The trinket's totem counts as a water totem, so if you drop this it will destroy any other water totem you have out (or vice-versa.) Being able to use this and a mana spring/tide right after will make casters in your party very happy campers :)

This totem is a nice "upgrade" to the standard mana totem you'll at the level you receive this quest, although it comes at the cost of taking up a trinket slot.
Mana Spring, Rank 4 (level 56): 300 mana over 60 seconds, no cooldown.
This trinket: 324 mana over 24 seconds, 3-minute cooldown.
Mana Tide, Rank 3 (level 58): 1160 mana over 12 seconds, 5-minute cooldown.

I recommend getting this trinket as well, but only using it in parties (where you'd want your whole party to get the 288 mana--the above poster is wrong in saying it's 324) unless you a) don't have any better second trinket already or b) know you're going into an endurance fight.
(24 sec / every 2 seconds) * 27 mana = 288 mana total for every member in the party.
Since level 35, I've been using the Figurine - Jade Owl (
https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=21748
). That's 30 mana every second for 12 seconds (30 * 12 = 360 mana). It also has some very minor stats on it. I prefer to keep this trinket equipped with another trinket (in my case for now it's Mark of the Chosen), since I can usually throw down a mana spring totem without blowing a cooldown.
Again, I DO recommend getting this trinket though -- it does not share a cooldown with the Figurine - Jade Owl and together they make a very powerful combination for endurance fights!

I'll point out that this trinket seems to be effected by the +Mana Spring talent in the Resto tree.
My level 70 Resto Shaman friend gains 33-34 Mana every 2 Seconds with it.
Now is it worth a trinket slot at 70? Doubtful. /shrug

What a lot of ppl don't understand here, is that mana tide totem is gained through spec'ing 31 points deep into resto, and most shamans at this lvl and while lvling father past this, are usually elemental/enhancement, making this trinket, amazing, and it deffinately is NOT a waste of a trinket slot imo.

This trinket causes problem while being used with Vuhdo with the option: Auto-Trigger Trinkets on. You simply cannot cast any spells that uses the GCD while you have the option enabled and the trinket equipped.
Walkaround: Disable Auto Trigger until you replace the trinket.

Not sure if anyone said this already, but I get it to 9mp5 overall to everyone in the group.
27/2 = 13,5 (mana each second of its uptime)
13,5*24 = 324 (total mana gained)
324/3 = 108 (mana gained per minute when counting cooldown)
108/12 = 9 (mana gained per 5 seconds when counting cooldown)

The problem with this trinket is that you can so easily override it with a lesser Mana Spring Totem using Call of the Elements or its kin, as stated by the first poster here. Whereas normally Blizzard will tell you "A higher spell is active," my level 1 Mana Spring Totem (16 Mp5) supplanted the more effective totem without error messaging me.
I'm not sure if Blizzard forgot that the effect of Call of the Elements could override a higher spell, or is just putting it upon the Shaman to avoid using a mana totem when this trinket is in use. I do remember a time when I would pick and choose each of my totems if I used them at all but now I just use Call of the Elements.
Honestly as cool as Blizzard is about making things go smoothly, I think Blizz needs to get in there and write some code so Call of the Elements users can't override the effects of this otherwise bootykicking trinket.

I did the quest tonight and chose the mana totem trinket. Accept your role in PVE and be a support class. Sure the gloves will help you but if you actually support your groups you will be invited to DM and MC and can get a much better pair of gloves. You will never have the chance to get a totem like this again. You can always replace the other items.
I'd rather give my group an extra 1500 mana so they can cause 2500+ more damage or give 5000+ more health. I chose a support class to support others and that's the reward I choose.

