He is in the area below the The Clean Zone, In the Dormitory, you need the prismatic card to enter, so if you have done that before you know what to do, if not, well there are 100's of comments on the Punch Card pages. He does scales to your level. Went in at 100, 104, and 110 and each time he was the same level as I was.

After a few hours of testing things out, I have him as pet now.

Seems as of lately the punch cards are needed by others too, not just engineers.. Hunters need them and there is a lot of info here that does not pertain or is wrong now with the latest builds and patches. So, YOU DO NOT need to be an engineer to tame either Friender or the Sentient Mechanostrider.

This is as of today, on both LIVE, Alpha (last week), and now BETA. You need no special card like engineers do, no special mobs outside the instance, just kill normal mobs in the instance and collect a bunch of Grime-Encrusted Objects.

Order of the punch cards is Yellow, Blue, Red, Prismatic.

1. White Punch Card is no longer in game.
2. Yellow Punch Card is ONLY available from The Sparklematic 5200 by using the Grime-Encrusted Objects.
3. Blue Punch Card is received from the Matrix Punchograph 3005-B at the bottom of the stairs from The Clean Room, in the Dormitory.
4. Red Punch Card is received from the Matrix Punchograph 3005-C on the same platform that Electrocutioner 6000 is at, which is in the Launch Bay.
5. Prismatic Punch Card is received from the Matrix Punchograph 3005-D which is in the Engineering Lab, under where Crowd Pummeler 9-60 is.

NOTE: SPOILER HERE
There are some things you will need to farm if you are going for the Sentient Mechanostrider. So you might have to spend some time working on the Electrocutioner Leg that is a drop from Electrocutioner 6000 that is needed to tame him :)

For anyone who may be as confused as I was about the door you're meant to open with the Prismatic Punch Card, here's a helpful video showing the whole process for getting to this mob as well as the map location for the door. I spent 20 minutes looking for the door before deciding to check YouTube, so I hope this helps!

The minimum level at which this pet can be tamed seems to be 25, as that is the earliest that one can use the Sparklematic to get the punch card. However, once that is out of the way, everything else is easy to do at any level (assuming you can get through the dungeon).

Just a head up, you may need to feign death if your health gets too low when hitting him with the 电刑器的腿, as the proc chance seems kinda low, least for me. Had to feign death and heal up 3 times before it procced and made him tameable.

idk if its the same for demon hunters, but for boosted to 100 chars, the 被清洁器包装过的盒子 sometimes seems empty but in reality contain 乐谱：工匠镇. And this seems to conflict with the 黄色穿孔卡片, so I suggest you complete 动感低音 if you are having trouble with finding the card. Need to have done Tanaan Jungle starter quests for 动感低音 to be available.

Used up 18 脏兮兮的东西 before I did this, and got it in my second one after unlocking jukeboxe.

Bookkeeping / FAQ

Goblins and Gnomes can tame mechanical pets automatically, all other hunters need to get their hands on a 机械联结烙印矩阵 (crafted by engineers). Pet is non-Exotic, so any spec can tame/use.
There is a very detailed description of how to get the mechanostrider models here. Has maps and pictures. I've summarized the relevant bits for the Sentient Mechanostrider below, but if you need further information, that guide has a TON.
But I'm Horde and it HURTS trying to get into 诺莫瑞根 from Dun Morogh...
...then use the teleporter in Grom'gol Base Camp (if you're Neutral+ with Booty Bay)!
(Otherwise, tunnel starts at /way Dun Morogh 31.34 38.04.)

You will need:

Acquire Higher Level Access Card

Blue: Next to the Clean Zone (where you sparkled into a 黄色穿孔卡片) is The Dormitory. Locate a 矩阵式打孔计算机3005-B and convert your Yellow Punch Card to a 蓝色穿孔卡片.
Red: On the same platform as 电刑器6000型 there is a 矩阵式打孔计算机3005-C that will convert your Blue Punch Card to a 红色穿孔卡片.
Prismatic: Jump down to the lower level of the Launch Bay (parachutes are provided by the plane) and proceed to the Engineering Labs. Locate the elevator and take it to the lower level of the labs, where you will find the 矩阵式打孔计算机3005-D that performs the final conversion of your Red Punch Card to a 彩色穿孔卡片.

