In case any hunter was wondering, no you can't tame Blaithe. Even though it shows up as a Bird of Prey, it also pops up as "not tamable" if you cast Tame Beast on it.

I just submitted a screenshot. There are several different roosts. The one at 44.7, 38.0 can be reached WITHOUT FLYING. It was tough, but start at the ruins (47.5, 35.5) and go up. Take a right at 45.8, 37.3 and go around the hill just before the summit with the roost. It took some jumping around, but I made it.

Ok, I was able to scale the mountain side. I went on on the opposite side between where Stormrage is at and the first bridge. I went up in the area of ( 41, 33). It took me a minute to find the path but I was able to get all the way up into a nest and complete the quest.

The actual coordinates for the nest are 39, 37, however the character actually spawns in about three different areas along that ridge. So the whistle isn't actually needed unless you can't find him. :)

Okay so I made a new hunter with my 90 boost, went to go do hijal quests for Ban'thalos because BM hunters are up in PvP. So if you run into a problem where the feather is not dropping you need to let the bird live and hit you for a few seconds. I continued to one shot it instantly and you won't get the drop

If you're a hunter and found yourself here, but you've already completed the quest; you may have found that if a friend tries to assist you they will be in a different instance. You can get by this by using level sync. After the sync, I had my assist suicide off the mountain and Blaithe aggro'd on to me for the tame.

To find a nest :
1. Exit the building (Assumption : you exit straight out the front)
2. Mount your flying mount
3. Go straight up to be a bit above the peaks on your right.
4. Land in a nest and blow your whistle. (They are along the straight blue line)
5. Kill Blaithe, loot and return.

It appears that you can not complete this quest without flying.

Hunters, if you want to tame Blaithe, then you'll need to do it before you hand in this quest. I reccomend placing a Freezing Trap at your feet before blowing Enormous Bird Call.
The Enormous Bird Call whistle has a 2 minute cool down and remains in your bags until you hand in this quest.
P.S. I captured him before and after killing and looting the feather giving me two of him! I abandoned one leaving me with the other.

The next quests are given by Thisalee Crow who is sitting on the font at the left (as you walk out) of the entrance. She's between the pillar and the ramp, so is easy to miss.

In case it's not obvious to you... your backpack will have in it Enormous Bird Call a whistle, which you use to call the bird while sitting like an assassin in the nest.

<name>, there's no time to waste. You may have been speaking to Aviana herself, trying to return to us.

I'll need something from Aviana's past to reach out to her. High atop the ridge overlooking this shrine, you'll find a series of huge nests belonging to Blaithe, an ancient bird of prey that was once her consort. For ten thousand years he's been mad with grief.

Go to one of his roosts, and use this call to summon him. Kill Blaithe and bring me one of his feathers.
