How do the hidden wyrmtongue caches look like? Are the visible on the minimap? Is the wyrmtongue caches globaly spawned so when someone takes one it gets used up?

Okay who in blizzard team came up with the idea for this quest? I flew over the broken shore for around 3 hours and a half and found 2 chests in total. The worst from the campaign and probably the most annoying so far.

Like it says in the quest, you're supposed to Find 10 5 Hidden Wyrmtongue Caches on the Broken Shore.

They are the small chests appearing on minimap, and are actually small dark chests on the ground, usually hidden under bush or just simply visibly there. They despawn after a brief moment, when someone has looted them, so if you and someone else gets there at the same time, it's fine! You both should be able to loot it :)

Currently Mage Tower isn't up (at least on Argent Dawn -server), and so far I have been able to see the chests appearing on minimap. There also should be small arrow next to the chest to show if it's above or under your current location. Though if there isn't arrow, you're already at the same level as the chest.

This is a part of the Breaching the Tomb achievement, so it'll be available as part of the quest series that continues every week.

This one is available from Tuesday the 16th of May.

You'll have to find 3 Hidden Wyrmtongue Cache and loot them, to be able to hand in this quest. This used to be 10, but was later hotfixed twice.

This is where it the questline ends for me, just circled for 3 hours over the island and found 1 chest and it didn't count for the quest. I have 6 chars on the quest so thats not gonna happen. Did they lost their mind @ Blizzard?

The chests seem to spawn in waves. So you may circle around for 10-15 minutes and spot nothing, and then suddenly find many.

Before the ones hunting them have depleted them once more, and you're left circling with nothing to be found again.

Edit: Hotfixed in 7.3 so you only need 3.

Took me about 1 hour to get all 10 this morning. I found the chests will respawn in waves, about every 10 minutes. The most frequent spawn locations was about 57.58 coords in the caves and in the water off on the east coast nearby there. I started a search party in the group finder to have a party of 5 looking and we had our best success there. Good luck everyone, and happy hunting!

These weekly quest have been pretty bad but this one just tops it off. Are these quest not to breach the tomb? I was hoping for some lore filled fun campaign with illidan and khadgar but these quest have all just been filler work until the raid comes out. Very disapointed blizzard.

I found an out-of-the-way spawn point, parked, and server hopped. If you're a class that can breathe water (or have plenty of potions, legendary pole, etc.), I'm guessing an underwater spawn point would be even better. Not scintillating gameplay, to be sure, but got it done relatively quickly.

Don't ignore the outlying water areas of the Broken Isles. Cruise the coast, and you're likely to find some. I found 6 in 10 minutes, 4 along the coast. Happy Hunting!

This is not going to get a buff. 30 minutes tops, and that's with 0 buildings active (Ravencrest.) Don't forget to skim the coast line of the Broken Isles, as half of my pickup was there.

Completed this on 17th May 2017, the quest was fairly easy and quick, got 8/10 on the first flying rotation in Broken isles from Mid towards the West, Then SouthWest and SouthEast area.

2 Tips, Chests are visible as treasure chests in your minimap, and they can spawn in the same place twice, once i got 8/10, i did 2 WQs on Broken Isles and went back to same spots to get 2 other chests. Goodluck guys

Lot of angry comments here.

Actually the quest was not that bad.

I did all the world quests, watching the mini-map for the treasure icon.

When done I had looted seven chests.

Spent about 10 more minutes running around to get the other three.

All in all, took 50 minutes.

Edit: If I had just posted "waaaahhhh waaaaahhh" I would have been up voted.

What a dreadful unsatisfying quest. Why would anyone design this. I flew full circuit around the coast and then around the centre. Got 1 chest. Realmhopped and found loads of chests - none of them counted as kept ending up in raid groups. Thanks Blizz

Took me about an hour to find 10 of these on my main, which had already looted majority of the chests prior to this quest. However, when I did it on both my alts, which hadn't looted these chests before, I found that a lot more were available for me to loot, and each toon only took about 10 mins or so.

The veiled chests are on my map but I can't find them. Does the Mage Tower have to be up to locate these chests? My tower was up when I got the quest but as usual it was destroyed for the 25th time. Do I need to wait to rebuild it before I can continue on this quest?

Just trying to contribute and share my experiences a lil.

