Mechanical Hunter Pets
Mechanicals
are a family of Hunter pets that were added in the Legion expansion. They differ from most other pet families in that many of them are challenges that require some extra effort to tame. In addition, only

s can tame Mechanicals innately. Other races will need to acquire the

Taming Requirements

The Mechanical family is not exotic, which means all 3 Hunter specs can tame them. Most Mechanicals scale to the player's level to preserve their individual challenges, any exceptions will be noted below.
Mechanical Pet Taming Guides
Navigate with the tabs below to find full guides on how to find and tame each and every one of the Mechanical pets that were added in Legion and Battle for Azeroth. There are multiple colors of Mechanical Tigers, Arachnodrones, Mechanowolves, Mechanostriders, and Iron Juggernauts. Other unique Mechanical pets can be found in the "Other Mechanical Pets" tab.
Mechanical Tigers (Sabertron)
Mechanical tigers are the newest Mechanical pet type added in Battle for Azeroth.

comes in copper, gold, green, orange, and red colors, but only the red color is tameable at any time. The other colors are only available when the
刃兽王
world quest is active, and the color available will be different every time. It could be a long time before you get the color you want because there is no guarantee when the quest will pop, or what color it will be for that iteration.
How to tame
Sabertron is located inside a cave on the largest island off the coast of Stormsong Valley (cave entrance is at 35, 32.7).
Inside is a Sabertron of each color but they will be inactive at first. In order to activate one and make it tameable, you must kill the

inside the cave. Once you kill the technician, he activates Sabertron as he dies. You can tame it from there with no special tricks (other than worrying about others trying to kill it for the quest).
By default, the technician will always activate the red Sabertron (whenever there is no Sabertron world quest active).
When the
刃兽王
world quest is active, the technician will activate a random color of Sabertron other than red. This color will remain the same for the whole time the world quest is active, so you can't repeatedly kill him hoping for the color you want. At this point, it is not known if the colors will be on a rotation or be truly random.
Killing all 5 colors also grants the
前进！刃兽王！
achievement.
The Sabertron Technician (pictured above) may not be there when you first arrive. Wait a bit and he should spawn. There have also been some reports in the comments of Sabertron not activating properly when the technician is killed. If this happens to you, try killing the technician directly on top of Sabertron, or jumping to another realm through the group finder and killing him there.

Cave Entrance
Arachnodrones
Arachnodrones are a new breed of Mechanical pets added in patch 7.1. These robotic spiders come in 3 colors -- Copper, Silver, and Gold -- and feature unique animations and effects. Like most other Mechanical Hunter pets, these are not simply "walk up and tame" affairs. You'll have to fight your way through the upgraded Alcaz Island in Dustwallow Marsh and acquire at least one

to interact with the Arachnodrones.
Step One: Killing Doctor Weavil
Go to Alcaz Island in

. The island is newly updated for patch 7.1 and is now populated by level 110 robots and other potent defenses. Flying is not possible on the island. If you get there and see no robots, talk to

outside of Theramore and ask her to show you Theramore before it was destroyed. This should properly phase you.
At the center of the island, inside the largest building on the top floor, you'll find
维维尔博士
, who has a chance to drop an

when killed.
You'll have to fight your way past some of his minions on the lower floor, and his guard dog. Or you could just go in Hunter style by running past everything and feigning death.
Doctor Weavil has some deadly abilities, but you should be able to mostly ignore these if you are max level. We're still listing them here for those attempting it at a lower level.
Important Ability #1

: Stay at least 10 yards away from Doctor Weavil to avoid the damage component of this ability (you will still be stunned). Easiest way is to pet tank him in the far corner of his lab and then stand near the stairs to outrange it.

