The item they give you to buff the giants stacks with anyone else's buff that is already on and you can make a giant ridiculously big using it.

Whenever you rally a giant, an drill will come up from the ground and spawn an iron dwarf. This makes it easy to complete both requirements at once.

Find a melee stone giant on the field.
Cast the buff on the stone giant to get credit for rallying the troops.
A few seconds later an Iron Rune Avenger will come up from the ground.
Kill the Iron Rune Avenger to get credit for slaying it.

It's confusing at start, but it's very quick and easy exp when you know what to do.

This can be very dangerous when your running around and a good giant dies, making you deal with the attackable giants.

Hide from the Runed Giants! No serious, they rape anyone, and their DoT attack (Dark Rune)is hilarious...Ends up at 3k damage/each 2 sec.

Anyone who fights with a pet here is a Tip! Cast the buff on the stone giant ( Make sure to tap one near the front line) and when the dwarf appears send your pet on him and start to work on the Elite giant and kill him and then kill the Dwarf.
Now the front line giants think there is a Grizzly Hills Giant to fight and you can tap it and a dwarf will spawn and that's all you hafta fight. I got 4 taps on one dead Grizzly Hills Giant.

Make sure you pull the Avenger away from the 2 fighting giants..then you wont get the bad giant attacking you after he kills the good giant.

if your near the elites when the friendly giants get killed they will try and kill you.

If you were forgetting to kill the dwarfs (like I did) you can still use the blessing to bless a giant & a dwarf will come up & you can proceed to kill it.

You need to use the shard on the giants around 69,13; then a dwarf will spawn and you should kill it.

Careful: if you come near a hostile giant who is not fighting a friendly giant, he will attack you, and the gy is far. Try to pick friendly giants with 30%+ health so as not to risk it, they die fast.

Be very aware of the good giants health when you are next to it. If a bad giant kills the good and aggros on you, you will die. Then you have a nice run back to your body...

You have to use the item Shard of the Earth in the Grizzly Hills Giant that are fighting against the Rune Giant's, then the Grizzly Hills Giant you become bigger, and one dwar will spawm and you have to kill him. You have to do that 5 times.

IF you aggro the "Bad" giants, (when the good one dies). Just run out to the south west toward the quest giver. Have to run quite a ways to break combat. BUT extremely better than running from the GY to your body.

Didnt like this quest much. I dont like big things in the game like giants and stuff, I find they spool the game. When they are an ODD ELITE or a BOSS then Ok, when you see something big youve got to kill as a one off it like, woooooo, but when they are everywhere it spoils it for me. They are clunky and the animation is not as good as smaller NPC's.

Easy for hunters. Cast spell, walk a bit back, the enemy shal not attack you immediately.
Pull him to you to make distance from red giants (because green giants can die soon) so you can fight mobs without problems.

The dwarves come out of these giant drill things from the ground after you rally a troop. They remind me of the ones used by Shredder to visit the imprisoned Baxter Stockman in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

Trying to (and failing) to buff the throwing giants showed me a little trick, which allowed me to safely eat/drink after killing the dwarf mobs, and quickly finish the quest without running around:

Your best bet for safely doing this quest without aggroing the enemy giants is to wait at the line of giants that are throwing boulders. This is where the meleeing giants spawn. You cast the rallying buff on them as they're running, the dwarves spawn at the the spot the giant was buffed (safely away from the battle), and since they're buffed before aggroing any mobs, you don't pull aggro as a healer if the enemy mob kills them.

It might seem overally obvious to some, but the giants you want to target with the shard are in RED. And yes, be sure to pick the red giants with 30% + health or you will aggro the opposing giant and have a looooong walk back to your body....doh!

The quest NPC is just to the North of where you obtained the quest. There are some Giants throwing large boulders, you will be in need of the Giants that are running toward the Runed Giants. And after using the item the other quest NPC will come out the ground in a drill looking thing and then you get the kill portion of the quest.

