At last, your hard work pays off as this is the final quest to open a two way portal to and from StormWind for those who like swift travel without paying 2g to get out of the area by griffon. (other alternatives include flying south yourself to Loch Modan and taking the griffon from there at a 1g90s saving)

The quest tree starts at the hero's call board in Stormwind or Ogrimmar.

Do not try to AOE on these mobs. Those water bolts hurt a lot when you pull 4 or more and can't aoe them down fast. That also makes it tougher to group them up tightly. Just kill them 1 by 1, not worth going through the pain (dk grip, magic shell and army helps but still very stressful). Lesson learned.

So if you came upon this quest to unlock the portal and you spent hours on hours trying to figure out how to get this questline you MUST COMPLETE THE BATTLE FOR LORDAERON FIRST.

Slay Muddied Water Elementals to collect 5 Whirlpool Cores.

Description

Our friends in the Earthen Ring have been trying to open portals back to Stormwind, with no luck. But Thordun here tells me he might just have the key.

The crazed water elementals in the nearby Verrall River Delta have been sent into a frenzy. Thordun tells me we can channel their energy into a portal.

I don't understand all this elemental-claptrap, but I understand one thing: killin' elementals and takin' their whirlpool cores. Deliver them to Talaa in the courtyard!
