The archers can be nasty, but wont start firing until Zuluhed actually goes into combat.

Make sure to stay away from the doorway to avoid line of sight of the archers. Keep your pet on passive at all times and do the attacking & pulling back manually. You dont want him outside defending your honor against the archers or charging back into the rain of fire.

The fight on 2nd floor was brief for us but it added some extra time to our personal army of dragons to work their magic on the archers. A demon was spawned pretty quickly, so we moved down to the first floor's main room.
(If you stay in the stairs there's a big risk of the pet getting out of LoS for the healer (like standing on the rail will mess it up), so be safe and stay in the rooms.)

Fight on the 1st floor till demon portal time & then move over to the left room. Once the 3rd demon portal was up the archers were cleared by the dragons and we could move around outside freely. He got demonized and went down quickly.

So most importantly if you're using pets as tanks:
Keep your pet on passive and keep away from the stair case, cause it messes up LoS alot.

I was able to do this quest with me (Prot Pally), rogue and holy priest. He summoned 3 demons to help him which made it kind of hard. BTW we were not the best geared group either. 5 people may be needed if your all in greens, but if you have a few epics you should be fine.

I am able to solo this quest as a level 80 feral druid with mostly blue gears. I took the suggestion as above and cleared the rooms first. Then i started the quest and went into the side room to avoid the archers. Half way through the fight he opened a portal so I ran to other room.

I only needed one heal pot the whole fight and finished off Zuluhed with no outside help. Players with decent gear and can tank in some area may be able to solo this one. non tanking players can probably duo this with healer and high dps melee.

I did offer to share it with anyone who would need netherwing faction but no one responded. probably too early in the afternoon? If you are going to do this solo or duo, please be kind and offer those in Shadowmoon Vally a chance at it as well.

If you're trying your hand at this quest you should be aware that it seems that if you pull Zuluhed to the 2nd floor (left doorway entry) nowadays, he can release (probably due to me being lvl 76) - which means he runs back down and then de-spawns. His archers, however, stays.

Dropping and re-accepting the quest does not help, no Zuluhed will spawn. But you will probably make a nice target practice for the archers while making a run for Karynaku.

The archers de-spawn once you get out of combat with them (so you need to run off). Once the they have de-spawned you can re-accept the quest and Zuluhed spawns properly.

Finally, I completed this quest. Level 75 DK in quest greens and blues (in Blood Presence).

I'm 51 Blood and 15 Unholy, fyi.

As others have recommended, I cleared one bldg (I chose the one on the right) -- upstairs and downstairs. To start the battle I summoned a 2 minute ghoul to help, cast Mark of Blood on Zuluhed, and then went into my rotation. I'm a grand master herbalist, so the 2000hp HoT was helpful, and I also burned 1 regular healing pot (Super Healing). Otherwise, I was able to generate enough health off crits and Death Strike to endure the battle. Just before the end he was able to summon an Arcubus Destroyer, so as I finished off Zuluhed I had to immediately take care of the Arcubus. Though at times during the battle with Zuluhed I dropped to 30% hp or so, by the time I finished off both him and the Arcubus Destroyer I was at 100% hp. Was definitely nice to finally finish this on. I first tried at 70, then again at 72, then again at 75. 75 was the charm, probably because of the half-decent blues I have now from Utgarde and Nexus.

I actually solo'ed Zuluhed, following Arcticwolf's strategy (at level 80 of course). But you can avoid both giant demons. Start the fight outside, as soon as Zuluhed gets done speaking, pull him into the room on the left. When he summons his demon, run to the room on the right. And at the very end, run the the room with the stairs/ walkway thing in the back of the right room. The second demon won't aggro. Good Luck!

Guess I shouldve read before bragging about soloing it as an 80 Feral Druid.

I just pulled him into the right room to stay away from the archers and spanked him and the 2 elite demons he spawned. Blew CDs, and used one Spuer Healing potion. Zuluhed went down while the 2 demos were still up and I was getting awful low on health and had already potted so I looted the key quick just in case, but I took down both demons too ending with are 5% life.

Cleared the room to the right of where he spawns, spanked him hard in there with sacred shield on, healed a couple of times with instant cast art of war, he was dead just as he spawned a portal and nothing came out of it. 1) I cleaned 1 room and the upper floor near the boss and both drakes
2) I pulled boss into that room and did full dps on him i had (nearly 1,3 or 1,4k)
3) after mini-mageriton spawned i tanked him with Shadowfied
4) after killing main boss add is preety easy 4 every on who soloed group bosses in Northrend

try 2 pull boss as fast as you can cause archers deal enormous damage even 4 lvl 80
try 2 kill this boss as fast as you can or mobs you killed might respawn and add you some headache

If u failed 2 kill him from 1st try just remove the quest and take it ones more, boss shall immidiatly spawn

Solo'd with lvl 80 DK Hybrid with 17K health. Just be sure to kill the dragons outside and two guards inside the buildings. I did have my ghoul, was on blood, used Antimagical Shell, Death & Decay and Army of Dead, but that was overkill. He never even had the chance to spawn his demons or run to the other room. Had no need for potions or Rune tap. Easy!

After this, I was able to get to honored in one evening from saving netherwing eggs from previous quest runarounds. After this the dailies are a piece of cake =)

I just soloed this as a lvl 80 BM hunter.