I had some problem understand what do to in this quest. Go to 69, 7 and use the received quest item at the Giants. Then a dwarf will spawn, kill the dwarf. You have to use the item at melee fighting giants and not the ones who're throwing rocks.

Find a figthing friendly giant. Rush to him, cause some of them has very low health by the time you get there they die, use the quest item. They'll be fully healed immediately. This is 1. Then a dwarf mole will come up and the dwarf will attack you. Kill it, that's the other part of the quest. Rally the giants five times, kill that incoming dwarves five times. And the quest is done.

Ran into the problem of finished buffing the giants without killing enough dwarves. Found I could still buff another giant to draw a dwarf out of the ground. Continue until both parts of quest are fulfilled.

You have to buff with Shard of the Earth those stone giants which already in combat.
When you buff any, there's mole machine come and a dwarf appears that you need to hunt down.

Let me guess, you're here because you picked up the quest and tried to use Shard of the Earth on the Grizzly Hills Giants who are throwing boulders into the chasm over Thor Modan and got Invalid Target, right?

The correct place you need to go is the Boulder Hills field just behind, where Runed Giants are fighting Grizzly Hills Giants. Run over to a Grizzly Hills Giant and use the Shard of the Earth to buff and heal them, and a Thor Modan Mole Machine will arrive, containing an Iron Rune Avenger who will engage you in combat to retaliate for what you just did. Kill him and you now have 1 buffed Giant and 1 Iron Dwarf slain. Repeat until complete!

This quest is the worse case of the programmers not knowing what they're doing as far as consistency goes. Some quests, when in a group, all group members get credit for the actions, such as Rain Death Upon Them while quests like The Horse Hollerer where each group member has to scare 15 horses, then quests like this one which is half and half. All group members got credit for killing the Iron Rune Avenger but not for rallying the Grizzly Hills Giant. Where is the logic in that? Half the quest is group friendly, the other half isn't.

And, where is the logic in putting a timer on Shard of the Earth? Seriously, if it takes less time than the timer's 30 seconds to kill the Iron Rune Avenger you have to sit on your hind end waiting. Why? That's one of those things that should be instant available. I mean, you have to kill the Avenger so you can't just rally the giant and go on with your happy little life. What's the point of putting timers on things like this? These questions are for the developers. I'm sure any player would just be guessing. It's just one more thing I believe the developers have set in place to frill with the players. I know we all have encountered these timers in a lot of quests, sitting around twiddling our thumbs waiting to use an item that really should be available as soon as the last mob was killed or item collected or fire started or whatever the quest calls for that they put a timer on the item we need to advance the quest.

While I'm on a roll what is the purpose of having quest items disappear when one player picks it up so the next player, standing next to them, has to "wait for respawn"? You guys were good with legions, but why can't you do the same with older content, such as The Damaged Journal where I'm standing next to my group partner as he picks up a missing page, it disappears so I have to go find another one. You were able (and thank you very much) to set the mining nodes and herb bushes to stay for a bit while the next miner or herbologist collects the same node or bush. (Not sure why you can't do the same with skinning) so why can't you do the same with old content quest items? The answer is, you can. You've chosen not to.

I really think these programmers sit up, late at night drinking beer and brainstorming how best to mess with the players in the next xpac. Then program it in only to sit up the next night doing the same thing. There are just way too many instances where it makes no sense why we have to wait or group has to scare their own set of horses or whatever for it not to be on purpose and maybe even a challenge to see who can come up with the most creative way to frill with us and not be overly obvious.

Use the Shard of the Earth to rally the Grizzly Hills Giants fighting in the Boulder Hills, kill any iron dwarves who oppose you, then report to Kurun on the hill overlooking Thor Modan.

Description

The sons of iron have used their runes to enthrall many of my brothers and are using them to break the siege on Thor Modan. I wish we did not have to fight them, but we have no choice.

My giants will not hold out long against them.

I have imbued this earthen shard with a blessing that will aid our allies. Take it with you to the battle in the Boulder Hills to the north, and use it to reassure and fortify my brethren.

Kill any iron dwarves who would stand in your way.
