Getting there won’t be easy. Dr. Weavil kind of went nuts and covered Alcaz Isle with anti-aircraft artillery (so you can’t fly), proximity mines (so you can’t run in a straight line), and defensive turrets (so you can’t think straight). Make it past those and you’ll still have to overcome his interns: Drudge Gnomes who mindlessly work for the little big guy.

And you'll also need 带电钥匙.

hes under the anti air turrets in the court yard near the building that you kill Doctor Weavil you gotta go underground and then swim down a hole after reaching a dead end there's 2 spider tanks guarding the room that you have to kill first, make sure to save your interrupt for his maximum repair or you'll be fighting him for a while.

To tame this pet you will need the Electrified Key. This item drops from Doctor Weavil at Alcaz Island in Dustwallow Marsh and is consumed on use, so if you want to tame all three coloured spiders, you will need 3 keys. This item is not 100% drop rate so you may have to get a few kills before you can loot it. This pet cannot be tamed until it has less than 30% health and you will need to interrupt before it heals back to full health.

Note: if you get to Alcaz island and find that there are no mobs or npcs, it is probably because you have done the quests and scenario for the destruction of Theramore and are phased to the area. To fix this, visit Zidormi on the bridge near Theramore and ask her to send you back in time to before Theramore was destroyed. You can then go back to the island and see everything! You will need to do this each time you enter the zone.

What a wonderfull requirement, needing an NPC to tame it. Just awesome...

Went there today, again and again the same result: over a dozen horde, killing any aliance that comes near the NPC. Just great.

Not sure if this is the best place for this question but I am having trouble taming this beast. I keep going to the spider location, with a key, and fighting it down to below 30% health. However, once I try to tame it, the taming stops after about 2 seconds and nothing happens. Anyone know why this might be? I have the ability to tame mechanical beasts for my hunter but can't seem to tame any of the spiders.

It doesn't appear to cast spiders web, like actual spider pets. I thought that this one might, but I don't think it does, since it's Mechanical.

A few comments to add to the sage advice previously listed:

You can stealth past all the adds using Camoflage/Feign Death if needed. Once in the room, you can wait for CDs as he won't aggro you until you tell him to (assuming you haven't tried and failed before: see below).

I tamed him in Beast Mastery spec (I main Survival) so I could use Wyvern Sting as an alternate interrupt. It's also handy for healing yourself and your pet, as he hits a bit harder than his less subterranean counterparts. Stay away from the front of the spider as he will hit like a truck. Otherwise, the easiest tame on the island.

Keys are not BOP so they can be bought off the AH. Once unlocked, a single arachnodrone will remain unlocked (and red) until tamed. You'll still need one key per arachnodrone though.

Hello, this is Draven(named after Eric Draven - not some cartoon, lol) on Feathermoon. I stayed in MM to tame the Silver Arachnodrone. I got him down a little past 30%, dismissed my Green Wolf, popped Aspect of the Turtle and tamed him :) He was pretty easy. He only tried to "Repair" once so I counter shot him and that was it. GL :)

Troll hunter on Icecrown.... Helped out a dwarf kill Doc, get key, he went silver, like me... I let him tame first, gave him a /clap, and he hung around....so I went to tame, and he murdered it before I could finish taming... on a PvE server. Losing faith in this community.

Easiest way is to fight it with a pet out tanking it until it's <30%, freeze trap it then dismiss your pet and then tame.

OK, so, first off.. I could not find a complete list of all what you had to do and get ready for with this. Most vids did not show it and skipped over a bunch of things leading to this taking me FOREVER. Getting super frustraited and scaring my bf lol.