There was a pet at some point in all of this, right?

Go back up to The Dormitory. This can be done by...
...taking the elevator back up 1 floor in the Engineering Labs and running out the portal on that level (it appears to be a dead end, but click the wall). Re-enter and you'll come in back at the top of the instance.
...taking the elevator back up 1 floor in the Engineering Labs. Stay straight in the hallway instead of turning left back to the Launch Bay to be taken back up to the next level. Head back up the tunnel to The Hall of Gears and The Dormitory will be to the south.
Equip your 电刑器的腿, dismiss any active pet, and make sure you have a free slot to tame.
In The Dormitory, facing the southern wall, enter the top-left hole, which should contain the 矩阵式打孔计算机3005-E. Use your 彩色穿孔卡片 to "Deactivate Security Measures" (ie. make the wall open).
Thwack the Sentient Mechanostrider upon the nose with your mighty 电刑器的腿 until the 弹性电路 buff is removed and immediately 驯服野兽.

Congrats on your new Mechanostrider!

As a heads up to any hunters trying to get the executioner's leg in order to tame the mechanostrider pet: it will not drop anymore now that old dungeons are automatically set to personal loot, as it is not on the loot table for any of the three hunter specializations.

You have to bring a rogue/demon hunter/warrior/paladin/DK/monk with the appropriate loot spec and have them either trade you the sword after looting, or equip it themselves to help you tame.

So I'll be posting this on all the pages related to the taming of the 感性的机械陆行鸟 and the looting of the 电刑器的腿 to help out any potential confused Hunters out there. There are already other comments saying this, but some of them are replies to others, and some are a little vague/indirect.

**AHEM**

YOU CANNOT LOOT THE 电刑器的腿 FROM 电刑器6000型 AS A HUNTER ANYMORE.

Since old dungeons are now personal loot, and you cannot change the looting type, Hunters are only able to loot the ring. I ran Gnomeregan and looted the ring around 8 or 9 times before my dumb brain put the pieces together. To be able to get it to drop you must have a class with you that can cause it to drop, I.E. Warriors, Paladins, Monks, Rogues, Demon Hunters, and Death Knights, and in their proper specializations of course. Not even Survival is able to get the sword to drop, I know, I tried.

So yeah, just wanted to post this to attempt and clear any confusion from Hunters hoping to tame this guy, happy taming :)

Managed to get 电刑器的腿 x2 to drop off 电刑器6000型 on one run. On a lvl 120 (430 ilvl) BM hunter, dual wielding the swords, I was still over 90% HP by the time one of the swords proc'd and tamed him quickly without issue. No pot, no prep, no nothing.

In 9.0 this is now tameable starting at level 10 and scales with player level up to 60, even with Gnomeregan topping out at level 30. I confirmed this with a level 10 Mechagnome Hunter and a level 60 Hunter.

You will still need the Electrocutioner Leg and the Prismatic Punch Card, but the loot off bosses scales to the level of the player, up to 30. At level 10, provided you know how to tame mechanicals, this is tameable. I've uploaded a screenshot from Shadowlands Beta with a level 10 Mechagnome with this tamed.

I got Friender and Sentient Mechanostrider today. When fighting Sentient Mechanostrider I equipped the Electrocutioner Leg and had my pets out to fight with me. I was able to dismiss the pets before the Sentient Mechanostrider was killed and tamed him. I did die before trying this idea. Was at 45 to 50 percent health at the end.

it took me a while to tame, when I found out i needed Electrocutioner Leg, i felt very stupid. i named him Unnamed (bc he doesn't know his name).