Quote: Obahron (Thanks for this)
(A) "Mana Totem IV (no cooldown) = cost 205 mana
12 mana ever 2 sec
70 sec duration
Mana given= 437.5 over 70sec
(B) Mana Tide III (5min cooldown) = cost 60 mana
240 mana ever 2 sec
12 sec duration
Mana given= 960 over 12sec
(C) Mana Trinket (3min cooldown) =cost 0 mana 34 mana ever 2 sec
34 sec duration
Mana Given= 578 over 34sec"
70sec+ 12sec+ 34sec= 116sec. Meaning over 116sec (less than 2min), 1975.5 mana is given to you and all your group. This will give you enough mana to cast another 'Mana Totem IV' after 116sec. Thats another 437.5 mana to yourself and group. Meaning 2413 mana over 116sec + 70sec= 186sec (just over 3min). now the cooldown on your 'mana trinket' will be ready, so you go ahead and use it and give yourself and group another 578 mana over 34 sec. Now if you add the 34sec to 186sec you get 220sec (3.6min). So bottom line is=============>>> 220sec (3.6min) = 2991 mana. So simply hit (A) => (B) => (C) => (A) => (C), thats 2991 mana in 220sec.
This type of chain can possibly be the most useful thing you can do as a shaman in a long boss fight such as onyxia or even ragnaros. Of course in theory it can sometimes be different from in game playing. But if you do manage to perform this chain the bottom line is you give yourself and group 2991 mana over 220sec! not to mention only 1.4 min after the chain you cast 'Mana Tide III' thats another 960 mana. 2991+ 960= 3951 mana, not including spirit bonus. That's 3951 mana in 5min 12sec- CRAZY!
Any shaman who wouldnt choose the trinket reward is a jack ass in all meaning. There are better staffs and gloves by far in end-game encouters for shaman. The trinket is the best reward out of the 3 for end-game encounters without a doubt.

1. The totem is affected by 3 Earthfury items bonus. Yes, it gets +10y radius. So, 30y radius.
2. The totem is affected by Eventide(Increases the duration of your Healing Stream and Mana Spring totems by 10 sec.) and ImprovedManaSpringTotem(Increases the effect of your Mana Spring Totem by 25%) talents. Insane. If u have those talents that trinket gives 34mana each tick during 34seconds. That's 17 ticks. So 34*17=578 mana. On 3sec cooldown. Without any manacost. So during random boss fight in mc (7-10 mins) it gives 578mana*3=1734mana. While two mana tides gives 2400 mana. So. What it tells us? Blizzard just stealth-buffed shammys :) We got one more mana tide.
3. The totem created with this trinket is still water totem, so u can't have both this totem and on of the other important water totems (like FireRes one) active at one time.
/cheer
Ps: BTW. That's very sad that Blizzard give that quest at lvl50. Couse many unexpierienced shammys will take other reward, without knowing what they miss. So sad.
SO PLZ ALL SHAMMYS! IF U DON'T KNOW WICH REWARD U SHOULD TAKE - TAKE THIS ONE. U'LL SAY THX TO ME WHEN U'LL GET TO HI-END RAID INSTANCES.

Cooldown is only 3 min. So you you can use it every pull.
Think of it this way . . .
324 mana = +21.6 Intellect . . . just to you PERSONALLY. And it does the same for every mana-user in the group. So in a short fight, it's like a +21.6 Intell. buff for every mana-user in the party and that's on top of any other Intellect buffs you may have.
Now, say you're in a long 15 min. boss fight in Zul'Gurub or something. You drop it 5 times. That's an extra 1,620 mana for every caster in your group! Or like giving everyone in your group a +108 Intellect buff.
Very powerful item. The only downside I see is that it won't be very useful in fights against fire-damage mobs and mobs that poison/disease, because you will need to use those totems instead.
评论来自

Yeah you got a point Grishnaak. Against fire/disease/poison casting bosses shamans will need to use fr, poison cleansing and disease cleansing totems. But other long boss fights, the trinket will be VERY useful indeed.