1) Clear dragons and towers (shamans)
2) Activate quest
3) Get Zuluhed in one of the towers
4) Stay away from his aura while attacking him... for me pet stayed on him while i healed and i shooted a far (away from circle of damage)
5) When he summons the elite NPC, i headed onto the 2nd room where that NPC followed me... then i Feign death, called back my pet, and only Zuluhed came with the pet... not the NPC, who returned to the summoning portal in the other room.
6) Finished off Zuluhed and got quest complete :)

Just soloed this fight as a level 70 Prot Paladin. I expected it to be simple at first, so I just stood around. He spawned and I started taking heavy damage from archers, so I ran into a nearby building and aggroed some mobs (more mobs = more mana for a protadin). There I was fighting and noticed he spawned a big damn demon, so I high tailed it out, luckily the archers were then gone. I continually avoided the demons he spawned, there were 5 by the end of the fight. All in all, very fun!

I didn't think this was possible to solo as a hunter but I did it on the second try. Right as he spawns get aggro on him and pull him behind the doorway. Just kite him around out there. I DID almost die and used a potion but i didn't really plan it out at all.

Be warned that despite all the changes to the game, Blizzard have not yet fixed this poorly designed fight. If you stand close to the doors, the archers can still shoot you, despite you not being in line-of-sight.

If the persons in the group, that actually have the quest, die, Zuluhead will despawn immediately, but all summoned demons and other crap will remain for 20 minutes before despawning.

Zuluhead is also immune to fear, stun, interrupts, and any other ability that would be useful or make sense to use here (haven't seen anyone on here actually mentioning that). His demon summons are also instant, and cannot be interrupted.

But other than that, the only real skill required to beat him is to avoid the adds (they won't attack unless you're too close), keep beating on Zuluhead, and stay alive long enough that he dies first and you can loot the key before you die yourself.

Solo'ed as a 77 BM Hunter with a 76 Gorilla pet geared in BT/GH quest gear.

Before I triggered the quest, I prepared for the fight by clearing out the three groups of orc/drake that are on the other side of the gate where Zuluhed spawns. I also picked off the single patrolling orc that walks the long path from the bottom camp to said gate and back. Then, I quickly killed the two single drakes that are in front of Karynaku (the imprisoned drake where you start the quest).

I ate a Grilled Sculpin for the AP and STA boost as well as fed my pet a Sporeling Snack for additional STA and Spirit boosts. I gave the pet a Scroll of Spirit and myself a Scroll of Agility.

I got on my epic mount and then triggered the quest which immediately spawns Zuluhed. He doesn't nor can he be attacked for the first few seconds so I flew right by him, through the gate to the area I had cleared as mentioned above. When he finished talking, he ran out to me and I sent my pet to meet him.

Kept Bestial Wrath, Kill Command, Rapid Fire, Intimidation (plus +AP trinkets) up as much as I could. Obviously, keeping Mend Pet up is a huge must. When my pet got low, I boosted the healing with a Heavy Frostweave bandage.

Somewhere when Zuluhed reached around 50% health, two orc mages ran out to me. I simply used Feign Death and they went after my Gorilla (whose Thunderstomp + Misdirection kept them there).

The 68 Elite demon soon spawned after and that's when it became tricky to keep the pet's HP up. I was able to bandage him again a bit, but eventually he died when Zuluhed was down to about 3% HP. I used Kill Shot and Explosive Trap to kill him off, but I got smoked soon after by those two mage orcs and the 68 elite demon.

I simply rez'd and walked back to my corpse, looted Zuluhed for the key, flew over to the big ball & chain on Karynaku, released her and finished the quest.

I kept my HP up with Lifeblood as soon as it dipped below 70% then again with a Heavy Frostweave Bandage and finally with a healing pot.

I used Aspect of the DragonHawk until I ran outta mana from Mend Pend and all the special shots. After the mana from my mana pot ran out, I switch to Aspect of the Viper until I had enough to Mend Pet a few times and finish off Zuluhed.

Sometimes as a level 80 5 man quests from older content are hard. This one was a cake walk as a Death Knight. I didn't even use my Army of the Dead, and he was downed within about 30 or 40 seconds. He only had time to summon one add, and that despawned when he died. My gear is all solo faction gear, and purples off the AH.

I wonder how my Warlock would do soloing this, but I shall find out soon enough.

Solo'd as 80 Shadow Priest today. First time, I didn't expect the archers and they mowed me down quickly. It's a long walk back.

Second time, I cleared the two rooms first, triggered quest, and ran into room on right when facing Zuluhed. Plenty of time as he's monologuing. Inside the room, DPS him down keeping my shield up and an occasional heal. Portal opened before he was down, but focused on him and looted immediately. As soon as I had the key, I left the room running back toward Karynaku. I attemped to finish add (dragon) from the portal but went OOM while it was at 40% health. Better mana management on my part could have gotten there, but I was forced to jump off the ledge, levitate down to an open spot.

<Leaving Combat> before I hit the ground. Flew back to ledge, unlocked Karynaku and flew back for the turn in.

