I have found it hard to use any strategy type moves (heal, DOT, buff/debuff) with this guy. I can only beat this buy by having each pet use it's most powerful normal attack.

Quite simply you have to get lucky. Your hits cannot miss and his hits must miss once or twice.

Or you need to overpower him or be able to attack first with every pet.

If you are having issues with this trainer here are a few tips:

1. Reset the fight until he sends Jadefire out first (and best to have an Aquatic Tank like a crab waiting for him).

Why bother? Arcanus casts Amplify Magic (buffs damage), and Jadefire is a beatstick. If Jadefire comes after Arcanus he will be doing ~500-600 damage per hit before strong/weak modifiers. You want Arcanus to be the second pet because Amplify Magic is basically wasted on Netherbite since he spends the turns setting up his defenses.

2. If Netherbite's defenses are frustrating you - use environmental/periodic damage.

I suggest Clockwork Gnome with his Build Turret ability as it is guaranteed to do it's damage regardless of what ability Netherbite uses. Any long term DoTs are effective once on him though.

Try Rapana Whelk against Jadefire (or another snail if you've leveled one up). He's a critter so he takes less damage, but he has an aquatic ability Dive which deals extra damage. He can be captured at level 24 (becomes 22) and there are lots of him roaming around the Briny Muck in the Dread Wastes. Even so you'll need some luck - if Dive misses you have a problem - and if Arcanus comes up first you can forfeit and try again.

For Arcanus and Netherbite I used Tranquil Mechanical Yeti and Clockwork Gnome, as I normally do, but Jadefire was definitely the hard part of the fight for me.

I waited till Jadefire first - thanks for that tip - was really useful. Snail tip was really useful as well - thanks. Used silkbead snail, onyxian whelpling and pandaren monk. All lvl 25 and blue. Let each one go into the next round to deal some extra damage. Got through first go with all pets alive. Hope this helps.

Here are the coords for TomTom for Battle Pet Tamers: Outland (and the grandmaster for the followup). Just put them into a macro, copy each line individually, or use the addon Paste to paste them all in at the same time.

Rant here, but it makes no sense at all that this guys pets are level 24 in Outland, where the highest battle pets in the world are level 21. The strats discussed here make that point clearly, where people are going to Pandaria to pick up pets and then leveling them just to have a shot at this guy. He's essentially a roadblock in the logical progression one takes in building their collection and tackling tamers simply because his pets are 2-3 levels higher than they should be for this area.

After reading the tips here was hesitant in taking my pet team to down this Grand Master without all being level 25. But decided to give it a whirl with a Magical Crawdad @ 25 / Onyx Whelping @ 22 / Moonkin Hatchling @ 21.

First attempt was an obvious fail learning the fight.

Second attempt won, but the Moonkin died at the very end (tried to rush killing Netherbite when he had 180ish HP left). Magical Crawdad finished him off with over 500 HP remaining (used Whirlpool which was fine for damage, but if it misses there is no recovery and health goes down quickly). Onyx Whelping received a whopping 1694 XP (leveled to 23 in one pass!).

Third attempt (daily) all survived even the Moonkin @ 21. This was possible by switching out Whirlpool with Wish, making Magical Crawdad almost invincible (use it when health is between 800+ to top off or bring it back up over 1100 when health reaches around 400).

The strat is simple:

1. Magical Crawdad (Holy paladin tank) - Surge (main attack) / Renewing Mists / Wish.
2. Onyx Whelping (Fire Mage) - Breath (main attack) / Healing Flame / Deep Breath.
3. Moonkin Hatchling (Boomkin) - Punch (main attack) / Clobber / Moonfire.

With that setup it doesn't matter what the fight order was, as Magical Crawdad could "tank" any (be very slow with Jadefire , but he did kill Netherbite with his Surge and never got below 388 HP [and only that low when Netherbite hit for 484 while waiting on the Wish CD).

Very easy way to defeat him is to use a Mech pandaren whelp and bandicoon with counterstrike and poison fang these 2 pets counter his 3so you can have 1 slot free for leveler

After reading the comments, I was very worried that I would not be able to take this guy for the progression of tamers. I am working through leveling my first team, so none of my pets are level 25 yet. However, with some fingers crossed and some good ol' luck, I did it on the first try.

My team (all rare quality):
Maggot lvl 23 (tank & healed through Arcanus easily before dying to Jadefire on first hit)
Polly lvl 22 (just DPS'd Jadefire down with Thrash, then Cyclone before death when Netherbite came out)
Darkmoon Zeppelin lvl 23 (bomb'd and missile to the end, took less damage from Netherbite because it's mechanical)

Only one left standing at the end was the Zeppelin, but it leveled to 24!

