You have to kill the Grimtotem adds that are channeling the shield to him before you can attack him otherwise you're doing 1 damage for each ability you do.

If he heals to full after you get him down, just run away. You've completed the quest.

Ok, this quest severely ticked me off. The mob healed to full a total of 5 times. I didn't run away as the quest didn't get completed till after the fifth time. This quest really needs to be looked at.

I don't know how the flipping heck you're supposed to do this quest as a level-appropriate rogue. Stealth doesn't work, the stupid serpent is impervious to stuns or interrupts, and that Feralas Sentinel does absolutely nothing to help.

I tried killing the serpent 3 times with my lvl 44 Night Elf Hunter. Even with my pets, it is an impossible task, my toon keeps getting killed every time! Not one Grimtotem shaman appeared to heal the serpent before I died! Even potions don't help! This quest needs some serious rework. I don't mind quests being challenging, what I do mind is them being impossible!

Take out the mobs as soon as they appear. For me it was still touch & go. If you get killed there might be a quicker way back from the cemetery but if like me you can't find one, you can start climbing those flipping bridges again in the water from 33.15 35.50.

April of 2014, there are parts of this quest that are still bugged. As a non-twinked, non-enchanted Assassination Rogue, and after 4 tries, I finally beat the quest. For me the key is to NOT really engage the wyrm - only as I needed to. I'd run in , hit Mutilate twice, then hit Recuperate to get a health buff running. The rest of the time the "buddy" just stands around bouncing. I'd Throw my puny knives for a wee bit of damage while waiting for the adds to show. Whack the first, second and third adds ASAP, then in for Mutilate x 2, Recuperate. Here's the changeup: after the THIRD add, the "buddy" starts to wreak havoc on the wrym and a fourth add shows up. Ignore the wyrm and go for the add and watch the "buddy" finish off Arikara ( with a little help from my Throws. Ended up with full health, and a finally finished quest.

So, I suspect that the key is indeed dealing with the adds , staying alive until the third one is dead, then let the Feralas Sentinel do the dirty work. Hope this helps.

To get the sentinel to help in the fight, you have to stay within the circle until Arikara spawns.

Description

I am familiar with these artifacts. I believe that they were brought here by Magatha Grimtotem herself. But she's not amongst the Grimtotem on Darkcloud Pinnacle. She disappeared right after she arrived, and no one knows where she is now.

Maybe we can find out.

Take the rattle, the writ, and the drum out to Arikara's Needle. If my guess is correct, the wind serpent will appear again. You'll have to defeat it to gain knowledge of where Magatha is hiding.