Solo'd as a geared level 80 Destro Warlock very easily. Just clear adds in the room next to him on the right as you look at the Zuluhed. Start the quest, then run in the room straight away. Didn't see any locks (LOL on edit other than the one posted right above me) posting solo so here is my experience. Affliction lock lvl 80 mostly lvl 200 purples and a few blues, but probably could be done with any lvl 80 gear and if your careful could be done much earlier than level 80. Zuluhed is not Terrok for those doing the skyguard rep quests. Terrok hurts me real bad.

Easy as pie just use the Arcticwolf strategy above.

I was working out a plan for this quest and mistakenly started it after talking to the chained dragon. For some reason I thought I would have to summon Zuluhed, he appears right after you talk to the chained dragon. Some ambassador rare spawn appeared so I dotted him and bang, now I got Zuluhed hitting me, a bunch of archers shooting at me and all the shamans still in both rooms. YUCK!

Luckily I did have the VW out and just ran into one of the rooms and dotted up Zuluhed. Go slow until you move to the other room. You can dish out a lot of damage and still not pull aggro. I never used soulshatter. Anyway, once he casts the portal, big red oval looking thing, pull the VW and yourself out of the fight and run to the other room. I picked up a few shamans, they went down easy, gave me added health with haunt. Once in the other room just nuke him down, again I didn't pull aggro with all dots and shadow bolts going at him. He turns into a big old demon just before he dies. Finished at max health.

Solo'ed Zuluhed as a 74 Ret Pally.

I was just equipped with a few Northrend Blues, and a few greens.

I followed the standard strategy, pulling him from the first room to the second.
With proper use of LoH, I didn't even have to bubble.

I was able to burn him down before he summoned the second demon, as he just turned into a demon himself.

Just be sure to stay out of his AoE spells

As a 72 blood elf retribution paladin I was able to solo him by taking him into one of the small rooms and moving out of his rain of fire whenever he used it and when he summoned the demon just moved to the other room. My gear was purely Outlands gear except for the heirloom shoulders/two-handed axe. Happy questing!

Easily soloable as a deadly gladiator equiped shadow priest!

As the main strategy says, clear the room(s)
1. After the summon, go and stand in one of the doors and wait for him to finish the talking.
2. Keep spamming the Vampiric Embrace till it hits on, then quickly move into the room to avoid the arrows outside.
3. Dot him with Vampiric Touch, Shadow Word: Pain and Devouring Plague.
4. Shield yourself and move out of his aoe attack (just move to the other side of the room)
5 Cast Mind Blast and Shadow Word: Death and send out your Shadow Fiend
-if you feel you have time to cast Mind Flay do so, waste no time.
6. Re-Dot him, Shield yourself as soon as its ready and move out of his aoe.
7. Now his casting portal, but pay no attention to it.. by now you should have done enough damage to make it with plenty of time to spare.
8. Mind Blast, Death, Mind Flay and he should be dead

I did this without healing once, without go into Dispersion or use any mana regeneration but the Shadow Fiend
He never got my hp under 90% thanks to VE and Shield, nor did he manage to spawn any adds at all!

It took me 3 tries till i figured how i should get this done.
I am going to make a fraps out of this when my brother gets to this quest aswell as proof.

I did what everyone suggested (clear both rooms) and went from there. I was pretty sure I had him by myself but then I realized a opposite-faction rogue was helping me. I'm not exactly sure when he started to help me, but I was definitely in the second room and burning through his help before I noticed. He does hit really hard. I'm using a rhino and I have him specd for survivability, but he was still taking a ton of damage. I'm going to say that with the RNG it's possible, but I would wait for a few levels.

Tried to solo him as a 80 fire mage. Unsuccessful just couldn't keep him off of me long enough to allow some procs off. Zulu can't be slowed or rooted so it's suggested you get a tank to keep off while you dps or a healer to keep you up long enough to burn him down. He hits hard for a lvl 70 and has over 80k health.

As an afflic warlock, it was fairly simple - DoT and kite. Clear out the right room, run into it as you throw down your dots, and then just slowly lead him up the stairs. Move out of Rain of Fire and Haunt & Corruption will keep you alive. When he enrages, make sure you have dots on him, and then get the hell out of his way.

When I returned a 70 DK was there and between us we pulled him into a room and burnt him down very quickly. There were no other spawns. I feel that most level 80 cloth wearers should be able to solo okay.

I've soloed this five times now.Twice on locks,a hunter,a druid,and a DK.

Strategy is basically the same.I clear the two drakes,and lower and upper floors of bldg on the right.
Run into first room,Zulu will attack you in there.DPS him until he starts to summon demon,run into next room.Continue DPS until he starts to summon again.

Then run to top floor.By this time,hopefully,he will be near 20% and wont summon again before he transforms.Once he does,he is cake.

And,no,I don't always get on first try.I've died more than a few times,but it IS soloable.Also,I'm not positive,but I think they upped Zulu's lv.He is Lv72,and yellow to me at 80.I seem to remember him being green or grey on earlier tries,but I may be wrong.

The trick with pets is to make them docile/hostile as needed to get them to follow you and pull Zulu into the next room.GL

Soloed this as a Demo Lock at 80. Died a few times for education's sake. The trick is to turn yourself into a healer rather than a DPS (or a tank, if you're suicidal like that). Use your pet as both tank and DPS. Very slow DPS, sure, but slow and steady is better than fast an dead!

