This is currently a weapon open for anyone who could wield it and use it effectively. The reason why many warriors give/pass it to Paladins and Shamans is mainly because many warriors spec Mortal Strike, and well we all know how Mace Spec goes :P.

For 2handed fury, this mace is very powerful indeed.

This weapon is not dropped, but rather may be forged by anyone who has obtained both the Sulfuron Hammer and Eye of Sulfuras. A skilled (300) blacksmith is required to make the hammer, and the Eye drops only, and rarely (about a 3% rate), off of Ragnaros himself. The plans for the Sulfuron Hammer are obtained by turning in a Sulfuron Ingot to Lokhtos Darkbargainer in the Grim Guzzler in Blackrock Depths. There is no reputation requirement to receive the plans.

The Sulfuron Hammer is certianly not worth the cost without having the Eye of Sulfuras. Don't expect to see the EoS drop.

If you do with this, prepare to get lots of flack about tanking other 2h's, even if they're updrages.

This can be made by combining Sulfuron Hammer (made by a blacksmith with 300 skill) and Eye of Sulfuras (3% drop chance from Ragnaros).

Even after instances such as BWL, AQ40 and Naxx, this is a very desireable weapon: the proc is a great equalizer to its lower stats as compared to weapons such as Severance and Ashkandi/Kalimdors, although clearly Dark Edge of Insanity and Naxx weapons like Corrupted Ashbringer/Might of Menethil are superior.

Still, this weapon will serve for quite some time into the expansion, up until quest items such as the Honed Voidaxe are available (and that's a quest item) - I'm very glad I got mine, and have never had cause to regret not waiting for a 2h sword or axe. The high top end damage and the frequent proc make it a very good option, and it is one that Shamen can equip, unlike the swords.

Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros is a crafted/fused mace.

It requires you to get a Legendary (Orange) item to drop from Ragnaros, the last boss in MC call the Eye of Sulfuras.

Once you have the eye you need to gather mats to make Sulfuras, a worse epic BoE version of the mace that you will then combine with the Eye to form the Legendary mace.

Mats for the epic mace are
8 Sulfuron Ingots - Drop off Golemagg the Incinerator in MC
20 Dark Iron Bars - Made from 8 Dark Iron ore which can only be smelted at the Dark forge in BRD near the MC attunment
50 Arcanite Bars
25 Essence of Fire
10 Blood of the Mountain - Rare drop out of Dark Iron Veins
10 Lava Core - Blue BoE drop in MC
10 Firey Core - Blue BoE drop in MC

You will need someone to craft the epic mace. This requires someone to be exualted with the Thorium Brotherhood. They can be any type of blacksmith to forge the hammer which must be done at the Black Anvil located in BRD at Lord Insindus.

Once you have the Eye and the epic hammer fuse them togther to creat Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros

Druids get 24 AP and 120 HP untalented (slightly more with Heart of the Wild). Not. Terribly. Legendary.

Weapon damage and procs are non-factors for weapons in a Druid's form.

The burst damage for other classes is solid, however.

For warriors only? I think not, fellow shamans! I fell this weapon is better for shamans than warriors, personally. With a Windfury Weapon buff, and when it procs, that's almost a guaranteed fiery ball cast (from mace). So, if you're in a MC run, whether its a pick-up group, or a guild run, you have every right to roll need for the materials!

A few interesting tidbits about the Hand of Rag's fireball proc.

The following abilities I've found capable of triggering the fireball:

Instant attacks such as Heroic or Crusader Strike
Seal of Command procs
In some cases judgments have triggered the fireball.

The fireball is capable of critting. With all of these taken into account, a ret paladin heavy on crit gear has the potential for a heavy total damage output with the help of the fireball proc from a single swing or a series of attacks in a very short amount of time. It is an expensive sucker, though.

The fireball is affected by spell dmg.

I tested wearing 400 spell dmg gear VS 0 spell dmg gear. Fireball hits for about 100 more dmg each time with 400spell dmg, not the best spell dmg % but hey it's better than nothing.

It should be noted that the proc rate on Hand of Rag's fireball effectively adds about another 10ish dps, but the extra damage will not scale as your gear improves.

Because of that, I didn't feel comfortable upgrading my HoR until level getting a weapon that had higher end damage and dps was above and beyond what my old, trusty rag had. Well... maybe that and I was a bit overly sentimental. Anyway, Hand of Rag will serve you well until you get a 90 dps weapon. Perhaps the Voidaxe may have been an upgrade, but its top end damage was lower, lacked a proc, and only did one dps more.

i would love to see an sort of ''heroic mode'' for all the old raids, for lvl 70 that is maybe tuned for 25 people or 40 as the orginal one is.
myself never saw either AQ40 or Naxx more then the movies the guild Curse (on Vek'nilash EU) did. :S

Bornakk confirmed they won't, ever, allow upgrade of legendaries.

When you receive a legendary item, it is a special accomplishment that everybody who sees you with it will recognize. We don't want a person to get one of these and have it be so special that they never have to replace it. Like all items, they are meant to have their limit of power and you will eventually find a potential improvement to replace it and move on. We currently have no plans to change our design philosophy and allow items to scale with the player. (source.)

The "eye" had a 1-3% drop rate, off of Rag, which at his time was teh hardest boss in the game.

And it was only 1 peice of 50 needed to create the mace.