: Every 15-20 sec, Weavil will cast this and hit everyone in the room. Each cast adds a stack of

, and at 10 stacks you will die instantly. The only way to reset the stacks is to use

to block one of the volleys. I recommend doing this at around 6 or 7 stacks. This should let the debuff fall off and restart. However, if your DPS isn't quick enough your pet will still die at 10 stacks. Be ready to resurrect it.
Multiple people can tap him and his respawn time is about 5 minutes. The drop rate on
带电钥匙
is fairly low, so it might take a few kills to get one.
You can usually find
带电钥匙
s on the auction house if you don't want to farm one yourself.
Step Two: Pick an Arachnodrone to tame

: Found outside the building on the nortern part of the island. Surrounded by robots and patrols which you need to kill before engaging.
白银机械蛛
: Located underground in a prison cell. The entrance to the prison is right outside of Doctor Weavil's building on the ground. Go inside, head to the end of the hall, turn right and swim under water to the other side. There are lots of robots to kill along the way.
黄金机械蛛
: Located on the southern end of the island inside the watch tower. The tower is guarded by elite security bots, and the most deadly obstacle is the turret inside of the tower. This turret must be killed before you try taming. While the turret can kill you in just a few hits, it does hardly any damage to your pet. Pet tank and DPS it down.
Step Three: Taming an Arachnodrone
Walk up to one of the Arachnodrones in melee range and use your

with it selected. This will make it attackable.
The Arachnodrone must be brought below 30% health in order to tame.
Very Important:
Interrupt

before the cast finishes. If you don't interrupt it, the Arachnodrone will heal to full health. This won't occur more often than the cooldown of your interrupt.
Watch for the
狂野意志
buff to be removed at 30% health. When this happens, dismiss your current pet and begin your tame.
The

is consumed on use and you'll need to get another one to tame a different color. Respawn time is very quick.

GU-4RD-3R型
is a green mechanowolf added in patch 7.1. You can find him in

on Alcaz Island, inside the largest building in the center of the island. He is protected by
狂野意志
, which prevents taming until health drops below 30%.
Go to Alcaz Island in Dustwallow Marsh. The island is newly updated for patch 7.1 and is now populated by level 110 robots and other potent defenses. Flying is not possible on the island. If you get there and see no robots, talk to

Keep your current pet summoned and DPS him down normally, using your pet to tank.
When his health drops below 30% the

buff should be removed. Dismiss your current pet, pop
灵龟守护
, and begin your tame.
Respawn time is approximately 5 minutes.

Friender
弗兰德
is a blue Mechanowolf found inside
诺莫瑞根
. He is found inside the Engineering Labs and will be sleeping when you arrive. In order to wake him up, you must solve a series of button puzzles on the walls of this room. Note that only level 100+ players can actually click the buttons to solve the puzzles.

and jump down at The Hall of Gears as seen on your map. Next, head the Launch Bay and jump down there too. Now head to the Engineering Labs. See map directions below if you need help.
At the Engineering Labs, take the elevator to the lower level. You should see
弗兰德
sleeping in the middle of the room.
On 3 of the walls, you will see a series of buttons. There is a 6, 7, and 8-button puzzle. All 3 must be solved (in any order) to wake up Friender.
In order to solve these puzzles, you must light up all of the buttons. Clicking a button will turn it on/off, as well as turn on/off the buttons surrounding it. As these puzzles start in random states with each instance reset, there is no way to make a definitive guide.
A trick to easily completing these puzzles is to find the first unlit button, then click the button to its right. Keep doing this (left to right) for any unlit buttons and eventually the puzzle should be solved. If the unlit button is on the far right, then start over and click the first button on the left. You may need to loop through it several times to get all of the buttons lit.
Once the 3 puzzles are solved,
弗兰德
will become hostile and will start running around the room.
Friender will kill you in 1 or 2 hits, and cannot be crowd controlled. The trick here is to cast
灵龟守护
right before casting
驯服野兽
. This lets you survive the hits and complete the tame.

