Wowhead News has just updated, and this mount is almost certainly going to be a craftable flying mount available through Alchemy. This might change, but its similarity to Vial of the Sands suggests it will be.

It is referred to as a 'mail template' suggesting it could be crafted through Leatherworking or Blacksmithing.

There is a high probability this will be the new Alchemist mount, craftable in Mists of Pandaria, just like the 时沙之瓶 in Cataclysm. And just like it's previous counterpart, you can carry one ally on this mount.You can imagine this will NOT be a cheap mount to get, I wish you all the best of luck.

Personally, I think this is going to be another Blizzard Store bought mount, given a few things I've noticed about it.

时沙之瓶: Requires Level 80 & Requires Expert Riding, not to mention has a vendored price of 25G & is BoE.

夜翼之心, similar to 守护巨龙之心: Requires Level 20, Requires Apprentice Riding, no vendored price for either, & they are both BoP. Also, both are 'Heart of the '

Now, I'm not saying it definitely is, but it seems very likely to be another Store mount.

EDIT 1: Or, as was pointed out by pikamaster, it's also likely to be the new Recruit-A-Friend mount, due to the icon for RAF Mount III being a perfect match for this mount.

EDIT 2: It indeed turns out that this shall be the 3rd Recruit-a-Friend mount, as confirmed by Ashelia!

Well, it actually looks like one of the new JC panther craftable mounts so... My guess is that it will be similar to Vial of Sands but for JC, which I think is fair. In the end there should be Vial of Sands style mounts for different professions, and not only Alchemists. Sure hope the recipe is not a drop from Archeology though, which can be a pain to get plus it can end up on the wrong alt (not the crafter).

If its a RAF mount I guess many ppl will end up creating new accounts just to get it, and if its a Blizz Store one, we will see tons of these things flying around in every major city / new zone, cause lets face it... LOOK REALLY GREAT!

its not going to be for JC.why all of the sudden give JC's 5 mounts! doesnt make sense.my guess is that because it teaches "obsidian nightwing" and obsidian has alot to do with blacksmithing,this will become blacksmithings craftable mount seeing as though this profession cannot craft any mounts so far.blizz is gonna try and make it fair for all craft proffs

If you still got a old recruit a friend mount to claim, you will get this one and not the old one. There is no way to get the old ones.

The first recruit a friend mount was the 迅捷斑马 and after that one it was the X-53型观光火箭 and now it is 夜翼之心.

There is currently no achievement granted upon learning this mount. Whether or not one will be added in the future has yet to be seen.

Edit: I don't see why this was downvoted. There was no confirmed achievement before release, and as the previous 2 mounts resulted in achievements, it was expected there would be one. And unless you have proof that there never will be one, then there's no reason why you can expect them NOT to put one. So unless you have a highly logical reason for down voting, don't do it.

Gorgeous looking mount, that's for sure. It shares the same skeleton, /mountspecial and animations as the Winged Guardian, but has a sleeker body and overall feels less "clumsy". One thing that I noticed however is that it seems to also share the "flame" ambience of the Winged Guardian, hopefully a slight bug that will be fixed.

It has no other emotes, despite the "shapeshift" in the tooltip. It won't sit, lay down or even turn its head as you look around. This I find to be a bit sad since it would be nice to actually feel like you HAVE indeed shapeshifted into this flying panther of awesome. Perhaps one day they'll add some more fun to this and the Sandstone drake!

This mount won't be account-wide, so anyone considering claiming it will still have to choose character carefully!

That's about all there is to this mount, in my opinion the most worthy RaF mount so far!

I just got this mount, I had one rocket to claim, thus as soon as the mount was rolled out I got it.

The mount counts towards mounts collection achievements BUT no FOS is given upon learning it. Hopefully Blizzard will add one in the next minor patch.

It reminds me Winged Guardian in a darker skin. In my opinion the rocket looked much better.

If you want the mount but do not have anyone to recruit, you can set up a bogus WoW account on your own BNET account to obtain one for yourself. The cost is $35.

After sending yourself the RAF free edition, you will have to upgrade it to the battle chest edition ($20). You will also have to purchase 2 months of game time ($30). However, your real WoW account is credited with one free month of play for recruiting your bogus account so you get $15 back there.

Make sure to upgrade the RAF free edition to the battle chest edition. Do not purchase the battle chest edition separately or you lose the benefits! If you accidentally do this, call Blizzard support and they can fix it for you.

