Archmage Khadgar yells: OW! What in the light was that?
Archmage Modera says: Khadgar, what's wrong? What happened?
Archmage Khadgar says: Something... bit my head I think.

For those who may be wondering, trying to save Legion materials and using Draenic Invisibility Potion does not work! I am presuming that other forms of stealth and invisibility are equally ineffective for stealing the Silver Hair of Khadgar.

Apparently Skaggldrynk is the only potion that works against that wily mage!

Don't bring more than 1 potion to kill Grimoira. In Blizzard's infinite wisdom, the f quest takes all of them...So you have to go back to AH and spend more money on potions.

If you're able to talk with her after accepting the quest without getting mauled (or if you're able to survive getting mauled as you talk to her), you can have this exchange with her for a hint:

Player: How in the light am I supposed to get a hair from an archmage?

Ms. Xiulan: "Judging by what you're asking for I assume you're an alchemist?

And if that's true, isn't there some sort of invisibility potion you can brew? Skaggldrynk I believe it's called.

He'll never see you coming."

You have to obtain four item for this quest:

Blood of Sargeras is a crafting reagent and can be found everywhere (world quests / harvesting / fishing / drop).
Kaldorei Ginger Wine and Moist Azsunian Feta both can be purchased from Fialla Sweetberry — Dalaran 52.6 35.6.
Silver Hair of Khadgar can be taken from...yeah Kadgar. Go to The Violet Citadel, drink up Skaggldrynk and take the hair (stealth / invisibility skills all dont work). You also will see funny dialogue

There are many alchemy profession quests in Legion, 32 total, check out under the spolier, if missed something. You also need to be at least 800 in Alchemy to learn the final quest reward — Recipe: Spirit Cauldron, all others can be crafted with any skill progress.

Strange that nobody mentioned it.
Khadgar's hair in this quest is really reference to Guardians of the Galaxy prison break scene, where Rocket asks from Starlord to get a prostetic leg from another prisoner. and than jokes about it

Can't get his hair, because when i use the Skaggldrynk everyone in the room just disappears! Is it bugged on 7.1.5? i just wasted 2 pots and 20min's :(

There’s an issue with this quest at the moment that makes Archmage Khadgar disappear when you use the Skaggldrynk potion. Our developers are already looking into this.

You can't get his hair if Khadgar is standing outside the entrance to Karazhan and you have quests with him.

this leads me to believe that these 2 are romantically involved on some degree, since in the novels it explains that khadgar is technically a teenager in an old mans body,it wouldn't be too far-fetched to think that he would seek out a lover,what girl more suited than "Archmage Modera"?

also on a sidenote this quest " Mud Mucking " the interaction of khadgar and him being secretive about a gift and some coins,adds more subtle notes that these two mages are probably dating.

My 52 warlock was unable to complete this quest because the 'Slaggldrynk' has been changed (description says: "Ineffective above level 50").

UPDATE: Thank you Pedantia, that worked perfectly.

just wanted to comment that at lvl 60 Slaggldrynk does work in 9.2.0

During TWW pre-patch, Archmage Khadgar will be missing from Violet Citadel until you complete Memories of Adventures Past. After completing that quest, he showed up where he's supposed to, and I was able to snatch his hair :)

This is broken since TWW release. Khadgar is *INSERT SPOILER HERE*.
Who knows if he might ever travel through time and space and appear in the Broken Isles Dalaran again... sigh

As of last weekly reset after the Prepatch Event of TWW, Khadgar is back in the violet citadel! I was able to complete the quest today.
