these are GREAT leggings for this level. i've seen some warriors even wear it until the upper 40's. best leggings at this level imo. i think theres on boe item with like 1-2 more str though.

I recommend this for Shamans, Paladins and Warriors since Plate Gear is quite rare when you just ding 40. It will be used through several levels as you advance, and it's some of the best gear as you level in Tanaris until the point when you can upgrade to Golem Shard Leggings (if you're a warrior or defense obsessed Pally). If you're a Shammy then these will work for you unless you manage to see some green legs with a lucky stat modifier on them.

part of the best lvl 39 twink armor for a warrior, as these stats are huge for the lvl and the armor is excellent, even outdoing a decent bit of chest armor.

if u plan on twinking or just lvling these are a must.

Ok heres a couple things to not get this stolen...

1.Make sure if your the leader(which i wasnt) put on master looter so u can get the leggings.

2.If your not the group leader start convincing that you will get them something good after and take it and maybe get them something

3.Get high enough lvl so u can solo arms(or cath) and keep on killed herod(or Mograine) and get those leggings

Or...

4.Forget about them and get some more of the set like the boots or chest or bracers or boots(they are common ones)

I got these and the boots in one run through SM Cath. Rolled greed on the boots and need on these and outrolled the warrior. These are great. Btw its says that Herod drops these in the WoW site armory...that's a lie.. they drop from Mograine in Cath.

But they'll prolly get swiched with somthing else at lev 40+ or so.

any BOP leg fails b/c it cant be enchanted. For a twink, there's no bop item that will make up for 30 stam 10 agil lost.

lol on my warrior i kept trying to get these by paying high lvls to run me thru but it never dropped.(Before patch2.3) i went on my shaman the after patch2.3 and it kept dropping on my shaman so im kinda pissed tht it didnt drop for my warrior. They might have changed teh drop rate of this

I actually went there with a druid/warrior tank/warrior dps(me)/hunter/mage.

And saw the hunter rolling on this item, rest of the group even told me that it was his right to do so since he could wear mail at 40. I tell you now, this is NOT hunter wanted stats, this is however great for a warrior /pala/shaman :)

these are one of the best twink leggings in my opinion for a 39 warrior or prot/ret pally, seeing as they give:

100hp, and about 10 dmg difference.

that's my opinion anyway, you can think whatever you want about it.

I'm sorry tlanwarrior, but I must disagree with your statement, though there is a chance I may be wrong. I understand entirely that shaman mail was virtually non-existant pre-BC, but with the intoduction of the outlands, hunter mail was scarce, setting aside green stat-shuffling drops, most quests awarded shaman mail, a plate peice, and a cloth drop. One of these options would be bracers, invariably. And roughly 2/3 of the time, the mail reward would be spell crit oriented. Now I have no problem with this, when I play my shaman, but for my hunter, before I became a competant farmer and could actually afford the hunter mail of which the legends spoke, I had a very difficult and frusterating time.

Blizzard saw fit to balance this little issue by adding a gun to every quest that gave weapons after hellfire peninsula and a good quest-bow didn't show up again until shadowmoon valley. As a troll who likes his bow, this was a real issue for me.

Back on topic, I loved these pants, they saw me through to outland where I promptly dropped them for the first green with personality.

The drop rate on this item must be seriously lower than its stated because myself and a large number have tried to farm for these and the bloody things wont drop. we might just be unlucky but its got to the point of not even being funny that they wont drop.

me: 50 runs combined of both armory and cath = 0 drops
if the drop rate is 14% then i should have roughly 7 drops by now, not zero

my mate: 137 run of both armory and cath = 0 drops
im not even gunna bother working that one out, its clearly ridiculous.

im not sure if something has happened in the last month to the drop rate but everyone i talk to hasnt been able to get them to drop so im not sure.
any feedback on this?

pants drop off of both! though my run on this alt was quite poor i ran 24 times in cathedral for the 2hander and then i decided after 24 runs and never seeing pants i would go to the armory! and bam first run i got pants there! just luck of the draw

It's been very hard for me to just even try and get these leggings. I have everything else from SM while this item at 14% drop on both Herod and Morgraine. Without it I'm thinking wow.... when will this ever drop on day 3 of after i hit lvl 30 on my warrior (lvl 32 atm).

As of patch 3.1 these pants are now better than the Firemane leggings due to the loss of leg armor kits. Legguards of the vault are still better twink wise though, even without the armor kit.

Parts of this set make very good PVP gear for warriors. The leggings (20 str) are excellent knowing I will be spending lvls 38 and 39 entirely in BGs. I also recommend gauntlets of divinity with +32 attack power (equivelent 16 str), and raging berzerkers helm.

I have a 56 Shaman on Stormscale and used many peices of this set for quite some time so I understand how nice it is for a class that can use it for awhile. On the flip-side I have a 38 Warrior on Tichondrius and have the full set. Complain all you want but I think anyone who can use it and benefit from it (better than what they have already) should roll on it. Not all of us have money to burn in the AH on plate or better gear at 40...it takes time to acquire such items. Thus, even as a Warrior I will be using this set for awhile. The only thing that really pisses me off is someone who rolls need and doesn't actually use it...now that's a waste.