Yes and no... Hand of Rag offers superior dps to a lot of 2h Outland weaps, until the mid 60's rares. After about lv 67 there are all too many options for superior dps weapons.

which ofcourse doesnt mean you will be deleting/vendoring/disenchanting it, because nothing says awesome like standing in the city with sulfuras/thunderfury/atiesh and to a lesser degree the glaives, and thoridal looks to be getting as common as the glaives too.

no it wont last you forever, but im pretty sure not even frostmourne will last anyone forever, with progression comes replacement, in the case of this item, thunderfury or atiesh, will it feel like any less of an accomplishment, or feel less legendary standing with guildies?

the answer to that is no, these will never cease to be anything less than the creme de la creme, best of the best, making people jealous and impressing new players with the looks, stats and the great dps and abilities for their level, and even today (thunderfury proc/atiesh aura and the fireball proc on this) are unmatched and unrivaled in ANY other item available.

cherish this, as you would cherish a rare epic mount, a special pet, or that item you worked so long to get that looks so awesome it makes you smile looking at it, because this should make you smile and feel proud just the same and even more.

*edit* perspective is the key, if you had fun and a sense of accomplishment getting this item, it doesnt matter at what level you got it, or if you only had a couple of weeks of use because of a replacement or expansion.

Not true, the Sulfuron Hammer is a Bind on Equip weapon, which means you just need a Blacksmith to craft it for you. All you need to do is get the Eye of Sulfuron from Ragnaros.

Well i am after this mace for 1 year and now i need only 9 sulfuron ignots and the eye of ragnaros(cry) witch i think his drop rate should be biger then 1% = ( cuz i realy want this mace it would make me so hapy i come so far for now but everybody says to me its pointles to go for that but when i see Sulfuras i just cant help myself its so @#$%ing butyful if it takes i will get him in 1 year or 2 years or 10 yeears i wont stop playing this game, i wont even die , until i got that mace cuz i wont die in piece before i hawe it = (

Possible reference to MC Hammer?

The legendary weapon Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros is seen as the ultimate sign of mastery of Molten Core (MC). Due to this hammers connection to MC, it could be seen as a reference to MC hammer.

Actually, from what I've seen there's usually some sort of explanation as to why some characters are 'stronger' than others. For example the reason Kael'thas is stronger than the old world endbosses is because he absorbed all the mana from all of Netherstorm with the manaforges. Illidan, well, he has demonic powers granted by Sargeras, the most powerful titan; I'd say he's stronger than Kel'thuzad who is a mere lackey of Arthas and saying that he's about 10 levels lower than Arthas seems about right. Atiesh is cleansed when the player receives it, so it isn't as powerful as when Medivh wielded it. And so on, so forth.

yea ingot is about 10% drop rate, probably harder to get then the legendary eye nowadays, owing you need so many for Sulfuron Hammer

i've seen about 4 drop in the past 15 kills or so (still run it every week usually)

I just got this hammer on my paladin. The Essences of fire, Arcanite bars, Lava and fiery cores and the Dark Iron bars are by far the easiest mats to get. The ingots and the eye are a lot trickier, but for me, the hardest part were the Blood of the Mountain. Nobody farms Dark Iron anymore (atleast not on my server) so these are really hard to come by.

You can either get them from Dark Iron deposits or Molten Destroyers in MC. In the end, I had bought 9 of them but only got 1 to drop. You might test your luck by farming BRD while waiting for the Molten Destroyers to respawn. You need 230 mining to do this, and farming Dark Iron ore got me to 310 mining. Pretty handy!

It is indeed a healer mace, it's quest chain is a mix between atiesh and quel'sarrar (You have to collect Fragments from the bosses in 25 man Ulduar) and you have to throw the un-finished mace into yogg-sarons maw, and collect it once you have defeated him. It's epic.

I just got the weapon and for those DKs wondering - Rune of the Fallen Crusader does not change the glow in any way. I was worried it will make the hammer glow blue, like it does with Aesir's Edge. But no, the visuals are the same!

To bad this legendary weapon will get removed soon same with Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. I think i mite level a pally to lv 80 quick and get some mates or solo the dam thing so i can get the Sulfuron Ingot for the plans.

Blizzard has stated that Rag will be coming back in Cataclysm as a boss. HOWEVER, it appears from the current info available that MC will not be removed, nor will this item. Rag will simply also appear in another location (apparently Hyjal present) similar to Kael'thas and Magister's Terrace.

Apparently, this will not be available after Cataclysm comes out. I'm not exactly positive but it is what i heard. It's not like you will need it though, but like all legendary items, they are cool to have, so try to get it if you want before Cataclysm.

Eye dropped for me today, after having farmed Ragnaros for it 22 times in total with a druid friend. (80 paladin, 80 druid)
Having played pre BC as a raiding paladin and never had a chance at it, my soul may finally be at peace.

(For anyone still wondering for whatever reasons, having the mace beforehand while farming for it makes no difference whatsoever)

Quick tutorial: How obtain Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros.