Here's how I did it:

Clear out one of the bottom rooms, as explained in other comments.
Clear out the courtyard of the two enslaved drakes.
Take the quest.
Book it to the room you cleared out and stand away from the door, out of the archers' line of fire.
Sick your Felguard on Zuluhed once he comes into the room.
Drop Curse of Doom on him.
Lob off some DoTs, but keep an eye on your Felguard's health. Use Health Funnel to keep him alive. Even a mediocre-geared Lock at 80 should be generating enough health from Fel Armor at this point that the drain from Health Funnel will be negligible.
At some point, a big demon will show up. Ignore it, unless it aggros on you, in which case have your Felguard attack it long enough to draw aggro away from you. Keep the Felguard's focus on Zuluhed.
Cycle between Health Funnel to keep your Felguard alive, Life Tap to keep your mana up, and Drain Life to keep yourself alive. Toss off DoTs when able, with special focus on refreshing CoD when the opportunity arises, but remember that your goal is to keep your Felguard alive.

Zuluhed should drop after a while, and you can then switch focus to fighting his leftover demon. After Zuluhed, this guy will be a cakewalk.

Just did it solo with a Lvl 70 BM hunter. I don't have WotLK so no WotLK items where used.

The stategy given with clearing rooms in advance is a MUST! Use a tenacity pet (I used a warp stalker) and make sure you have "cower" linked in the hotbar (won't auto-cast it seems). Have your pet stacked with all defence skills.

As said before clear both left and right room, trigger the quest and stand next to the entrance of one of the rooms. As soon as he goes red you give your pet the "attack command" directly followed by "passive". Now run into the room and get your pet tanking again. Make sure he is in far enough not to get hit by archers. Word of warning is that a shaman can be pulled if you get to close to the stairs. Just keep "mend pet" and "scorpid sting" on at all times and when your pet's health drops hit "cower". Dodge the fire rains!

When he opens the portal hit your pet to "passive" and run to the other room with "detterence" on to minimize damage. There you repeat the damage dealing. Now when he opens another portal run outside. I did 2 tries on this and both times I found that all the archers disappeared so it's save to go on outside. Keep damaging away. Chanses are mobs will respawn, get them on your pet and take them out asap.

If you have managed this far you'll get another neat challange. Another portal is likely to open and there is nowhere left to run. Get the pitlord on your pet as well and use all possible CD's you have to take out Zuluhed. Once he is down your pet will have no problem at all with the demon.

If you have acces to them get some elixirs to boost dps and defence, I didn't use them but they'll speed things up. In fact I only used 1 super healing pot and 2x rank 3 Lifeblood, so without herbalism you could pull this off with two pots.

This is not for the faint of heart, and you may find it to be above your capabilities. If you own WotLK just level a few levels and try again. If like me you don't, try to get someone to help you out.

Soloed today as 72 prot paladin in Cobalt crafted set and BC quest reward gear. Used Seal/Judgement of Light for most of the fight while switching to Corruption when I was at 60% or higher HP. Cleared 2 top rooms and patrol that walks down the spiral stairs in the right-hand room before starting the quest. Tanked him in the left-hand side room first until he opened his first portal then dragged him to the right-hand room. When he opened a second portal I tanked him on that spiral staircase (which made it easier to avoid his Rain of Fire since you just alternate moving up and down the spiral). On his third portal opening I dragged him to the base of the spiral and just burnt him down.

Soloed today as a LEVEL 70 MAGE. It can be done. Finished the fight with about 2% hp, no mana and a horde of orcs, including a summoned demon with 65k hp after me, looted the key, slowfalled off the edge, and came back later to complete the quest.

I was a herbalist, with lifebloom, and used 1 mad alchemist's potion (+HP and Mana).

Gear
you'll need plenty of good gear (half of mine was blue or purple), but the most important thing is a passive speed bonus from the swift metas or boot enchant. you will die without this. Unlike most bosses, he runs at 108%-ish movement speed, you will be about the same speed as him, letting you kite him a bit when outdoors.

Glyphs
Glyph of Ice Barrier - he hits like a frikkin truck and you want to survive
Glyph of Evocation - healing from every source is desperately needed.

Strategy
beleive it or not you can kite this boss, his move speed is roughly equal to normal run speed with passive bonus, but he's on a strict "enrage timer" so to speak: you need to kill him before the demon comes out of the third portal.
At the beginning, clear everything. Everything. Even the shammy on the roof (he heals the archers, and can attack you).