I didn't try to camp at all, after few log in and fly around without seeing one, i sort of gave up and take it easily, means i'll just pick up when i see one.

I logged in bit earlier today because my kid is aslept earlier than usual today, which is around 15min before daily reset, and i fly around and got all 10 of em, no competition at all.

i played on Blackrock NA. Not sure if it's lucky or matter of timing, but hope it helps.

The Hidden Wyrmtongue Cache chests don't spawn quickly like Brightly Colored Eggs. Respawn at any single cache location is very slow, possibly hours. This is more like herbalism or mining. Here are some of the best ideas posted (and my comments).

You are at a disadvantage if you don't have flying. Your competition will move very fast when a chest spawns on the mini map.

If you don't have flying, try contributing to Mage Tower construction to see Veiled Wyrmtongue Chests or try the locations at the end of the list.

The quest area is the entire broken shore. As Pinktail posted, go to Hidden Wyrmtongue Cache (click on the link) to see the Wowhead map containing spawn locations. You can mouseover each dot to see coordinates.

The chests continue to sparkle after being looted for about 2 minutes. You can be the second looter on a chest before it disappears without being in a party or even the same faction as the first looter. (About 8 out of 10 times.) I think this mechanic explains why a chest can seem to despawn as you approach it. (The 2 minute timer was up after the chest was looted.)

Keep your eyes on the mini-map and look for small silver treasure icons. Zoom your mini map out to see a wider area. Also you have to be very close to a cache to see it on the mini map. (Targeting macros don't work.) The chests on the ground sparkle, but they are dark brown, small and often hidden.

If you mouseover a treasure icon and the words Hidden Wyrmtongue Cache are yellow, the chest is more or less out in the open. If the words Hidden Wyrmtongue Cache are gray, the chest is hidden: in a cave, building or below deck in a ship. Cave entrances are often a distance from the treasure icon. If you go into a cave and don't see the treasure icon, leave. It's not there.

Check out the screenshots to see a number of cache locations with coordinates.

If you don't have flying try:

Deadwood Island. This is a large island to the west of Deliverance Point. The island is flat so you're not working your way around slabs of rock or fel pools. The area is contained. Beware the harpies and resident npc's. Occasionally a cache spawns on the nearby murloc beach.

While you wait for respawns, try Deadstone Isle to the north. If it's crowded, work on the quest during off-peak OR
Travel by water. Start at the beach south of Deliverance Point and walk/ride on water looking for treasure icons over wrecks. Continue up the east coast. There are 2 damaged horde airships on the beach a third of the way up the coast that are good spawn points. A couple of chests also spawn on or near the beach with the temple ruins (past the Aalgen Flight Point). Continue north. There are spawn points near the naga on the NE beach.

Buy a water breathing potion (and water walking potion) from the AH. You probably won't drown without a water breathing potion, but watch your breath bar.

Well it was great flying around for 30 minutes, interacting with in-game mechanics etc. It's not like I was staring mindlessly at the minimap for icons for 30 minutes while flying around. This could easily have been fixed by making the chests spawn/loot on per-character basis rather than some world drop. Unless ofcourse you want to punish people playing on high population servers.

The easiest way to do this quest is to just use the addon "World Quest Group Finder" or any addon that lets you quickly hop to other servers, and just joining random groups for nearby world quests going on. This will CRZ you onto another server and possibly a low pop server where all of these chests are up. I finished this thing in like 15 minutes without flying just joining different world quest groups.

Just completed this quest. Here is the secret: The majority of the chests are underwater. There are "damaged diving helmets" scattered underwater around the Broken Isles. Each broken diving helmet provides three minutes of underwater breathing. Find a helmet and start searching underwater. The chests stand out pretty well against the white sand bottom. I only found two chests above ground and I searched every TomTom waypoint that was listed in another post. Found the remaining eight chests in about 10 minutes---all underwater---good luck!

I'm sorry, but unless they upped the spawn rate of these things in the last two weeks, or you are all a bunch of whiners. I just did this in roughly an hour without flying. A few of the chests took effort to get to, find the cave they were in etc, but it was super easy to get.

