Quite funny trinket... In addition to teleporting you to Gadgetzan, it sometimes mailfunction, and turns you into a murloc/trog/something, or teleports you quite high up in the air. Ultrasafe? Very.

Useful for getting to southern Kalimdor. If you want a relatively quick way of getting to AQ without setting your hearthstone, this is it.

Backfires I have found so far:
-You are at the correct location, but are stunned and you're being randomly turned into troggs and murlocs.
-It takes you a few hundred yards off course. Vertically. You will die from this fall (unless precautions are taken).
-Afflicted with the 'Evil Twin' debuff. This makes it impossible for warlocks to summon you. No other effects.

My suggestion? Strip naked and be sure to wear your Parachute Cloak. Mages can cast slowfall if need be.

Then you talk to the new-fangled transporter device that has been installed there since the implementation of the Battlegrounds and the engineering guy there gives you the recipe for it for free.

Goblin Engineers go to Everlook to get their version.

Warriors used to be able to port at 100% in Defensive stance and survive the fall with 10% HP. Not anymore. They increased the fall distance to kill you without a slow fall device.

A good idea is to make yourself a parachute cloak before you use it, just in case you end up in the sky... like I did... the first time I used it... and didn't realize what could happen. :)

This is extremely useful for endgame hunters with access to Mount Hyjal (the CoT raid instance, not the actual Mount). Not only does it let you get there fast, but once you have the required rep you can easily buy the epic arrows/bullets from CoT as well.

I have always wondered that myself. Goblin engineers make the transporter to Everlook, and the gnomish engineers make the portal to Gadgetzan. Wouldn't it be the other way around, as Gadgetzan is pretty much THE city for goblins on Kalimdor, and Everlook is (more or less) a gnomish city?

Got it with 260 Gnomish Engineer, and was only friendly with Gadgetzan. Too bad it`s worth less now, being as though you can teleport to the Caverns of Time via Zephyr.

I don't know if this is just coincidence or not but it seems like every time this device has dropped me from a deadly height the last tick of the spell detail while you are casting it is red in color as opposed to the blue of the normal ticks. This may be an early warning device.

These have lost some of their use now, as you can now use a portal from Dalaran to get to the Caverns of Time. Still fun to use for their possible side-effects every now and then, though.

Tried all possible ways from teleporting, logging, Mojo etc.

I was a gnome with orc female debuff, none of these changed the orc female model. Would like a second person to confirm this is now the case.

I made this trinket today. I like it.
Getting the mats was do-able for a lvl 47 rogue.
Only the elemental air was hard to get.
Droprate is far lower in desolace then stated in wowhead.

And I made the parachute cloak few days ago :D.

Teleporting with this device can be deadly, and not only because of the chance of falling a mile to your death.
If you are at least hated with Gadzetzan, the guards will swarm you and keep netting you. Your best bet is to try to run out the north door and run in the direction of Steemwheedle Port. I usually die, just because the guards spam their nets.
Rogues might have it easy in this situation.

As of patch 3.2 this item is no longer a trinket. It takes up a slot in your inventory now, but it frees up a trinket slot for something more valuable, so... w00t!

This has gotten really useful since i started doing the Venomhide Ravasaur dailies. Since you must get to Tanaris to use your hatchling i use this to get there then just hearth back to Dalaran after doing the quest for the day. But do use Parachute cloak or similar if you have it or you will eventually fall to your death.

Even though the quests can be in any of the lower areas of Kalimdor, 2 of the ones i have gotten is in Tanaris so getting there makes most sense. Just use the FP if for example you get the one about dino meat.

I just made this item and when i tried to use it it says "this item cannot be equiped and when you grab it while your character pane is open it says it goes in your trinket slots... Does anybody else have this problem?

I love this thing! I use it all the time, especially since I get to skip the desert run from Caverns of Time to Gadgetzan. Note of warning though, it does seem to lull you into a false sense of security. I had used it 4-5 times in a row and no malfunction! So I went to use it again and, not wanting to wait for the CD on my parachute cloak, just went ahead and transported...SPLAT! Not a far run back to your body but it does hurt your gear >: (

As of Patch 4.0.3 it would appear the trainers no longer teach this. I just learned Gnomish Engineering and this nor the other transporter was made available to learn from the Gnomish Engineering trainer in Dalaran.

Can someone verify this?

Since there are no more portals to major cities in Dalaran no one will be hearthing there to use the CoT portal to get to Tanaris. That means this thing just got a whole lot more useful. It was always a great way to get to Tanaris for various reasons but with Uldum being one zone over and having no teleport (unlike Mount Hyjal, Vasjir, and Deepholme) I can see this getting a lot more use from my engineer.

