Highest droprate is off the Sentries. The other mobs drop the samples, however the droprate seems significantly lower.

Ogres are not so good, their drops about 1 in 4 but the shamans are almost every time.

I think it is fixed, the drop rate is higher than i imagined of the above comments. not sure but it was easy quest for me, the drop rate was high from all kinds of ogres in these coordinates 37,27.

this quest is easy, but make sure you can take more than one at a time, seeing there is maybe 20 to 25 there at a time, and other classes such as shammans and mages will have AOE fests often, ur gonna want to snag the kills, or group with the person.

This quest is about as ridiculously tedious as the one where you need to collect Centaur ears, and it turns out that only about 1/5 Centaur actually have a pair of ears on their head. Drop rate is ridiculous, had to kill well over 50 ogres to finish this. Someone mentioned that Ogre Sentry's have a better spawn rate, but didn't notice any difference from the other ogres.

I stayed in the area where Boss Grog'ak (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=18159) spawns and walks around and killed him every chance I got. A Mushroom Sample dropped everytime. He seemed to be on a 3-5 min spawn timer. Of course, kill other ogres while you wait for him to spawn :)

I found alot of glowcaps, which is a quest when you are neutral or friendly with spore's. You may want to pick up any of these. They are orange glowing mushrooms on the ground

Worst Drop rate EVER. While happily chatting to friends and brainlessly killing these ogres i got 6 mushrooms in about 20 minutes. Though as stated before, I've collected a nice amount of cloth ...

For my 63 Frost Mage... AWESOME aoe grind spot, just stay away from the Warlocks... 600ish xp a kill and you can easily round up 5-6+ ogres, and they go down in 3 blizzards. =) <3 Mages.

Terrible drop rate (i'd say about 1 in 9), no cloth to speak of. really a waste of time! I really wish Blizzard would try AI instead of random number generators or just be consistent.

Go for the shaman. I just killled 4 of them and received 4 mushrooms. Before that, I killed nearly 10 Ogres and received none.

Rogues can pickpocket the ogres for strong junkboxes. A droprate of 5%.

This way I got my lockpicking-skill upto 325 :)

I did this level 70 for some Cenarion Expedition rep.

Since they're only level 62-63, I ran in, aggroed 7-8 of them and used my fire elemental.
I didn't get a single Mushroom Sample from this. After I just killed them on my own and they dropped them at about a 50%.

I tried the fire elemental again 20 minutes later, and again they did not drop any samples.

I'm not sure if it's a glitch, the fire elemental or just the face that they don't drop if they're attacked by fire, but just to let you know, don't use your fire elemental on them to get samples.

If you don't feel like grinding the low drop rate try this:

Run around on your mount..epic is best so the chances u get dazed is small
Aggro 1 ogre ..
if it says "You no take mushroom!" kill it for a shroom
if it doesn't talk kite him till right before it evades and aggro another

Rinse and repeat.

If you chain aggro Ogres from kiting..its harder to tell which one is talking. So say you aggro #1, run to the next and aggro it..and run up to the 3rd..than at the 4th, ur log shows "You no take mushroom!"... good luck trying to determine which one said it

The drop rate sucks! I spent over an hour killing Ogres... I ended up gaining 2 bars of XP from killing these guys and I was at level 65. Thanks for another lame quest that reiterates how Bliz loves to make people grind. >.<

It's really a hit or miss drop rate. And it varies throughout the quest. For instance, I had to do the quest with the plans.

Well, before I went to get the plans, I got 8 mushrooms, and it varied anywhere from 2-5 kills between each mushroom.

However, the moment I came back, it took me about 6 or 7 kills before I got one, then I got 4 in a row. o_O Then after that, I was averaging a mushroom after every two kills. So it really varies throughout the quest.

The ogres do use Kick very often, so this quest is even harder for someone who is highly specced (like my Fire Mage.)

Horrific drop rate, no joke. Lots of people seemed to be having way more luck than I did. I got one mushroom every 6-10 kills. It was just miserable. I hope Blizzard kicks it up somehow, or maybe my luck just isn't paying.