Then ice barrier, take the quest when the cooldown is over, and wait in the room to the right. You needed to burst him down immediately. This is the only time you can afford to stand still, so elemental out and icy veins nuke. Rebarrier when it wears off, and blink accross the room to reduce the number of hits you take. Lifebloom + Iceblock when you hit half HP, then resume nuking when you can. Do not immeditately cold snap! you need to time this crefully with fingers of frost, so as to land a double Deep Freeze. This thing does on average 8k per cast. Abuse ghost charges from fingers of frost to get an extra frostbolt with high crit.

then when he summons his portal, you need to get out. you've got like 12 seconds until a 65k demon that hits for 1.5k appears. blink accross to the other room, reducing damage taken from arrows, and resummon your elemental, and icy veins again. its nuking time. Repeat the tactics like in the first room, but be mindful of your health. Mana Shield may become a necessity. Potion + Mana Gem. ice barrier + evocate, keep the hp up, until he summons the 2nd portal.

then run to the door and blink into the open. The dragons have killed off the archers by now, so its safe to kite, however the shamans may have respawned by now, which can lead to some... interesting kiting.

blink when he reaches melee range, use frostbolts and deep freeze whenever you can. Ice lance spam during fingers of frost procs, distance = life. I swear he hits for less in his demon form than his normal form, he will summon a portal in the courtyard after a short while. This is your enrage timer. there's nowhere to go, and you're gonna have 2 demons wailing on you and nowhere to run. Use the water elemental's freeze to immobalise the trash mobs away from you, and use cone of cold on them to get FoF procs. If you can pull it off, good luck. The kill takes about 5 minutes, but that's a long time to go in melee range.

As a Lv 80 Warlock trying to solo this quest, I completely under-estimated it. Nearly 10 rdps target you once the quest accepted. I died quickly on first try.

Learning from mistake and nearly 1000ft corpse run. I tried again.

My strategy is to keep fly-mounted, didn't clear anything, accept the quest and then quickly fly outside the entrance behind Zuluhed and pull him. From that position all rdps on the wall cannot hit you and Zuluhed is completely isolated.

Without the fire power of those rdps, and the NPC he summoned is not threatening, Zuluhed get killed easily.

Soloed as an 80 Arcane Mage. I died two times while simply trying to burn him down, he was stripping away my 18k health too quickly. Tried adding Mana Shield and lost too much mana. So third time I decided to try a different location, inside the tower with the ramp as opposed to inside the other tower, where I believe the archers might have hit me a few times. When Zuluhed spawned I immediately headed for the back of the room and waited for his speech to finish, when he began moving my way I cast Mirror Image. Zuluhed proceeded to attack the mirror images one after another and ignored me even though I was getting critical hits with arcane blast for over ten thousand damage. The only damage I took on that try was from his area of effect spell and he didn't last long enough to summon a demon.

Soloed 3/11/10, lvl 80 Demonology-spec Warlock with Felguard

After dying a couple times from the archers and once from poor pet control >.<

Cleared drakes in courtyard and two shammies in each hut and started quest; ran to right-hand hut while Zuluhed was giving his speech. As soon as he went aggro, I had the Felguard pull him inside the hut. Killed him easily before he opened any portals. Looted the key, freed our lady dragon and off we went.

Like someone above, solo'd as a lvl 72 prot pally. Cobalt gear, some greens. Came close, because I got some unlucky thwacks early on. Had four demons summoned by the end, popped every cooldown (used lay on hands more for the mana burst than anything else). Had him down to a sliver, nearly screamed because the first drake repopped. Blew a bubble, threw everything at him, he died. I looted the key while the drake is hitting me, killed that, had like 25 hp left... then the other drake showed up to gnaw on me. He hit, I winced, Ardent Defender proc'd and I kicked its butt and enjoyed a pleasant victory ride on the freed dragon.

Hairy, but did it in two tries.

Solo'ed as un-geared lvl 80 kitty druid. Had on Gift of the Wild, Thorns, and downed an Onslaught elixir.

Just attack mercilessly, using Tiger's Fury and Berserk when available, and he burns down quickly. Ignored the demon until Zuluhed was dead, then shadowmelded to lose aggro, looted the key, and done. Not too bad, didn't need to heal at all.

soloed as a 71 prot pally in almost all greens this was very easy even without using my lay of hands and potions. But i made the mistake of only clearing one side of mobs and ran into a room to avoid the summoned demon and aggroed all 3. Def clear both rooms first for a much smother fight.

Soloed as a 74 BM Tauren hunter with 73 turtle and a glyphed Mend Pet.

1. Clear both rooms and the drakes at the front, accept quest while mounted and swoop into the room of your choosing asap.
2. Have your pet on passive and have it stay on one side of the room (I chose left), you stand on the other side after pulling.
3. Mend pet, MD to pet, shoot Zuluhed, he will come running in and attack pet, when he reaches it put it on defensive. Keep mend pet up obviously and use abilities such as cower and shell shield when appropriate, move out of the rain of fire, use your usual rotation, Kill Command every cd etc.
4. When he starts spawning the portal put your pet on passive and follow so it comes to you on the other side of the room, put pet on stay/passive again.
5. MD Zuluhed to pet again once he's finished with his portal, set pet to defensive, continue as you were. Big ugly demon spawns! I put down a frost trap below the portal but I don't think it worked, it came for me so I feigned death, then it just stayed on the other side of the room without aggroing (gotta love hunters!). Got kind of tricky with trying to avoid getting too close to it while dodging the rains of fire, had to use a Super Health pot after not dodging so well :p.
6. Zuluhed enrages and turns into a demon, pop all cooldowns, cower or shell shield then use the other when the first ends, he dies, loot key, you should be done. Watch out for shammy respawns.

Some random DK came in and started attacking the portal demon just as I killed Zuluhed so that was nice, but if you lack random 80s in Shadowmoon Valley then I'd just dismiss pet, see if you can get out of the door without aggroing it, if not then run/Deterrence and feign death in a safe place ;).

