Anyone noticed the Rambo reference? They also made this much easier so if you have friends in your party you do this with you will overrun them, no questions asked. If you wish to check out the orc slaying (Rambo part) and how the boss fights go in the beta, be my guest.

This quest disappeared for me.
I did up until that (The Dark Tower and The Grand Magus Doane), went to the meet spot, saw the siege tank pull up, had to brb, and when I came back it was gone, and there was nothing there.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to get it to come back. I have no exclamation points or anything.
ETA: and of course after 15 minutes of wondering where Colonel Troteman went, he is back and I have the quest. Note to self, next time, get the quest first, and let the kid wait on the school bus a few extra minutes.

Yeah, looks like this one is a "John Rambo" (aka Rambo IV) reference to a particular scene (the last action scene actually) from that movie when Stalone gets on a mounted .50 cal machine gun and literally tears the gooks apart. EPIC QUESTLINE!

Kills made by the NPCs count towards the player's kill statistics. Standing here a few minutes and I already doubled my total kill count, and the siege engine is at 95% health. :P

i managed to fat-finger the exit vehicle button (it's a mouse button hotkey when the bar changes) and i appear to be unable to get a new siege tank, as well as am i unable to find colonel trotemen to restart the quest.

edit: leaving the shalewind canyon area and returning made the tank, as well as colonel troteman reappear

Seems bugged on 22-May-2011. You enter the tank, you can cast the "Ram" spell and get sound effects and visual. But no enemy is damaged or even notices you. And you can't dismount. Only way out was abandon quest, log out and log back in. Boo hiss...really wanted to finish this series.

It's bugged for me, too - I don't have *any* blackrock orcs, but the gnolls and murlocs in the area count towards the 200. What the...? :( I really loved this questline...

Does not seem bugged anymore. FYI after my run for Stormwind to joy ride in it, I can confirm you are dismounted, and the vehicle disappears when you try to exit the Redridge zone to enter Elwynn Forest.

Came to Redridge with my DK just to get this quest with AC/DCs 'Fire Your Guns' playing REALLY loud ^^

I'd also like to point out that you only need to drive into the middle of the orcs and sit there and the team slaughters the orcs for you. But where's the fun in that compared to mushing them under a tank?

Some references from Rambo movies to this chain - phrases sreaming by John are from "First blood" movie in this context:

1.Trautman: Look John, we can't have you running around out there killing friendly civilians.
Rambo: There are no friendly civilians!

2. Trautman: Company leader to identify Baker Team - Rambo, Messner, Ortega, Coletta, Jurgensen, Berry, Krakauer confirm! This is Colonel Trautman.
Rambo: They're all gone Sir.
Trautman: Not Berry, he made it.
Rambo: Berry's gone too Sir. Got himself killed in 'Nam, didn't even know it. Cancer ate him down to the bone.
Trautman: I'm sorry, I didn't know.
Rambo: I'm the last one Sir.
(so as you can see whole WoW Bravo team is from Rambo movie, and so as colonel Troteman)

For some reason doing this quest didn't work out as it should.

I was killing gnolls instead of orcs on the tank. Suppose it didn't phase me in, you can still do the quest tho. Not as epic sadly.

There's now a glitch where instead of the orcs, you still have gnolls. they count as invaders, but since there are less of them than the orcs, it's takes longer to complete.

I can confirm this. After killing 130 Gnolls, I hopped off the tank and got on again, and now the invasion happened properly and I AAAAHHHH!ed happily away.

Just wanted to make note of a couple of things. First of all, I was able to get in the tank just fine, and got all my kills just fine (this is about the 4th time I've done this questline, by the way). I killed a lot of Murlocs, and a few Orcs. I don't remember the Murlocs being "invaders" when I did it before, but I see in the comments above, there do seem to be glitches in this quest, still.

Secondly, I use Carbonite. In case anyone else does, and in case anyone got mixed signals at the end, after dismounting the tank, and after everyone but the flight master disappear up there in the canyon (which is where I went back to), you may be lost!

My quest log said the quest was completed, Carbonite told me to fly to Camp Everstill. Of course, there was nobody there, and though Troteman actually is IN the City Hall at Lakeridge, of course, he knows nothing about what happened, and you can't turn in the quest there.

