These seem to spawn at certain locations, though I am not sure how long the respawn time is. I've seen one respawn behind the two elite drakes near the 'dock' where Netherwing Transporters land and fly off from, and it respawned in the same exact place. However, getting it required one person distracting the drakes because it was too close to them to open up without aggroing.

I've also seen them drop off the Nethermine Flayers more than once, though it's rather rare most of the time. I have also seen some spawn at different places in the cave, but finding them is tough since the mines are so camped most of the time.

Some other things to note:

1. Like Sasquatchiii said, if you're grouped you roll need/greed on the eggs if you come across one on a mob or 'open' a spawned egg up.

2. They DO stack, I think either to 10 or 20 per stack, but not sure because I only have 5 at the moment.

3. You only get the gold reward once on the FIRST turn in, and any eggs turned in after that just net you 250 rep.

4. You can turn in as many as you like in one day as the quest to turn them in IS NOT considered a daily quest.

5. A spawned egg is considered to be like a treasure chest in that you CANNOT open it up if you're in combat. You have to be OUT of combat to open it up and get the egg.

They can drop off any mob on the Netherwing Ledge.

The best place for finding eggs on the ground is deep in the mines, and check the slime/worm area every so often theres a good chance of spotting them, always keep an eye out for eggs, if you are in an area with other players that if you arent looking for the eggs they will get it before you

If you are an herbalist, you can also get these from picking the netherdust bushes. I've received two eggs already from a total of maybe 20-25 bushes farmed.

These eggs can be a bit hard to spot.. I would suggest that if your going to do any extensive searching, you do it either early in the morning or late at night so your not having to fight others for them..

Make sure and always check the mines, the small 'islands' beside the ledge and also check the fortress.. I've had them drop off mobs but they are pretty rare so I wouldn't suggest farming for them in that manner.

I also have some gold to spare so usually I ask on the general channel for locations on eggs and I offer to pay for each egg that is given to me by another person, meaning they sit beside the egg and give me the location.... Sadly you need to be sure and loot the egg first before you pay since I've had players who I payed first then they took it.. =(

Unfortunately no Skinners cannot randomly 'skin' the eggs. As stated in the quest:

Eggs might be found on creatures of the island, near crystal formations, in the mines, or even inside a nethercite node or netherdust bush.

This is an indicator that they only spawn in the herbs and ores. Logically speaking, thats all that makes sense too. You could find an egg behind some ore, or tucked away in a bush, but certainly not underneath a creatures skin... could you?

Either way, they drop off mobs randomly and if you are a skinner, you might run into one while doing the skinning daily anyway.

I know these are rare, but I had no problem finding them, in 30 minutes I've collected 9 inside the mine just out the back of the camp. Alot of them were on the bottom floor , or with the overseers hidden in the alcoves in walls. Two also came out of the mine carts when collecting cargo.

Found my egg at the far east end of Netherwing Ledge. If you scout around the crystals scattered throughout the isle, you will find the egg.

The drop rate seems high enough on the mobs in the mines that if you pull everything and AoE loot it when you're done, you should end up with a few eggs an hour. The flayers/ravagers area is nice because a constant loop provides dozens of respawns. Only one hour into my grind for eggs and I've bagged 5 of them.

YMMV according to how populated the mines are.

Because the quest giver is not clear about this:

1) Fly towards the cliffs and look for a mine entrance, the egg is in the mines, not on the surface.

2) Don't bother looking for them out in the open if you are level 100, just nuke everything you find and loot until you happen to pick one up.

All you have to do is put the macro onto your action bar and click it once. When you directly mouseover a Netherwing Egg (including in your inventory), the sound will trigger. It will continue to do this until your UI is reloaded (this includes replacing one macro with another to change the sound; both sounds will play until the UI is reloaded).

This quest is NOT part of the Shadow of the Betrayer. As I saw it on the Shadowmoon Valley story page and was able to get the achievement without needing it done.

Coordinates 69.7, 60.1..... in 2021, after hours of hunting and researching, I found this youtube video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rumkxSmhrQ ... The first tower shown at 0:30 in the video gave me the egg! The video doesnt shown him going inside because the Egg was on TOP of the tower. But, YOU NEED to go inside the tower toooo. Coordinates 69.7, 60.1... bypass the mounted drake. They wont attack you! Just got inside 3-4 feet and you will see the egg in the tower. Loot it... and now go claim! You are welcome!

Yarzill the Merc at Dragonmaw Base Camp in Shadowmoon Valley wants you to recover a Netherwing Egg.

Description

Should you discover any Netherwing eggs while exploring, bring them to me.

Be warned, a Netherwing egg is a rare discovery. Do not become frustrated if you cannot locate one. These Dragonmaw have been very thorough in collecting most of them and shipping them off to parts unknown.

Eggs might be found on creatures of the island, near crystal formations, in the mines, or even inside a nethercite node or netherdust bush.

Keep a low profile. We don't need Mor'ghor catching wind of your actions.
