You can find these all along the ramparts of Corp'rethar. If you run out of them on the top floor, there are some on the floor below it.

From a mage's point of view.

The Harbingers of Horror seem to be content to slowly move towards you, occasionally trying to chuck a frostbolt at you. Their frostbolts hit for about 4000 damage, and have an impressive range. Their casts can be interrupted, however. They can also be slowed, snared, and the like. When they get close, they occasionally do some sort of frost nova, which deals irrelevant damage and knocks you back. Being knocked off the walls isn't particulary awesome, so mind your positioning. Their melee attack does hit fairly hard - I've been hit for up to 5000.

The Guardians of Corp'rethar are your average melee mob. They hit hard, much like the Harbingers, and apply debuffs like mortal wound and infected bite, which are of little consequence to a mage. Being slowable and snareable, they're easily kited. However, their melee range is larger than you might expect, so be sure to keep them at a distance.

Both mobs have about 63000 hp. This quest can be completed solo, but I wouldn't turn down help as it's sure to speed things up a little. The suggested 5 man party, however, is overkill.

This quest does not seem to lead to any followup quests. A somewhat uneventful ending to Thassalian's chain of group quests.

Soloable as Marksmanship Hunter. Use your snares, deterrence / drive by wing clip if needed, but you can get by without by bouncing aggro back and forth between you and your pet, and straight up kiting. T5 (2) piece can obviously help a little while you nuke. Mana is tight, you will spend about 11-12K mana killing one of these by using your conc, mend pet and instant casts.

Alright this is soloable if you can kite. The liches are soloable if you are ranged.

The doggies you just kite. Either you can or you can't. =)

The liches you use instants on and just run around some pillar. They'll never get a cast off. Interrupts work too.

Both of these mobs can be shackled and are thus easily soloable by a priest using a root and nuke strategy, much like Coprous the Defiled.

This appears to be the very end of the extremely long chains of quests in Icecrown, culminating in the 5-man group quests offered by Thassarian(A) and Koltira Deathweaver(H); at least until future patches (> 3.0.3) The other group quests that are offered end with repeatable daily versions of the group quests Neutralizing the Plague(A)/(H) and No Rest For The Wicked(A)/(H).

Corp'rethar Guardians are exceptionally easy to kite by any ranged class, or even Death knights, the Harbringers of Horror are usually the ones to look out for, large melee, knockback and 4k frostbolts are not friendly. I recommend interrupts and heals (solo-able by blue geared Death knight)

Paladins note, these are both fearable by using Turn Evil. I put in the Glyph of Turn Evil to get it as an instant. I soloed it as a Holy Paladin, but it felt like being a warlock, just fear-kiting, but it made it so easy! If you don't mind being the chaser instead of the chased, this is a great way to go for this quest.

Important thing to remember is that these are stunnable, as an unholy DK that is very nice, as gnaw from your pet makes these guys very trivial.

VERY easy to solo as a priest: spam non-dot spells/shackle/spell/shackle/spell/shackle. Easy, ha?

As a hunter I soloed the Corp'Rethar Guardians by kiting the mobs as far as possible across the ramp, if there was a point I could not go further I dropped a freezing trap, and kited him back to the opposite direction. I suggest hunters to use aspect of the cheetah because they're slightly faster in movement as players. I didn't get hit once by doing it like this.

For the Harbringers of Horror I've used 2 different techniques because I don't like to waste time on waiting for respawns.
1. There are 2 points on the ramp with Harbringers of Horror patrolling between pilars. I simply kited the Harbrings of Horror around the pilars so they can't cast a spell on me, and no, their frost novas won't freeze you through the pilar.
2. Because I don't like to wait for respawns I made my way to Harbringers of Horror on the ramp without pilars.
I've kited them like the Corp'Rethar Guardians but this time I outrange the Harbringer of Horror so they can't finish their spell casts. To kite him again in the opposite direction I used Freezing Arrow because he stays on distance.

