- Beware on Diemetradon test, killing some of the NPC's (Krakle for example) will decrease your Steamwheedle reputation.

- Otherwise it is not a phased event so players have to wait Marshal's camp to be respawn to interact with them further.

- Vehicle frame is also bugged and does not show up at least for me, but you can guesstimate easily the order of the buttons of the invisible vehicle action bar.

You don't have to kill any NPCs on the Diemetradon test. Just bite five of them and it's done.

In addition to the gorillas for the quest, as a hunter I could also speak with my gorilla pet.

Note that while doing the gorilla section, you are considered hostile to members of your own faction. Yes, I was ganked... by a member of my own guild no less while doing it.

Believe it or not, there's a Chrono Trigger reference in this quest.

During the Gorilla Observation part, when you speak to an Un'Goro Thunderer he states "Thunder stuns all dinosaurs, you know."
In Chrono Trigger, a random caveman in 65,000,000 BC states the exact same quote (but with worse grammar), and sure enough thunder spells in that game stunned dinosaurs and removed their defenses.

in case anyone is wondering what the white rare gorilla would say, he says absolutely nothing, you can't even talk to him, although he is friendly to you while in that gorilla form.

Ok here is a trick I figured out if you are having issues with your vehicle bar
not showing up like I am make these macros.

For the Dimetradon Observation make two macros

For the Bite use this one: /click BonusActionButton2
For the Bony Armor use this one: /click BonusActionButton3

For the Pterrodax speed increase us this macro
/click BonusActionButton2

For the Blood petal Observation again use this macro
/click BonusActionButton2

now when you click the macros that you just made it is the same as
clicking on the vehicle bar. This works this is how i did this quest.

Hope this helps everyone out that is missing their vehicle bar
like I was on this quest.

As a warlock I had my pet available while I was in the different forms. During the gorilla test a horde hunter came into the cave to do some mining, as he started to slay my kin that he pulled on the way in I yelled "Gorillas Attack!" and clobbered him to death with my new friends while he tried to mine a thorium vein.

This is by far one of the best quests ive done since i could gank allies with the Diemetradon test with that form, all the afk un'goro allys were dead after 10 mins

I dont know if it was a bug of the game or what... but while i was trying to do "Pterrodax Observation" i killed a Bloodpetal and got credit for the Bloodpetal observation. Anyone else that happend that too...

Beware on Diemetradon test, killing some of the NPC's (Krakle for example) will decrease your Steamwheedle reputation.

As of 4.06 this no longer appears to be true. Most of the NPCs at Marshal's Stand now belong to a group called Marshal Expeditions. I ended up killing two goblin questgivers, Quixxil and Spraggle Frock, during the diemetradon observation and I am still capped at 999/1000 Exalted with all four Steamwheedle Cartel factions.

That aside, the quest is indeed not phased and killing NPCs at Marshal's Stand will make them unavailable for everybody else in Un'Goro Crater for a few minutes until they respawn.

A-ME's speech is noted above. The white rare spawn gorilla has no speech. U'cha, the red gorilla, does.
Please note my character is a night elf druid, so you'd get your own race/class combo.

Dimetradon was a nightmare. The first three times, I followed the quest and comments exactly. Nothing happened. (All the others worked fine.) The fourth time I tried biting each NPC a certain amount of times. Niente. I knew it was bugged because "Bony armor" had exactly zero effect at all and my Dimetradon got stomped pretty quickly.

The sixth time it worked and I have no idea why. At that point I was just being stubborn and seconds away from an aggrieved chat with a GM. Just a warning - be prepared for some annoyance and frustration.

For the Dimetradon test, Keep your armor on, go up to one NPC, bite it, go to the next one, bite it. etc. I was getting confused because I thought it would tell me "Dimetradon bite 1/5" or something like that like a quest does, but after you bite the 5th NPC It tells you that it is finished. Just thought i'd throw that out there.

I had a bug during Diemetradon test where the Bite and Bony Armor icons did not appear at the bottom. In order to bite, press "2" on your keyboard, just bite 5 of them and it will be completed. You have to be close to an NPC to bite. Press "3" to get armor.

This may help on the Diemetradon part of this.
For many people the action for "Bite" and "Bony Armor" didn't show up on your bar. If you press "2" on your keyboard it will use "Bite" and "3" for "Bony Armor".
Also, you don't have to defeat the target, just bite it.
Let me know if this helped!

P.S. Using "2" also works for Speedy Flight :)

During the "Gorilla" segment, all the Stompers disappeared... even when I came back as a person, no stompers... good thing I got the 2 stomper hides earlier I guess.

As someone already mentioned use 2 and 3 to get your bite and bone armour powers (mine didnt show up either).
Also for me you didnt need to bite different humanoids. I attacked a goblin with a name beginning with N... bite him waited for it to recharge and did it 5 times before he died. An easy way to complete it ..... hope this helps someone.

If you can't do the diemetrodon quest because your action bar is messed up, try disabling all your addons. My wife disabled her addons, logged in again, and the action bar worked just fine.

During the Gorilla Observation, if you enter Fungal Rock and speak to U'cha, he'll tell you the following joke:

I've both bitten and used body armor on the 5 humanoids and get returned to the watcher with the comment that I've failed to learn the spell. I have no clue on what to do next.

For whatever reason when trying the Dimetradon portion, I repeatedly had to keep hitting 1 to auto attack one of the goblins at the edge of the camp. I also kept hitting bite but it wouldn't give progress even though I bit him far more than 5 times. Once the Goblin was about halfway down in health, I then saw the quest completed and was returned to the terrace. Didn't have to bite 5 guys at all.