This may not be terribly helpful, but it should provide a few laughs and illustrate how this is not to be soloed. On my lvl 80 rogue I set the event rolling by accident & despite stealthing Zuluhed came straight for me. After copping a few arrows from the archers I ran into a side room and promptly aggroed the npc’s. After a quick grind I burnt Zuluhed down. He transformed towards the end, but it was such a clusterf*** I didn’t notice him summoning any adds. I was in fairly decent pvp gear, used lifebloom and one health pot & came out with under 50% health. In retrospect I should have popped evasion, but like I said, clusterf***……..I Hope this gives a laugh or two!

Soloed as a 70 prot warrior with the Impending Victory talent. I pulled the mobs from one room into the other, and Zuluhed followed. I could heal my self 'cause of Victory Rush, after one of the trash mobs died. Also i stayed out of his fire, and a 68 elite spawned too. Gear was full s4 Brutal Gladiator's gear, 22k health.

Soloed this quest at level 70. Enhance shaman "Sickrick" 'Misha. Cleared the room on the right as u enter area ( two wana b sham's ). Hop on ur flying mount fly over drakes and pick your quest up! Stay mounted, accpet quest fly back over to cleared room. FLAME SHOCK ZULU! Dps down the boss while healing yourself. When he summons his demons pop your CD's, Ferral spirit, fire ele totem, and bloodlust. Ferral spirit will heal you for damage they deal so healing wont be as tuff with the two elites on you. Down Zulu. Then down the demon he spawns. I also had one shmay add come from somewhere must have been a pat. All in all it was about a five minute battle. Now I just need the 3k more gold to get master flying.

Solo'd this as a 70 Dwarf Retribution Paladin.

Accepted the quest and flew to the clearing behind where he spawns (killed the mobs there first). Pulled him back there so I could run out of his AoE. When the demon spawned I just kept DPS concentrated on Zuluhed. Health dropped lower but I popped Divine Shield and got a couple heals in. After he died, killing the demon was a piece of cake. Didn't use trinket, but I imagine it could have been a little quicker if I had.

My gear is full Brutal Gladiator's DPS set.

Solo'd as a 71 Enhancement Shaman after a couple tries - no heirlooms, no purples, good amount of early wotlk quest gear. 8484 health.

First try I went in blind and got smashed quickly. Then I did some research.

As many have said, the key is using the 2 rooms (which you clear beforehand) to your left and right to avoid his demon summon.

Accepted the quest, and ran to the entrance of the right room. Pulled him into the room when he finished talking, and went to work on him. The key as always is keeping Maelstrom procs up. Save your 5-charges for heals alone; I tend to hold them until I'm under half health.

Staying out of his Ring of Fire is key, so keep and eye out for it and backpedal (I pulled him first into the larger room on the right for more maneuverability).

As soon as I saw him start his summoning (watch the hands) I popped my Shamanic Rage and went ghost wolf to sprint to the left room. Make sure to bring your totems with you as they will aggro the demon if left with him.

Once he followed me to the left room, I went all out on him - Heroism, trinket, and most importantly glyphed Spirit Wolves. With the wolves out I was free to use my maelstrom charges on lightning - between it all he was practically dead by the time he turned into a demon. I believe if you don't kill him fast enough he'll spawn another demon, so hit him hard.

Totems were Stoneskin/Searing/Healing (Elemental Resistance might not be a bad idea either)/Windfury. Weapons were Windfury x2 (for max Maelstrom procs)

Not bad at all once you get the strategy right - if you can avoid the first summon without using your wolves, you're good to go.

Solo'ed as a 70 shadow priest..about 10.5K health...11.5K Mana.

Cleared the room...pull him in there. Bubble every time its up. Dots, dots, dots..stay out of the fire. Had to throw 2 heals and pop back into shadow...he hits hard when no bubble is up. Easy stuff...5 man quest...no way.

Don't worry about the summoned demon..just stay on Zuluhed. I ended the fight with about 40% health.

Managed to solo it as a lvl 75 Sub Rogue, with mainly the lvl 70 pvp gear. Cleared the room with the two shamans that leads up, and the drake on the right when your on the balcony. Basically the same tactics as everyone else, except I'm pretty noob and pretty much always have the lowest dps in dungeons. I got lucky with my timing, and kept my health around 7.5k out of 15k until he summoned the portal. At that point I went to the stairs and cast evasion fast. He transformed and started beating the crap out of me, but I blew all my cds and took him down when I had only 900 health. Good luck to everyone who wants to solo, especially if you are slightly noobish.

Just soloed this as a level 70 DK. Make sure you clear the one of the enslaved netherwing drakes that are next to where Zuluhead spawns, and clear the shamans in the room on the same side. Pull him into that room and fight him there. Run away from the fireballs he launches at you, use your defensive cooldowns wisely, make sure you have a healing potion on you, and you should be fine. After I saw this post, I tried this on a character that I faction changed a year ago and it didn't work. Not sure if this is because I'd done the Blood Oath of the Netherwing quest that follows (I had not done the next quest, that instructs you to go to Netherwing Ledge or started the dailies, I was still 0/3000 into Neutral after the faction change), because I was attempting to do it so long after my original faction change, or if it's simply been hotfixed already. Until someone else confirms this works and is a bit more specific about which quest they stopped on before faction changing, I wouldn't recommend blowing $20 just to cheese the rep grind.

