Not clear by above posts, but you need to fly/run around that area until it tells you that you've "Explored" it. After that, fire your gun.

The "Explored" for the quest is different from exploring The pAth of Conquest.

i took my gear of and ran with epic kodo towards 52, 64 and got it done, jumped to lava and died. ressed and fired gun and voila.

can be soloed with a flying mount, fly very close to the land and get across mobs, and when you "discover" the place, you're done.

be sure that you won't be attacked after firing the gun, because mobs near the kor'kron wind rider attack when he tries to land and he says "enemies approach! call for me when you are at a safe location" and flies above. that causes you a minute of cooldown.

I found a simple place to do this, 54,60 right at the ledge. Rode right up from Sanctum of the Stars and shot the flare. No encounters with any mobs no needing to jump into the pit and best of all-don't need a flying mount.

If you have a flying mount this can easily be done on your own. What I did was that I swept low over the path and the quest completed. Then I stopped on the ridge at 50.5 63.8 and used the gun and the Wing-dude came sailing down. The follow up will probably be good to do in a wee group.

I ran in with my mount right down the hill when I got near the bottom it said area complete. I then res'ed @ Sanctum and went up the hill as already posted (54,60) and called him and completed.

Easy as a 68 mage. There's a small pathway between the bridge close by and what looks to be the remains of an arc. ( 51.9, 58 ) Go through this small opening and slightly down the hill that over looks the path. Be careful not to pull anything, pop a mana shield or ice barrier, then invisibility.

As soon as invisibility sets in quickly jump down the hill and into the path until you get the "The Path of Conquest Discovered (Complete)" message. Promptly turn around and head back up the hill. Watch the time on Invisibility because right before you come out of it you want to blink towards the road.

You'll either be home free or have very few mobs chasing after you. The cooldown on your shield should be up so if you do pull you can use the original up and pop another as you frost nova and run away. Go up to the hill as previously mentioned, use your flare gun, and you're done.

I got it done at exactly 50,62, which was really easy to solo. You just need to go to above the path and all you have to kill is single pulls dragonhawks.

I was actually able to complete this quest while dead, I fell down and died and while roaming in ghost form to find a safe(ish) place to res i got the discovery

You don't actually need to be at that point to use the flare gun to summon the NPC you hand the quest in at. I forgot to do it at first and had already gone back to Shadowmoon Village, and I was able to summon him there aswell.

i've discoverd "The Path of Conquest" and then use the flare.. then the NPC come's and i talk to him and i can't complete the quest.. what i will do

Easy quest, I had resurection sickness, so I didn't even bother trying to fight, just ran in as far as I could until I was knocked off my mount, then dropped totems to distract as many of the mobs as I could while I ran as far in in ghost wolf form as I could, the objective registered as complete around about the moment that I died...

I didn't make it very far in, but it didn't matter..
Rezzed in the graveyard and used the flare gun there. Easy. I was level 68 at the time.

I dont know why this is a 3 man quest, i just flyed a little around in the marked area and then after 30 seconds, i completed it.

When my quest 'completes' I lose my flare gun and can't shoot it. I even tried disabling my addons but it still does it... anyone else having this problem?

I am unable to find a flare gun in my inventory or bank to progress through this quest. Is there any trick to getting the npc to give you the flare gun again?

This worked for me in 7.3.5:

1. Go to 51, 62
2. Fire the gun. He will fly down and land near you but the quest wont complete.
3. Run a bit up the hill till towards the Eclipsion Soldiers until it says "path of conquest discovered"
4. Run back to the quest giver and he should have a yellow question mark above his head
5. Complete :)

Pro-tip for anyone who's as dumb as me - the flare gun doesn't have the glowing border like quest items, so it gets lost in a sea of junk easily 🙃

as Mordrus posted below - fly around the area highlighted on the map (I went around once within the perimeter). when you complete the 'discover' objective, open bag & search "flare"
- go to a safe area before you use the flare. the demons can kill the quest NPC right out of the sky.

it's OK to use the flare gun earlier but it has a long cooldown. long cooldown quest items are kind of an outland thing i think

As I didn't see this in the comment section - go bach to the quest giver and speak with him if you have deleted the flare gun. He will give it back. 10.2.

Description

Word has come from my wind riders, <name>. The Eclipsion blood elves are planning something big. They have begun forming their armies at the Path of Conquest, far to the southeast - adjacent to Eclipse Point.

I want you to travel to the Path of Conquest and assess the situation. Once you have done so, use this flare gun to signal a wind rider. One will swoop down from the sky to meet you. Inform them of what you have discovered and they will give you your next set of orders.