These leggings are horrible for a hunter...Go get some leather ones with agility on them until your 40, then go get some mail leggings with AGILITY and STAMINA...STR is wasted on Hunters! You are an idiot for rolling need unless the warrior/paladin already had them. That's the point...they will be able to use plate in ONE level...What if said warrior is planning to stay at 30-39 for a month for WSG? If a hunter rolled on these over my warrior...I'd rage and rage and rage till said hunter killed himself, which I hope you do.

I have a tauren Warrior and I'm just starting to run SM Armory runs, I also have a hunter I've leveled to 60. My advice:

Go for the leggings and the belt - the other parts of the set IMO aren't that great. Like someone said earlier if you get green iron chestpiece then its probably better but i like the scarlet one so I'm aiming for it as well.

As for Herod's shoulder and the Raging Berseker's Helm, these are must haves for any warrior and you'll be using them well into the 40s.

Hunters the only part of this you should be allowed to roll on is the boots and the raging berserkers helm, everything else is pointless. Boots are ok but tbh you will find better on the AH. The Helm gives you a crit chance which we otherwise have a hard time getting, I used it till i was 50 on my hunter when I swapped it out for an item with more stamina and some agility.

Who cares if a hunter past 40 is good in melee - other classes are better. To the absolute muppet who said that survivalist was all about melee its about maintaining distance between other classes so you can kill them with your Ranged weapon.

Hunters who think they need STR as an attribute need dragging out and hanging. Just because it's mail does not mean you have priority. Warriors, Paladins, and Shamans should all get preference on these over hunters. Why am I bothering even writing this when %^&*!@#s will roll need on them anyway...

Just because Warriors and Paladins are able to wear plate at 40 doesn't mean these pieces aren't good for them.
Oh noes! in three levels you'll be able to wear something with more armor!
That's the only difference between the armor types. Amount of armor.
If you have warriors or paladins in your group, under level 40, they have as much of a right to it as you do. I don't give a !@#$ who's going to use it longer.
Besides, the pieces with STR are nice for DPS warriors/paladins, regardless of level. If you're merely DPSing, you don't need Armor unless your tank sucks.

Point is, stop !@#$%ing if someone who can use it beats your roll.
It's one thing to say "What the !@#$ did that mage roll on them for?" and another to say "OMFG I CANT BELIEVE YOU %^&*!@#S WHO CAN WEAR PLATE IN 3 LEVELS GOT A PIECE THAT YOU CAN USE NOW. $%^& YOU!"
Remember people, we're not level 10 anymore. 3 levels isn't done in an hour.

just to let you know, i ditched all mail for plate at 40 blablabla, but man do i regret it!

past 40 i got into lots of groups as a dps (got 2 instant attacks now, s'all good) and there are 2 mail items i would have worn for dps instead of certain plate items until higher lvls

like say these leggings.

nowadays, i wouldnt replace these for DPS until the Elemental Rockridge plate legs from the princess in Maraudon.

and armor doesnt matter if your tank is doing his/her job (yes DPS warriors do exist, what happens if there's 2 warriors in a group? only need one tank in 5-mans)

and raging zerker helm should go to hunters/shamans, warriors get Ornate Mithril Helm at 44, far better for dps

I have a 60 hunter and I have to tell you there is no way I would have these on when I hit 40. There are two things that are important to a good hunter... Agility and Intelligence. This set would seriously weaken a good hunters crit chances and greatly lower his DPS. Hunters, dont worry so much about your armor rating; worry about the stats that matter.

i got a good way of not losing your item when a ninja needs for no reason right you ready ok
If there is someone left to roll need or greed when the ninja has already needed for no reason, tell the person not to roll that way you got more time to do stuff kick the ninja from the group wait 1 min for him to be teleported to hes heartstone's home then roll, this way he doesnt get the item and whoever in the group rolled need will get it sounds crap but ive done it before and it works, bye for now anyway:D

I am a lvl 34 Pally and I have half this set. I swear to all that is holy, If i ever get needed by a hunter or rogue for this set. I am getting on with my lvl 65 horde warrior and going hunting. I will camp your corpse all day.
This set is for Pallys and warriors. Hunters need to shut up. You dont hear my crying about that damn pet and Rogues you got that cheap shot.
PALLYS and Warriors are the tanks in most instances, you guys dont need this

ive ran arm/cath about 20 times so far on my war and i've never even seen these drop. then i went and ran cath ONE TIME on my mage and they drop... i want these legs so bad on the war cuz the only thing better for a while is golem shard leggings, but those are never up on the AH :(

you know what i think? I think this set would be great for Palis. All you need is Int. inchants and your set. Of course that will be easy for me because one of my characters does inchanting so its going to be really cheap for me and all of a 2 hour wait for the mail to get between characters.

yea the huy colored the suit black in ms paint. you can tell by the way the details arent in it. but anyways these pants arent that good. the pants u get low 30's from a gnomer quest are way better. i think they have 391 armor and i cant remeber the stat boost

Let me get his straight. The Scarlet Leggings are tremendously better then the Dual Reinforced Leggings in all stats. Scarlet Leggings item level 43 and other one 37. It just doesn't make sense, why would you think that?