This and the other three engineering Transporters are all "Binds When Used".

Meaning, you can auction these items to other engineers who meet the requirements but who don't want to invest the time to farm the mats (several of which now have an insanely low drop-rate post-Cata)

So as stated above it was a good idea to be naked before teleporting if you have reputation issues( e.g. Hated )
with Gadgetzan to spare yourself the repairs. I've been doing that for some time but lately I have noticed that If you
are hated the device doesn't teleport you on the port pad but instead has you falling outside Gadgetzan and you
can also mount up while falling similarly to the Wormhole transport spot above the lake in Borean Tundra.

Can someone else test if the neutral or above with Gadgetzan people port inside the town like usually or is this a general change?

Edited: Also if the transporter malfunctions you will be found on the transport pad and killed by the guards (if you are hostile with Gadgetzan). I found out the hard way.

Core of earths are easy to get also. Go to northwest corner in Silius (sp?) and kill the earth elementals there.. there are tons of earth elementals for you to kill there and i got 6 core of earth in a little more than half an hour..

I had 'Evil Twin' and no Warlocks could summon me.

As soon as 'Evil Twin' was gone - summon away.

Interesting the Summons used a shard, and the Warlocks thought the summon was sucessful, until I never showed up (and I got no message either)...

Doesn't matter how much hp you have, falldamage is a % of your maxhp, depending on length of fall, so if you would take 120dmg from a fall at 100maxhp, and get another 100 maxhp, you'll just suffer 240 dmg instead.
I'm atleast 99.9% sure of that.
Parachute cloak/rogue safe fall skill/druid cat wannaberogue safe fall skill/mage slow fall skill/(priest levitation?) might save you. Also there's some parachutes you can buy at the top of a mountain in Feralas, but then to get down without dying you need to either use it or hearthstone or any of the above posted thingamajiggers.

After several deaths I started unequiping all my gear before use. It seems like I die less (1:4 maybe) than i used to (5:6).

Parachute doesn't work. I haven't tried the harm prevention belt.

In any case... I think even with the death it is a lot better than hiking/flying or even waiting on a zep when I need to get back to that continent. I just wish I could use the everlook one.

If you're a warrior you don't have to worry- provided you are at max HP (or 91% or higher I think) and are in defensive stance. THe most damage that you can take is 90% of your max HP from falling becuase of the defensive stance damage reduction. It works!

(frost)mages can use ice block before hitting the ground, that 'resets' the fall distance, so the fall only counts from where you ice blocked, in other words, do it right before you hit the ground and you'll receive very little to no damage

As only engineers can use this device you will also be able to make the parachute cloak. So when you equip your transporter ALSO equip your parachute cloak...same 30 sec cooldown before use.

Not all players have room enough in their bag to strip before teleporting.

The parachute cloak have saved me from 1 gold repair bill severeal times.

Only problem is server lag or something...you might end up dead when you finaly see yourself again:)

But this lag issue have only happended to my once..that was way way long ago.

There is a mod called Outfitter and it lets you switch outfits in a split second. So if you get the mod, and click "birthday suit" outfit, none of your gear will get damaged, and you don't have to race the clock taking off you gear.

I love this thing!

Though the mats where a nuisance to get, it's worth it. As a mage, I can get anywhere relatively quickly, except for Southern Kalimdor...but after making this, I'm golden.

If I get tired of questing in Outlands and decide to go farm some thorium (for more Steam Tonks, woo hoo!), just equip this and get to Un'Goro in a flash.

As for failures:
Uses: 11
Safely, no debuffs: 5
Turned into Kobold: 1
Evil Twin: 4
Falling: 1

Mages: If it fails, blink before you hit the ground.

This is a nice gadget to have if you want a quick trip to the Caverns of Time. Honestly, the entire trip from Outlands to Tanaris takes a long time, and this would cut it down considerably.

one time i used this and it did the falling malfunction, but something weird happened...

i was in an exact copy of WoW (or at least Kalimdor) except there was just me, no NPCs or mobs, not even any objects.

being alliance i thought id go to orgrimmar and still nothing... took some screens while i was there.. took me ages cuz the lifts at the south barrens/1k needles weren't there (being objects, they had disapeared...)

eventually i used HS to IF and the world went normal again... took many screens... ill upload a few sometime

anyone else had this happen?

just made it at lvl 36 in ironforge and did not know what it would do when i used it.when i used the trinket it droped me about 100feet up in the air but lucky me i use the engineering slow fall cloak on my hunter and made a Ultrasafe landing my first go.was fun.