So lets say you have a mindtap talisman that you normally use during those boss fights and you decide to use this spirit instead (as you cannot change trinkets in combat you need to have it on the whole time). During those 3 mins you would be getting 11mana/5sec from the mind tap. That is: 396 mana you would get during 3 mins. THAT is the cost of the manatotem. Now the enamored manaspirit will help those casters in your party and wil give them between 240 and 340 mana. For those 20 some seconds they get more mana than they would get from a manaspring totem which you can also cast.
What it ends to is that:
1) This is a decent trinket
2) You need to have several casters in your group for this trinket to be useful
3) This trinkets usefulness is highly dependent on what other trinkets you have. (THIS is the point that was not taken into consideration in the other posts unless I missed the message that had this point.)
4) Usefulness of this trinket is affected by your spec.
I recently specced out of mana tide totem because I was normally in parties where there were normally 2 casters in group with me. Then the manatide was not that useful anymore and the talents leading to it were more or less useless. With mana tide, mana spring, and this trinket a single shaman could significantly affect the amount of mana other casters have in his group if he would be grouped with 4 other casters.

Whether you have the talent points or not, this trinket does not suck, but the talents do make it better. When in 40-man raid group, this trinket will help out quite a bit.
To Ceaphion:
First, it does NOT stack with Mana Spring Totem. It conflicts with any other water totem. Those of you thinking 'yay I can beef up my Mana regen' are mistaken. Go mana tide spec if you want that.
But it DOES beef up your mana regen. I'm sure you've seen the gear with "X mana every X seconds". It all adds up. To your priest who will most likely have high spirit or the regen mechanics on his gear, this is a blessing. Overall, that's quite a bit mana, and they'll love you for it.
Second, it is a TRINKET. It has a 30 second cooldown on equip, and a 3 minute cooldown on use. And of course you can't change trinkets in battle. So you have to have this on at the start of the boss. And you lose the effects of whatever trinket you might have otherwise used.
I can't think of many other "useful to the group" trinkets you could possibly use over this on say, like Broodlord. But yes, this trinket isn't all that much more useful in smaller instances.
Third, it's a grand total of 324 mana per party member. That's the equivalent of 1.8 mana points per second, because of the 3 minute cooldown. Even at level 50, that was useless for me. Furthermore, being a shaman, I am grouped strategically for my totems. So maybe myself and two other members of my party get a grand total of 972 mana every three minutes.
Again, this is mana regen while casting and it adds up (Spirit or Mana Regen).

if ur shaman also has the lvl40 talent from resto spec u can use both (not stacking, one after) and fill with mana the casters of ur whole party for a whole boss fight =B

WOW, think about it, its as simple as this. Lets assume you HAVE the mana tide totem. Anyway, that thing has a 5 min cooldown... what do you do in those 5 mins? I KNOW, USE THE TRINKET TOTEM! Besides not being a cast and costing no mana (as to not kill ur regen and pool) It has a cooldown independent to the tide. So the extra wave of mana is still a bonus. Gloves and Staff are replaceable, get the trink.

Can we spend some time addressing Sisyfos's point please? I'm still new to the game so I don't know all the different high level trinkets; Nevertheless, assessing the tricket based off of other trickets seems like a valid point to me. I understand completely that getting the trinket is the way to go because its definitely unique and fun to have compared with the other more "common" items. However, how good is this trinket? Will it eventually be replaced as well by another?

Loads and loads of comments about something that should really be a simple decision.
Doesn't matter what other trinkets are out there, how many of them you have or even if your an engineer who swims in trinkets.
THIS IS THE ONE AND ONLY CHANCE YOU WILL HAVE TO GET THIS ONE.
Like others have said The staff & gloves are ok but will be replaced by better fairly quickly.
Doesn't really matter whether you plan on using it now. Point is it's a one chance only item that has a great use in raids. For one, I like getting the mana benefit too (which I don't really get from the normal mana totem) - due to the lack of mana cost.