Note: On rare occasions the 8-button puzzle cannot be solved as it will start in a bugged state. If you're ending up in a state where all the buttons are lit except for the far right or left, then you have a bugged puzzle. In this case, you need to leave the instance and reset it (this will reset the puzzles).
Treble and Rush

are Mechanowolves that must be literally tracked down, similar to some of the rare pets from Mists of Pandaria. Both pets are invisible but leave a trail of oil puddles wherever they walk. The key is to find these oil puddles somewhere along their patrol routes (reference the maps below). While these pets are rare, they do not have a very long respawn timer. The challenge is finding them, not camping them.
To make it easier to see puddles of oil on the ground, go to your graphics options and turn "Ground Clutter" to its lowest setting.
Reference the maps below to locate each pet. These maps are rough approximations of each path.
Once they reach the end of their path, they turn around and move in the opposite direction along the same path.
Once you locate the trail of oil puddles, follow it until it ends. If you see an oil puddle appear in front of you, then you know you're headed in the right direction. If instead a puddle of oil disappears, then you're headed in the wrong direction.
In order to reveal them, you need to cast
照明弹
. Don't cast it right on top of the last puddle, but cast it where you think the next puddle may appear. The key is to anticipate their next position.
Once revealed, use some form of crowd control such as
冰冻陷阱
or
束缚射击
in order to lock them down, as once they leave the area of your Flare they become invisible again.
Once crowd controlled, you can begin your tame!

Proto Strider
The

is an unpainted Mechanostrider found inside Ironwing Cavern in
洛克莫丹
. This is a common pet (the cave is filled with them) and requires no trick to tame. They are level 17-18.

is a level 18 blue and red Mechanostrider found inside Ironwing Cavern in
洛克莫丹
. He is a rare spawn with a respawn time of approximately 1 hour. He can be found patrolling the cave system and runs quite fast (you won't miss him!). There is no trick to the tame other than locating him.

is a unique purple/blue/yellow Mechanostrider found in Gnomeregan. Gaining access to the locked room holding this mechanostrider requires you to collect the

and begin killing enemies inside. All trash mobs have a chance of dropping

4. Head to the Launch Bay and kill the

boss, who drops the

. If the sword drops, loot it and proceed to the next step. If you do not get the sword, it's time to leave Gnomeregan and reset the instance so you can kill him again. Once outside, right click your character's portrait and reset all instances. Keep killing and resetting until you get the
电刑器的腿
. It has a 29% chance to drop so it shouldn't take too long.
5. On the same platform as
电刑器6000型
is the

. Interact with it to upgrade your

6. Jump down to the lower level of the Launch Bay and head to the Engineering Labs. Take the elevator to the lower level of the Engineering Labs.
7. In the Engineering Labs, interact with the

to upgrade your

to a
彩色穿孔卡片
.
8. Head back to the Dormitory area at the beginning of the dungeon (same area as step 3). Here you will find the Matrix Punchograph 3005-E inside the doorway circled above. Interact with it and use your

to unlock the door.
9. Congrats! You've made it to the
感性的机械陆行鸟
. Now, equip your
电刑器的腿
and begin attacking the mechanostrider with it.
10. You must continue to attack until the weapon procs, which will remove the
弹性电路
buff from the mechanostrider. Once that buff is removed, you are free to begin taming! Sometimes the weapon can take a while to proc, so you may need some healing from
意气风发
or a healing potion.
Iron Juggernauts
Iron Juggernauts come in four different colors: Gunmetal Grey, Sea Teal, Cobalt Blue, and Verdant Green. They represent very first Hunter pets which actually need to be crafted! There is no profession requirement, but you must venture into the

raid to collect all of the Juggernaut pieces yourself.
Quick facts
Requires level 90+
You can only craft one Juggernaut per week (the boss drops can only be looted weekly).
Boss drops are found in Normal, Heroic, or Mythic Siege of Orgrimmar (not LFR).
Bosses only drop 1 part, regardless of how many Hunters are present.
If you don't see the boss drop, make sure everyone in your group loots the boss. Then it should show up on the corpse.
As of patch 7.1,

can now be soloed, so any level 110 Hunter should have no problem taming an Iron Juggernaut on their own. Simply shoot him twice with the same cannon to bring him down.

Paint buckets can be looted in any difficulty. They are tiny and easy to miss. You can carry as many of these as you want.

