In 15 minutes I got all that was required. Pulling from the green lake had the best luck to getting the spleens. Also start on the NW side of the green lake. Anywhere else I went, the drop rate was non-existent.

I have no issues with the droprate for this quest. I got one per every 5 or 6 kills. To me, this was the perfect drop rate for a quest like this. Not too long, not too short.

The location for killing these mobs doesn't matter in relation to the droprate. The most important thing is to ensure you are killing the correct mob. The droprate is not too bad since you only need 8 of them. I found the droprate to be higher than what was on the site, but that may be due to people killing these things when they are not on the quest - thus 0% drop rate for those kills. This quest realistically can be finished in 20 kills.

It seems as it it always drops when theyre not under the affect of the wound thing.
So my advice : kill it as fast as you can and if it gets the wound,wait it out.
BTW it can also drop but much lowered when having the wound

What Strange Creatures...

Researcher Tiorus at Shadowmoon Village in Shadowmoon Valley wants you to recover 8 Felfire Spleens.

Description

I am interested in learning more about the strange reptiles that mill about the lava flows of Shadowmoon Valley. Never have I seen beasts able to withstand the searing heat of molten lava!

Outside of Shadowmoon Village, where the ground has ruptured and lava flows through the cracks, you will find felfire diemetradons. Slay them and bring me their spleens. From their spleens I will be able to begin preliminary analysis of their resistance to heat.