Not ezily soloed as BM hunter my pet didnt get there in time so he got a frostbolt on me which got me down to 74% then he killed my pet in 5 secs (literally) and then he came back at me and in 2 shots i was ded =(

I'll add some melee information then: As a rogue, I could pretty easily solo the Guardians of Corp'rethar. Just stunlock them and pop Evasion when Kidney has run out and the odd Killing Spree. Didn't take me very long at all really.

The Harbingers however, were such a nuissance. I had to position myself carefully due to the knockback and I burned every CD I had just to gun them down - and here, Stunlocking was the key as well.

P.S: watch out where you run on the middle floor! The Horrors and Guardians are patrolling there :S

Easy solo as a disc priest. Level 80, 15k hp/mana and 1500SP.

For the dogs : PW:S, chain dog, holy fire, penance, start backing up and cast shadow word : death then start casting chain when the dots at 1 second or less left. Move to max cast range and rinse/repeat. The dog would get 1-2 hits off on me and break PW:S half the time, if it didnt and I was diseased I would let disease break PW:S for rapture then cure it.

For the lich : PW:S, chain lich, mana burn, penance, start backing up and SW:D then start casting chain. If I saw him stop to frost bolt me I would cancel chain and then recast so that it would land after he bolted me, this would break PW:S and do some extra damage to him. Rinse and repeat.

I had a +sp trinket I would pop when I remembered to and inner focus every time it was up. Once I got the rotation down and didnt have to heal myself as much I would end each fight with 15-20% mana left.

easy to solo as decently geared prot pally. Judged light, used sacred shield, divine plea up constantly. used seal of Vengeance. my health barely dropped if at all. the Guardians were ridiculously easy. the Harbingers easy as well but annoying. Main thing to do with them is make sure you dont get thrown off a cliff or into another angry mob.

Just a bit more information if you HAVE and quest from the argent tournament make sure that you abandon them because it WILL make so you CANT see the other people in your party and after you abandon them you can just accept them again from the argent tournament

Easily solable as a Blood DK, both the Harbinger and Guardian. For the liches, i pretty much interrupted his cast hith mind freeza and Strangulate. Didn't get hit by AoE once. For the Guardian, i just had an eye for the Mortal Wound, cos it really mess up Death Strike. Once the Mortal Wound not a problem, heal up with some consecutive death strikes. Easy as pie.

As for rogue soloing, I may add:

- yes, use all your stuns, but only gouge if you really think you have to (I didn't)
- use evasion for dogs and CoS for casters (right after your first CS wears off ), caster damage is basically only magic and you have a high chance of dodging the knockback
- use KS for both, inc damage control is vital
- I found harbingers the toughest, so that's where I used spree+BF
- dogs leave some dot, if low on health, be quick to eat after mob is dead

I've soloed all the Skybreaker 5-mans and this was by far the hardest. Using some Fate Runes helps a lot (they stack, used +damage, -damage taken and heal on crit ones).

I soloed this as Disc priest.. Just keep your PW:Shield up and use your spells.. Pain suppression, PW:Barrier.. Smite and Holy fire will heal you, and dot the target so he loses life when you're (rarely) flash healing yourself.

As an 83 Paladin, I had no trouble in killing the Guardians, but got thrown off the ramparts twice and killed by the Harbringers before I got my brain working. Just went to the ends of the ramparts that go into the mountain and fought those Harbringers. Just that simple, and the quest turned easy!

Thassarian, aboard the Skybreaker, wants you to kill 5 Harbingers of Horror and 5 Corp'rethar Guardians.

Description

Corp'rethar, called the Horror Gate. It is the last barrier between us and the Icecrown Citadel. It waits to the south of the Ironwall Rampart, beyond the glacier and the Conflagration. By the time our troops reach it, they will be exhausted and worse.

We must weaken its defenses, or our army's strength will break upon its walls.

Its battlements are manned by some of the Lich King's fiercest and most zealous servants. Do all you can to destroy these guardians and hope it is enough.