Looks like this just got hotfixed and changed to 5 instead of 10. I started the quest and it says I need 10, but on my third chest I noticed the status text show 3/5. At 5 chests, status text showed completed but quest objective didn't, and no question mark showed on map. I went to Khadgar and sure enough, quest completed.

after the last patch theres a bug in the quest where you can only collect 5 chest and the quest stops counting.
After you collect the 5 chest just fly back to khadgar on deliverance point and turn in the quest, the quest will be grey as if you haven't completed it yet, but when you click on it you are still able to turn it in.
E.G. you need only 5 chests for the quest regardless of the quest obbjective showing 10 chests

As of 6/6, this seems to now only require 5 instead of 10 chests. As you find them it will show x/5 but the quest still shows x/10. If you go turn it in, it may be greyed out but you can complete it (or its a bug--but im thinking they changed it with the final quest unlocking now).

The requirement of this quest has been changed from 10 Hidden Wyrmtongue Caches to just 5 in the hotfix applied on 6th June. If you accepted the quest before the hotfix, the old requirement will still show, but you only need 5 caches now and you can hand the quest in even if it is greyed out.

The quest info still said 10 for me and the tracker still showed 5/10. But the quest info that popped up as I looted them said 1/5, etc...
After I got 5 it said completed on my screen but the tracker still showed 5/10. I looted a 6th and it did not update to 6/10.

I went and turned it in with only 5 looted.

Yay this quest sucked at getting 10 before so I am happy.

Just an FYI that as of today's date you only need to collect 5 treasures. The quest in ur list will show x/10 and after collecting 5 it will not mark as complete and you will still have a big yellow dot on your map to indicate where you should go to find some treasures. If you've collected 5, ignore it all and go straight to Khadgar. He will have a yellow question mark above his head and he will let you turn the quest in and give you credit after collecting five. Don't collect 10 - well, unless you're a glutton for punishment :)

Spoke to a GM and if you picked up the quest while it was still a requirement of 10 and you have 5 or more collected, head to Khadgar anyway and you will still be able to turn it in. Even though your quest log is saying you haven't completed it.

Just in case nobody's mentioned this so far: you can't cheese this quest by using group finder and hoping other people will find and loot chests for you... YOU must be the one looting every chest.

So don't make group finder quests for this quest, because you risk pulling people from other realms over to YOUR realm, so they can loot YOUR chests! :P

Quick tip since I just finished this.

Use the waypoints provided in this comments here but ONLY look at your mini-map. Don't worry about actually searching for the chests because your mini map will show you if there is a chest nearby and the radius for it to actually show up is really big.

I found several not on the waypoints but along the way.

So only stare at your mini-map while flying and look for the little chest icons on the mini-map.

The best way to go about this (in my opinion) is to download the addon HandyNotes and its plugin, HandyNotes Broken Shore. This not only shows the location of the caches but if you fly over them, it makes the chests opaque if they're spawned. This makes a quick and easy fly over of the island, swooping down to pick up the caches when one is spawned. Make your scan, wait for the reset, and then scan again. Good luck!

I finished this quest in about 5 mins, I just flew around the area and watched my mini map, the chests show up on it like the ones for the Treasures of 'blabla'. One was on top of a tower, the other was in the cave with Azrok the Torturer and two were on the south east coast, 54,70 by the wrecks. Seems to be random, just fly around and you'll find them easy

I flew around the area solo while watching my minimap and recorded the locations below. Someone beat me to one of the locations which is why I have it labeled as other. If you do get to the treasure within 10 seconds or so you can still loot it otherwise it disappears.

Currently doing this again on my sixth alt, and yes, all six times, there are a TON of caches around BEFORE picking up the quest, and ZERO while actually on the quest. I'm assuming all the rare elites I'm seeing right now will also disappear by the time I get to do Take Out the Head, just like all the other times.

I've had good luck with standing on Darkstone Isle and waiting. It's around 32, 32 I believe. There are three chests pretty close together. If you don't have flying, waiting it probably a bit easier.

They show up as little grey crate icons on your minimap. I found 2 in the caves under the Tomb of Sargeras, and another one near the walkway with felhounds

During previous quests in this line many caches were visible on minimap. As soon as i picked up the quest for this they all disappeared. As if i was phased into a different zone. Even caches i passed on the way to quest pickup were gone as soon as i accepted the quest.