Crafting and Taming
Once you have collected all 3 materials, use the bucket of paint to create one of the following in your desired color:

Using the Deactivated Juggernaut summons the tameable juggernaut beside you. It will start as neutral and won't attack you until you begin taming. It is a very simple tame with no tricks. You must be within Siege of Orgrimmar to summon it.
A-Me 02
A-Me 02
is a mechanical gorilla found in
安戈洛环形山
in the back of the cave at Fungal Rock. If you've quested here before, you may remember doing some quests for her counterpart,
A-Me 01
. At the back of the cave, you will find
A-Me 02
lying on a rock, surrounded by water. In order to tame her, you must remove her
钢铁意志
buff by bringing her down to 30% health.
Her melee attacks will kill you quickly, so use abilities such as
震荡射击
to kite her around the cave as you DPS. You must keep a constant distance.
Turn off your pet's
低吼
and establish threat yourself before you send your pet in to attack, or else she will kill your pet.
When her
钢铁意志
buff disappears at 30% health, you are ready to tame. At this point you need to dismiss your existing pet, then use
灵龟守护
immediately before taming to survive the hits.

Tekton
牧羊木匠
is a mechanical exploding sheep found in
艾尔文森林
. You must use a flying mount to reach this area. Tekton is found among a bunch of other sheep critters, so type /tar tekton if you're having trouble finding it. Tekton will explode with a knockback if it reaches you during the tame process, so use something like a
冰冻陷阱
or
束缚射击
to lock it down before you begin taming. If Tekton explodes, it will take some time before it respawns again, but it is not an actual rare mob.

. It is accessed with a flying mount in the court of Hellfire Citadel (not inside the raid). There you will find it guarded by 2

Weaponized Rabbot
The

is a rare mech bunny found in
丹莫罗
. It is identical to the pet that brand new Gnome Hunters begin with, giving you an alternative way to obtain this particular pet. It has a light bulb for a tail and does a little roundhouse kick for its attack animation. What more do you need? You will find it in New Tinkertown, at the south side of the building at Crushcog's Arsenal. There is no special trick to taming, but it has a respawn time of several hours.

. They are level 17-18 common NPCs, and there is no trick to taming them. You will find them among some Mechanostriders throughout the cave.

at the Secret Lab. He will need to be summoned by activating some machinery in a certain order, and can be summoned as much as you want (so don't worry about competing with other Hunters).
Head to the Secret Lab and make your way inside the largest building at the north end of the lab. In the back room you will find "An Intern's Journal" book on the ground. Click on it to read the book.
Head back outside and activate the following devices in this exact order (see image below for visual reference).
Click the lever labeled "Thorium Manifold."
Click the button labeled "Anti-Matter Containment."
Click the lever labeled "Flux Containment Release."
Click the console labeled "Hydro-Sync Router."
坚果
will be summoned nearby. You will know you were successful if one of the goblins yells that NUTZ has spawned.

before you begin taming to survive the hits.

Why would you make it so goblin and gnome hunters can only take mechanical all pets just to.allow every hunter to tame mechanical pets... That is a bad move.

Great guide, thank you for posting! I've already tamed the Weaponized Rabbot (I logged out last night at its spawn so I could tame it asap, got it when I logged in 10 minutes after patch went live!) and Sentient Mechanostrider thanks to you. Still looking for Optimo as he doesn't seem to be up on my realm yet.
For anyone who may be as confused as I was about the door you're meant to open with the Prismatic Punch Card for the Sentient Mechanostrider, here's a helpful
video
showing the whole process for getting to this mob as well as the map location for the door. I spent 20 minutes looking for the door before deciding to check YouTube, so I hope this helps!

I did the Sentient Mechano Strider at level 30 (full heirloom gear), it really didn't damage me at all. Got the proc on the 4th or 5th auto-attack then started the tame. Very painless.
I did queue for the dungeon, so most of it was cleared out (we did all the bonus bosses), but even after that, there was stuff I needed to kill in order to hit 30, and to clear the path. Just pulling one or two at a time with my pet's taunt on, it wasn't really an issue (again, full heirloom gear).
Just follow this guide and you won't have any issues getting this pet.

As of 7.0.3, you need to be level 100 in order for the buttons in Gnomeregan to be active in order to tame Friender.

so heres a random question... if i make a gnome hunter (or race change to a gnome hunter) and then tame a mechanical pet or two.. then race change to another race (such as human), do i still get to keep/use those mechanical pets previously tamed or will they be unusable till i get the imprint matrix?

