Fair warning to those who may attempt to complete this quest while doing a Heroic version of the Shadow Labyrinth: Vorpil will not drop the lexicon on heroic.

The Illidari-Bane questline is a series of quests that leads to some cool anti-demon weapons. It involves entering many level-70 instances, so you probably want to do the prerequisites before then. David Wayne is also rumored to be Mograine of the Ashbringer.

Many bad things are said about Blizzard and their work on this game, but at the end of the day, we play it and love it.

However, the fact that this quests can only be done on Normal is the game at its worst. It doesn't make any sense. It screws players over after they have spend an hour or more getting to the boss. Quests like these makes you think that the developers were both drunk and high when they designed them. Quests like these makes you think: "WHY? OH, WHY?!"

I think the developers of Blizzard should STOP ALL WORK ON THE EXPANSION until they have fixed these quests. Okay, it might seem like an unfair demand... but seriously, it can't be that hard.

considering the chain can be started at 67, its a little obvious ( imo ) to do it in normal....

at least, when I was levelling up for the first time, I did this in normal mode without even thinking about doing it in heroic <_<

And if you're the kind of guy who sits and complains about how "pathetic" Blizzard are, and wants to moan about having to run an extra instance, you need to uninstall the game, as you've lost sight of the fun of it, that, and your just a grumpy brat.

It's possible that the quest is designed for players who just hit level 70 and has never been in a Heroic before. But what if you're ready for heroics when you want to do this quest? What if you have friends/guildies who are powerful enough to get you through the heroic version though you may be a bit low-geared?

Some of the other quest-lines - the "Trial of the Naaru" for instance - requires the dungeon to be on Heroic in order to complete the quest. This makes sense. Because they want it to be a challenge.
However, having a quest that can only be completed on normal makes no sense. Why it is wrong to make the challenge bigger than you have to if that's what you want? After all, it should be easier to get a group for Heroic SL than Normal SL if you are in a raiding guild (people want badges).

Of course, you are right that the quest is likely meant to be a less challenge than Trial of the Naaru, but you can't justify the fact the quest can ONLY be done on Normal.

You're probably right that whining too much about Blizzard's work on the game is silly, especially when we are actually paying them every month. That wasn't my intention. I was just trying to point out that some of the things in the game are very silly.

This quest counts for the Shadow of the Betrayer Achievement if you are going for your Loremaster.

The quets item drops in Heroic mode now. (have no idea how ago it was fixed). Dropped for me today.

I was doing this quest today at level 110. I first did it on heroic not realizing it didn't drop on heroic. Then i did it on normal but the item did not drop. Then i created a private group in the premade group finder to simulate a normal dungeon run and it dropped. I am not sure if the last part is why it dropped or if it is just not 100% droprate. It seems odd though not to have a dungeon quest item 100% drop rate.

Ran Shadow Labyrinth on heroic, and the quest item dropped, but the icon was red and the item said "You do not meet the requirements for this item" when I tried to loot it. Ran again on normal, and was able to loot the quest item without issue.

The Lexicon Demonica

Obtain the Lexicon Demonica from Grandmaster Vorpil and bring it to David Wayne at Wayne's Refuge.

Description

Recreating the enchantments on the blade requires several spells to be spoken in demonic.

It's not something I was taught during my training as an apprentice, but there's no way around it. There's a book, called the Lexicon Demonica, that will provide most of the words I need, but it's in the hands of a powerful Shadow Council warlock.

Deep in the halls of Auchindoun's Shadow Labyrinth, it is held by Grandmaster Vorpil. Do whatever you must to secure the book and bring it to me.