Soloed today as lvl 70 frost mage. It is hard yes. but it can be done. the strategy is like mention aboves. i kill the 2 enslaved dragon. i buffed up. mount up. talk to karnyaku. fly behind the zuluhed and after he finish talking IMMEDIATELY attack him.

Killed him with 50% left of my hp but no mana left. he spawn a big demon and the demon kill me. Alas, i got the key. Good luck guys.

I was able to solo this yesterday as a 74 Blood DK (gnome). I was wearing heirloom shoulders and chest and the rest level 70 PvP gear.

After reading through Wowhead yesterday I still did it wrong the first time. Shooters got me. I died. I took the rez sickness because that's a very long run back. Second time I did an elixir of Fortitude. I killed the adds in the room first, abandoned the quest and picked up again. I flew into the previously cleared room while Zuluhed was doing his monologue. When he finished I death gripped him into the room I had cleared. I did end up using death pact with my ghoul, a healing pot and rune tap.

I have done this at 80 on another DK and it was a totally different fight. I also did it at 70 during BC (very challenging)

Make sure you're not mounted to accept this quest. He will not appear if you accept the quest while mounted. He appears right behind Karynaku.

Unexpectedly easy solo as a modestly geared (probably 60/40 green/blue) level 80 arcane mage.
I went with the advice of clearing out the 2 side rooms first, but really only needed one room as the fight was over in about 20 seconds; he never spawned aid, or anything. I launched a frostfire bolt at him as soon as he was hostile from within the room, then popped mirror image to take most of the damage off of me while I pummeled him with arcane barrage, fire blast and arcane explosion in between arcane missile availability, using that when it came up. It was over before my mirrors faded and I still had almost full health & mana.

Optional Tactic to Room Method for Solo Hunters:
(tactic may not be new, but I did not read through ALL the posts to find out and noticed people still attempting the Room Method)

This may help other classes as well, but I did it last night with my Lv 71 Hunter, BM, 60/40 Blue/Green, no heals needed(for me anyway) Solo. Cause that's how Hunters Roll....J/k.

I tried the room method 5 times and could not make it happen. I scoped out the outside and saw the path leading behind the right side of the small castle and thought I might make better use of it. Clear everything out behind and down the path. Make sure you get the walker mob as well, as he patrols the path and its easier to just not deal with the add later. The key is clear the area quickly and initiate the quest to avoid respawns. Also clear starting behind the castle, towards the path, and down. This the direction you will be pulling so it will help to stay ahead of the respawn, just in case the battle takes a little longer than it did for me.

***I noticed some are claiming you can't be mounted. I was most definitely mounted when I triggered the quest and had no problems. You may need to be dismounted before he finishes his speech to keep him spawned. I don't know.

Anyway, Trigger the quest mounted and immediately head to Zuluhed, low to the ground if flying, go through him, out the gate behind him and make a hard right. This kills the line of sight for the archers and they become a non issue. As soon as you go through the gate behind Zuluhed dismount and prepare for combat. He should be wrapping up his Blah Blah Blah Speech and will come looking for you. He actual came through the wall on me, so watch for this.

There are some barricades and such just outside the gate to the right. This is were i started my engagement. I let him come to me. The cleared area towards the path leaves plenty of room to avoid his ROF. As soon as you engage, get your pet on him, drop your explosive trap, and back up. Give him every thing you have, Beastal Wraith, Rapid Fire, and any other Damage Buff trinket you may have and start your ROF dance. While in Rapid Fire I just laid on the arcane shots and kill commands and used Fervor to refocus. VERY IMPORTANT: Keep your pet heal going, don't let it drop off. I used a battle worg/wolf spec'd for max damage, no armor or health points used. It also helps to have a pet with Heart of Phoenix just in case. I did not end up needing it. Pet Health on my Worg = 9871 Mine =9854.
DON'T FORGET: Use your kill command and Fervor every chance you get.

Like the Room Tactic, avoiding the portals and elite adds is key. pull back as soon as the portal appears or you notice him calling for it. I had the big Demon standing there by the portal but he never aggro'd and I did not have to pull back too far. I only had to back up to wear the actual path starts down hill, with Zuluhed and my pet half way between the portal and myself, to finish the fight. I did get one respawn add towards the end, but i just ice trapped him to dispose of after dealing with the more pressing matter.

I may have gotten lucky, as I only had to deal with one portal spawn, but I had plenty of room left to back down the path if needed. Much easier for me to get an overview of the battle from outside than in the cramped quarters of the rooms. It was as heart pounding fight, especially since I had been beat'n down 5 times trying to use the room method.

As an 85 mage I had to take off my weapons so I didn't kill him to fast. First time I did it he didn't drop the key. Maybe it was just me though.

Pretty annoying quest. I used a bear as lvl 80 Beast mastery hunter as I missed this quest line beforehand. He spawns a 69 elite demon after you kill him and while killing him he has about 10/12 archers. I had all the aggro so i nearly died from all of them. I finished him off in a corner out of view and took the demon. You must have master flying to continue questline.

The quest was a little buggy for me. The first time I killed him the loot table did not appear and his corpse immediately vanished. I abandoned the quests and did it again. This time everything worked.