Beat this first try with:

Spirit of Competition (22)
Pandaren Monk (22)
Curious Wolvar Pup (21)

Lead with Curious Wolvar Pup setting trap and just pounding away until Pup was low health, then used Spirit of Competition to kill 2; then switched between Pandaren Monk and Curious Wolvar Pup.

If you are having trouble with Netherbite use a Mechanical pet because he only has one attack (Nether Blast) and it is weak against mechanicals. Netherbite's other two moves are defensive.

I like using Clockwork Gnome because he also can use his Blitz ability which is strong against Dragonkins.

Update: I have found that you can take his team out with 2 specific pets (both level 25 rares) and any other pet you choose that is at least level 10 or so.

1 - Start with a leveling pet of your choice. Perform some action while engaged with Arcanus at least once so that you get experience.

2 - Swap to a level 25 rare Clockwork Gnome. His abilities should be set to Metal Fist, Blitz, and Build Turret. Spam Blitz until you kill Arcanus.

3 - Swap to a level 25 rare Shore Crab. Its abilities should be set to Surge, Renewing Mists, and Whirlpool. Fire off Whirlpool. then Renewing Mists, then spam Surge until Jadefire is gone. Here you have a choice you can go for one last Renewing Mists (which is what I like to do) or swap back to Clockwork Gnome.

4 - Once you swap back to Clockwork Gnome you then can use Blitz against Netherbite. If he uses either Phase Shift or Soul Ward you may counter with Build Turret.

Skywisp Moth- Call Lightning, Counterspell and then slicing wind until counterspell and call lightning come off of cool down.

Demolished both Arcanus and then Jadefire.

Arctic Fox Kit-made very quick work of netherbite.

If by chance your skywisp moth dies before Jadefire does, Arctic Fox Kit can easily just howl and then flurry him twice, and it should take him out. With amplify magic up or not.

If by chance netherbite takes out your fox with a crit, use Lil' Tarecgosa with some Wild Magic and then Arcane Blast him until he's down. Pretty simple fight. Most times Lil' Tare never even comes into play.

I'm writing this for anyone that's interested in using a leveling pet for one of the slots. I'd recommend leveling the pet by using a safari hat and completing the Eastern Kingdoms daily quest. This way the pet will not be one shot once you begin this fight.

Pet 1: Arcanus (Magic) – Dragonkin recommended
Pet 2: Jadefire (Elemental) – Aquatic recommended
Pet 3: Netherbite (Dragonkin) – Humanoid recommended

Arcanus
This is an option to open with the pet you're leveling, and switch him out after the first attack.

You could use a dragonkin to counter the magic pet that will be your first opponent. If you choose this route, check to make sure you have chosen dragonkin offensives. Use a DoT once Arcanus is almost dead, and switch him out to prepare for the next pet.

Jadefire
This pet is usually what people struggle with, because he hits like a truck. If you have a leveled aquatic pet, use him. Also, choose aquatic offensives.

Netherbite
This pet is nothing more than an annoyance, he constantly blocks attacks. But he also constantly wastes turns using his blocks. This could be used to your advantage, if you'd prefer switching in your leveling pet at this point. Use a humanoid pet, choose humanoid offenses.

My strategy
You could use the vague outline above if you prefer mixing and matching. If you're not that type, you can follow what I do for this pet battle.

Other team
Pet 1: Arcanus (Magic)
Pet 2: Jadefire (Elemental)
Pet 3: Netherbite (Dragonkin)

My team
Pet 1: Mr.Bigglesworth (Undead) -- Leveling pet
Pet 2: Clockwork Gnome (Mechanical) -- Level 25
Pet 3: Anubisath Idol (Humanoid) -- Level 25

Arcanus
I open with Mr.Bigglesworth. I use Ice Barrier
I switch out my leveling pet with Clockwork Gnome.
I use Build Turret, and use it every time it's off of CD.
Metal fist is used when Build Turret is up.

Jadefire
I switch out Clockwork Gnome with Anubisath Idol.
Put up Stoneskin, and keep it up.
Deflect attacks if needed.
Crush until Jadefire is done.

Netherbite
The Idol will probably be near death, I use him until he's dead so I can get in a crush or two.
Switch back to the Clockwork Gnome. Repair. Turret every time it's off of CD. The mechanical passive should be enough to finish off Netherbite before he finishes you.

