This mount has a chance to be the reward for participaing in Island Expeditions. As of the current beta version, all the Island Expedition mounts appear to be awarded randomly, but it's probably fair to assume that they have a higher drop chance when winning the scenario.

There are a total of 5 mounts from the Island Expeditions, with the other four being:

- 呱呱鹦鹉
- 拍浪水母
- 秦薛的永恒魁麟

In order to have a chance a looting this mount, you need to run an island with yetis on it. As of 8.1, you don't need to kill any to have the mount on your loot table, just having yetis on the island gives you a shot at the mount. It might be worth mentioning that it seems like there's often more yetis on 恐惧群岛 than any other islands. You can loot it at any level, from any island difficulties, and from both winning and losing.

This mount is a recolor of 挑战德拉诺：白银's 挑战者的作战雪人 (now unobtainable) and 格噜普斯的爪牙 that you can obtain in a 狂野礼物 during Christmas, or that you can buy at the AH.

Can anybody confirm that the mounts from Island Expeditions drop on any difficulty? Or only Mythic expeditions?

This mount is a rare drop from island expedition. In order to even have a chance, craghorn or yeti tipes need to spawn in the island.

Yetis and craghorn always spawn in Dread Chain (ice island). In another islands they may spawn in caves, but not very usual to happen.

According to blizzard, the chances are higher in hard difficulties, which implies that mythic have the best chances.

Some great news on these drops and ways to have a better shot at them! For those who have not seen it yet, Wowhead posted an article that mostly spells out how to have a higher chance to get them and how this was determined:

So if you queue up with people and are wanting these, it seems best to kill the named rares, loot treasures and focus killing the mobs who are invading as well (when those occur (seemingly more in normal mode)) along with the same types of mobs who these drops belong too (and some of those are still being figured out). This may also mean not killing the elementals that spawn, as was mentioned by some in comments.... Good luck to all and credit to all those involved in figuring this out!

I got this mount on Dread Chain today.

I'm not sure whether we have killed any yetis or craghorns. The DH in my team pulled many Kvaldir and other kinds of mobs together, and then just soloed them himself.

The invasion was Mogu. I entered the portal and killed the rare elite but I didn't open the chests behind him.

Just got this mount on 31.10 on the The Dread Chain map. (Argent Dawn EU) Here's some details:

I was on normal mode
I was level 119
We killed 10 or so Craghorn Yetis (didn't focus on them)
We went into a kvaldir portal and killed "Hjana Fogbringer" inside
The expedition otherwise went horribly and was a defeat (lost by about 200 points)

So there's a few interesting things to confirm.

They drop on normal mode
They can drop for lower levels
Killing either and/or craghorn yetis or the named kvaldir bosses affect it's drop rate (possibly only the yetis)
Mounts can drop even if you lose the expedition

Can also confirm that it's a very rare drop, and the only mount I've gotten out of more island expeditions
than I care to count. Good luck!

I have started to compile a simple guide of what to target on expeditions, based on what ive read on comments, it’s a bit empty at the moment, but hoping everyone can help me update (id put this all in a table if i could work out how - sorry)

A few things to note:

The mounts can drop on all difficulties, at any level, and even if you lose

The below is not 100%, as ive stated above this is just info ive gathered from comments, there could be more to add, which I will as I find out

Make sure to loot all chests that have a rare or mob guarding them

Do all invasion types

I dropped this mount in a myt dread chain yesterday. Lots of yetis and wendigos found in the island.

I Started doing normal ie's on my Demon Hunter twink and when 兔子的咒符 came I bought a lot of them and sent them over to my main character and started running mythic ie's. I used three accounts while I was doing ie's. My other two accounts were afk on the ship while I was running around looting and gathering azerite on my main. (Since I had 3 accounts my total attempts are 14061) I wrote my attempts below as one account and my attempts as 3 accounts in parentheses.

If you are thinking "omg" after reading the other comments then dont worry as there is another way to get these island mounts ,which is way much better than this rng . So i have made some posts which i will be copy pasting here ,now the way to get these mounts is still rng but way much less than drop from island .There is a vendor near the Island Expedition Map Table - Captain Kitt for the Horde and Captain Nightrunner for the Alliance which sells some boxes ,those are only available 3 per week regardless of what island is underway and those boxes are 175 seafarers dubloons each . So i m just copy pasting the mount info from my main post .

Now these are the drops from 175 Seafarers-Dubloon Epic boxes , the other boxes for 120 Seafarers-Dubloon has a chance to drop Stonehide-Elderhorn and Surf-Jelly

Now there are like 3 to 4 items in each box which can include mount/pet/mog/azerite quest .
So Good Luck as the drop rate is around 20% give or take and doing mythic at this point is not that hard as it was before and u get quite a lot of duns from mythics .

Strange. I got this to drop from 约伦达尔打捞品. Totally unexpected as it wasn't listed here. Guess it is a very small chance.
