Is it just me or does this seem to be a nod at army of darkness? When you take the book and try and leave, undead spawn and attack you, kinda seems like the movie

I highly recommend not waiting around after you accept this quest. The hordes of undead took me down rather quickly, and painfully. Finish up killing the Necrolord first (The Noble's Crypt which you should have before you go down there), grab the book, and get out fast.

I think the quest has been nerfed at some point, I just headed up to the surface at normal speed and nothing appeared until I reached the exit. Even then it was just a single ghoul that got killed by one Frost Nova.
