Yeah, so, am I the only person who this quest made a little uncomfortable? Going around beating aborigines ("cavorting" ones no less) to within an inch of their life and then caging them for a guy to help them out "for their own good?"

For casters: You cannot be at max range for this quest. Once the pygmy gets to 30%, move in and melee it down to 20%, then click the cage. Don't be like me and kill half a dozen before you figure out why the cage won't work. ;)

This is a disturbing quest.

Why did we cage these pygmies? I am assuming Sullah wants to use them in his amusement park. Which makes me feel kinda like a slave trader.

I completed this with my Level 85 Warrior-Fury. Right after the first kill, I watched my attack closely, there after, by clicking on the cage before time for Pygmies health to go down. This enable the cage to pop out and catch them! But, with the turn-in of this quest, left me with 93 / 105 quests complete. Now I am looking for more quests in Uldum, any help will be helpful! Level up.

I did with my DK-Unholy level 85. I started off with my pet, but the first Pygmy died with my pet , there after I dismissed my pet. I would get the Pygmy down in health 10k , then start clicking the cage. I took a few hits but nothing life threatening, to about 8 k health, then the cage would come out and over the Pygmy, followed by "No-Combat" sign, then move to the next Pygmy and start over. try not to pick on Pygmies with scorpions around they mess up a capture of a Pygmy. But there are a lot of open targets on Pygmies. Level up!

I am a hunter. I do not do melee! This is the first quest I have seen that I actively hate. It is awlful. I have to get within melee distance in a small time frame. I have failed too many times. It is as though Blizzard designed a quest to make casters unhappy.

I will follow the Hunter advice posted here.

While you are at it grab Camelraderie and Master Trapper and knock out all three together. Since all of the mobs are rubbing hairy elbows together out there, easy completions. Use Wild Camel to "flesh" out the two camel quests. Higher hps than Diseased Vulture (much farther south), but the vultures are not as easily accessible in-flight by non-ranged DPS classes. Camels / Pygmies are also closer to Sullah's camp all along to the south. Good Hunting! =)

I get them low, one last cast or hit and it seems to always crit or that dot I put up ticks one last time, dead, I've killed every pygmy out there and sit at 3/5.

Yet another quest that's bugged!

Got Cavorting Pygmie down to the percentage it's supposed to be to in order to capture it, keep getting the "Invalid Target" message.

I did it at level 86. I kept one-shotting them so I ended up doing it naked without a weapon, and spamming the cage. I finished it eventually. (Pet on passive of course). Not sure it would have been possible at all at a higher level.

as an Ilvl703 mm hunter this was impossible with normal weapons. I used a Landshark and immediately started spamming the cage, even so, I killed a couple of the pygmies. easythrow dynamite would probably have been better, but none of my alts had any in the bank and my engineer had long since gotten rid of the ingredients to make any.

Working on Rep with Ramkahen, and this quest chain seems to be required to get the 2nd daily which gives rep in addition to running instances with a tabard.

I did this quest at 100 with the help of Naglering from brd. It Just takes patience. With damage scaling you will do 54 damage not the 2 damage as it says. so 131 hits will kill them. Try to gather up 2-3 at a time.

Completing this quest at level 100 is quite hard, as whatever you do (even going naked), you one-shoot the little fellas, while you need to bring them below 20% in order to capture them.

First of all, for this kind of Cataclysm quests requiring not to kill stuff, I usually use Crate of Kidnapped Puppies. It worked like a charm for quest Angered Spirits for instance.
But here, due to the pygmies' whirlwind ability, my puppies got killed quite fast (I managed to cage 2 of the little fellas before, though).

As Reddervish has proposed below, I tried the EZ-Thro Dynamite II. with scaling damage, at level 100 it does around 5-6k dmg on those. Thing is, they have like 7k HP and you need to bring them below 20% in order to capture them. So you will have to try a few shots, which must inflict the required 80% damage, without killing them directly. So you need some RNG luck. (I needed 7 dymanites for 3 captures, but I feel it might be more!).
Maybe does the EZ-Thro Dynamite work better, but I hadn't any by the hand.

Also, the dynamite has a casting time, so be sure to agro the pygmies without damaging them.

There are 2 quests in Uldum that are unduly hard at level 100, this and Angered Spirits

Angered spirits is quite easy - you just need to be naked and have Ressurrection Sickness, however because you need to get the health of these Pygmies lower then actually you need to be naked and have a couple of items of clothing on to up your damage a little without killing them, I had boots and gloves (ilvl 710) then just used one white damage attack. Hit escape to prevent a second punch going in and use the crate quickly - don't get distracted and let res sickness fall off though.

(That's for Prot Pally lvl 100)

the good news is that for legion and there's a new item that will allow you to mash (but not kill) mobs - so make sure you get hold of a Soft Foam Sword for 50g

This quest is still as annoying now in WoD as was in Cata. Unarmed mages do like 30 points per hit. So punching them is out of the question when they have 7500 health.

I got a much lower level item to see if that would help. Helps a little bit, but enough. So I disrobed, and smacked once or twice. Once it gets to about 25% or below it will tell you can be caged. I would turn around, you do NOT need to be facing them to cage them.

If you're wondering how to complete this quest at a high level, the solution is the Soft Foam Sword.

You don't need to kill yourself and get sickness or take off your equipment, just whack the guys once with the sword and then throw them in the cage. This works for the camel quest as well.

tried to do this after the shadowlands expansion,

needed to get naked, res sickness and place 1 piece of clothing/armour back on, in my case it was my helmet in order to get them down to the magical 20%

Description

Some see the little sand pygmy as nothing more than a pest, a vermin, or worse yet, a vile little demon.

I say they are simply misunderstood!

With the proper care and guidance, these little fellows may just turn out to be a glorious gift of nature.

I would like you to take these cages and use them to capture a few of them for me to work with.

You will need to give them a sound beating before boxing them up, but in the end it will be for their own good.
