The Acrano-Scorp are located at 62,40. You gain control of them using the Arcano Control Unit just behind them. You now gain control of the Arcano-Scorp and can tag them using the first ability from your pet bar.

Confirmed coords, (62, 40) just follow the road to the bridge across the green "Lava" and there is 3 large mechanical scorpions about 10 meters to the west side of the bridge, pretty hard to miss. Pretty easy exp.

I don't know if this is a glitch or a quirk, but when I returned to the control unit, I was dancing.

Coords : 62, 40

Explanation: Get there, click on a "Arcano Control Unit" next to the Arcano-Scorps. This will give you control of an Arcano-Scorp. You walk around as the Arcano-Scorp using the "Tag Greater Felfire Diemetradon" spell on the pet bar. Obviously on the Greater Felfire Diemetradon's. Once you have tagged 8, you have finished :D.

The arcanoscorps have other abilities besides tagging the Diemetradons. It's basically a mini-game you can play with 2 other friends, if you were really that bored.

a.) Arcano-Cloak, makes your scorp untargettable by other scorps
b.) Arcano-pince, does a weak melee attack to other scorps
c.) Arcano-dismantle, does a powerful attack to other scorps as well as stuns them for a short duration.

They cannot be used against other players or mobs, but I suppose it could be a few minutes of fun if you see someone doing the quest, and feel like murdering their arcanoscorp with yours.

Kind of a strange note, when I got bored and decided to "kill" one of the uncontrolled mechano-scorps, my ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32771 ) decided to proc >.<

I could not use the control until I dismissed my pet. Perhaps the overwrite issue, previously mentioned, has been addressed.

Easy and a funny quest at 62.40, Just press the shining thingy and controll the scorpion, press the "Tag Greater Felfire diemetradon! Just press it on all the Diemetradon's.

I did this quests today, but I couldn't complete it. I was unable to cast any spell while controlling the scorpid. Strange but true...

I wasn't able to do this quest, so I disabled my bartender addon and tried it again and it worked. If you're having trouble, that might be the reason.

When you find yourself having trouble with bartender not showing the controllbar, go to the bartender option menu, add an extra bar and make it a posess bar. Now everytime you control something, it will have the abilities on that bar. Make sure that "hide when posessing" isn't checked or else it will, obviously, not work.

For people having trouble finding the Arcano-scorps, I didn't find them at (60,42) but at (62.2, 42.2). Hope that helps!

I had to wait for my buff to wear off naturally before I could dismount the scorpid. I couldn't click off the buff nor could I dismount by my choice. Luckily it didn't take long.

Be sure to clear the area before you do this quest. I wasn't watching my health bar, and came back to find that I was being attacked by a diemetradon and was at 10% health.

If the mechnical scorpid is not next to its Arcano Control Unit, you will not be able to interact with the Arcano Control Unit.

When I arrived to do this quest, all of the scorpids were away, and I could not use the control units. However, I came back later and a couple of the scorpids had returned - I was then able to do the quest.

As of 8.1 on 17/2/2019, this quest remains bugged for some players.

You will find that you can get to the Arcano Control Unit, but there are no Scorps present to control, resulting in no action when you click on the control unit. They are instead in the lava, too far away to be controlled. Tried disabling all addons, relogging and exiting the game, to no avail.

Spoke to a GM re this, and the only way to rectify this is by contacting them, and having them respawn the mobs for you.

The mobs are supposed to return when someone exits them, but this is not always the case resulting in this quest not being able to be completed. Doubly frustrating due to the fact this is required for the Shadowmoon Valley portion of the LoreMaster.

Frankly, It Makes No Sense...

Researcher Tiorus at Shadowmoon Village in Shadowmoon Valley wants you to travel to the lava flow near the Ruins of Baa'ri and use the Arcano Control Unit to control an Arcano-Scorp, swim in the lava with the Arcano-Scorp, and tag 8 Greater Felfire Diemetradons.

Description

We must study these creatures further.

Far to the east - near the huge lava flow beneath the ruins of Baa'ri - you will find arcano control units. These controllers were crafted by a genius named Gnomus for the sole purpose of exploring lava via mechanical scorpion.

He has long since lost his mind and is now only interested in eating the hottest food known to gnome-kind.

<Tiorus gives you a funny look.>

I want you to use the control and tag the diemetradons of the lava flow for further study.