I did this quest in less than 1 minute. If you have or get an addon that tells you where legion treaures are, the treasure chests contain the Hidden Wyrmtongue Caches. That saves you hours of searching for the treasure chests.

If, like others (myself included), you think they all disappear when you start the quest then you may be right.

Try leaving the zone and coming back in. I flew to Suramar and back and suddenly the broken shore was full with these darn caches.

The way I did it in about 10 minutes, without flying:

Download the add-on HandyNotes - Broken Shore
Pick a location where multiple caches are close together and easily accessible, like in the water on the edge of the map
Swim around checking the cache locations, pick up a diver's helmet in the water for fast swim speed
If all nearby cache locations have been checked, join any group with the premade group finder, in questing, and in Broken Shores. This phases you into the realm of the group leader
Check the cache locations again, since they could be spawned in the new server you're in
Rinse and repeat

Accepting this quest 100% phases your Broken Shore to remove chests. With the mage tower always up you can't take 5 steps without tripping over a wyrmtongue chest, but once you accept this quest they almost all disappear. If you hop on a flight master off of the Broken Shore it will de-phase you and you'll notice all of the chests come back on your way off the island. Flying back seems to put you back into regular phasing.

Legionfall Campaign:

***Note: It is recommended to work on the treasure finding quests the goblins south-west of Deliverance Point give you, in order for you to have eight world quests available when it comes time to complete them for step 11. The goblin's last quest isn't available until the following day/reset. Their final quest opens up the world quest Treasure Master Iks'reeged.

1. Assault on the Broken Shore (Intro Scenario)

2. Legionfall Supplies (Collect 100 order resources)

3. Aalgen Point (Visit flightplan)

4. Vengeance Point (Visit flightplan)

5. Begin Construction (Use construction table to donate Legionfall War Supplies to the construction of a building)

6. Altar of the Aegis (NOT REQUIRED!) (Accepting the quest will cause the NPCs to run away. Relogging will cause them to reappear)

7. Defending Broken Isles (Defeat a Legion invasion in the Broken Isles). If one is not available, it is recommended to continue on your class hall questline if it hasn't been completed yet. There will not be a follow-up quest to Defending Broken Isles unless you have completed your class hall campaign.

8. Champions of Legionfall (Return to your class order hall and recruit a new champion)

9. Shard Times (Collect 2500 Nethershards to give to Khadgar)

10. Mark of the Sentinax (Collect 50 Marks of the Sentinax)

11. Self-Fulfilling Prophecy (Complete 8 world quests on the Broken Shore)

12. Intolerable Infestation (Slay 50 demons in Faronaar or Felsoul Hold)

13. Relieved of Their Valuables (Find 3 Hidden Wyrmtongue Caches on the Broken Shore)

14. Take Out The Head... (Slay 3 Rare Elites on the Broken Shore)

15. Championing Our Cause (Successfully complete a Legionfall mission at your Class Order Hall) (The mission can be put in before ever accepting this quest, but do not complete/accept the rewards from the mission before accepting this quest in order to get quest credit.)

16. Strike Them Down (Slay 100 demons on the Broken Shore)

The Legionfall Campaign is then complete, and you should receive a quest from an NPC at Deliverance Point to start your class mount questline.

----The Deceiver's Downfall (Not mandatory!)
----Pillars of Creation (Not mandatory!)

The two quests listed above are definitely not required for the Legionfall Campaign (or to get your class mount).

So can confirm, going to Suramar and then back to Broken Shore helped. Went to 42 42, with HandyNotes ON (I disabled, then re-enabled and reloaded AFTER I got to BS) and 3 appeared. Got 2, 1 despawned due to another player. All 3 appeared within 2 minutes of each other.

To find the 3rd one, I went back to Crimson Thicket, then back to Vengeance Point. Reloaded UI, headed back to 42, 42 and found the last one in the same area. The hidden caches are near near the purple void-ish fel goo.

Minimap is your friend <3 Took me a week to figure it out, took not even 5 minutes total on 8.0.1. Went and checked on my Alliance toon, they spawn in the same spots. I think people are confusing these with the normal chests. These three keep spawning in the exact same spot over and over.