The key appears as loot and goes into your bags. You will have to go back to Karynaku, open your bags and click on the key and then on her. At that point the quest is completed.

Solo'd as lvl70 Hunter, took 2 attempts. Was confused when done though about handing it in... have to go to the rear of the dragon to unlock chains.

1st attempt, I died because didn't expect the dragon to wake up and attack me while I was trying to fight it's captor... how's that for gratitude. The 2nd time I stayed out of it's way.

Soloed Zulu as an 80 elemental shammy, coming back for it with mostly northern blues and 3 heirloom pieces of armor.

The first time I tried it around 75, I cleared out the side rooms, but then stood there and tried to duke it out. Yeah, right. The blasted archers hurt. I died when I ran out of mana. Too many heals sucked it all down.

Came back at 80. Died again when I was not careful.

Third time around, I cleared the rooms, killed the shammy on top. Then ran out the back door. Throw down a healing rain, keeping it alive due to conductivity. A quick magma totem just as he started to attack me. Stand in the healing rain and spam lightning bolts, earth shock, flame shock, some chain lightning until it eats up too much mana, whereupon go back to lightning bolts, an earthquake. I was just starting to pop off an earth elemental totem, when he just died. Should have done the EE totem first thing, but did not need it so a little sloppy there.

A good point about the healing rain is if I stood on one edge of the pool, then when he uses an area spell I could run to the other edge of the rain, still getting healed, but out of his AOE spell. When the fight ended, I was even fully healed, and at about 60% mana, so clearly not sucking wind.

Free ride home.

Running out the back door was important, but so was planning and watching my health & mana. It was not even that hard. When I went in thinking that my shammy could take anything in this zone without breaking a sweat, my trip back involved running from the cemetery, restarting the quest. The difference was crucial.

Completed this mission solo as a level 72 Ret Pally. Spammed my Exo, Templars Verdict, Judgement, Crusaders Strike, and of course my Flash of Light. I used the Seal Of Insight and completed the mission in about a minute with no pots used. Only advice I can give is to keep your eyes glues to your health bar. If it drops below 40%, use your Divine Shield so you can heal safely. I started in the room on the right, moved onto the stairs after the first demon portal, then finished him on the stairs.

Solo'd as level 70 druid. Probably the difficulty was changed because for me it is the one of the easiest group quests I finished. Just stand behind him when the fight starts and you can kill him with few hits because Dragon's are supporting you with a great damage.

Did this quest in 7.3.5 with the new leveling changes, however Zuluhed the Whacked does not correctly scale. As a result, at level 73 I one shot him. He is elite. This is clearly a bug.

This quest feels like bugged. It says "Suggested: 5 players" but the moment Zuluhed appears, Neltharaku & Netherwing dragons come to aid with an air strike and kill him instantly without your contribution whatsoever. He can't even finish transforming into demon, neither summons Arcubus Destroyer. Just dies to air strike... Those dragons should definitely do less damage.

So I completed the quest that's supposed to be before this one in patch 8.3. Karynaku then didn't give me a new quest and I found it a bit weird at the time. I have now returned and found out, that I am supposed to be offered this quest, but there is nothing. It may be worth noting that I am currently level 78, but considering this page claims that the level requirement is level 67, that shouldn't be a problem. Have I just seriously overlooked something? It's probably not relevant, but I am playing a mechagnome.

Have to share this as of 2020.

Just soloed this guy as a 75 Brewmaster Monk. As soon as he spawned I actually pulled him under the arc from where he spawns.
Only had the 2 drakes on me. Used Storm, Earth and Fire. AoE'd the dragons down. Used Touch of Karma and Chi Wave to heal up.
Then did round 2 with Storm, Earth and Fire and Dampen Harm and he was pretty much downed. Doesn't hit that hard. And you've got cover from most of the archers.

Tried this earlier today while Timewalking levelling.
It was myself as a lvl 47 Enhancement Sham and a level 48 Blood DK.
Although the quest suggest getting 5 players for this boss, this hadn't stopped myself and the DK from clearing other bosses in this area beforehand.
That being said, this boss was incredibly difficult, and we did not succeed in duoing it. In our attempts we did not get the boss under 50%.
We were able to keep the summoned Pitlord in another room, however the boss will summon another portal a little while later.
Ultimately we either weren't able to tank the boss for a long period of time, or we didn't have the DPS to get him down.
I'm not sure if there's a better strategy for this, or the boss is overtuned as of Shadowlands release.

I was able to solo this on a prot paladin, level 40. After a couple failed attempts, I noticed the pit lords he summons do not aggro onto you automatically.

Had to run with him down the ramp behind where he spawns whenever he summoned a red portal, making sure to be far enough away so the pit lords don't aggro. I was able to kill him after 6 total summons, using defensives on the demon form at the end.

He hits very hard. I do not think a non-tank, or one with worse self healing, would be able to do it.

If you are high level and take out the archers, Zuluhed the Whacked may not appear.
The only way around this is to abandon & re-acquire the quest.
Note that Zuluhed the Whacked should appear in the middle of the courtyard at the bottom of the ramp from Karynaku.

Side note : this is one of the spawn points for Ambassador Jerrikar, an objective of Medium Rare and Bloody Rare.
