You are supposed to use the controler before entering combat. It puts you in the charged war golem as a vehicle. Strange thing is the control is only usable in the quest area but right now I'm running to town and not getting ejected.

An AWESOME bonus to this quest is that when you have done your quest with your golem, you can use the golems to go around gank with! 39k hp, not many enemies can kick that down :P, some unecessary facts!

Do NOT exit your Golem on the elevator. You will fall down to the bottom of the shaft (thankfully not through the world).

Fun and easy quest.

Your Golem has 2 attacks: Charged Smash and EMP. Charged Smash inflicts 120% weapon damage and an additional 500 Nature damage. EMP disrupts The Anvil, causing it to drop Iron Thane Furyhammer's protective shield. You must keep The Anvil stunned or else Iron Thane Furyhammer become immune to all damage.

Hunters and Warlocks: Entering the Golem dismisses your pet. This is particularly irritating for a Warlock since you don't get the Soul Shard back.

Do this quest with Blackout.

Almost done with Grizzly Hills. Check.
Staying in big huge mean golem and going on a pvp killing spree in Vengeance Landing. CHECK.

There's no fall damage, just jump off the side of a cliff if you want.

As long as you get away from guards the 'WTF Factor' is enough to stun a few players.

easy quest. I cleared down to the bottom by myself and used the golem in the same chamber as the thane.

focus on thane, use EMP every time it's up, collect loot.

Make sure you aren't using the Overseer Disguise Kit while trying to kill him since he'll be friendly to you.

If you use your Overseer Disguise Kit, you can get to the bottom of the room without having to fight a single mob. As mentioned above, though, you have to remove the buff to fight Thane.

And again, do this with Blackout, and you can destroy the core while you're down there.

If you do however exit your golem on the elevator and get stuck, there is another way out. (painfull tho :P)

Use the golem again and this time when you exit, you will fall through the map and die. You can ress at the graveyard not far away.. beats waiting around for a GM IMO :P

Helpful hints:

1 - Don't use another EMP until the first debuff comes down. It doesn't reset it, so you'll end up getting smashed. You can easily kill the anvil too this way.
2 - If you try to use the golem suit again after leaving it you become disguised as an iron rune dwarf again, handy for getting out of the area.

I used this golem to farm Frostweave Cloth at Dun Algor. Not because the golem is all that powerful, I can kill things 10x faster than it, but because it's virtually unkillable and I can use it to kill while my mana regens and my cooldowns finish.

I run around Dun Argol on my lvl 75 Arcane Mage, mana dumping and bust DPSing until I've used up my Mana Emerald and Evocation. Then I jump into the golem and kill about 20 guys, jumping out periodically to take loot and fully heal the golem by doing so, until my mana is full and Evocation is up then I repeat.

This rakes in a good amount of exp, since I make sure I'm fully rested, and gets me a decent amount of Frostweave. I'm not gonna do this for long, its just that this is a really easy and relaxed way of getting exp and farming materials.

It's not an exploit, and besides I could get the same amount of exp doing normal quests, but I like leveling this way ^^ Though I'll definately go hand the quest in as soon as I hit 76 :P

As of 3.03 you get experience and loot while driving and attacking with this golem vehicle. You can't loot in the golem, you must exit first. It averages 600-700 DPS with auto attack and the lightning strike attack (The EMP one is specific for the intended purpose).

The bot can be activated during combat, and only has a 30sec CD. It spawns with full health. You're basically invincible with these mobs, and you have no downtime.

Anyone that uses wowhead can obviously do better exp/hr wise but it was fun for a little bit using the golem for EXP.

The Iron Thane and His Anvil are in the basement of the building that is atop of Dun Argol. The entrance to the building is at 75.83, 62.10.

didnt realise at first but kill the dude not try to kill the other golem. the emp takes his shield down and stuns the the golem so you can damage the dude and dont get wasted by both of them.

