Drops from Ai-Li Skymirror (a rare elite in Dread Wastes)
Has about a 30 yard range and states 'Only works on players' when used agains most npc's.
Unlike many of the other items from the rare's, the buff you get from using this gives the error 'Cannot mount while shapeshifted'.
One of the lesser drops in my opinion. But im sure all the 幻觉药水 users out there will like it.

Does not break on combat. Does break on death however. As a warlock I was able to copy the form of a feral druid and fight/kill things otherwise normally.

edit: also mentioned in other comments but you cannot mount as long as you have this buff.

Like most Transformation items, Druid shapeshifting removes the buff.
Casting the mirror while in a Druid form will waste the cooldown without giving you the buff.

A pretty neat item to have on hand. Great for a laugh in random dungeons, especially if you're a caster or hunter and copy a cat or bear druid. Another fun thing to copy is Hook of the Master Angler. Have someone with it hop in the water, then use the mirror on them. You will be able to keep the fishy form while attacking and even on land!

A lot of people who have it complain about the long cooldown. It's really no worse than other transformation items, such as Iron Boot Flask.

It may be interesting to note, that as a death knight who has the Glyph of Horn of Winter, if you use the mirror, and then use Horn of Winter, it causes (instead of a normal fully correct looking snowstorm) a sheet of snow that is two-dimensional to slant awkwardly over your character, it looks rather interesting. I've only tested this glitched effect by transforming myself in to a male panda so far, haven't tested it with anything else.

This item can be used on a player transformed into a Sandstorm Drake, you get some really cool animations, when you basic attack it even uses it's claw, i tried bladestorm while being the drake as i am a warrior and he actually spins his head when you use it. when you heroic leap he also flies abit.. think it might get hotfixed soon tho :)

Anyone know anything else fun you can use it on?
As i'v understood you can transform to anything a player look like.

This probably isn't intended... but I used it on someone who has been transformed into a mogu statue with Shard of Archstone, and I turned invisible. (I was hoping for a moving statue, which would've been so much fun)

Just wanted to say, that you can use this item on yourself. There are 2 reasons why i use it on myself. the first is to get naked and use it. The 2nd is, that you can collect mail, leather and cloth items that you can equip, put them on, and then use this on yourself.

As a Balance Druid (at least with glyph of stars) you can safely shapeshift in and out of Moonkin form without losing the buff. Animal forms however do make the buff disappear.

Stock up on some hallowed wands (like 万圣节魔棒 - 蝙蝠 or 万圣节魔棒 - 小精灵) and use them on your party members, then copy them and receive superior versions! Unlike their versions, you will be free to cast and fight in yours. This also works with similar items such as 开花的树枝.

So here are a few things i have done with this item as a tank.

Tank as a tree, gave someone banana infused rum and tanked as ghost pirate monkey, copied the image of someone who used the item in the brewery and tanked as that, my favorite so far tanked as Sandstone drake!

You can use this to extend temporary visual effects to last 10 min by targeting self and using mirror.

You can also remove the transparency effect on yourself if you use 康的束缚石 after your use mirror.(order is important!)
However, you will become black and white. In some cases it can produce interesting results.

Does not work correctly on characters who are the same race and gender as you. I have this item on a blood elf male. Every time I use it on another blood elf male, my character will get the shimmery effect and copy their weapon; however, it will not copy the other blood elf male's armor or face/hair.

This can be used on demonology warlocks who are using Metamorphosis (my personal favorite), as well as druids in animal forms. You can also use it to copy mount transformations like the Sandstone Drake, Tarecgosa (legendary staff), and Heart of the Nightwing (RAF mount). You do not gain the ability to fly in those forms, though you can still attack and cast spells.

You cannot mount while using the mirror, regardless of what you're copying. Can only be used on other players.

Also can confirm that this does not break in combat, and you cannot mount while using it.

You can copy your own equipment and then change the gear to something else. Do relog and you will have the looks of the equipment you copied. Can be useful for things like legendaries or equipment of different type that you can't transmog.

Small macro to switch sets, copy appearance and logoff. You can replace equip set with just equip and the name of the weapon, for example.