1. Go to Molten Core
2. Drop Sulfuron Ingot from Golemagg the Incinerator

4. Exchange 1 Sulfuron Ingot for Plans: Sulfuron Hammer
5. From this moment begins the hardest part. You must do Sulfuron Hammer! You need:

7. Combine Eye with Sulfuron Hammer and create your Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros.
8. Congratulations!

i with there was a pattetn Onxy (or somthing the 500 blue dragon) wish she droped a pattern to make Onxy's Helmet ect... of her scales and u could bend it to be helmets and chests and stuf and it gave you 3000-10000 armor depending if u have done a lot in helmet making and it was for lvl 60 you could make a lot of money in the ah but best to make the set for yourself first if your lucky get like 50 ppl to save for you that would be so cool

Let me clear some things up about this:

First off, we just created this on the Uldum server in my guild, the link in my sig shows it pictured on our Tauren Warrior. Second one on the server, first Horde side.

To clear some things up about creating it...

You don't have to have any reputation with the Thorium Brotherhood to purchase the plans, which lets you create the Epic (purple) BOE hammer that you combine with the Eye from Rag. The person who purchased the plans with the Sulfuron Ingot, from the NPC in BRD, was only Honored with Thorium Brotherhood. You don't need to be revered or exalted.

You DO NOT get the plans at exalted for free. The alliance on our server who also created this, used a player who was Exalted with Thorium Brotherhood, and he still had to pay the 1 ingot. When you combine both the newly created mace, with the Eye (orange) from Rag, it's an instant creation, no cast bar, to create this Legendary.

Really nothing else more to say about it. Takes a crapload of mats, and is extremely costly to make, however for any guild who consistently is running MC, and likely into BWL...it shouldn't take too long. Just wanted to clear the info up, about the rep status you have to attain to purchase the plans...there is none.

well, i tested it in MC full run. Im 28 resto, rest combat, i can make it 10th if i really go mad, i dont have a smallest chance to beat out DPS-freaks!

PVE wise, this mace is a waste in the hand of a shaman, u just cant bring the damage other peoples do.

PVP wise, it owns! Ofcourse always some luck, but WF proccs enought to beam-out some peoples!

my guild has had 4 eyes drop since we first killed rag in the end of january, we completed the first hand of rag on our server cho'gall, i recieved the next eye and two more dropped after, those two left the guild with the eyes and i just completed the weapon and will vouch for how amazing it is, i really doubt there is any weapon that is that much better than it.

The Eye is COMBINED with the other 2H mace to make this. You dont have to have any profession to combine them. >.<

Btw: Bcerda, a 2H mace with high DPS is very good for any paladin. No warrior should be exclusive to get this mace.

think this through: its not v comman, but there are Druids that are shapeshifted most of the time. for them, this mace is certifiably a must have: not only does it afford a nice Sta and str bonus (good for dire bear), but whenever they're attack they deal 5 back automattically (combined with thorns, not nice). would also be interesting to see if the fireball proc would work in bear/cat form, tho i doubt it.

I expected much better for a legendary weapon, maybe it is artifact to open lower silthius, Bonereavers Edge minimum and maximum damage output PWNs this Sulfurias for instant damage abilities like Overpower and Retaliation and it also drops off Ragnaros. Why Blizz Why, its SOOO hard to make and complete and u make it Blah compared to the best Epic Sword, yes the 3.0 speed helps in soloing making for higher DPS but the MINIMUM and MAXIMUM damage is just not worth all the effort.....this is looking at the pure damage of Bonereaver 206-310 or something. Here is the link on Alla..削骨之刃 other input/opinion on Sulfurias, perhaps it is for lower Silthius because I believe Nefarius will be somewhere in Blackrock mountain due to the UBRS appearance. I want his Flame Crown ^^

Firstly, these comments you guys make; are pointless and stupid, but there are some relevant comments (thanks to te more "mature crowd" of this game).

Secondly, there is no "specific class" set to this weapon, so it's avaidable to everyone.

A clever, non-greedy guild would hand this to their most online, best tank first (warrior I would suppose, or to some extent a paladin). Then the next one that is created will be distributed evenly amongst the other tanks.

If there is an abundance of this item being created within the guild, Spreading it to paladins and shamans isn't bad.

Also, considering the druids that are Feral Talented built, the huge DPS would help for that kind of build and the resistance for Dueling mages for instance...

The priority of this weapon, in my opinion, follows :

1-Warrior
2-Paladin
3-Druid (Feral Talented)
4-Shaman
5-Druid(Non-Feral Talented)

got it last sunday, and im shaman :D
Its a crazy guildeffort allthough i got all the maths myself, apart from the cores... 20 cores was provided by guild...anyway, from Resto shaman to DPS :P this weekend i will do my first MCrun ever as DPS shaman, god u cant imagin how happy iam to get rid of the boring healing...

Anyway, WF crits are 1400, a full WFcrit goes for 3-4k, i go for 300DPS+, and u get so fast the aggro that i already save cash to pay my repairbills :D and yes im bragging ;)

Everyone who aim for that baby or got one, can imagin how u feel when finally the eye drop.
Some months of farming and waiting u finally hold it in ur hands. Thanks to my guild at this place, its a guildeffort and im jsut the happy person who can hold it now;)

The proc appears to be a spell so does + spell dmg gear, such as Judgement, effect the damage dealt from the proc?

if so. . . . holy $hit us paladins will have lots of fun with this.

