Note! You can do it in ANY spec.

There are 4 stones in Emerald Dreamway. Each summons npc. NPC give you 4 quests.

Communed with the Feral Stone:
Appears if you use stealth near feral stone (prowl ability in cat form)

Communed with the Guardian Stone:
Appears if you shift into bear form near guardian stone.

Communed with the Balance Stone
Appears if you cast Moonfire on the Ritual Candle near balance stone.

Communed with the Restoration Stone
Appears after healing the Sapling near restoration stone.

Does anyone know if you have to do the dungeons for each specialization as those specializations in order to complete the quests?
Edit: it does not matter your spec in the dungeon!

Worth noting; the "roar" looking stone is the feral stone, the paw print is the bear stone ;)

So many bears hanging around the wrong stone because it looks like a bear roar taunt thing.

Enter the Emerald Dreamway (e.g., cast Dreamwalk). Any spec works. Do these things right next to each stone:

Feral stone: 30.8, 37.6, cast Prowl. (Between Grizzly Hills and Feralas portals.)
Guardian stone: 34.0, 62.7, go Bear Form and wait a moment. (Between Duskwood and Moonglade portals.)
Resto stone: 41.3, 58.4, cast on Sapling. (Between Hinterlands and Duskwood portals.)
Balance stone: 30.4, 51.8, cast Moonfire on small Ritual Candle on ground. (Southeast of Feralas portal.)

Please not that for feral druids, Moonfire TALENT does not work, you will have to shift out of cat form and cast your weak version of the spell on the candle!

Communing with each stone spawns an NPC that gives a dungeon quest:

Eye of Azshara: Essence of Balance
Halls of Valor: Essence of Ferocity
Darkheart Thicket: Essence of Regrowth
Neltharion's Lair: Essence of Tenacity

Currently, once you complete The Protectors, if you abandon Eye of Azshara: Essence of Balance or Darkheart Thicket: Essence of Regrowth you cannot see the Sapling or Ritual Candle and therefore cannot reacquire those quests.

Once you get the quest "The Protectors", head out of the Dreamgrove using the portal to the Emerald Dreamway. Head to the first waypoint on your minimap.

Working counter-clockwise -
1st is the Cat Form. Go into Cat Form and use Prowl. The Echo of Ashamane will appear and give you a quest.

Next is the Moonkin form. When you're in Moonkin, there will be a basket on the ground - Use Moonfire on it and another spirit will appear and give you a quest.

Next is the Bear Form. All you need to do is go into Bear form and the spirit of Ursoc will appear and give you a quest.

The last is the Restoration. There will be a sapling in front of the tablet, use any heal on it to summon the spirit and give you a quest.

Are these necessary for something? My druid is my miner / herbalist, and I never run dungeons or raids on him.

Not getting any quest from the cat or bear ones. Swapped specs and used prowl and nothing same with bear

Took me a bit to get this so whoever is here hope this helps:
To commune with the stone do the following:
Feral Stone: change to cat form and use Prowl
Balance Stone: Change to Moonkin and use Sunfire on the candles (probably works with other skills)
Guardian stone: Change to bear form
Restoration Stone: Use a heal spell in front of the stone

So simple once it's all final, but it's easy to confuse which stone you're in front of. Basically, just try all 4 methods

1. Cast any Heal Spell on yourself or a Sapling
2. Cast Moonfire on a critter or a Candlestick
3. Enter Bear Form
4. Enter Cat Form and press Prowl.
5. Make sure you have room in your quest logs for 4 more quests.

Sticky this, will have done in under a minute.

It is advised to take all four quests at once, otherwise there might be issues with missing NPC's according to forums.

All the others were no trouble but I couldn't get the Moonfire spell on the candles to do anything. Tried in all forms. Then I moved around. At 4:00 o'clock, nothing but at the 9:00 o'clock position, Aviana showed up right away, so if at first it doesn't work, just move to another position.

All stones are outside of The Dreamgrove, in Emerald Dreamway. To communicate you have to do the following:

Feral stone - shapeshift into cat form and cast Prowl ability.
Restoration stone - cast ability on small sapling next to the stone.
Balance stone - cast Moonfire on small candle next to the stone.
Guardian stone - just shapeshift into Bear form, that's enough to recall the spirit.

You have to take the druid's forms and use some skill to complete this. Feral is Prowl, Restoration you heal the plant right in front of the stone, Guardian use Thrash and Balance use a Moonfire on the Ritual Candles.

If you're going back to work on this quest line after Legion, you don't have to actually complete all these quests. Just pick them all up following the other excellent instructions in the comments here and you can continue on the quest line.

Is there a way to queue for Legion dungeons once you get into BfA?
I boosted my lvl 85 druid but I still wanted to go back and complete the class quests in Legion.
But now the Legion dungeons don't appear in the group finder.
Do I need to do it the old fashioned way and *gasp* form a group outside the group finder?

For those who are being flummoxed. You may be too low level. At 40 I completed Bigger fish to Fry, then proceeded to fish , and fish and fish.
I tried logging. I tried the "autoloot". But then I Thought about level. Well after a couple hours questing. It took about 5 pools to drop.

Yes this is an old post but it is a danged nice pole and all of the level info is "old School".

Night Elves: If you've turned off experience or are too low level to have prowl, you can go into cat form and use shadowmeld. The quest giver will appear and offer the quest.

Not sure if invisibility pots work for other races.

Description

To fully unlock the powers of the Idol, we will need four manifestations of the wilds - an essence of ferocity, essence of regrowth, essence of balance, and essence of tenacity.

To find these essences, we must consult the protectors of the forest.

Go to the Emerald Dreamway and call upon the powers of the ancient druidic stones. The protectors will only show themselves to those who can prove their connection to the wilds.