Also you can copy appearance of your own alts if you are fast enough. When you logoff (by closing game)somewhere outside of the city or inn it takes some time for character to disappear. So, if you are fast enough, you can log into your main and copy appearance of your alt.

When I use this on my Shaman, the whirlwind animation that appears around your character when Windfury Weapon procs looks much cooler than normal. It looks much bigger, and stands out much more due to the shimmer and the color. I wish it'd use that instead!

this does not work on a few item transformations that i have found thus far, it does not work on bones of transformation earned through archaeology or the other two similar items(also earned through archaeology) Wisp amulet or blessing of the old god, disappointing but there ya go.

I just found out that if you use the Skymirror on somebody, say with a 2h or a 2-1h's, you will only appear with one of the weapon. However if you use the Hozen Beach Ball, you can also dual-wield a spade and the weapon, so now you can walk around feeling well prepared :). This is just a vanity tip, cheers and good luck!

warlock - can copy a warlock in demon mode

shaman - can copy them in there elemental forms and ghost wolf

druids - can copy obv standard forms including ones from there spell

Shadow priests dispersion sadly does NOT work

hunter- havent tried copying a hunter in camo requires testing

I tested, and found out today that you can capture the 原始祝福 proc which transforms you into a huge tiger with this and be a cat for 10 minutes! I even submitted a screenshot about the transformation captured with the mirror.

I had tons of fun copying random people in raids, but had even more fun making them material. It seems people have gotten used to the Skymirror itself already on my realm, but having a BE hunter look like any other race/class without the dim Skymirror look seems to confuse people still.

I suppose the stone oil works too.

I use this item whenever I can and then join Battlegrounds with my friends. One of them uses a chopped. when you are shapeshifted by the mirror u can still mount up on the seat. =)

I thought of trying to use the mirror on some one with the legendary staff so I can turn into a the blue dragon! would be sweet,

You can use this to copy appearance of your alts.

Bring two characters to the same location that either has mobs or target dummies(best choice)
Attack npc with your first character that you want to copy, close game. Your alt will stay logged for about a 20-30 seconds. Log into second character that has mirror and copy your alts model.

Since recently (5.2 is best I can tell), it seems this had a ninja-nerf. I can no longer use a transform item on myself (幻觉药水 or 史考特的幸运币) then use the SkyMirror. If I do this, The item gets used, and it plays the initial animation, but then I loose the buff and transparency. The 1hr cooldown is used, but I don't get the buff. C'mon bliz..

I didn't see this noted anywhere, but it it actually inverted the staff of the Monk I mirrored. The top of the staff was at the bottom, in my mirror image.

I made a list of gimmick items which you can use to transform your character into a different form or race or even gender to play around with. I didn't add items like weapons that provide a procc with a transform effect that only lasts a few seconds even though I know about them. So, I don't know about anyone else, but for me this has either been nerfed into non-working or it's a broken item because I can't get this to work on anything. I use it on a player character, I get the nifty "transporter" animation (best way I can describe it), but then nothing. There's no buff that shows I used it, I don't look like another player, I don't become semi-transparent, nothing. I did get it to turn me transparent once, but STILL looked like myself, not the other player and the mirror is on cool down, I also got it to change my bow into a staff that the another player was wearing, but that's it. If I understood correctly, doing another Night Elf won't change my appearance, so I tried humans, pandas, Draenei, etc, but I just can't seem to get it to work, am I missing something?

I'm reading it was nerfed to the ground which really concerns me. I was really looking forward to this item. I've killed her DOZENS and DOZENS of times and she just won't drop it. Sucks to know that it probably won't be worth it even if she does, lol.

I love this for my shadow priest. Have someone change into a mount. Copy it. Cast levitate on self to look like flying indoors. All apparitions look like transformation so you can have naga, trees, bears, mounts, anything to chase after the boss. It's funny to watch them float up to Nalak.

There is all sorts of fun to be had using this item. For example, my mage friend on Wyrmrest got his legendary Firelands staff a while back. You know when you turn in that quest, there will be an image of you floating above Stormwind for a few hours? That image will look like however you do--including transformations.