So, let's put this math into use. We'll use 750AP (Weak PvP Gear)

Arcanite Reaper:

(153 + 256) / 2 / 3.8 = 53.8157894..etc
(53.8157894 + 750 / 14) * 3.8 = 408.0714

Sulfuras:

(180 + 303) / 2 / 3.0 = 80.5 (we'll come back to this)
(80.5 + 750 / 14) * 3 = 402.2142

Wow, look at that. AR hits harder. Now, when you factor in total auto-attacks and MS over a set period, Sulfuras will out-damage AR. It's an 80 freaking DPS weapon. But, on a single attack or MS, AR will outdamage it. You would need too much attack power to match reaper in a swing. I'd also take +5% crit over this, as something better is bound to pop up sometime.

And mace spec blows. Also about .00000001% of all warriors will even see this weapon for now.

I have this weapon on Tarren Mill (EU), the proc can crit, and i would say the proc rate is around 15%.
Worth every penny, i have got 1700+ white damage crits with just crusader + vengeance.

I just thought i should clear his up as there seems to be a lot of confusion about the sulfuron hammer and sulfuras itself

1) the sulfuron hammer is bind on equip. yes, this means it can be sold at auction, though if you're guild can make this, chances are the first one will be given to the warrir/palladin/shaman/druid in your guild that won the roll on...

2) the eye of sulfuras. one of 4 known legendry items. this is bind on pick-up, so the eye cannot be traded. it has no use except for being the second component, in addition to the sulfuron hammer, needed to make the only legendry weapon currently around:

3) Sulfuras,Hand of Ragnaros. only 2 in existance, both bind on pickup. 1 is on the live realm shattered hand, owned by an alliance palladin, the second is on a US test realm where multi-copying was carried out for the ingots. this hammer is bind on pickup, which is why if a non 2-handed hammer user rolled the eye, there would be a lot of very unhappy people in that raid...

So, the most powerful hammer in the game has only been made on 1 live server (lets face it, the test realms do not really count). i personally do not want to discuss which class this hammer suits best, except that, as procs don't work in shapeshift, it is of no use to a druid AT THE MOMENT.

i wish there was a letherworking pattern you could get that Onxy the blue 500 dragon and it would give you 5000-10000 armor if you attack with a legendary wepon and with one of these equiped it would give them fear for 1 min it would happen 0.21% of the time when it does happen you pritty much ato win because you got 1 min free hits with 1 of the strongest wepons in the game

Who in the hell lets a warrior tank when using a 2 hander? This weapon should not go to your best tank, it will be put to far better use by a Fury/Arms warrior or pally/shaman than a protection warrior who is the main tank, but that's just my opinion, and a feral druid could make excellent use of it, however, the proc would never go off, making the weapon a little less useful for them. And while I would want one for my pally for PvP that is about the only time I would actually use it, although my guild is still not doing even ZG.

I have had the materials for about 8 months now. Our guild (Destined, best guild ever!) has 6 ingots. I have been waiting on the damn eye to drop FOREVER.

It took me about 3 months to collect all of the mats. I had 5 people (including myself) transmuting the arcanite bars. That was the hardest part. The rest was easy to get it just costs $$$. All in all I prob spent a little over 3000g.

What do I have to show for all my hard work? Nothing! well, except my bank is like a gold mine =)

a lot of people want to say that other epic iweapons are so much better because of dps..., well other items might have higher dps, but look at the equip portion. it deals 5 fire damage anyone who strikes you with a melee attack! that is very important when a high dps melee rogue or warrior attacks you! secondly, its chance on hit can definitely deal a lot of damage over time when fighting high stamina high endurance fighters. add crusader to it and there is no doubt that this is the big mac daddy.

unfortunately, because someone else has posted a screen shot of this item i am not able to post my screen shot of a previous rank 14 orc with full epic pvp set armor and this weapon with +crusader enchant on it. i came across him in orgrimmar by the auction house on US Burning Blade - Horde server.

Personal Rankings for Damage (including Axe Crits/Sword Double hits/Hammer Stuns)

1) Bonereaver's Edge 206-310 DPS 75.9, adds 1% Crit + others
2) Sulfurias 180-302 DPS 80.3, adds 30 Fire Res.+ others
3) Arcanite Reaper 153-256 DPS 53.8, adds 62Attk +others

Here's the deal, While Sulfurias has nice Max Damage its still short of 310 on a War and the Cost is INSANE 50 Arcanite Barz and the Sulfurion Ingots! JEEZ
Actually Aranite Reaper is your best bang for the buck weapon UNLESS your in an UBER guild who has even beaten Ragnaros to get close to the drops or items needed for the top 2.
Arcanite should be a Wars weapon for most of lvl 60 until u can get one of the other 2.

But Sulfurias Does have the Max DPS at 80.3, just like Blade of Hanna,60DPS, did over Arcanite Reaper,56DPS w/62ATTK, but most people agreed that the AR was better to such a degree that people dont even mention the Blade of Hanna and its 60+DPS.

26 extra MINIMUM damage for Bonereaver..nuff said, Dont Rely on Procs in PvP, your asking for 1/25 chance that it works and doesnt get resisted somehow.
God I wish Sulfurias was like 250-350 with like 99DPS for the EXTREME cost /cry

Does anyone find it strange the paladin pictured at the top of this page has been through Molten Core enough times to gain 9 Sulfuron Ingots (8 if he got someone to make Sulfuron Hammer for him) and the Eye of Sulfuras from Ragnaros - yet is still covered from head to foot in lightforge armor? You'd have thought with ALL those trips through Molten Core he'd have picked up a few Lawbringer pieces by now? :)

Anyway, I have started the long, drawn out process of collecting for my Sulfuras (I am a level 60 paladin). Have all the arcanite and most of the trivial stuff. Have 2 Sulfuron Ingots so far (from about 10 golemagg kills, still haven't figured the true drop rate yet). Our guild killed Ragnaros twice now - no Eye of Sulfuras yet. Wonder which is harder to get - the Eye, or the 9 sulfuron ingots at the reputed 10% drop rate from Golemagg?

