Soloed as a lvl 80 unholy Death Knight.

Just tank him with bone shield and icebound fortitude on until your hp goes too low.
Then kite him around one of the pillars in his room with chains of ice, keep icy touch on him and let your ghoul bring him down.

His acid spit won't hit you if he is not in line of sight (hence the pillars).

Soloed as a lvl 80 BM hunter as well.

Always hide behind the pillars when he's spitting that green goo of course. Very simple and straight forward. He is trappable and snarable (concussive). The pet was just there for extra DPS while I kited around the pillars. Pet also handled 2 respawning adds mid fight with me chucking a mend pet here and there. You will probably need a few bandages as well. I didn't use any pots though.

I assume that the fact he can be snared and trapped is an oversight on Blizzard's part and will probably end up being changed in the future.

Solo'd as a Ret pally.

Easily doable without popping Bubble also, just time your CD's right with Hoj/Repentance. This will take ALOT of Repentance. He hits for around 4k average on 14k Armour so make sure that you Insta-FoL after every crit off DS/Judge/CS etc. I didn't realise that you could LoS his Acid Spit so I just DPS'd through it and hit him with a stun whenever I got to about 6k HP, Judgement + InstaFoL > Holy Light > start DPSing again. If your mana gets low (And it most definately will) hit him with Repentance, throw up Divine Plea and throw on BoW to Mana yourself up. Do NOT engage him until your Repentance has around 20 sec left on it as you'll need it again. It'll take you 5 or so minutes but it's easy.

Soloable as a feral druid. Didn't know that you could LoS acid spray so i just interupted those with bash whenever possible. Nature's Grasp + healing works wonders here.

He can also be pally feared with Turn Evil, best thing i found to do was Clear left side of the room that has Plagued Fiend in it, then use it to chain cast pally fear. Also use Judgement of Justice since it will slow him, preventing him from pulling adds and taking him longer to get back to you so you can que up another pally fear. if you get a poison spray just hammer of justice him or Holy Wrath to stun, you can also use turn undead on him while he is casting his poison spray to interrupt it. This guy is a pallys dream mob, way easy :)

Soloed as a moonkin.

So basically you need to Line of Sight hes acid spit and keep him entangled the whole fight. Keep insect swarm and moonfire going. Remember this is an endurance fight so just keep him snared with the DoTs up. I had glyph of IS which helps. I basically took him from 100% to 0% with insect swarm and moonfire ticking away while LOS'ing the spit.

Solo'd as a 80 prot pally.
when he does the acid spit, run around a pillar. you can heal while he's still channeling acid spit. when he comes to chase you after his acid spit, run the opposite way around the pillar that he's coming from quickly, if you do it fast enough he'll change his direction, then change your direction. you can keep him away like this indefinately. It'll allow you to regenerate some mana, or let bandages cooldown, etc.

When he's doing his Acid Spray,just hide behind a pillar.
He won't be able to hit you through it.
Soloed as a Balance druid,he's not immune to roots so just kite and root him.
Hits like a truck though,3.5kish on 50% mitigation,and 1.5k spray ticks.

I can confirm that the priest's shackle undead works on this guy. As a priest I did this with a mage guildmate, I recon priests could solo it too but it would take a lot more time. Funny that even the quest description says "Fight him, and find a weakness we might exploit."

Hits for 5k on leather, has a stun. Although possible to solo as a resto druid, very difficult because if you mess up your root rotation, he might come crit you and stun you at the same time, which means you're dead.

Tried soloed by level 80 Enhancement Shaman, with some of the best gear available - Popped heroism and spirit wolfes who kept me alive until a 10.000 crit landed in my Face.

Pretty easy to solo him with a blood dk, Just make sure no mobs are around lure him to the middle of the room use "d&d-deathgrip-mark of blood-icy touch-plague strike-heart strike-vampric blood-deathstrike" if you getting to about 50% or so hp use "rune tap" and "empower rune weapon" then use rune tap once its cd is up , If your really running low on hp start casting "army of the dead" all those ghouls will pretty much save you if your under 30% hp then bandage up and runetap.

Funny thing, for all the easy soloable group quests out there... this one was a giant failure (80 demo warlock)...

Mr Coprous has a giant poison barf that hits for around 12k every 15 seconds or so, with a range of about 30y (maybe more),
and it hits both you and your demon at once if your demon happens to be in the way (seems to be targeted at 2nd agro target).
At well over 100k health taking it out quickly is out of the question.

ah yes, fear immune aswell ofcourse (undead) :)

easily soloed as demo warlock (meta/ruin raid spec if that matters) in full stamina set (Frost resist one) plus 2 stamina scrolls over me and my glyphed VW. Just pull him to the corner, let VW tank, be sure to position yourself behind, so you dont get poisoned. With heroic/naxx10/glacial gear i have about 20k hps, so VW is about, 35-37 which is more than enough to survive this fight under funnel

Solo'd at lvl 80 Prot Paladin 552 Def just short of 28k HP, Use Seal of Wisdom to help keep up mana pool + throw two holy light heals when you drop below 1/2 hp , by then he should be under that himself, Devine Plea to recoup mana & when you get to near 1/6th or less of you HP pop Devine Sheild & heal again (ONCE with holy light) carry on fighting him down, when you get back down to 1/6th of your HP again he is near death but so are you, pop LoH /lol at him & go get your Money !