I would say this teleport trinket is like way more better then the gnomish one ( everlook ). When you hit lvl 70 and wanna do heroics or normal instances like BM or old hillsbrath its a pain to get to tanaris.

This trinket makes it ALOT easyer to do the instance specially if you gona summon. And the 4 hour cooldown isn't that big of a problem to you wont need to go there twice in 4 hours i think.

The everlook version of this trinket is really not that helpfull if you ask me. Exodar and darnasses ( if you are a druid moonglade ) are serieus close to that spot.

Even if the trinket fails it still ports you to tanaris. Would be really iritating if you would fall somewhere els like STV dead on the ground :P. So this just perfect

Just as I was teleporting, I saw the words "Power transfer malfunction" when I arrived in Gadgetzan, I was transformed into a murloc, but with my load time i had about 3 seconds left on the debuff so i couldn't get a screenshot... next time i'll be a bit faster.

Really a nice toy to have. On the two times i used it, i died one and had " the evil twin buff" the other. Like people stated, even if you die, it worth it for the time gain ( no more boat ! ) Would have loved a lesser cooldown though, 4 hours is huge :/

Lesson: If you do not have any 'slow fall' spells, try to equip a parachute cloak.

Very nice device to have. It is not worth the investment if you are obessed with your money or do not have alot of it, but other then that, this is a very nice and reliable trinket for a second hearthstone. It DOES DO GEAR DMG, when it kills you, but as stated, the repair cost for 1 death is worth the quick trip to the other continent, when you are in a hurry. ->Just take off all your gear before using this device<-, that is what I do now, don't even have a repair cost when it kills me. I've used this device 4 times so far, 2 of which its dropped me to my death, and 2 of which its worked. As long as it gets me to gadget, I really care less if it kills me, just strip your character before firing, and you won't have anything on to take dmg hit. Extremely good device, as I'm always in a hurry. I've enjoyed this for my ZF groups, as I no longer had to set my hearth to gadget, I could leave that set to IF, and just use this. Going into 50s, will be able to use this to get to goro or Ferales very quickly, basically anything on the bottem of that continent. Goblin version is the same, for the top of the continent.

i'm wontering, why is there only telaported to this town? should be one in every neutral town. i mean, there IS after all, a telaport device in all thos citys. i wanna warp to Booty bay, or winterspring too. O well, this thing rox. used it like 10 times, and have only fell to my death twice. Have had evil twin a few times, and have been turned into a trog a few times. If it malfunctions, does it trigger the cooldown ?

So far i have done this:

1) Safely Teleported (Woot!)
2) Fallen to my Death (Boo!)
3) received Teleporter Malfunction, turned me into a kobold and gnoll and then a kobold again (Fun!)

and just now:

4) Evil Twin, "You have been replaced by your evil twin!" (Woot!) so far i have not noticed anything about this debuff except that it lasts 2 hours

Anybody ever think to maybe keep a Parachute Cloak handy for those 100-foot drops?

There's a lot of confusion about this currently. There are basically four types of items that can be made by engineers:

BoE items that can be used by any engineer and traded.
BoP items that can be crafted by a specific specialization, but used by any engineer
Items that require a specific specialization to use.
BoP items that can be crafted by an engineer, but can be used even after engineering is dropped

Gnomish Engineering allows you to craft these items:

If your intent is to switch to Goblin after crafting all the goodies (by dropping and re-leveling Engineering), you should probably craft all of these items, but you must craft 侏儒护目镜, 侏儒作战小鸡, 侏儒死亡射线, and 发条娃娃 (these are BoP) or you will lose access to these items permanently (unless you drop and re-level gnomish engineering again.

安全传送器：加基森 and 世界放大器 cannot be used by a non-gnomish engineer, so you can skip crafting these if you're planning on switching.

NOTE: 侏儒死亡射线 doesn't require Engineering to use, so technically, you could level Engineering to craft this item, and drop it and still be able to use it.

Goblin Engineering allows you to craft these items:

空间撕裂器 - 永望镇 cannot be used by a non-goblin engineer, so you can skip crafting these if you're planning on switching.

NOTE: 地精龙枪 doesn't require Engineering to use, so technically, you could level Engineering to craft this item, and drop it and still be able to use it.

After hitting high enough level of Gnomish Engineering (some guides say 260 some say 285, I did it at 300), you can speak to Jhordy Lapforge in Gadgetzan and he will teach you this recipe for free. He can be found at 52.3, 26.9.