Can anyone who has killed Golemagg many many times give a better indication of the true drop-rate? By my calculations if you kill Golemagg and Ragnaros once per week - you'd get 4 Eye of Sulfuras for every 8 Sulfuron Ingots - at 10% drop rate on the ingots which doesn't seem right. I got 2 from 10 kills so maybe 20%/25% is somewhere nearer?

A horde guild on are server got Sulfuras a few weeks back (they were lucky enough to get the Eye of Sulfuras on their 2nd Ragnaros kill!:). I think they borrow a couple of ingots from another horde guild - but 7 ingots is still a lot to get since may April time when they started doing MC - so I reckon the drop-rate is higher than 10%

Anyone who would go through the trouble of making this would have to be completely stupid to give this to a pally. It should really go to a shammy/warrrior, ive seen a pally take 30 seconds to kill a mage who was oom! A warrior or shammy with WF would be great for this to one shot squishies and rogues. If i ever see another pally with this ill make one and pwn him with it!

outdps a tank is not that hard. cuz hopefully he is prot spec and using 1h and shield, a tank dont do much dmg, they take much dmg. most wipes is due to dps pulling aggro and the mob/boss faces/run the wrong way. hell even a pally can take aggro there if he has gear and speced for it. not that likly tho as the rogues/casters hopefully do mor dmg then the pally, or something is verry wrong lol! :D

Finally I got something my shaman deserved!
I HAVE THIS!

About 1mill(not really) raids on that boss, and when I finally got the items needed for making this, I changed to blacksmithing, bought materials for about 1000g, and mined all day long, got my skill up, after 1,5 weeks or so, I told the guild I needed 3 more bars to make the Sulfuron hammer and they told me I should give it to the guild-warrior >_< I quitted the guild and bought what I needed(I was pretty poor by then), and now my shaman is a living GOD.
Sorry warriors, I just think I deserved it more, since I had gathered all the materials, except those 3 bars, which would be all the warrior
would 've gathered if he got it.

Note: My first strike was a windfury proc.

Its for DPS, no use in the hands of oh say... A druid lolz...

Pallies do good damage, even tho everyone $%^&*es at them for bubbling and what not. Thats like making fun of a shaman for FROST SHOCK! :P Besides, how else are we gonna heal? We don't yet have insta-heals, and the ones we do have take forever to cast, and they don't crit high witout gimp ass healing gear.

Point being, as long as you support your group FIRST as a pally, and think about some extra DPS later, your not a noob, even if you use a high DPS , low healing weapon. Hell most pallies in AB I see wont even heal themselves, let alone put BoF on a warrior, or BoP on a healer to make them last just that much longer.

Sword and board spec is for tanks, use a 2h with a balance of crit and int. gear and you'll do just as good at healing, if not better.

Pally rant over! I'd hella use this if I had the cash for mats for rep, and mats for the hammer. But I'd take full judgement and herald of woe after the patch as my dream gear. STR buff 4tw!

Only one ever made on my home server of Nathrezim that I know of, and its in the hands of a warrior who is a noob at PvP from what I hear.

When my shammy have it I'll enchant Fiery weapon on it cast Flametongue on it enchant my gloves +Fire Damage and have couble or other items that increase or chance to cast fire damage, at last throw some fire totems and cast Flame shock

Guild on shattered hand made the hammer a couple days ago, couple months before that when the eye dropped, they didn't even think about giving a paladin priority on it, but that's their opinion on who has priority.

I got the hand of rag a couple of days ago and i have to say it pwns. Doing roughly 1600-1800dmg with windfury, have to get more chance to crit gear with strength. It procs a fair amount, i just wished windfury proc'd more :P

this is now more a weapong u show off to friends instead fo dps, even though it has proc mine only procs once every 6 hits or there abouts. you can get a one handed sword/axe/mace/dagger with that kinda dps now. but no doubt about it some1 with one of these still stands out in a crowd with its unquie look.

In the original version (before all the patches) this was the highest dps and the only legendary weapon in WoW as Ragnaros was the final boss of WoW.

So with TBC out, it is for everybody (preferably those who can equip it though lol). Don't treat it as an important weapon but as an important historic relic.

I say that this is a good weapon for a feral duid also. They need the strength. In bear form they basically are warriors. I am not a feral druid though. I used to be. Now I am balance.

I have this, im a shaman.

my average windfury (20% chance on hit) is 2,000 damage. my highest windfury was 4,010 damage.

Not great for pvp...hardly...the speed doesnt matter with a shaman cause i have windfury, flurry, and berzerking, in every fight i can usually get the speed to +55%, making it near dagger speed.

For the people that are saying its not worth it, its a token weapon, you make them to say "hey look what my guild did" you cant ever gear up a raid with it. only 3 eyes have ever dropped on my server. Two of the best guilds in the game (Nightmares Asylum & Immortality) haven't even seen the eye drop, and theyve killed rag well over 40 times.

