If you abandon Darkheart Thicket: Essence of Regrowth or Eye of Azshara: Essence of Balance you will not see the interactive objects needed to initiate them. Halls of Valor: Essence of Ferocity and Neltharion's Lair: Essence of Tenacity are still obtainable if abandoned.

I am opening a ticket and suggest you do too if you're affected. More tickets will probably result in a quicker hotfix for this issue hopefully!

It seems they've fixed the issue with abandoning the quest. After abandoning, the NPC giving the quest was visible, so I was able to just talk to them and get the quest back right away.

I didn't do any of the Essence quests from the Dreamway and I still completed the Order Hall Campaign and got the third artifact relic slot, skin and Archdruid title. I don't think these are required.

You have to join a group to Darkheart Thicket. Normal, heroic or mythic are all okay. Essence of Regrowth drops from Oakheart - it is the second boss of the instance, but dont leave as you got Essence of Regrowth, keep in mind that you also have to defeat Shade of Xavius - the last boss too, so you have to do a full run.

Collect 1 Essence of Regrowth from Oakheart in Darkheart Thicket, then defeat the Shade of Xavius.

Description

My child, I can think of only one place to capture the essence of regrowth.

Deep within Darkheart Thicket is Oakheart, a loyal ancient defender of the grove. He has recently fallen to the Nightmare's corruption, but deep within his heart, he still fights.

Gather the essence of this great tree, so that his everliving soul may be used to fuel new life.
