This quest starts when you acquire your Lashtail Hatchling's egg from the Kurzen mobs. For this quest all you have to do is kill Crystal-Spine Basilisks. This quest goes GREAT with the quest where you have to get 7 Basilisk spines. You have to kill 10 Basilisks to complete this quest, as she (your lashtail hatchling) will bite 4 pieces of meat off of each basilisks.

I'm hoping this little girl either
A: becomes usable other than Northern Stranglethorn Vale
B: Grows up to become a mount :)
I'm quite attached to my hatching after only two quests.

On a fun note, you can have both the Hatchling and another vanity pet out while you are doing these quests. :D

1) Don't skin the Basilisks you kill.

2) Loot the dead Basilisks fast, because your chompy companion eats them up quickly.

I had my hatchling out while killing bloodscalp and my hatchling found a skull on one of the corpses, after which if offered this quest.

I looted and skinned the basilisks and the hatchling still got all 4 bites.

I had this quest for my hunter and had my both that and my regular pet out. I was jumped and killed by a horde and my raptor disappeared and so I abandoned the quest in order to try it again. When I accept this quest again, I don't have the raptor and she's not in my call pet bar even though I only have my one pet out... Any ideas how to make the raptor reappear either before or after accepting this quest?

If you log out for any reason, and you had the baby raptor, it goes away when you log back on...glitch maybe?

WARNING: Do not delete the egg fragment after this quest!
It looks like another obsolete quest item that gets left in your bag after the quest is finished, but it actually leads to a hidden quest line that is necessary for the N STV quest achievement.
If lost, it cannot be recovered. I can't even get GMs to get me a new one.
Loremaster is now impossible for me. Thanks, Blizzard.

It was tricky to be able to skin the corpses fast enough to get your leather before the hungry lil beast eats everything!

After you kill the basilisks you have to loot extremely quickly because she eats the corpses quite fast, the hungry little girl! (Looting the corpse does not affect her eating it.)

I Think She's Hungry

Kill Crystal Spine Basilisks in Northern Stranglethorn, and let your Lashtail Raptor eat 40 bites of their meat.

Description

It looks like your young raptor is hungry. If you're looking to keep her, why don't you find something for her to eat? The lashtail often attack the basilisks of Stranglethorn, which can be found to the east, beyond Kurzen's Compound.

She probably isn't strong enough to hunt on her own yet, but I'm sure she will eat freshly killed basilisk meat.