I got the Eye of Sulfuras on Sunday on European Runetotem Server. This was about our 6th Ragnaros kill so it was a pretty lucky drop. AFAIK we are the first alliance guild on our server to get the eye - a horde guild already has Sulfuras.

Still only got 3/9 required ingots (from approx 15 or 16 golemagg kills) so it's slow going! :)

Still some confusion surrounding the creation of the Sulfuron Hammer (before it's fused with the eye). Does it require exalted blacksmith (any type) with Thorium Brotherhood, or is revered ok? ie. Can a revered armorsmith trek down and turn in an ingot in exchange for the plans to make the first hammer? Thanks. :)

My 2 cents is that this would be good for a shaman, with windfury. Windfury makes up for the slow attack speed, but im not saying only shaman can use it, if you get it your a lucky *!@#$.

The mace can't be vendored by the way. It has no sell price and it can't be DE'd either. Not sure if this has always been the case as it does say it has a vendor price in the above stats, but since Ive had it it hasn't been sellable.

To get it you need to make the Sulfuran hammer (recipe of which is bought off the TB for 1 Sulfuran ingot). This hammer takes a shed load of stuff including 8 10% drop Sulfuran ingots off Gole. You then click the eye you get off Ragnaros and they instantly combine and the hammer appears in your inventory (I had sulfuran equipped and it unequipped when sulfuras was created)

Warriors stick to Bonereaver or Spinal Reaper.

This weapon has an awsome dmg range witch will give me insane Seal of Command crits. Ofcourse it must be handeled by the right person with the right gear & the right build.

Looted the eye of sulfuras yesterday. Getting the arcanite bars atm but it's a real pain.

Ok i get that you need both the Sulfuron Hammer, which takes a crap load of stuff to make, and the Eye, which doesnt drop easy from Rag, but once you have both, what is the process of combining them to get the legendary? Do you give them both to an NPC, or what? I'm curious here.

First of all, even though this is BoP, you dont need any profession to create it, so if you have the legendary eye, and the hammer, just combine et voila.

2nd , Def a warrior weap :P, druid rarely melees and needs more int, so do shamen and pally's, even though pally's might wear it :P

Finally got the eye to drop from rag and made my hammer. This is an absolute beauty. Combined with reckoning and a high Critchance (24.30 atm) paladins can really burn down enemies fast, with double crits on SoC n Physicals most of the time.

Here is a time line of my waiting, but it starts from the first ingot, i was waiting for it long before that =P

07/01/2006 --> First Sulfuron Ingot Drops
25/05/2006 --> 9th Sulfuron Ingot Drops and "Sulfuron Hammer" is crafted
15/07/2006 --> Guild's First Eye drops And Hammer Completed.

It dropped on my birthday aswell, how lucky can i be =)

So I finally got this weapon last week on Windrunner (yes i'm a paladin retribution spec please hold your flame post). Everytime I come to allakhazam I check any CONSTRUCTIVE post on this weapon, ie about the proc etc but find little information. So here is my conclusion on the Sulfuras after a week of testing:

- The proc rate is about 10-12% (but can peak to 25% its very unstable)and crits up to 500+ plus the additional 75 damage over 10 seconds.

- The fireball does have a RARE chance to proc TWICE IN ONE SWING! Yes I've seen it happen once when I've been monitoring my combat log. This doesn't mean it has a proc on the physical hit, and the SOC hit because I've had 2 fireballs hit a target without the SOC proc going off.

- Molten Core bosses (except Baron Gadden, Ragnaros) do fall victim to the Sulfuras fireball proc. Molten Giants / Destroyers too. Firelords are immune.

- The animation binding the Eye of Sulfuras to the Sulfuron Hammer sucks.

So to anyone interested in this weapon down the road I hope this bit of information helps. It takes a lot of hard work to get this weapon, and a bit of luck on the drop rates.

Ok I've been looking at this item's stats once in a while to show or tell other people... and I always end up reading what some pretty pathetic people have to say. So I thought I'd express my feelings and clarify some things.

I know I might be wrong since I dont always fully read patch notes but there's always "IF" when I'm not sure so feel free to correct me.

A little test for all you druids out there (IF this wasn't changed in the lastest patches) Take a 1-handed weapons, shapeshift, note your damage on a piece of paper. Then, take a staff (both weapons without +STR), shift, compare your damage with the numbers on your paper. Did it change? No, because your damage is not based on your weapons. You also don't proc while shifted... So pleaaaaase tell me WHYYYYYYYY is this a Druid weapon? Thank you.

Have you ever made a paladin? (directed to anyone saying this is "NOT AT ALL OMG" a paladin weapon)
Because, if you did, you'd realize that the only... ONLY source of damage of a paladin is with its weapon or triggered holy damage BASED on your weapon. (yes I know some people will tell me well you can Judge SoC and still make damage !1!11!11!1!) But again this fact is based on someone that's not retarded. So... to OWN a lot with a paladin you need an awesome weapon.... got that?

So to conclude, I'd say that this is a weapon for mostly paladins, EDIT: Enhancement Shammies and DPS Warriors, and if your guild has an general IQ of over 10, they wont let a druid lotto on the eye for Sulfuras.

I was looking through my model viewer the other day, and saw Sulfuras.

Okay. I go searching through it a again, and i supposedly found sulfuras, again.