Finally, I noticed that the question mark on the map was completely away from all three of those places, so I went back to Camp Everstill, then got on my mount and rode to:

60.7, 36.6

I suppose I was supposed to simply ride the tank all the way over there, instead of going in circles near the canyon. It's been a while since I did it before, and I've forgotten if I had this difficulty before.

At any rate...that's where the quest ends up, where Troteman and the whole team are, and where the next part of the line begins.

Hope this solves an issue for anyone else who has had this puzzling result after completing this quest.

For anyone who is still having trouble getting this quest to phase (as of patch 5.1):

I had been having trouble getting this to phase for quite a while. I tried disabling all addons, relogging, dropping the quest and picking it up again, restarting the game... nothing worked.

I resigned myself to my fate and watched the orc kill count slowly tick up on gnolls. Suddenly, I saw a an enticing tin vein and opted to leave the vehicle to mine. The tank despawned, but my tin ore was well worth the run back to camp. I found the vehicle and beloved comrades exactly where they had been when I accepted the quest, and I re-entered the vehicle, preparing myself for more boringness; perhaps to go AFK while the gnolls respawned over and over and Keeshan dutifully took them out.

Imagine my surprise when the quest properly phased! There were orcs, hundreds of orcs, even orcs on dragons, and Keeshan unleashed shell after shell into the oncoming hordes, slaying each one of them and attaining the necessary 200 orc kills within seconds. Woo-hoo!

Moral of the story: if all else has failed, try leaving the tank, then running back to camp and entering the vehicle again without dropping the quest.

I hope this helps someone else!

Since I have not seen this commented, I wanted to mention:

My quest ended at Keeshan's Post, and the "?" for Troteman was misleading. Standing directly on the "?" showed nobody nearby, just a bunch of dead orcs on pikes. Eventually, I wanderded into the area with the orcs and discovered that I had not actually been "in" Keeshan's Post -- walked up the hill and found Troteman and the gang to complete the quest and get the next one.

L23 Human Hunter, not very adept at seeing things on the screen, so maybe this is just me ... but I am guessing that Troteman moves around somewhat randomly during quests. Commandos gotta keep mobile, y' know?

I can't find out how to turn this in. The location of the question mark on my map is a tree, and no one is there. I abandoned the quest and tried again, but I'm having the same problem.

When I wanted to turn the quest in, although the map showed a question mark, there was no turn-in NPC. I logged out and back in, and then I was able to turn it in normally.

Cannot finish this quest, the ? is at Keeshan's post and nobody is there or up the hill towards Stonewatch. I've left the tank at both places, even drove out of redridge! As soon as I got into Elwynn Forest the tank disappears. Keeshan and the guys are still back at Shalewind canyon when I go back there. I've started the quest three times, any suggestions?

John J. Keeshan disappeared after a while along with his gun. Then I was unable to progress. Was he killed? Went back and got a new tank and it was all better.

If you are here like I was, for the bow transmog, go to Lakeshore Town Hall and take the quests from Magistrate Solomon. You'll see Troteman standing near him but he won't give you any quests till you complete a couple for Solomon.

The tank has a ram ability that supposedly deals damage, but at least since scaling was introduced John Keeshan kills everything before it can get into melee range.

If you get to Shalewind Canyon (the place that the "!" is for picking up this quest) and it glitches out to where the guy doesn't have the "!" above him, just leave to where you load back into just Redridge, then go back in Shalewind Canyon and it will reset the guy. I had to do this.

2/23--Had an issue with this, the turn in shows near the tree but it's a bit east and up the hill behind barricades. The map "?" is too far west. Hope it helps

As of 11.0 this is a bit busted. Orcs will easily destroy the siege tank in a few hits.

Your best bet is to hang back, right at the point where orcs will start to rush at you, and keep backing away from them to give your dude enough time to machine gun them on cooldown.

Description

I'm here to help you and Bravo Company end this mess. You're to get in the Bravo Company siege tank and clear a path to Keeshan's Post on the other side of the valley, north of here.

This is a high alert situation soldier as the Blackrock orcs are now aware of your location and sending a large force to meet you head on. Terminate them all with extreme prejudice.