Okay, I thought I would add a comprehensive post for this group of quests for everyone:

Do the following 3 quests together:

Put on Your Best Face for Loken
The Iron Thane and His Anvil
Blackout
Once inside Dun Argol, put on the disguise and head over to the building at 81,60 and complete the "Put on Your Best Face for Loken" quest
Once you are done with that, do NOT remove your disguise or turn in the quest and head over to the building at 76,63 and go to the lower level.
Bomb the power core and this completes the "Blackout" quest.
While your are still in the building on the lower level and exercising some care to not be in aggro range, remove your disguise and activate your War Golem.
EMP Anvil and attack Iron Thane Furyhammer. Anvil will be disabled for only so long so you'll probably have to EMP him again. Once Iron Thane is dead, this completes the "The Iron Thane and His Anvil" quest. After I killed Iron Thane, I destroyed Anvil too so I could loot them both.
At this point I jumped out of the War Golem, put my disguise back on and walked out of Dun Argol.

It is possible to have the disguise from this quest on and be in the Charged War Golem simultaneously, but all surrounding mobs will still be friendly. So remember to remove the disguise if you want to kill Iron Thane Furyhammer.

mindlessly following quest helper i just killed the golem and the thane without using the quest item, just kill the golem, then kill the thane. not very hard. but using the quest item is ofc faster. just pointing out that its not all that hard. frost dk in tanking gear lvl 74

As hunter, you can go out golem after killing Iron Thane Furyhammer.

Anvil does almost nothing to my pet. Many misses, low damage hit. Almost no extra healing needed. It's only little long fight because Anvil's health, but fight is safe for pet and to you. Look only out for 2 mobs near the power core, but i'm at L75 thus aggro risk is a bit lower.

It's interesting fight.
The pet near me is also friendy with disguise to mobs... :) No need to dismiss your pet.
Use Aspect of the Cheetah spell is possible to run a bit faster without risk.

I use golem to kill extra mobs. It's indeed fast with around 1500 nature dmg per hit, but it miss sometimes.
Critical is almost double damage: around 3000 dmg!
Only Sentrys are immune for it. Better kill Sentrys in normal mode.

Now i think about it.. if you have turned in too early the quest http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=12185, you cannot walk easy inside the building with disguise.
But you may use the charged war golem to kick ass the mobs inside the building. It goes fast enough, even cloth classes can use it.

When health is low, just go out, wait some seconds, jump in, you see the golem is already at full health.

Most definate use the Overseer Disguise kit all the way down to and then kill everything at the bottom and then blow it up, Then turn it all in. very easy disguised going in and out. Sure was a long Quest lol..

Very easy. Just come to the place where Thane stays (to the very down), kill all the dwarfs doing something around (mining some stuff) to have a clear area during the fight with Thane - be careful to not aggro Thane yet. Summon golem and start the fight with Thane. Cast EMP to paralyze Anvil and engage Thane, then cast EMP each time Anvil "wakes up", charge Thane with 1 in between and as soon as he starts whirlwind just flee away, when he stops - attack him with skill 1 again, rinse and repeat, they have no chance. Ignore Anvil of course. Do not try doing any damage to it, it's not important.

Dont exit your golem in combat!
If you exit the golem while in combat you UI will bug and you wont be able to do anything.

i was just gonna exit the golem and bubble cuz i didnt wanna fight my way back out, but when i left the vehicle i got no actionbars or anything, all i could do was autoattack....
ofc i died and when i ressed i still didnt have any actionbars -.-

Edit: problem is solved by relogging ofc.

I killed the anvil and then thane killed my golem, warlock i summoned my helper and took him out and bombed power core and re entered my golem and walked out..thot i was done for.

Travel to Dun Argol and find the big building at 75.8 62.0 spot. Get to the building, there you'll see Iron Thane Furyhammer on the bottom level.
Jump down (or use elevator) and use Golem Control Unit to activate golem. Defeat both Iron Thane Furyhammer and The Anvil.

Description

Now that you've charged up your war golem, we're going to put all that energy to good use. Activate the golem inside Dun Argol to take control of it.

Our information about Dun Argol's leader, Iron Thane Furyhammer, suggests his bodyguard protects him from all harm.

That bodyguard is the construct he travels with, called The Anvil. Disable the construct, and his protection will disappear.

The thane stays in the building at the top of Dun Argol and supervises production from the bottom level.