A must for restoration shaman. It give mana charge spamming effect. Even your group tanker appreciate this, it give enough mana for healer to pump some hp to the tanker.
For elemental/enhancement shaman, get this trinket in case you want to respec your shammy in the future. You can get better stuff from AH, but not this trinket. Tutrle scale guantlets will give similar specs minus the crit, agi spec and armor with rugged armor kit,

I have to enjoy all the comments from people comparing it to Mana Spring. Mana Spring costs about 200 mana to cast, and gives you back slightly more than that. This trinket costs 0 mana to cast.
Moreover, look at the mana-to-time ratio, with Resto talents:
34 mana/2 seconds for 34 seconds every three minutes =
578 mana to everyone in your party
To give you a reasonable comparison, Mindtap Talisman gives you 432 mana, doesn't give anyone else any mana. It doesn't take up a trinket slot.
This becomes even better than Mindtap over, say, a 4 minute fight, in which it would give you ~1200 and Mindtap would give you ~500-600.
Let's look at another comparison. 578 mana/3 minutes is how much mana per 5 minutes?
578*5/3= ~963
Well! Look at that! As much Mana/5 minutes as Mana Tide, at the cost of a trinket slot and totem slot. You'll miss approximately 1 Mana Spring due to this, but you also won't have to cast it, meaning you save that mana... A total of ~100 missed mana from the Mana Spring, in exchange for uber leet sexyness. Take the trinket, young ones.

Does the cooldown of this trinket share the cooldown of Mana tide totem?
That is, if you use this trinket, are you able to immediately cast mana tide after it wears off?
Or does the 3 min cooldown prevent you from using mana tide totem directly after?

Im taking the trinket but still its not that good in my view. I mean it gives you 324 mana over 24 sec to all in party =ing up to 1620 mana.
but that is still only 324 to ea person meaning adding 1 extra spell to all in party over 24 sec.
Still cool cuz if you dont have the restor spec
mana tide totem
then you still have a good mana regening totem.
Oh ya, just wondering can any1 tell me that if you die after you cast it dose it stay there for the others in the party. Cuz i know that if you cast a normal totem spell that the totem gose away if you die but this is a trinket? Dose it make any diffrence because its a trinket?
Thanks to all that replided to the question.

With the resoration talents available as they stand in 1.10, this trinket restores 33 to 34 mana every 2 seconds for 34 seconds, or roughly 600 mana per party member.
The other quest rewards are meaningless to a Level60 Raiding Shaman. All of the boss encounters in the end-game instances are helped by having more mana...and by the time you're there, you'll have purple hands, and hopefully, this trinket.
The cost of using this trinket is simply the opportunity cost of not equipping another. Weigh that option when you consider it.

ANY Shaman, and i mean ANY shaman who says this trinket sucks is a complete idiot who has NO idea how to play a class correctly.
Instead of casting Mana spring, you use this to restore twice as much mana. You guys cant look at the long term here, this is a once a fight thing. How many fights last long enough to use a trinket twice? (maybe the 3min cooldown yea but thats it). And since this costs ZERO mana to cast, you're not wasting mana to cast a mana spring totem. (in actuality the mana spring totem only restores a fraction of mana to you because it COSTS mana to cast).
Now, the moment this totem fades, you simply cast your mana spring totem. If you cant keep up with this, your just dumb and you should delete your WoW account because you suck to much to be a lvl 60.
This trinket is even more obvious for resto shamans because you went for mana tide AKA MANA REGENERATION. So obviously you're more concerned with keeping your groups mana up. This is an obvious choice.
People you are dealing with Ockham's Razor here. You lose a trinket spot for this, but trinkets are setup PRIOR to battle. So what would you want more? This trinket or another one? This trinket is unique, take it. The other rewards are easily replaced later on.