If you don't want to mess with the adds near Axebeak, you can tame from on top of the boxes just to the east of where Axebeak is at. Then, dismiss the pet, feign death and you're good to go.

I know for a fact the paint can be looted in LFR. I got them on 7/22/16 while soloing in LFR to get Thok.

The puzzle is actually solvable without random clicking. Each button/light you press effects the two on either side of it. Because of this, you have to pay attention to the ends and turn one of them on first, then skip a light and turn on the next. This will let you light them all pretty quickly.

If you are interested in getting A-Me 02. If you go lone wolf or pet-less, you can weaken it to 30% at ranged without her getting up/moving, then move in afterwards to use aspect of the turtle and tame - you don't need to kite then.

A-Me 02 is all wrong, put your pet away auto shoot or anything that does not involve a pet or aggro at a distance, he will just lie there. once the debuf drops off "Iron Will" pop turtle tame done. takes a few minutes but there is no fight at all. I'm on live doing this.

Sentient Mechano Strider.... Horde Goblin Hunter, to get into Gnomeregan I used the Teleporter from Grom'gol base camp, I am an Engineer not sure if that makes a difference. Works with none engineer also.

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with the range of tameable mechanicals available. The new ones are quite cool, but what about the dozens of awesome mech models already in the game? Think Gnomeregan, Fizzcrank Airfield etc. Sadly, it seems they have decided that only mechs which are supposed to resemble animals can be hunter pets.

Last night while leveling my Goblin hunter "beast mastery" i was able to tame A-Me 02 without him even attacking me, just auto attack and dont use anything on him but cobra shot and concussive shot when the buff is gone tame away. not sure if this is a bug or intended but if you use dire beast or get too close he will start attacking you.

Hi guys.
Within the first week of Legion release I was hunting for the Juggernaut.
So I went in

Take this with a Highmountain-sized grain of salt until it's verified more thoroughly (more confirmations, confirmations for both Treble and Rush, and optimally confirmations from tracking them through a path end about-face), but at least on the westward-bound eastern end (so heading north-ish towards the cave north of Skyhorn) os his route the oil puddles Treble leaves behind are oriented almost like they're actual oil-filled pawprints (kinda' sorta'). So in the example oil puddle picture above Treble would be heading forward(-ish, it's not a precise orientation if it's even one at all) - there's a deeper dent in one of the two longer sides of the puddle and at least in the few I found (stupid phasing) before I tamed Treble a little while ago that seemed to be on the trailing side of the puddle (this also matches what I remember from trying to find him last night, but I was half-asleep and annoyed that someone else beat me to him so I'm not counting those memories as completely trustworthy :-P ).
TLDR - The oil puddles *SEEM* to be oriented such that the deeper dent on one of the longer sides is on the side the mechanowolf is coming *from*.

Will it be possible for other races example humans to tame mechanical pets without engineering later on or is that still not confirmed ? Or, is it only engineers and gnome/goblins able to do that task ?

So I went after the mecha gorilla thinking "well crap he's going to be easy" not expecting him to be level 110 and gold.
After 15 attempts, I finally got him.
I just gave up on using my pet and trying to dismiss him and tame the mech gorilla, I just solo-ed it as a BM. Kitted him through the entire place and then outside. Like I said it took me 15 tries but damnit I got him.
I think I shall name him "Cyber Winston".
The funny part was, there were a lot of horde players in that cave. They would jump in to help and this freaking thing was one shotting them. It was rather funny.

Important: The iron juggernaut can be "assembled" anywhere, but you must be in SoO to call him for taming! Back to SoO I go now....

"Important Ability #2 - Drudge Bolt Volley"
If you can interrupt 2 casts in a row of Drudge Bolt Volley, the debuff should reset on both you and your pet. As BM hunter I was able to use Counter Shot (interrupt) on one, and Intimidation (stun) on a second one.

As an aside: I just tamed A-Me 02 and it was very simple. I had a high level (106) Disc Priest put PW: Shield on me and keep it on then began attacking without another pet out. A-Me never got off her rock and once she was at 30% I tamed her without ever drawing aggro.

