This mount has a chance to be the reward for participaing in Island Expeditions. As of the current beta version, all the Island Expedition mounts appear to be awarded randomly, but it's probably fair to assume that they have a higher drop chance when winning the scenario.

There are a total of 5 mounts from the Island Expeditions, with the other four being:
- 暮光复仇者
- 呱呱鹦鹉
- 秦薛的永恒魁麟
- 岩角跃渊者

Can confirm having gotten 拍浪水母 as of August 17th, 2018 on a Heroic difficulty victory (Proof: https://imgur.com/vHmmRqf).
Don't know how lucky I am based on the fact that no one has said a word about this mount so far!

Edit #1: Can also confirm receiving it just after reaching the required Azerite progress bar (2.5k AP reward) for the week, not sure if that matters or not.
Edit #2: Turns out everyone that got this mount or any other mount from expeditions very early into the expansion were EXTREMELY lucky. Blizzard themselves have said that they have increased the drop rates substantially since September 14th, hinting that the drop chances were abysmally low. Anyone that has received any mount prior to the hotfix should consider themselves very fortunate!
Edit #3: Speculation and data seems to hint at targeting certain mob types to increase your chances of getting these mounts to drop. In regards to the Surf Jelly, however, I do not remember seeing or killing any Naga or Saurok during the expedition in which I got the mount. It could just be tied to any aquatic mob type, but for now we will have to wait and see until Blizzard clarifies how loot is distributed in Island Expeditions.

This info will probably not be relevant long, but I can confirm that I got this from a Heroic Loss to PvE, the first one I did after the initial tutorial.

When I got it I initially assumed it was an AQ-Type zone-specific mount just because of getting it first run.

Received 拍浪水母 on a Normal Difficulty Island Expedition at the victory screen. It appeared a few seconds after the azerite reward. I've also submitted a screenshot as well; good luck fellow collectors!

The mount is only usable underwater. And it doesn't give you water breathing, be careful.

Especially if you mount up on it, take a few screenshots, then come to wowhead to reveal in your luck, only to return to the game to see that the Surf Jelly is part siren and lured you to your death.

Got 拍浪水母 from a heroic island expedition Win, we were full premade party.
I also got 荒野树皮踏靴 from the same win. Yes its possible to get more than 1 loot from island expedition!

Got this from a Normal difficulty Expedition win- unlike all other rewards (pets, transmogs, quests) that I have received this one does not seem correlated to the types of enemies that you kill, as far as I can figure, and seems truly random. Did not encounter any naga or mulocs that I would assume are associated with the drop of this mount.

I just dropped this mount in normal verdan wilds island, in a total of 448 islands completed (220 after blizz buff the rates).

This is a very low drop, i think the drop may be related to sauroks/sea giants/water elementals your team kill in island. I am not sure if killing nagas also may drop this mount. Maybe this mount can be related to other mobs too, we need more info.

Some great news on these drops and ways to have a better shot at them! For those who have not seen it yet, Wowhead posted an article that mostly spells out how to have a higher chance to get them and how this was determined:

So if you queue up with people and are wanting these, it seems best to kill the named rares, loot treasures and focus killing the mobs who are invading as well (when those occur (seemingly more in normal mode)) along with the same types of mobs who these drops belong too (and some of those are still being figured out). This may also mean not killing the elementals that spawn, as was mentioned by some in comments.... Good luck to all and credit to all those involved in figuring this out!

I just got the Surf Jelly 拍浪水母 mount from Normal Island Expedition 'Whispering Reef'. I have done it about 30 times. I also got Inky a battle pet at the same time. Will add links to photo for proof that you can get mount and pet together.

I got it on normal. Just confirming difficulty does not matter, not even for mounts.
It ONLY works underwater. You cannot even use it to travel on top of the water, it instantly dismounts you.

I have started to compile a simple guide of what to target on expeditions, based on what ive read on comments, it’s a bit empty at the moment, but hoping everyone can help me update (id put this all in a table if i could work out how - sorry)

A few things to note:

The mounts can drop on all difficulties, at any level, and even if you lose

The below is not 100%, as ive stated above this is just info ive gathered from comments, there could be more to add, which I will as I find out

Make sure to loot all chests that have a rare or mob guarding them

Do all invasion types

Got it while leveling an alt through Island Expeditions was lvl 118 at the moment. Special mobs killed were Pirates.

I can confirm that you don't have to kill Saurok to get the surf jelly, I got it from an island without any Saurok appearing.

I Started doing normal ie's on my Demon Hunter twink and when 兔子的咒符 came I bought a lot of them and sent them over to my main character and started running mythic ie's. I used three accounts while I was doing ie's. My other two accounts were afk on the ship while I was running around looting and gathering azerite on my main. (Since I had 3 accounts my total attempts are 14061) I wrote my attempts below as one account and my attempts as 3 accounts in parentheses.

after opening 250 of every single salvage box in ptr i can confirm that this is the ONLY island expedition mount that does not exist in ANY of the new salvage boxes (atleast on PTR) make sure you report that so blizzard can fix it.

I had all the mounts aside from Risen Mare and Surf Jelly. Comments on Wowhead were really confusing me about how to obtain the Surf Jelly as I bought tons of the Elemental Salvage and never got it.

Today, purchased a Skittering Hollow Salvage and obtain:

1x Surf Jelly
2x Spider Acolyte's Leggings