I love this trinket ever since I got it. Here are some of the ways I use it.
1) While grinding, no drink will fully replenish my mana. So I just drop one of these to help out. Mana free and I dont have to wait an extra 30 seconds before the regen effects are fully utilized.
2) It's awesome for raids. 578 mana over 34 seconds is equal to an 85 mana/5 seconds rate for your party! That's double of improved blessing of wisdom for a 30 second duration. Plus BoW doesnt get used when you're standing around at full mana waiting for the kiddies to stop making fart sounds on vent. This is more controllable.
I disagree with the Deltaan for using Mana Tide and this trinket first in raids. I understand their logic that they're trying to use them fast so the cooldown disappears faster. However, most people at the start of boss fights are at full mana and will remain fairly close to that until the 'oh crap' moments come and they use their big inefficient heals. So, my totem dropping is something along the lines of A, A, A (Mana Spring) until one person hits around 70% mana. Then drop B (mana tide) followed by this C(trinket) for a boost. Rinse and repeat.
Not worth it during PvP though unless you're defending a bunker in AV or something.

As has been pointed out by some of the most intelligent and to-the-point posters on Thott and other WoW sites I frequent, the best way to evaluate a trinket is to look at other trinkets that you might choose instead, and compare it to them. Trinkets, even more so than other gear, are all about opportunity cost, since they can do so many different and unique things.
Two of the best "healer" trinkets in the game are the shard of the scale from ony and the rejuvenating gem from the 3 blackwing drakes. These restore 16 mana/5 and 9 mana/5, respectively, and the rejuv. gem has +66 healing on it as well. Okay, let's do some math, assuming you're resto spec with eventide and imp mana spring (so this gives 578 mp when you drop it, rather than the advertised 324):
Scale: 16mp/5
Gem: 9mp/5 (and 66 +heals)
This guy: (578mp)/180s = (3.7mp/sec)(5 sec) = 16mp/5 TO YOU ALONE.
So okay, wait. Here's a level 50 trinket that's not just AS GOOD as one that drops from onyxia, but actually BETTER because it gives burst regen, which can be applied when people are actually low on mana (as opposed to just regenning all the time), AND ALSO BETTER because it gives this bonus to all mana users in your party, not just you.
(Yes, okay, I admit, rejuv gem is better, that +66 healing rocks. IMHO, this is why there are TWO trinket slots....)
How could anyone not take this?
Others have brought up valid points about mobs with fire-, poison-, and disease-based attacks, but as guilds progress they need to lean on the crutch of fire resists and poison cleansing less and less (my guild does rag in our "normal" gear (bout 50/50 Tier1/Tier2) and the bug trio without poison cleansing totems because we don't really need 'em). At this point this little level 50 totem REALLY begins to shine. Priests and mages literally fight to be in a group with a "mana restore" shaman.
So in short, compared to other trinkets available to resto shamans, ANYWHERE IN THE GAME, including BWL and Onyxia, this owns face. My ideal set, as a resto shammy, would be this plus a rejuvenating gem.
If you're an enhancement shaman, get this, then go get a nice blue 2H mace or axe (Resurgence Rod, Fat Princess' Scepter, Rockpounder, Spire of Hakkar) to make up for the staff that you could have gotten here.
If you're an elemental shaman, get this, then go get some gloves somewhere else to make yourself feel better.
One day, when your guild makes you respec mana tide, you'll thank me.
As an afterthought, I hear a lot of people kvetch about shammies getting the short end of the stick when it comes to group mana regen (since pallies get blessing of wisdom), and okay, maybe it's true, a pally can buff a whole raid with wisdom and make that raid regen a lot of mana--but if nothing else, this totem does SOMETHING to relieve the disparity.

