This quest currently seems to be bugged, every effort to start excavating results in a despawn

If this is bugged on your shard/server, try joining a group in Zaralek Cavern, like the ones for the weeklies. That might get you to a shard which isn't bugged.

Try a low population server, or warmode on. It works as lons as no one talks to the NPC. (I did it in warmode in 1 run)

So for those who were totally confused, like me, when you need to get the bar back towards "fire" click on the little lava blobs running around. And it would be really nice if the "helper" you get didn't stand right on the totem so it's hard to see. Clunky mechanics, Blizz.

But... how do you do this quest? Ive talked to the npc to start the quest, clicked on the earth totem button, a totem appears. 5 little fire elementals tour around but then nada

Talk to the NPC.

Place the totem just between where the NPC is standing and the statue, on the rock floor, not on the rock itself.
Click the totem.
Watch the progress bar between Fire and Earth.
It starts at the Fire end, so keep it relatively in the middle.
Step on the fire blobs. Each time you do, you produce heat.
When the bar goes close to the Fire end, click the totem again.
Rinse/repeat.
After you get some momentum, click the statue to start mining it.
You will have to click your totem a few more times, and step on more fire.
Watch the statue each time it's clickable, when you've got the heat stabilized.
Get it to 100% like normal, and it will be done... thank god.