I then noticed that it wasnt under the same name. I went through the models again, and noticed that there wer two sulfuras models, one shorterthan the other. I'm saying to myself, "wtf? possibly a 1h sulfuras?" If you need to see for yourself, compare the pics yourself. They are slightly different. One is shorter (i zoomed in so the shorther one actually appears bigger) than the other. Can anyone help me out on this subject?

On a guild sponsored PuG MC run (to raise money for the guild bank), the eye drops. Since we no longer runs MC, we only have 1 Ingot to start with. We managed to get another, and I have to buy the rest myself. At least 3kg later, I'm still haven't bought all of the material to build Sulfuron Hammer yet.

My server (Illidan) just got one of these about a week ago, lucky member of Team Ice got the eye and 6 hours later this thing was forged, I've seen it in person and even dueled the guy with it (600 per hit) I feel sorry for alliance :)

I crafted the Sulfuron Hammer for our Warrior Devron on Ravencrest (EU) today

Here is a movie of him combining the Hammer with the Eye of Sulf, and then beating the crap out of me in a dual afterwards (Yes yes, I let him win it ofcourse)

The actual weapon isnt that good, I've beat many paladins/warriors with it, and I have never once steped foot into MC on my warrior. All my gear is mostly from PvP and or PvP faction rewards. I've beaten a paladin on my server known as "Chrisa" whos on spirestone with all the good epic gear from MC she has full lawbringer, quick strike, onyixa tooth pendent, you get the idea the damnge crap. (Im horde btw) Then "Draz" who has Eshankerds collor and alot of other epic gear, not sure on the names atm. I usually win with 1-2.5k life left. It mainly depends on how much it procs =\

Now in all honesty, I feel niether War, Pal, Druid are good enough for it. I think it would set shamans the best. Why? Simply because Wind Fury. There would be no way for me to beat a shaman with this thing =\

this weapon all in all, is probobly not worth it...and now i will tell you why.

A. seems to me that it is more PvE based than PvP...which is a dissapointment....i think if its legendary it should be good for both, but its so damn slow!

B. Almost impossible to get when you could go to a 15 man instance and get a weapon that has almost just as good dps as this but not nearly the wasted time to get it!

C. Too many pally's have it, NOW THATS A PROBLEM RIGHT? (heh...right....)

My main is 60 shaman, and i have to say, warriors are usually cake to me. like i pwn them silly. but this thing is friggin insane! he crit me for like 2.9k or something and thats like 2/3 my life lol. my advice: see one of these things, run. run very fast.

Nice weapon.. Especially with the revised stats (223-372 Damage Speed 3.70) Although I am a Paladin, I have to agree, this could be best put to use by a Warrior. At the same time, this would make a Paladin able to hold thier own for DPS...
I would suggest that this item be looted only by whoever (of the two classes) could currently afford to have the hammer crafted... 160 dark iron ore, 50 arcanite bars, 25 essence of fire, 10 blood of the mountain, 10 fiery core, 10 lava core, 8 sulfuron ignots... On my server this comes to AH prices of about 4500-6500 gold, 8 sulfuron ignots (never seen 'em in the AH) and about 3-6 months to catch these items at reasonable prices...

Ask yourself... Is this really something I would *honestly* be able to afford? Is this really worth that much to me? If the answer is yes, ... by all means, roll on the eye.

(Honestly, if anyone other than a warrior or paladin rolls on the eye, their accounts should be subject to deletion, and they should be forced to play kiddie-strike for the next 20 years)

Just crafted it on Illidan, first there. Tauren Warrior named piccalo, team ice. Took us just under 5 hours to get 6 ingots and all the transmutes done for it. <3 horde on our server.

Well excuse me but since it is a "craftable" BoP item then why shouldn't everyone that can make it, weild it? Don't expect to use it if you dont have chisen blacksmithing? The only question could be not to roll on the eye of sulfuras if you wouldn't be able to actually make AND weild this weapon. It would be stupid to make it and sell it to vendors (I wonder what it gives when you disenchant it...ignore that :P).

Approximately 1 month after getting the Eye of Sulfuras, and with the help of a couple of other guilds with the ingots - Chaldkydri of the European Runetotem Server got Sulfuras late last Thursday night!

Thanks to the help from Slackers and Saint guilds, and especially to my guild. Although it is my weapon it felt like a real guild achievement creating it - the first alliance legendary weapon on our server.

We're hoping to get Thunderfury in the next few weeks too since we have both halves of the Windseekers bindings.

I love it. This is the ultimate paladin weapon in game. Nice & slow weapon & an awsome dmg range.
The fireball can proc on both normal & seal of command dmg on the same weapon swing. So with a little luck you can get 3k dmg in one hit witch is really nice in combo with a paladins survival posiblity's.

So... warriors get Askhandi & keep your hands of keke? :)

HoR > Askhandi for paladins. For all you DPS hookers... it's not about DPS. It's still about max weapon dmg, even after the speed normalisation. Seal of Command is on a proc/min rate so weather you have a 3.00 or a 3.80speed weapon it procs the same amount of times/minute. When it procs you want it to do much dmg so you need high top-end dmg... ;)

I completed this last friday as a (fury) warrior. (Eye dropped 13-11).
White damage hits with it are real nice. I've seen several 1400+ white hits so far.