A lot of the information on this trinket from these comments is very much out of date. New, updated information (Aug 2, 2007 data pulled) is below:
mp5 = mana restored per 5 seconds
Base trinket restores 27 mana every 2 seconds for 24 seconds on use. (It used to actually last 34 seconds, now it does indeed disappear after 24).
Trinket uses your water totem slot during the time it is in use.
Trinket has a 3 minute cooldown.
The "Restorative Totems" talent affects the trinket, such that with 5/5 points in the talent, the trinket restores (according to the tooltip) 33 to 34 mana every 2 seconds for 24 seconds on use.
Approximately 75% of the improved ticks are actually 34 mana (which fits with the base 27 mana + 25% from the talent - 33.75 mana per 2). WoW rolls to see if you get 33 or 34 mana, so it is possible to get all 33's or all 34's restored on a single use.
The trinket often ticks 13 times instead of the expected 12.
In a period of 3 minutes, there are 36 distinct 5 second periods of time.
Therefore, from the above observations, the following conclusions can be made:
Worst case scenario
is no extra procs, no talent, running solo. In this case, 27 mana is restored 12 times over the course of 24 seconds, for a total of 324 mana restored every 3 minutes.
This is equivalent to 9 mp5.
Extending the worst case
to be shifted into a group with 5 casters, and we get
45 mp5
on a trinket.
Best case scenario
is an extra proc, with 5/5 in the talent, running in a group with 5 casters. In this case, the trinket is restoring 34 mana a tick always. Then, we have 34 * 12 + 34 (extra proc) = 442 mana every 3 minutes, or around 12.3 mp5. 5 casters, and we have an
effective 61.5 mp5 on a trinket.
Bottom Line:
If you can arrange to be in a group with 5 casters, this trinket is one of the best in the game, even at level 70.

This thing, like most of the lvl 50 class quest rewards from Sunken Temple, is not worth a whole lot. When Blizzard buffed many of the lowbie items in instances like Shadowfang Keep and the like, they should have also buffed these rewards so that they would at least be worthwhile until you get better stuff in Outland. That's my take. This trinket doesn't restore enough mana over the standard totems to make it special in any way. Now, were it
percentage based
or if it stacked with standard mana totems, then it would be.

Another problem is acually getting a group for ST. These days instances past L50 are more or less bypassed, as the TBC greens will surpass any non-raid instance drop.

Update: conjured totem is Ancient Mana Spring totem, that overrides usual MS totem but is affected by restoration talents also.
So for Mana-Tide-shamans it gives 34 mana per 2 sec for 34 seconds.
Cooldown is 3 minutes; it is really GREAT item. ;p Must have on the bosses in ZG, MC, BWL.

An interesting information:
The 4 piece bonus of
The Earthshatterer
increases the mana gained from your Mana Spring totems by 25% and the totem made by this trinket as well. This means if you have Restorative Totems talent (+25% effect for mana spring what affect this trinket totem as well) it gives you and your party 40-41 mana per 2 sec for 24 seconds (a total of 486 mana)
It is quite impressive I think!

2) Azurite Fists (Mail Hand Gloves)
3) Windstaff (2h Staff)
The above are the rewards, and you can only choose one! Azurite Fists, believe me you can get better stuff, i use Stonerender gauntlets and its very nice. Windstaff, I don't see how many shamans would use staff. It may look good and stats, but again you can get better staffs. Mini Mana Tide totem trinket? When can you have any future chances of getting one like this :) its a very good trinket, considering shamans who aren't into restoration. Other than that, the quest is easy for Lvl 60's, may take a while for Lvl 50's. So Trinket is for me, i love it

This is a great item. However, the nickname "mini manatide totem" is not entirely true. its more or a regular mana totem on speed.
mana tide totem rank 3
240 mana per tick

lasts 12 seconds
=960 mana total
mana spring totem rank 4
10 mana per tick
every 2 seconds
lasts 1 min
=total of 300 mana
enamored mana totem
27 mana per tick
every 2 seconds
lasts 24 seconds
=total of 324 mana
so it doesn't come near the amount that mana tide gives. Which is how it should be(no trinket should compare to a 31 talent). But it is, in essence, a free mana spring totem that works 3x as fast. definately a must have

Does this totem ite summons cancel out any other Water totems you have out?
Can you have this and a healing stream or this and a fire resist?