Just mount up, roam freely around broken shores, use mini-map and complete it in under 7 minutes just as I did :) dont read discouraging comments just roam randomly and focus on the mini-map you can spot em :)

After reading several comments about the Caches not appearing after accepting the quest, I too experienced this. What worked for me was "stop tracking" the quest (not abandon), jumped on a flight path and all of a sudden little white treasure chests started littering my mini map and i was able to run around and easily collect them. Hope this helps someone just trying to get their class mount :)

Found all 3 caches very quickly, opting to go into the ocean near fatigued water.

As suggested in some of the comments, I stopped tracking the quest then flew to Suramar and back. It worked! No clue as why this would be but sure enough I found the chests very quickly at that point.

This quest is horrible on high populated realms. It took me around 45 minutes to find 3 chests.

Found some chests on:

/way 49.87. 73.23 (entrance deck). it is actually below deck. It also disappeared because someone else clicked the chest before me.

Did this in 8.3, I want to re-confirm previous theory of having to leave the zone then come back in.

I spent 3 loops as a druid with 410% flight speed... got nothing. Left the area, took a flightpath back while watching Youtube. Instantly found not one, but 4 chests!

This quest messes with the spawnrate of the veiled chests around the Broken Shore, often you'll get close to a chest and go to loot it, but it disappears and gives the "there is no loot" message before you can loot it. Just leave the zone and come back, it should help.

As soon as you get this quest, untrack it and fly anywhere outside of the broken shore. I went to stormheim and watched a youtube video. Retrack it and fly to any flight point in the broken shore. In the process of flying to one point I found 2 by themselves. I then flew to aalgen point and found 5 relatively close by.

I just completed this quest and I had to disable add-ons. Once disabled the chest icons started showing up in the minimap.

- Rare Scanner

It appears that chests spawn on the hour. Flew around at 9:50 and didn't find anything until 10:01, at which point I couldn't fly a few yards for running into one.

I got the quest and didn't see any on map initially. I also had Carla's Cave quest where you go down the rope. Once I went down and back up, the caches started appearing in Broken Shore. Hope this helps

When i picked up this quest the mini map bugged and was not showing any chests. I did a /reload and they all appeared again.

I got scared a little after reading some of the comments here and I don't know if this pink "outline glow" has been added later or so but it took me like 5 minutes to find 3 chests... With the pink glow you can spot from like a mile ago, but maybe I was just reeeeaaally really lucky?

If you are here for you class mount, REJOICE!

From patch 9.1.5, Breaching the Tomb achievement becomes Account-Wide. Meaning it is only required on one character in order to unlock the class mounts quests on other alts!

HOWEVER, each character must still complete their class hall campaign, get their titles, and recruit their final order hall champion.

Been a while since the last post. Wanted to comment as of 9.2.5, the quest still seems to bug out once you accept it. Prior to the quest I was able to see all the chests on my mini map. Once I accepted the quest, all the chests disappeared. So I confirmed what other posts stated to do. I stopped tracking the quest, flew to Shackles' Den in Azsuna. Once I landed, I tracked the quest again and flew back to deliverance point. It worked. As I was flying in all the chests popped up on my mini map again.

So I just did this quest, and I followed what everyone had said. The only way I was able to make it work was if I turned off ALL my addon's, stopped tracking the quest, fly out of the zone, then tracked it again and flew back to the zone and they were there. I am posting this and I have not turned in the quest yet. I also submitted a report to Blizzard because there is no reason that this should still be an issue.

comments seem a bit misleading as at least in my case I found this quest really easy once I realised they showed up on the mini-map. I just flew around for maybe 3 minutes and completed the quest.

Just want to point out that some will still have to do a /reload to see the chests on their minimap after accepting the quest. Flew across half the island seeing no chests, which I knew was abnormal, checked here... did the reload and one appeared on the map almost beside me. Was able to complete the quest within 2 mins afterward.

Download the Addon "HandyNotes: Legion" and Fly across Broken Shore with the mini map zoom, and you will see a small treasures on it, collect them, and ready.

Description

Not all demons on this shore stomp around in the open. Some slink about in the shadows, finding more subtle ways to advance the Legion's cause. I have been observing the behavior of smaller demons, these wyrmtongues. They seem to spend considerable time acquiring objects of power. We cannot allow them to use these items against us. The wyrmtongues stash their goods in chests spread around the Broken Shore. I suggest you relieve them of their ill-gotten gain.
