The completion dialogue for this quest is a reference to Fiery Core and Lava Core which dropped from elementals in Molten Core and were used primarily for fire resist gear. Funny!

Anvil is at 30.2, 39.3, in the eastern corner of the northern part of the caverns.

End of the Supply Line and Harrying the Hunters can be done by both factions, but "The Voice of..." followup requrement is different.
Goldrinn's Ferocity and Howling Mad allows other players to share you quests next on line, but Lycanthoth the Corruptor {H} will let you be in same phase as npc.
Into the Maw!{A2 ;H ;H2}. There are 2Alliance and 2Horde variants, for each faction one from wolf spirit and one backup from main quest guy in Shrine of Goldrinn.
Whole Firelands Forgeworks(8) chain doesn't have any pre-quests. You can get first time to Hyjal and ask warlock to summon you there and do the quests. However Lightning in a Bottle {H} is needed to use the standart teleport.

...for the dumb people like me that was looking for this quest on the surface, NO, you have to use the tele-porter to go to a place under the ground and do this quest and others

So - where do we get anvils? I got the cores and am AT the big anvil - and I can't complete.

Found it: After you go past the initial barrier, as the bottom of the "ramp" you can go left or right.

To the right is the long way to the guy with the huge anvil: this is the wrong one.

To the left should be two flame elemtal types and a single dwarf - in the middle of that mini "cul-de-sac" is the anvil to crush the cores.

Am I the only one to get a Diablo-esque vibe from this quest? I mean... Their cores are basically fiery soulstones, that let them come to life again and again, don't they? And you're taking them and smashing them upon an anvil, just like you did to Mephisto's stone.

There are two anvils. One is with two dwarfs and is in the hall on your first right once you get past the front line. The other one is farther down, and to the left. There are two guardians and a dwarf there. I took a screenshot comparing them and left the minimaps for those who prefer them. =]

Crushing the Cores

Acquire 8 Smoldering Cores by killing Searing Guardians, then smash them against a Twilight Anvil.

	Smoldering Core Destroyed (8)
	Smoldering Core (8)

Description

These searing guardians are murderous! We destroy them, and within minutes, they reignite from the ashes.

I think there's a way to destroy them permanently, but we'll need someone who can fight through the front ranks.

<name>, kill the searing guardians and take their smoldering cores to the nearby anvils. Smash them on the Twilight Anvils, and destroy them for good!