I'm having the best luck finding the samples off the ogre's but definately an easy quest. They drop the two things I need, money and netherweave cloth (for 1st aid). I did this quest with the Glowcap mushrooms and Wanted Boss Grog'ak.

This really doesn't have anything helpful to do with this quest... I just wanted to say, I think Boss Grog'ak's armor is very funny... he has his big ogre b00bs and belly protected but like nothing else! Haha

Just did this with my 63 fire mage. I stayed near the Harborage and made a little circle, taking one out at a time. Near the root end of the big felled mushroom. Anyway, not so many glowcaps but I got my 15 in about 3 circles. Got tons of cloth, too. Easy quest with good grindage.

I curse Blizzard for the horrible drop rate every time I do this quest on an alt. Even combined with http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9835 you probably only have 3 or 4 of the required 15 drops by the time you've killed enough ogres to complete that.

Thankfully there aren't too many quests like this still left in the game, and with how fast levelling is these days you can always skip it if you don't care about Cenarion Expedition rep or any of the rewards from the final quest in the chain.

Indeed the drop rate is too damn low, but the boss is confirmed that he drops it every time you kill him. So always kill orges nearby where he would be respawn.. my suggestion.

As 65 Paladin, it didnt get me more than 10 minutes to gather all 15 fungi. Yet odd enough, after I got to 9/15, I get drop every time I kill all orges. I guess that is just my luck.

Good luck to rest of you when you have to do this quest. :P

I'd say the drop rate on this was about 39% for me. I killed mostly Ango'rosh.

Simply not worth doing with this drop rate, especially if someone else is grinding in this area also. 1/3 or 1/4 kills means 45 to 60 kills to finish the quest. While that doesn't sound like a lot, it's ridiculous compared to most other quests in the game. If you're trying to level up at a decent pace, this quest should be avoided.

So many of these kill and loot quests in Outland and Northrend with abysmal drop rates, they wouldn't be so bad if the drop rate was 100% or the amount of things you needed to loot was reduced, I've seen these quests 4 times on 4 different characters so its not as if they are hard just boring for a little to long (15 of these things, why not 7?)

Boss Grog'ak has less health than a standard ogre, a very fast respawn rate - around a minute, and still has 100% mushroom drop. Farm him and the ogres that spawn in his vicinity every few minutes and it's a reasonably fast quest.

very low drop rate for me , except the boss ogre drops 100% of the time and has about a ten second repop rate so u just stand there and wait for him to repop and kill him. great place to farm for netherweave.

If you don't like running around too much you can stay at Boss Grog'ak's approximate spawn point of 34,34 and kill him each time he spawns (about 1 minute) for a 100% drop and then just kill the other mobs around the area while you wait. Of course be nice and make way for people who may be on the quest

Boss Grog'ak drops a Mushroom Sample every kill (if you are on this quest). Respawns within a minute or two and is in reach of other ogres and Glowcaps while you wait for him to respawn. Hastens the gathering process by half.

If getting frustrated with drop rate then Boss Grog'ak is ur best best bet. He has a 100% drop rate and a short respawn timer(30-45sec).

The drop rate from Ango'rosh Ogre and Ango'rosh Shaman appears to have been significantly buffed, possibly since 5.0. I have always dreaded this quest due to the low drop rate, having to kill 40-50 ogres to complete it. The last two times I've done it, it's taken fewer than 20 kills. I would estimate that the drop rate from Shaman and Ogres is closer to 85% now.

• Accept the quest, Familiar Fungi, from Watcher Leesa'oh at coords 23.2, 66.2 (West of Spawning Glen).
• Travel northeast to the vicinity of coords 34, 31.

8.3 the mouse over the orgres does not show the quest objective, which is why I came here. If you hover your mouse there will be no yellow text indicating they have the mushrooms.
Glowcaps. There are lots of glowcaps in the region so be sure to pick them.

To the north is a place known as the Hewn Bog. Odd name for the place if you ask me, but I've never been there. I'll need samples of those mushrooms to confirm my hypothesis.

Just be careful, <class>. I'd heard that ogres have moved in to the area, so you'll have to get the samples from them. Could that be why the bog lords are no longer going there for their food?