I love my Worgen BM hunter, and the mechanical pets are just plain cool. I hate to do it, but I have to rewrite a nursery rhyme.

On Friender - I went into Gnomer and only one panel had lights. Solved that one panel and Friender was on me. The other two panels the buttons were all dark. So I wasn't prepared as I thought I would have the other two sets of buttons to deal with first.. Dead in two shots. Came back and he was running around the room.
Like it said, easy tame. Just pop Aspect of the Turtle and Immediate start your tame.

So, for those doing this with a friend, we just found that one final component of taming these beauties, at least with the spiders, is that the mechanical beastie
must be attacking you for you to be able to perform the tame
. If it is hitting your friend, or trapped, your tame will fail repeatedly.
Whether bug or intentional, I'm uncertain.

FYI for taming Friender: Make sure you immediately activate tame beast after activating your aspect of the turtle or it will end before your tame is complete and you will eat it...

I don't know if something changed in 7.2, but when trying to tame Model GU-4RD-3R Dr. Weavil and sometimes some of his workers keep join the fight. This didn't happen to me before the patch.

As of today (Patch 7.3, Saturday 16th September 2017) it would seem the 8 button puzzle has been removed altogether - I could only find the 6 and 7 button puzzles, and upon solving them Friender leapt to life. Popped Aspect of the Turtle, used Tame Beast, and I had a new friend :)

The Electrocutioner Leg drop from Electrocutioner 6000 seems to be bugged. This item is needed to tame the Sentient Mechanostrider. The boss drops 3 items - Electrocutiner Leg, Electrocutioner Lagnut, and Spidertank Oilrag. Wowhead says each of those 3 items have a 29% drop rate. I just finished the 30th kill of Electrocutioner 6000 and i have received the Electrocutioner Lagnut all 30 times. I am not good enough at stats to figure out the chances of that but it has to be somewhere in the 1 in a millions range. When you look at each of these items on Wowhead it does say you must be a certain class specialization to win these items. For the Electrocutioner Leg it says you should be a melee class for the item to drop - but.... I have seen it drop for hunters though on youtube videos and this guide says it is still a 29% drop for hunters. Please give advice.

I have tried my hardest to get Rush. I followed the path for 4 hours and I kept finding the puddles and following them. But after 3 or 4 I would look around and no see anymore and no more would show up and then the ones I knew about would fade away. I only found them 4 times in 4 hrs and it was the most maddening thing I've ever done in this game. They're so spaced out and hard to see (I removed ground clutter) I never once saw them appear so I didn't know where he'd be. It was so maddening, how are you suppose to actually follow that BS

What isn't mentioned here is the invisible 1-shot mines that are dotted slightly inside the Alcaz Island entrance. You better keep flare handy...you will be using it A LOT.
Update: The mines are NOT detectable by Flare.

I just tried to tame another Juggernaut in Siege of Orgrimmar and it won't let me. It says this creature is too high level. Huh? I've tamed 2 other ones no problem. The other times I was level 110. Now I'm 113. Could that be why? Can they not be tamed past level 110?

It’s nice that the sabertron are tameable. Now if only they would make a mechanical saber cat mount. It might also be worth mentioning in the guide that even though there are two other new mechanical creatures in the world, neither are tamable. The V-300 sentry which is a yellow or orange mechanowolf is not tamable and neither is the black rare elite mechano saber in the same area. Both mobs are in tira garde sound near the hot spring. I just went there to check and I get a message that says, "that creature is not tamable."

Fairly difficult to tame these now @120, they simply die way to quickly with decent gear. Also, the proximity mines can be found by using Track: Mechanical.

Just rez during battle cuz the channeling doesnt get interrupted and the heal spells work fine. But feeding my pet seems useless now I don't have to keep it happy with food in order to keep it as my pet and not attack me like it use to do.

TRreble is 100% level 40 and you must be that high to tame him. He is not scaling. I am timewalking and just tried at level 35. You must be level 40 or higher.

this is not how you get N.U.T.Z. I did exactly this, even watched a YouTube video did everything exactly, he never spawned and you can not try again at all