Did this fight with clockwork gnome, mac frog and death talon whelpguard(all level 25) without any problems. and Arcanus came first everytime. overrated match imao :p

I used:

1. Uncommon level 24 P/P Emerald Proto-whelp: Breath, Emerald Presence, Emerald Dream.
2. Rare level 25 H/S Mojo (frog): Water Jet, Cleansing Rain.
3. Rare level 25 H/B Tranquil Mechanical Yeti: Metal Fist, Call Lightning, Ion Cannon.

Very easy: Emerald Proto-whelp killed 1st pet (magic), Mojo killed 2nd (elemental), and Yeti killed 3rd (Dragonkin).

If you are lucky enough to have Son of Animus and Rapana Whelk, you can do this fight with them. I had to have my level pet intervene on the last round due to some bad luck, though.

I used level pet first for the first round, then switched to Son of Animus. He takes reduced damage from all Arcanus' abilities, so I kept up Extra Plating and used Siphon Anima on cooldown, filling in with Metal Fist.

For Jadfire I switched to Rapana Whelk and nearly one shot him with Dive. Rapana Whelk was able to live for a while with Acid Goo and Absorb.

For Netherbite I still had Rapana out and put up Acid Goo and used Dive once. Once Rapana was down, I switched to Animus. The tricky part was not using Siphon Anima during Netherbite's two avoidance abilities, but I still got him down to 39 HP and just finished him off with my level 11 level pet.

I managed it with a level 23 Nexus Whelpling, 25 Frog, and 25 Anubisath Idol. It was a bit close with the Frog vs Jadefire (Frog died to the fire debuff as it killed Jadefire)

Yes, they were all rare (as I used the Pet Charms out of the menagerie to boost them). They're not min/maxed on species though so your B/B Frog can go the distance too :)

I've found that this fight can almost be soloed with the Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling.

I use Breath on Arcanus until it dies.
I use Decoy as the first move on Jadefire, then Thunderbolt, then Breath until he dies.
I then use Breath (and Thunderbolt if off CD) until my Dragonling dies.

I then use a high-teens carry pet to finish off Netherbite - or you can use a Humanoid to really obliterate him. :)

A fairly effective team for leveling is:

Mechanical Pandaren Dragon
Level pet (can be level 1 but there's a risk)
Clockwork Gnome

Start out with MPD and use Breath until Arcanus is dead (usually four turns).
In comes Jadefire.
Use Decoy, Thunderbolt and Breath. In most cases, the MPD will kill Jadefire, if not bring in Clockwork Gnome to finish off Jadefire.
In comes Netherbite.
Bring in leveling pet - Netherbite almost always casts Phase Shift or Soul Ward, which do no damage. There is a chance that Netherbite will cast Nether Blast, which can do up to 400 hp damage and kill any low level pets.
Switch out leveling pet and bring in CG.
Build Turret and Blitz until Netherbite is dead (not more than four turns).

Beat him fairly easily while leveling up another pet who was only 23 at the time.
I used Untamed Hatchling, Left Shark and Foulfeather. The order that he brings out his pets appears to now be static as follows:

Arcanus -> Jadefire -> Netherbite

I used Untamed Hatchling (2/2/2), Left Shark (2/2/1) and Foulfeather (2/2/1, level 23) with Untamed coming out first. Switched to Left Shark as soon as Arcanus died, but once I killed Jadefire, I kept Left Shark out for an extra round so that I could use Dazzling Dance (increase team's speed by 25% for 9 rounds). That extra speed helps a TON with getting through Netherbite's defensives.

As for Netherbite, once I had Dazzling Dance up, I switched to Foulfeather and just used Black Claw and Flock. He died very quickly afterwards.

11 to 13 round leveling strategy

1. Cinder Pup (L25 Rare) with Flame Breath, Crouch and Volcano
2. Carry pet: ANY level
3. Spectral Raven (L25 Rare; Breed: P/P) with Vicious Slice, Call Darkness and Consume Corpse

R1: Crouch
R2: Flame Breath
R3: Flame Breath
R4: Flame Breath; Arcanus may die this round.
R5: Volcano; Arcanus will die this round.
Versus Jadefire
Use Flame Breath until Cinder Pup dies.
then: Switch to carry pet
then: Switch to Spectral Raven
Use Vicious Slice if Jadefire is still alive.
Versus Netherbite
R1: Call Darkness
R2+ (conditional):
Use Vicious Slice as your primary ability AND when Soul Ward is active.
Use Consume Corpse (or pass at full health) when Phase Shift is active.

Important: Volcano will occasionally stun enemy pets and force a switch. Be mindful of these switches and execute the strategy for each enemy pet accordingly.