I know that MS will probably hit harder but beeing in a PVE guild I rather constantly swing it with 30% faster attack speed then have some huge crits, get aggro and die :P

1.) This is the best 2 hand weapon in the game plain and simple

2.) Droan you should be shot for saying that, even sarcastically =P

Anyway, the reason number 1 is true is becuase of the absolutely massive DPS on this. Although it is faster than the reaper it still has a massively higher base damage (180-302 compared with 153-256) which means in insta attacks (which go off of base) this will absolutely own. Basically this weapon hits faster than the reaper (almost 3/4 of the speed) and it will hit for more each hit. There is no reason why, given the choice, anyone in their right mind should choose the reaper.

After several long months of acquiring the mats for the Sulfuron Hammer. The same week the final ingot dropped, so did the eye!

Here is a pic of it on a warrior =)

It has a Crusader Enchant on it, and I wear Stronghold Guantlets when I PVP to make sure it stays in my hands =)

well, whatever.... this weapon isnt just a legandary 2h mace, its somehow a sign of ur whole guild, so whoever gets it, represent the hard work more than 40 peoples did.

Without any doubt this weapon will best in the hand of a war/pally/shaman, to give it to a druid is quite useless. After all, if u have a druid in ur raid, who did some huge amount of work, to get u to raggy, than ofcourse he may deserve it.

In the end it doesnt matter who get it, as long its a trusworthy member and someone who is worth to wear it. Even with the eye (3,15%) and the 8-9 ingots, u still need help from ur guild, to get the 20 cores. The rest u can farm on ur own....So after all, its the work of many peoples...

Gratz whoever got this baby, u did surely some big effort, otherwise u wouldnt wear it.

I got a 60 warrior myself and i'm in a MC raid and i'm now also lvling a druid and i must say this weapon is amazing and its not for warriors only like some people say if you can equip a 2h mace for example:

Those were the good old days when Sulf was still probley THE best 2h weapon for MS warriors. Now you go spend about 3 weeks of pvp and get you a HWL/GM 2her which is better, so sad that such easy items to get now, outclass legendarys. . .

It's ok, best suited for a pally IMO. MS will still do more damage with reaper, as will a normal attack. Of course this will do more damage in the long run, but mace spec on a warrior sucks.

Who can use this? Warrior, Paladin, Shaman, Druid -- cuz' we're the only one's strong enough to lift it ;o)

BTW, proc's now work in feral form.

I'd say none of these classes would prefer this weapon for nothing more than the pure raw white dps number, flare effect and possibly fire resistance. Not that it isn't awesome for any of the above -- just absurdly difficult to obtain the mats; not to mention a bit of luck.

Paladin/Shaman would rock with this - but would generally be touting a 1h/Shield in PVE for pure stats reasons -- but would love this for PVP action. As a Druid - personally I'd want the Lava Dredger - but of course wouldn't mind this either. Warriors I hear nothing but complaints on how "mace spec is seriously lacking" -- but also hear that this would make it worth it. Pretty sad that it would take a legendary for that, imo.

Oh, and does anyone else find it interesting that the pally in the picture above is wearing full Lightforge save for the Judgement Crown and Leggings? Is the picture pre-BWL (given the placeholder graphics)?

As retribution build id preffer rather THunder than Sulfuras cos i use SoCru + agi + crit instead of SoComm + great dmg per hit. So the faster the weapon the greater dmg i do.
ps. I understand that raid needs warrs first equip Thunder and palies r the second or third - after even sword rogues

I got this mace on Dunemaul(EU), the Eye of Sulfuras is the easy part.
Took me two months from looting Eye of Sulfuras to aquiring the mace.
I dont understand why there are still questions of how to get this weapon, there are maybe 10 of these maces on my server and we arent as advanced as many others, plenty of people to ask any questions about the mace =).

The mats really arnt all that hard to get, it will prolly take about 2 weeks of grinding MC for the Cors, Blood of the Mountians, Sulfuon Ingots, and of course the Eye of Sulfuras. I have friends makeing the Arcanate Bars for me (there very nice) and im trying to get to 60 ASAP, right now i am level 34, but I am grinding SM and PvP for solid XP for many lvls. Trust me, once you think about it, its not hard, but its a DAMN good reward for doing it though... I mean C'Mon have you seen Unbreakable's Movie? (Link in a sec) He pwns all.

The Hand of Rag is outdated now, as the HWL weapons are better and FAR easier to get. Still nice to see the Big ol' orange hammer from time to time, though.

It is, in fact, a shame that ez epics over shadow legendary items such as this. :(

My HoR has been in the bank since lvl 63. It will remain with me forever as a symbol of the hard work that went into it, but it's definately no longer legendary.
Wish Blizz would come up with some upgrade quest that would make it so again.

These posts saying this weapon is "trash" or "bad" for dps warriors make me laugh so hard.

I have this beauty and the 削骨之刃 and the hammer is a damn nuke compared to everything I had used before.

I bet most of these comments were made by people that don't even put their hands on a damn Thunderstrike.

This data may be irrelevant, but for historical purposes I think it's best made public. I discovered it from a theorycrafting server.

Recorded hits: 11136
Procs: 490
Proc chance: 4.4%
PPM: 0.7
Other: Proc chance is likely higher in-game because data was collected before anyone knew about the GCD blocking. GCD blocking was fixed later in Classic (2021).
Anecdotal remarks: Can proc from effects like Judgement (10 yd range), and 火球术 claims a 35 yard range, meaning the proc can be triggered from beyond melee range