So what you need to know before hand:

1. Use you'r hunters ability to TRACK MECHANICAL. This way you can SEE the mines on your mini-map so you don't run into them and die.
2. Go SURVIVAL, this will make it worlds easier to get past the turrets and mines. Get the talent CAMOUFLAGE in the Surv. tree and use that to get around mines and turrets. After you'r through the turrets perch yourself somewhere safe for a bit and switch to B\M for the rest.
3. BRING HEALING POTS or a BM hunter pet Spirit beast to heal yourself.
4. Dr. Weavil does NOT have a 100% drop rate on the Key you will need so just keep waiting and killing him till he drops it.(You can also buy the keys off AH, it was 2,200G on my realm for each key.)
5. Once you get the key and go down to where you find your mechanical pet waiting (or whichever one you want.) BE WARNED if you are of a High ilvl and do a ton of dmg, hold back. For me i had to dismiss my pet entirely, use only Beast wrath and just cobra shot it till 30% and use nothing else. I've accidentally killed the mechanical pet 3 times because my murder of crows DoT literally murdered it lol.
6. INTERRUPT THEIR REPAIR CAST!

And that's it! you will get yourself a pet or 4.

There are 4 pets on this island by the way:

Green mechano wolf. - Just befor you get to the Dr.

Silver mechano spider. - In the middle of the compound, outside the Dr,'s house, down into a dungeon, follow the way until you hit a pool, dive down, turn and swim till you surface. Follow the rest of the tunnels to the spider.

Copper mechano spider. - Out from Dr.s house, to the right in the fork of the road, right outside a small house full of little robots on a grate in the open.

Gold mechano spider. - Out of Dr.'s house, straight across up the hill in a stone tower.

All need to go under 30% to tame, spiders need keys to activate.

Probably already well known, but you need to be level 110 to tame the spiders. Attempted this at 100 with a 110 druid friend, taming would stop immediately even though it was under 30% and i had aggro.

Things definitely seemed to have changed in terms of strategy. Feel free to correct me if you've had a different experience, but I found this rather easy. For my fellow hunters looking for the cool pets (assuming you applied the matrix to your non-gnome or goblin hunter):

I boosted my human BM hunter to 120, so I had common tier Trailseeker armor (mostly) and an ilevel of 389, common rating. Current patch 8.2.5

1) Make sure you're in pre-Cata Theramore, which you can phase to by talking to Zidormi (located approx. 55.8, 55.0, just before the long bridge to the west of Theramore Isle). If she doesn't give you a dialogue option, you're probably already in the proper phase.

2) Make sure you have at least 3 open pet slots for tames, 4 if you want Model-GU-4RD-3R, the green mechanowolf.

3) Fly to Alcaz Island. You'll get knocked out of the air 3/4 of the way over the water, but just swim the rest of the way.

4) Neither the elites nor the turrets gave me any problem. Several of the turrets missed, and I only lost about 20% health running by them. Just keep running. When you get to the fork in the path, go right.

5) Doctor Weavil is in the middle building. Kill the NPCs both outside and inside as you like. Model GU-4RD-3R is up the first small flight of stairs, in the little room. Like many other mechanicals, he needs to be down below 30% health to tame. Wasn't too hard for me, I hit him with Cobra Shot until he was low and let Autoshot whittle him down lower until he was tameable.

6) Apparently the drop chance for 带电钥匙 is now 13% off of Weavil, and 0.06% off of the mechanowolf. If you want all three spiders in one shot then you need three keys. Weavil is on the top floor and is not hard to kill; neither are the Former Interns. He seems to have a reliable spawn rate of 5-6 minutes. I just kept killing until I had all three. Took me a little over a dozen kills. He also dropped the Big Red Raygun toy while I farmed, which was cool.

7) For Silver, leave Weavil's house. Immediately to your left is a wooden trapdoor thingamajig. Go down there. Kill mean NPCs, and turn right just before the gate at the end. Swim down into that hole. Kill more mean NPCs. Silver is through the gate to your right. Target Silver and click the key in your bag to activate him, then whittle him down to 30% and tame.

8) Silver will heal to full health. I started the tame before he cast the spell and still tamed him, so it seems that so long as you cast Tame Pet BEFORE he starts the heal, then you're good.

L60 BM Hunter here. I had huge troubles taming this. Even using my BARE HAND it would die before it tamed. It seems to take 2-3 hits for it to drop to low enough health for the tame ability to pop, but then while taming it just still died each time. Finally, I kited it out of the room and right as it healed, I was able to tame.

Gold and Copper I had no issue with however.