Forgot to mention: Above others mentioned things like Judgement of Justice, Turn Undead, Using LoS tricks & Kite techniques, none of this is really necessary, just stand there & keep your composure. Pulled him without pulling the two mobs either side then just tanked & spanked.

soloed this the other day as a lvl 80 frost mage. wasnt too bad, frost nova and deep freeze make it pretty easy to kite him, the water elemental helps as its freeze ability comes in handy when frost nova wears off. also popped mirror image for some extra dps and bang, dead.

maybe its just me but i dont think this should be a 5 man quest, maybe a 3 man?

Easily solo'd with blood DK in heroic Naxx tanaking gear. Sacrificed minion when I got to about 50% health. Keep IF up at all times since he stuns. I just fought through the poison and he was dead before he did it a second time.

Solo'd as an 80 prot warrior, just spell reflect the sprays and for final ticks los it. Use enraged regen when low and just shield block when its up every time. Pretty easy. Can alternate use trinkets to avoid most of the damage.

Solo'd as an 80 holy pally. SoW, JoW. Consecrate, holy wrath when they were up. Holy shocked for healing self because he hits fairly hard on plate--just stood there and took the poison spit. Kept sacred shield up and popped divine plea whenever it was up. Not too hard, just takes about 10 minutes to kill him so be careful to watch for respawns.

You don't need to be either tank or pvp speced to solo this, I just downed him as fully pve boomkin. Clear half of the room so you can use starfall. Pop treants, dots and starfall, when he kills the treants and focuses on you, watch out - he hits very hard. Cyclone, hot yourself as much as possible, and when cyclone runs out, throw a starfire, and cyclone him again. Rinse and repeat. You won't survive his hits more than a few seconds, not even full hots, so don't just think you can get down 100k in 10 seconds, cause you'll be dead in 5.

Solo'd as a shadow priest. Pull him w/ Mind Blast, Mind Flay until, he gets close, SW:D and then shackle undead. Manage your PW:S cooldowns and the shackle cooldown and you can kite/shackle him til he's dead. Just dont just any dots, as they'll break shackle early.

Can be soloed as a surv hunter as well.

I just kited him. Wing clip and snake trap both work on him. Did not test frost trap since I was using Black Arrow.

Edit: The info was accurate when I posted it. Annoying when people downvote old items simply because they do not know how the game was a few patches ago and assume the game has always been the way it is now.

Death Knight:
Kited him through the room, when almost dead I took army of the dead to tank him and gave him all I got. I after various tries with different tacs, this try worked.

easy solo as bm hunter. i didnt even need to kite, he hit soft enough that all my pet needed was a constant mend to keep him up. a little warning however, his spray does hit all for a good bit of damage, so try to silence if you can, or prepare to get a little wet.

Was able to solo him as shadow priest. Didn't use any DoTs because they kept breaking the shackle the first time I tried. Just shackle him and hit him with mind blast, then shackle again and repeat. Keep power word: shield up on yourself to absorb the acid spit. Takes some time, but it works. I was at full health when he finally died.

Shadow Priest, level 80, 5k gs.

I followed some of the suggestions above. "Shakle Undead" is a big fail. It held him for barely over a second, then next one less, and the 3rd was instant. No point to it.

So I opened with DPS, and when he came after me, sent my Shadowfiend and did a "fade" to take the aggro off me so I could heal up a bit.

Barely gave me any time to heal up. He stunned me, and killed me real good.

I got him down to 1/3 health though. So I called a guildy and we polished hiim off

Soloed as a L80 rogue, GS 5.4k.

First, I cleared all the Plagued mobs. They respawn fairly quickly; if you die, you'll have to clear them again. Luckily, they're very easy.

Then I waited to make sure that all my cooldowns were available, and my poisons and food buff were still up. I started the fight with a Cheap Shot stun and then blew all my cooldowns to dps as fast as possible. I popped Evasion as soon as he came out of the initial stun. I killed him so quickly that he never even got to Acid Spray, but I had planned to Kidney Shot stun him when he started to Acid Spray.

I did not kite the mob; I just stood in one place and dps'ed. If you mess up something or have bad luck, just sprint to the entrance of the room and he'll reset.

