It's worth leaving rescuing these grummles until after you've done the other two quests in this cave, or at least cleared your way in by some way, since they follow you and "help" you fight, or in other words, aggro everything. Given this cave has a lot of sprites hiding in piles of snow, which tend to cluster together, and every grummle goes for a different snow pile (and none of them can solo the sprites they dig out), this can quickly become one big mess if you aren't a strong aoe class.

Two notes:

1) Keep your eyes peeled for the Stolen Sprite Treasure chest while you're there for 100+ gold and 500k XP

2) The barrels that are jumping around like they have someone hiding in them -- don't. Don't go near them and try clicking your incense and wonder why the quest isn't working. Keep looking for the barrels you can talk to.

if you have some guides and cancel the quest/repickup you can have more than 3 at a time.

Well if you're still in there looking for that big surprise barrel at the end of the cave, with a ton of gold n exp, like some have said here. Don't bother cause it no longer exists. It's now a quest that is called "They stole my luck" and those are the new replacements. Anyway, as a Rogue w/stealth movement ability, I had very little problems with the sprites. I just sapped the ones next to the barrels or the stolen stuff n split w/out a scratch to either of us..RIGHT :) Really tho the sprites do an AOE thing that's kinda bothering but, it's of no importance so just go over n smite the villainous runts. The little snow mounds all throughout the cave are sprites hiding so don't step on em or get too close or it's everyone's comin to the party, cuz these guys group up. Other than that, this is a pretty easy quest. Peace!

You can actually talk to the baskets and use the incence through dialogue, and if you do the text reads "I'm just a small grummle in a scary world."

Maybe it's just me but it reminded me of Journey's song "Don't Stop Believin'" ("Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world"). Might be a reference or not.