Not sure if the PvP flag is put up as of 5.2.0. I don't see any icon next to me and my PvP is always disabled.

As an undead in Diemetradon form you can accidentaly killing NPC-s in marshall refuge with Touch of the Grave . :/

I had the same issue. Did the gorilla, bloodpetal, pterodotax, but the Diemetradon, is a pain.
Both my buttons for bite and bony armory have 0 effect. I bite one goblin, then by the time I get to the second NPC the kick the $%^& out of me and I obviously die.
Unfortunately I had to log out before I got the chance to finish the quest, so how do I get back un on Shaper's Terrace?

I have tried to complete the pterrordon investigation 15-20 times I can not tell if my bite is having an effect, their health does not go down, and they manage to kill me and I do not complete.

While doing the Gorilla observation, you are hostile to normals.

The dimetrodon observation was an interesting one. You just have to use bite on five NPCs and currently (despite what other comments say) they don't seem to fight back effectively through your armor ability. You to not need to kill the NPCs... but you can. And, if you do, you'll find you weren't put in a phased version of Un'goro to do the quest either -- they are dead until their respawn timer comes up (which may be quite long as they are not normally killable). R.I.P Hol'anyee Marshal, bitten to death by mind-controlled (?) dimetrodon in the name of science.

So I did this quest at lvl 90 and when I got to the Diemetradon Observation part my bite was 1 shotting the town members. I still got credit but I felt bad for the 4 or 5 people that came into town just after and didn't have npcs to turn in their quests. =/

totally random observation, but if you do this quest as an enhance shammy and have active weapon imbues, they still go off in the different forms. I was windfury'ing the heck out of the quest givers in town, the lashers and other pterrodax's, i fought a slime too but it killed me (I actually died and had to reincarnate too!)

Also be wary if you are trying to bite npcs near the fp end of town, you will be 1 hitted and flagged for pvp. Only relevant for non pvp server people though

I struggled with Diemetradon test as well. Wandering into the middle of the camp gets you ganged-up; if you aggro one of the high-level NPCs, you die before you can bite 5 and complete the test.

But I found a glitch that may help. I was a hunter, so had a ranged weapon, and found it still works in D-form! I used it (“1”-button) to fire at a distance at a carefully selected lower-level NPC; this damages the NPC, and aggros them; they race over to you to fight you 1-to-1. When they move next to you, bite (“2”) once and then kill (mash “1”) the single NPC, wait to heal a bit, then repeat, one NPC at a time. When you’ve got 4 of the 5 taken care of, go ahead and aggro one of the level-60 NPCs, bite once, and you’ve completed the test before you die.

This quest is really not that bad - EXCEPT for the Diemetradon segment. After 10 attempts I just walked away from it and came back to it a couple days later. Mind you this was over the Christmas holiday so when I did come back to it I did that part and it worked the first time. Don't know why it worked, but I was glad to put this bugger down for the 10 count!

HUNTERS, if you are doing this quest at the appropriate level this will be very tough due to an awkward bug with the Diemetradon portion. My wife couldn't complete this quest because every NPC was an "invalid target" for the Bite ability. I took over for her and eventually discovered that unequipping her ranged weapon and equipping a sword fixed the issue.

Also the armor button seemed not to provide any armor so you gotta run quickly through the camp to get all five bites in before you get slaughtered.

Took me 5 tries to get the Diametrodon part completed. Didn't matter whether I bit 5 NPC or killed any one of them. Make sure you check if the quest mark is ! or ? on Watcher Nablya when you are ported back to the chamber.

Is there a follow-on to this quest?
Upon completion I happened to hit level 54, so I got the 'bread-crumb' to Silithus. However, if I had not made 54 what quests might I have missed if I did every one up to this point? There were no more available at Marshal's Stand. The one exception that I know there is the 'errant knight' quest series near Golakka Hot Springs, but that's it.

The Diemetradon Observation was simple enough: run into the middle of the camp and spam the bite and armor while turning in a circle. Then port back (it did not automatically port me back).

The Pterrordax Observation was not immediately clear to me: use the jump button to fly above the treetops, use the speed boost a couple of times, and you're done.

The Gorilla Observation is pretty simple if you talk to a gorilla outside the cave and then run in. I was not hostile to anyone on a Normal server, so I assume the hostile comments above were from PvP servers. Also, talk to the Big Gorilla for a little humor (it's listed in these comments if you already did that one and missed it).

Finally, if you run an addon that masks the default UI (ElvUI for me), you will need to disable it (as I have had to do with several scenarios in which the toon becomes someone else). I'm sure there is a workaround, but given how easy the scenario is, it's simpler to just disable all addons, complete, and then turn them on again.

The Pterodaxx Observation of this quest appears to be a bit broken. I found that using the dash button on the way up caused me to disconnect - not immediately but just before it was off CD again. After about a dozen aborted attempts, I finally completed it by using the space bar (jump button) to get high above the canopy. Once high enough, i used the dash button then the quest completed.

Beware if you're doing this quest at higher level that the diemetradon bite gets the same damage boost as your own abilities and will instantly kill just about any NPC in town, so try to avoid biting any NPC you still have a quest to turn into like I did!

The bloodpetal part appears to be really overtuned in TWW. Your poison ticks for barely anything, your entangling roots do not do damage, Lash does very little and your melee attacks are wet noodles.

You can finish that portion of the quest by staying at range and spamming entangling roots and the poison but it takes about 5 minutes. Go for the threshers, not the lashers, because the threshers only have a channeled melee attack while the lashers have entangling roots as well
