When i finished this there was no follow up, but when i went to render's camp this npc poped out and starting following you with another quest Jorgensen

Simply dismounting when you hand-in the quest will also spawn the NPC.

You need to preform tasks at this place without waking up the dogs, and keeping the broomstick busy. Waking up the dogs ends up just as waking up the dogs in the quest ends up - Big mess and you die ;)

In order to complete the quest you have to obtain Messner's Cage key, which can be found at the lo right in the middle of the field were all those Blackrock Battle Worgs are sleeping (they have 1068hp).

If you cannot find him back, like most of us (and even after dismounting), also a relog might work :)

After completing this quest, Messner was still following me but there were no other quests available in the zone. Dismounting did not help. I was able to get Jorgensen to spawn by speaking to a flight master.

At this point, he offered the quest Krakauer.

I found the key at 49,38 on the South East side of the stump.

As of today..This is how I got the Key...I stood on the far East side of the wolf Den on my horse and waiting for the "Blackrock Worgen Captian" to walk to the far end of the wolf den and charged straight in to the stump. I dismounted and grabbed the Key (laying down on ground next to stump) and mounted back up and ran out of Den ring. However you need to keep running far away from the Den circle so the wolves will retrieve back to their den without bringing you down off your mount. There might be some of the Blackrock guys chasing you to that distance, but those are easy to take down, rather then the pack of Wolves chasing you. This worked for me quite well. Hope it works for you.

Good grief, it's not hard to do.

The den is oval shaped and the Den Captain rides up and down the middle. Just follow his path down the middle and as long as you're not too close to him to aggro him, you'll be fine to walk. You won't aggro the sleeping worgs.

No running, no death, no mounting, no lying down..... just walk.

Quest title is a reference to oldie goldie Breaking up is hard to do by Neil Sedaka.
The fact that this had not been mentioned earlier was quite shocking, but then again, I guess most WoW players don't listen to music from the fifties.

This looks like it may be a reference to the Disney cartoon "The Emperor's New Groove" where he falls into a bit of sleeping jaguars and the squirrel pops the balloon.

Well the previous comments pretty much explained the quest so let me add one thing in case you might have been thinking along the sames lines as myself. My main is a lvl 85 Pally skinner and this quest didn't exist when he was the level for it. When my Warlock alt did the quest, it seemed like this might be a great place for the Pally to get leather, but I tried it-don't bother.

Sure, I went in there, aggroed most of the wolves at once and did them in real quick with the Pally's Divine Storm. But you can't loot 'em and you can't skin 'em. They just lay there in a white mist for a few moments, then vanish and respawn real quick.

I wasted my time checking on this so you don't have to. BTW, Neil Sedaka's "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" was released in 1962 and hit number one on the pop charts in August of that year.

The key is in the middle of the wolf packs, attached to a three-stump.
What you need to do is walk through, using the / key.

Or you could run in, die, and ressurect next to it, grab it and run like hell.
Wasn't really a problem at 85 :-)

Very simple- no conflict. Wait at stump at 46.6/37.4 and as the wolf rider walks away follow at safe distance behind him straight down middle of gauntlet of sleeping wargs. None will wake and key can be retrieved no problem. Retrace steps out.

Toggle walk DOES work. But you have to be slick about it.

1.Go in DOWN THE MIDDLE, from either side, just do it as the guard begins walking the opposite direction with his back turned.

2. Get key.

3. Get the hell out of there. (hearth works, just make sure your stone is set to Lakeridge).

4. Profit.

All I'm reading is about people dying and then respawning on the key. Just walk up the patrol path for the elite, no need to die. Considering the time you waste in dying and then walking back to your corpse to respawn. This method is just as fast maybe even quicker.

Trickiest yet, and contemplating abandoning. Only level 20. Lost all powers on approach. Even resurrecting on the pouch/stump, right click doesn't grab the key, and the sleeping wargs wake up really easy. Died multiple times so far.

Update: tried again, resurrecting right on stump; someone else came along drawing off a portion of wargs. Still couldn't grab key (/grab and /key didn't work). Was nearly through hearthstoning out when interrupted and killed again..
Only difference was that after I died, the cog sign on the stump activated (indicating the key was grabbable). Maybe you have to be targetted before you can get the key, in which case you die very quickly...
Will try ressurecting, being spotted, grabbing the key just before I die...

OK, so got the key; seems very finickity about exactly where you're standing. And walked out. THEN got killed, as powers are still gone. Sucks

Stupid quest. I have to google it every freaking time! Every freaking toon I level here...
you can sneak in while the guy on the wolf is patrolling up and down now, when you get to the log and click away frantically on the log because we are panicking that we are gonna die ..... and....nothing happens.
zoom in, its a key on the log. there is a cog to click.

Breaking Out is Hard to Do

Retrieve Messner's Cage Key.

Description

The key to this cage is stored in a pouch over at the worg den, just north of our location. The problem is that the pouch is resting safely atop a tree stump amidst a sea of bloodthirsty man-killing worgs.

You've got one shot to get that key without waking up any of those sleeping worgs. Head to the worg den and find a way into the center. Tread carefully and watch out for the Blackrock worg captain. Get the key and return to me.

If you got a pet, I'd recommend telling it to stay back!