IMO Hunters shouldn't even be rolling on ANY of this. Go for the berserkers helm, and MAYBE the bracers. Only good things. The boot maybe, but chances you won't see them drop. Gloves, hell no. Why get str and agility, when you can get something on the AH with agility or int. Chestplate and legs, warrior/pally. We dont need str. A bit of stam maybe, but seriously.This is coming from a 67 hunter who KNOWS HIS STUFF god damnit.

Ok, listen up... anybody who thinks this is crap for a shammie has at least a few problems in the head. Maybe not for a resto or ele. shammie, but for an enhance shammie, this is pure GOLD. Warriors and pallys are only gonna be using this set from 38-40, while shammies ( they do get a late start) are going to be using this from 40-some amount in the high 40s, maybe even 50's. This means its either 2 lvs or anywhere from 5-15. Big difference in usage there once you get down to the second grade math, huh?

Clearly for Hunters :D lol... nah i agree these are definitely more for Warriors and Paladins, my Draenei Warrior wore these until lvl 50ish i think... hardly any plate stuff compares until the Mara ones. For a Hunter these aren't "that" good... Strength doesn't matter for a Hunter and only 10 stamina, my BE Hunter had Leather legs at 40 that had as much stamina as these and Agility which DOES matter... as for them being Mail, well you're a Hunter and if you are regularly getting involved in Melee fighting and thus requiring more armor... well, learn to play your Hunter lol

Got these last night(39war)had a nice run thru SM cath. with 2priest 2war 1hunter all lv37-40 the other war38 already had this leg pc so i rolled against hunter and won. These are nice and go well with the shoulders, belt, helm, gloves I will prolly wear the carapace plate body at 40 instead of the scarlet. I am dual weild so no axe from Herod altho it looks pretty cool. swd of omen + vanquisher (^-^) both +2dmg enchant work nice with all dual weild talents, also got a shld from morgaine which is nice for tanking. GL have fun

I believe *could be wrong, so no flames please* that the hunter formula for attack power is this: (strength + agility) + (character lvl x2) - 20. This is a melee attack power formula posted on Wowwiki. I've had several different hunters test it and they agree that it's accurate. However, the RAP formula does not seem to be updated for BC. (Character lvl + agility) - 20 did not add up to what their ranged attack power was. Yes, we made sure to subtract any AP bonus they were getting from gear. But, if the formula mechanics are still the same, then strength plays no part in ranged attack power for hunters. Only melee.

Yes there are pieces of mail in SM that have fights over them that hutns shouldn't while they should but this is a case of where the hHunts do not need it. for a hunt this gives only 10 Stam. the str. is worthless so if you are lvl 40 and 10 stam. legs are the best yu can get just reroll. (get triprunners from gnomer, 17 agi. lvl 25 quest, 6 stam)

These leggings are one of a kind. I'm a level 45 Paladin and I'm still using them. If your a Warrior or a Paladin, I'd definately say go for it. At my level there aren't any leggings, even plate leggings with better stats than these. I'm probably going to be using these until my late 40's. Once you hit 49 though, I'd recommend going after the Elemental Rockridge Leggings, which drop off the Pricess boss in Maraudon. I looked them up on this website and was completely amazed by the stats. They have a lower drop rate than most of the other items the Princess drops, but they are definately worth pursuing. Anyways, the Scarlet Leggings are awsome.

i was farming SM arms for the tabard (60 druid at the time) and herod dropped legs, and the boots, i DEd the legs and sent the boots to my shammy... and like an hour later i find the chestpiece in cath...AND a shiny fiery war axe...that was like my lucky day :)

I have what is now a lvl 48 hunter and have owned many 48+ hunters while wearing this gear. Granted I know that there is a complete lack of agility on the scarlet gear. with the exception of the boots and gloves... but thats not enough to help. But the stamina bonus out of the scarlet set is killer and i had almost as much health as a warrior just a few lvls lower than me. I will have to say for pvp purposes health wins over a slight bonus to damage/ crit. I may be wrong but thats what I have seen. Also with the fact that i have 180 stam instead of the 45 that i have w/o gear I would have to say that the scarlet set has saved my life more times than I can count. When I hit 60 and am in my PVP epic armor I will always have this beautiful set in my bank for when i feel like running around SW lookin Hella sick.

ok peeps, incase none of u have ever played hunter 1 STRENGTH translates into 2 ATTAK POWER, (not melee only) so these are great legs for hunter. and imo a warrior would/should be getting plate legs 2 lvls after being able to use these, SOO these are more useful for a hunter 40+, i had them (off a greed roll >_<) and they were great for dps, hense the +20 str/40 AP eather way u look at it these are great legs for any mail wearing class.

BUT, any hunter shouldn't need roll on these unless the group is okay with it and the tank has them or better ones