On my first attempt, the Acid Spray did seem to go through pillars and have a really, really long range.

Have a health pot and healthstone handy, if possible. Also, try using one of the Bone Witch buffs to help (I think there's one that heals you if you crit a mob?); I forgot to do this myself.

I even pickpocketed him before the fight, just because I could. :)

Solo by 80 Disc Priest, ICC gear.

(1) Clear adds. Do not loot for max respawn time.
(2) Max range on boss.
(3) Smite | Mind Blast | Shackle.
(4) Rinse & repeat (2) & (3)

It'll take a few minutes, so if add respawns, kill after shackle. Use the pillars if you have to dodge poisons.

Depending on your Haste you should have time to squeeze all 3 into your rotation before the boss gets to you. If not, it will take longer but don't do a Mind Blast.

The guy above had problem with breaking shackles. Don't use DOTS. DOTS break shackles.

He was fine as an 85 shadow priest. However, even though the quest tracker will say he's in Ymirheim, he is actually in a tower in Mord'rethar. Fly east past the spike-covered tower and on the second platform down (the platform with all the elite Pustulent Horrors) is an entrance to the tower. Clear the nonelites around him and he's yours for the killing :)

I just soloed this as a lvl 78 arcane mage. Pretty easy if you pop arcane power mirror image and mana shield and just spam arcane blast. He went down a lot faster than i thought he would.

Not sure if it was luck, or something making it majorly easier in cata. But as a lvl 78 BM hunter, I was able to 'Tank and Spank' in full lvl 70 PvP gear, with a rhino as a pet. The only thing i had to do out of the ordinary was to CONSTANTLY have mend pet up, and my pet died, but i froze coprous and rezzed him. (Rhino didn't die until Coprous had only 20k HP left)

Ok, here's how to explain what to do from the VERY beginning.

Entrance is at coordinates: 64.6, 61.8 where Plagued Fiend are outside the entrance while the Pustulent Horrors are on the ledges. If you don't have coordinates addon, go to Mord'rethar: The Death Gate on the East side. See screenshot tab.
Once you're inside, slay all the mobs of Plagued Fiends. They'll gang up on you while fighting
Coprous the Defiled. If you die, you have to do it all over again & they respawn quickly.

If you're a Warrior:
Use spells to reflect the sprays and for final ticks los it. Use Enraged Regeneration when low and just Shield Block when its up every time.

If you're a Paladin:
Make sure you use Sacred Shield for protection that last only 6 seconds but keep doing it to avoid DPS from his acid spit. As he does the acid spit, run around a pillar. You can heal while he's still channeling acid spit. When he comes to chase you after his acid spit, run the opposite way around the pillar when he's coming quickly. If you do it fast enough he'll change his direction, then change your direction. You can keep him away like this indefinitely. It'll allow you to regenerate some mana using Flash of Light, or let bandages cooldown, etc.

If you're a Hunter:
You should be able to 'Tank and Spank' in full lvl 70 PvP gear, with a rhino as a pet. You may have to do constantly is heal the pet up. Your pet may die but if you play it right, you'll eventually freeze Coprous the Defiled and rez him.

If you're a Rogue:
Wait until all your cooldowns are available, and your poisons and food buff are up. Started the fight with a Cheap Shot and then use all cooldowns to DPS quickly. Pop Evasion as soon as he comes out of the initial stun. You can kill him quick enough so that he never uses Acid Spray(?). Also, you can Kidney Shot to stun him when he starts to Acid Spray. No need to kite the mob; You can stand in one place and DPS them. If you mess up something or have bad luck, just sprint to the entrance of the room and he'll reset. Have a health potion and/or Hearthstone on hand, if possible. Also, try using at least one of the Bone Witch items: Bone Witch's Drape, The Bone Witch's Amulet, Wristguard of the Bone Witch to help. Just for fun you can pickpocket him before the fight.

If you're a Priest:
A priest's shackle undead will work.
The simplest thing to do is keep a maximum range on the boss & use Smite, Mind Blast, Shackle

If you're a Death Knight:
Just tank him with Bone Shield and Icebound Fortitude on until your HP goes too low. Then kite him around one of the pillars in his room with Chains of Ice to keep Ice Touch on him and let your Ghoul bring him down. His acid spit won't hit you if he is not in line of sight (hence the pillars).

If you're a Shaman
Use your elemental to tank most of the event while spamming heals on it.

If you're a Mage
Use Frost Nova and Deep Freeze to make it pretty easy to kite him. A water elemental helps as it's freeze ability comes in handy when Frost Nova wears off. Also popping a mirror image for some extra dps allows a faster defeat.

If you're a Warlock
Have your Warlock (meta/ruin raid spec if that matters) in full stamina set Frost Resistance plus 2 stamina scrolls over a glyphed VW.
