In build 4.0.0.12644 there is a lot of "Invalid target" messages and it's hard to see in the water. Look for sparkling guards, those ones can still be rescued.

By turning Liquid detail to the lowest you can see very far from the surface, but It's way faster just to swim around in the blur and aim for the sparkles.

Patch 5.0.4 - coming up onto land doesn't do anything. Trying to figure out how to get quest credit. Currently, not completable.

I found there was only one spot where my drowned ppl would disembark. From where the quest giver is- face the water and to your left there is a fence line. If drawing a line along the fence to water there is a place where the rock juts out to a triangular point . The ONLY place I could get the dudes to drop off me was there at the very point of this jutting outcrop of stone. (29.2/65.9)

I tried to get them to jump off when I got near Liam, but they wouldn't count. They would not get off until I got near the fence leading out of the stable far to Liam's right, near the outcrop of jutting stone.

If getting near Liam doesn't work for you, try this place. Hope this helps!

Confirmed what Aoife86 said earlier: Enter the water and head directly for Prince Liam. I could not get it to work until I used this method.

I had some difficulty with this quest recently, and wanted to let everybody know that there is a spot at coordinates 29.3,65.8 that lets you drop the Drowning Watchman that you have to rescue. I added a screenshot of this spot with my character facing Prince Liam Greymane.

Blizzard says they are aware of the bug with this quest, and the recommended action from them is jump up and down near Prince Liam ... THIS DOES NOT WORK! What I found was come out of the water directly behind him, then walk THROUGH him ... the watchman dropped off my character's shoulder just as it reached the grass in front of Liam. Good luck, and here's hoping you're not stuck on this one for long.

Edit - Just looked at the screenshots for this quest, the 4th one shows the exact spot where it worked for me ... where the worgen is standing directly in front of Prince Liam.

Tricky, but move around and youll get it.. I got 2 just by being near Liam, but the next few did not get off.. Maybe my fur was too comfy and soft...
And it's funny to watch all the cat-form druids jumping up and down in a group, men's legs flailing about as they try to complete this haha

There seems to be a sweet spot to drop the Drowning Watchman off literally right behind Liam (the quest giver), worked for me on several characters now. (Screen shot uploaded)

As of 5.0.5, do not jump out of the water to reach the land. Instead walk up the slope behind Liam and stand on him for 2 seconds. The victim will be dropped on the ground and you should get credit for it.

The Drowning Watchmen nearest the shore may give the Invalid Target message when you try to pick them up. They are beyond saving. Just go further out to get the other guys in deeper water.

Super buggy still in 8.3.

I had to /reload a few times, some dudes didn't get dropped off, etc...

Everything step of this quest is glitchy as hell. Trying to interact with the Drowning Watchmen returns "Invalid Taget" errors. once you finally pick one up, returning to shore will see you running all over the place still carrying the NPC, because the quest won't register you as having returned them to land.

What worked for me, is this. Go out in the water. Find one survivor. Right click on him/her when the gear appears. Then go back to the shore by Liam. Then go get another survivor, rightclick on the gear, go back to Liam. Each time you get a survivor, you have to go back to Liam. Then eventually, you get 4, go back to Liam 4 times, and you will be complete. They key in the quest text is something like "make sure they get back to shore"... not very clear. They should have the survivors wake up, and follow you. Maybe have them say "Thanks, can you get me back to shore?" or something like that. It would make it a bit more clear.