My friend used this item to turn himself into a druid's orca form before turning in the quest, so there was an image of an orca floating above Stormwind. Trade chat was fun that night.

I used this item once at shrine. Something strange happened. I saw people suddenly transforming into General Pa'valak and I used it on that person and it turned me into the General. AKA 3rd boss of siege of Niuzao temple

I noticed something quite interesting about this item: when you use it on a female toon (mine is a male), you'll get her appearance, but if you use 辛多雷宝珠 while 艾利的天镜's effect is still on, you'll be transform into a female Blood Elf instead of male!

This little item makes it possible to display enchants on certain weapons that hide enchants by default. 祈福 as example. Picture

1. Equip benediction or a staff transmogged with benediction
2. Use ai-li's skymirror
3. Equip an enchanted staff (the weapon must be able to display enchants)

An interesting thing can be done using this item. When I use it on my warrior, and have Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker on my offhand, it makes it look like I would be wielding 2 Thunderfurys. The trick is to target yourself when using the mirror. Picture can be found in the screenshots section.

Most of the fun things this could do, such as anything you needed to target yourself for, have been taken away.

You know the nerf bat has gone to your head when you start beating down vanity items like dead horses.

Blizz: "We just realised that Ashes of Alar was too pretty. The skin has been altered to balance it more with Azure Water Strider. Some of the beauty has been retained, and respective of the effort it takes to get this mount, it has kept most of its model. The head was changed to a bug's head. Alar has simply been much too pretty for a long time now. We hope you understand why this caused a serious balance issue and why there was a need for this change."

This will now PERSIST through most transformation items and effects. if you apply it after the simian sphere, you will keep the bubble but be in your new form. Just be sure to use the mirror last as any other transformations will overwrite whatever form you tried to take until after they are clicked off. Also, it seems the fire watcher's oath is a very high priority transform, so you can't turn into a red version of whatever you're trying to copy anymore. You can use the rime of the time-lost mariner or spectral grog however.

A good item to use on anyone you see in 沙石幼龙 form, or anyone who still might have 精致套装：“巫妖王”. Another fun idea is to go into Stormsout Brewery, buy 无毛怪烈酒 from 风暴烈酒大婶 at the entrance of the dungeon, and use the Skymirror on yourself. It might also be worthy noting that you may have a different hat each time you use the brew, so you can also buy a stack of the beer so you can cycle through until you find a hat you like on your new Hozen form. My personal favorites are the Beer/Soda Hat and the Fez.

This item seems to now work with 洛莉拉的契约 by targeting yourself and then using it. I remember it not working before, but they've made some changes to this item that seems to have changed that.

You can now mount while under the spell effect of this item as long as it is a disguise with a mounting animation. Mounting with a model that doesn't have a mount animation will change the player back into their normal model until they dismount once again.

It's worth noting that when this item is used on the player with a rogue's 伪装雕文 that it can copy the appearance of any pickpockatable NPC, and it will hold in combat! For example, I used mine on 信徒刀翼战士.

Some information about this toy:

Has a duration of 10 minutes, with a 1 hour cooldown.

Works on yourself or your party/raid members.

Persists through combat.

Can be used to transmog legendaries! To do that:

1. Equip your desired legendaries
2. Use the mirror on yourself
3. Put on your normal items again...you will still be shown wearing your legendaries! It only works for 10 minutes, but its a neat little trick.

This toy was HOTFIXED at the start of the Dark Whispers Event, along with other "copy" items like the Reflecting Prism and Potion of Illusion, to no longer retain their timers while logged out.

The motive behind this was probably to prevent storing models for later use, even legitimate ones, because of the "Thok Invasion."

Since I spent a while camping this NPC for her toy, 艾利的天镜, I figured I might as well share my data. These are her spawn/kill times (I killed her almost as soon as she spawned each time so they should be the same, give or take a few minutes) over the course of a day (total time camping was 7hr 28min).