You cannot claim the mount until the battle chest edition and two months of game time are purchased. However, if you use a credit card, your credit card is not billed for the game time until it actually gets used. Depending on what payment plan you use, you will be waiting at least 30 days because your bogus account will use the free 30 days all new accounts get first. You can avoid having to wait by using a WoW prepaid time card because that time is immediately applied to your bogus account. You can buy these prepaid time cards in the Blizzard Store.

As of the 5.0 patch, the Obsidian Nightwing makes annoying grunting noises all the time, like a gorilla giving birth to an antelope. If these noises annoy you (and they do annoy the heck out of me), you may want to hold out for the next RAF mount. Google "obsidian nightwing noise" for a bunch of threads complaining about it.

I've got a couple questions about this mount.

1) you transform into the mount, right?

2) can this be used solo (without a rider or 2nd player) to fly (at L60+ with training)?

3) Can anyone in the game ride? How does that work? Will players travelling thru the game as Nightwing be subject to special 'mount requests' from nuisance players? ie: how do you control who can mount and ride?

Blizzard's Recruit-A-Friend Program gives you multiple reward choices! You can only pick one reward per account recruited. The reward is made available in-game through the social tab on the chat window to the recruiting or "veteran" account after the new recruited account has paid for two months of game subscription time. A pop-up message lets you know if you have a new reward ready to choose.

Mount Reward Options:
迅捷斑马 teaches 迅捷斑马 - The original RAF mount, ground-only. Grants the achievement 强力党老友.
X-53型观光火箭 teaches X-53型观光火箭 - The second RAF mount, a 2-seater rocket. Gives the achievement 更加强力党的老友.
夜翼之心 teaches 黑曜夜之翼 - The third RAF mount, which transforms the owner into a winged black catlike mount that can carry a passenger on your back. Grants the achievement 依然强力党的老友.
翡翠角鹰兽 teaches 翡翠角鹰兽 - A lovely green and orange hippogryph mount. Gives the achievement 倍加强力党的老友.
烬鬃战马 teaches 烬鬃战马 - A blackened winged horse covered in bright orange flames. Grants the achievement 超级强力党的老友.

And pets, originally available only as limited-time rewards on the Chinese & Taiwan servers:
金猪硬币 teaches 金猪.
银猪硬币 teaches 银猪.

I have all of the mounts from RAFing a second account several times. If you're debating which reward to choose, I'd recommend either of the two-seater mounts: X-53型观光火箭 or 黑曜夜之翼. The ability to carry a passenger is perfect for your RAF adventures!

Since the last update to RAF was the addition of the Cindermane Charger in early 2015, it seems that we might be due for a new RAF promotion sometime soon.

There is now a choice of 4 different mounts for recruit a friend. I started RAF about one month ago, the program got suspended and I was nervously waiting to get my mount. Just heard today that it is back! So the mount choices include Heart of the Nightwing, X-53 Touring Rocket, Swift Zevra and Emerald Hippogryph .

I resubbed after about 3 months of inactivity to find this new RaF system. I recently had a second heart of the nightwing in my inventory, since you can't learn 2 once they became shared. I sent in a ticket, and the GM allowed me to turn in my extra for another RaF mount. Pretty convenient.

PSA: MOUNT ITEM GOES DIRECTLY INTO BAGS OF CURRENT CHARACTER AFTER YOU CHOOSE IT!

I just got my popup message informing me that I could choose a RAF reward. The popup came when I logged in to a lvl2 alt I just started playing. Unfortunately, on selecting the mount/pet you want it drops it immediately into the bag of your current character. If the character is not yet lvl20 you will not be able to use the item and add the mount to your collection. The item is also soulbound so you can't send it to another character. Your only options at this point are to open a ticket or level the character to lvl20.

I noticed a person on my old realm with this mount and I asked him if it was an "TCG" mount that I hadn't noticed and he said "No, it's from Recruit a Friend, so I looked at my Email and noticed I had a un-used thing from when I had recruited my old friend into WoW so I didn't accept my Rocket Mount but instead got the Nightwing mount and from what I know, I was realm 2nd on getting the mount. :P Was cool to have for a while. :) 依然强力党的老友

Not sure what dropped this item, but I have one in my bags after randomly digging up archeology fragments areound draenor. I killed many things, but never noticed it drop. I already had the mount from RAF, but it seems blizz has made it a drop.

Blizzard, Pllease stop making these 'mouints' RAF only. I dont like it whjen awesome mounts like these are RAF. These should bne earnable in game instead of the joke of some mounts that you get as a very rare drop...

This is one of the unobtainable mounts which still shows as uncollected on the official WoW armory.