3:46 p.m.
5:02 p.m.
6:08 p.m.
7:08 p.m.
8:08 p.m. (Mirror drops for the first time for me)

For all except the time between the second to last and the last kills I was present at the spawn location at or slightly before 30 minutes had passed since the last kill, (since as other comments on here indicate her minimum respawn time appears to be a half hour). So I could have missed a spawn at exactly 7:38, but it's unlikely, since when I returned there were several people there who claimed to have been waiting a while. Although this is a relatively small sample size, you can see that most of the time she preferred to spawn almost exactly an hour after previously being killed (give or take several minutes). The longest wait was about an hour and 15 minutes, and the shortest wait was almost exactly 30 minutes. I might even wager she has a relatively high chance to spawn every ~15 minutes on and after the thirty minute waiting mark (after she was last killed) given how the times turned out; the only major outlier in my set in this regard is between the first and the 2nd being 7 minutes off of a 15 minute mark. for whatever it's worth I did get the mirror along with one of her blue armor items when it finally did drop, all the previous drops had just been one of the blue armor pieces + some gold. One last important note, if you join a party with someone of the same faction, you both get your own chance at her loot/the mirror, so no need to snipe this from members of the same faction ;). It's possible you may both need to tag the mob to be eligible, but I'm not sure on that part since she always died so quickly and I was only grouped with another person for the last kill. Hopefully, you all are luckier than me and get it much sooner, good luck!

Using this on Archmage Khadgar, at least at Deliverance Point, seems turns you into a ghastly version of yourself with the default artifact weapon appearance.

In case this helps anyone, here was my timestamps when farming the mirror.

I started on my main on Kel-Thuzad as well as a trial account 110 on a RP server with low population and started recording time stamps.
I would hop to the opposing server whenever I got a kill and stay there until I got it spawned again on that server, luckily the spawn timers didn't really overlap until the last kill
which took longer than an hour from its last kill to spawn.

The average spawn time I would say is around 45 minutes. I think the quickest spawn chance as someone stated below is 30 minutes, and my results support that theory.

Average spawn time is 30 - 1hr. 15minutes

Step 1: Type /timer and start it
Step 2: Figure out where Ai-Li Skymirror spawns
Step 3: Minimize your screen
Step 4: Go watch a movie why you watch your screen for AFK.

Haven't had any luck yet but was able to watch 2 movies before i got tired of waiting.

This item, with the use of a battle pet and a Magic Pet Mirror, can make you keep the appearance of one of your battle pets in combat or after dismounting:

I made a macro that combines 3 fun actions to use on one of your battle pets:

#showtooltip Magic Pet Mirror
/use Magic Pet Mirror
/click PetJournalSummonRandomFavoritePetButton
/use Ai-Li's Skymirror

When you right click this macro, you will use your Summon Random Favorite Battle Pet button. You can skip this step if you decide to summon a specific pet from your pet journal.
Then, left click the macro to use your Magic Pet Mirror.
Then, target yourself and click on the macro using the scroll wheel on your mouse. This will make you look like a spectral version of your pet that does not break in combat. This also causes you to retain your mirrored-pet form when you mount and dismount.

I just tried and it seems you can no longer use this on people who are under the influence (transformation) of 烈焰舞娘火盆. You used to be able to run around as a fiery, orange Draenei like 烈焰舞娘 which was pretty cool. #ninjanerf

Made to be quite ass boring :/

Best you can do with this to copy the following: Shaman, Druid, Nightfae or other players transformed into something.
Doing this on the sandstone drake also works and is quite fun or storing a Image of yourself when you got some form (e.g.: Demon Hunter Meta form) you want to save for another 10 min.

Sadly does not work on any npc I tried yet, most are Invalid targets, it says "target is not a player" or you just get a slight translucent look from the toy "working" on the npc.

I am here to complain about this item now I love it but now that DF is offically out I can't use it on the Dragons "evokers" I'm bummed when they released the race first I was able to become a dragon warlock for 10 mins

If you use this on someone who has used the "Transmute Chair" Scroll at Camp Antonidas in the Azure Span, you can become a moving chair. Other than druid forms(untested) nothing can break this. I tested this on outlaw rogue and a gun came from the chair seat. Quite a spectacle.
