You can't do this quest again if you did it pre-catacylsm. I wish I knew their logic since most of the other quests you can do again even though they are the same.

Oh, and just to be even more strange, the elders drop the quest items even though you aren't on and can't get this quest!

you CAN do this quest post-cata... just follow the quest chain which will eventually lead you to Theramore and you will follow more quests to North Point Tower where you complete this quest. so yes, hold on the battle plan!

You have to have completed the Deserters Storyline and have gone to Captain Vimes for him to refer you to Captain Darill.

Wharris is correct. I did this quest prior to Cataclysm while pursuing Loremaster. Having completed all the other quests at North Tower after being referred there by Captain Vimes. I was able to create the map but the quest was never given.

Note that you won't get this quest available until you've followed up the leads from the Shady Rest Inn. I assumed that it would be a followup to the raptor-wrangling quest that you get from the same tower and ended up destroying my battle plans before I actually had "Confirming the Suspicion" as a quest.

So, I lost track of this half way through and had to track this place down again. The Grimtotem Tribe is located in the very northern part of Dustwallow Marsh. If you go to the North Tower, there is a path leading you to the Grimtotem's camp, located just north. When I got there, I killed about nine of the breakers and one shifter before killing two elders. Both elders dropped the battle plans. Then while reading the quest objective, I see where it tells me to kill the elders... smh, if only I would read the objective first.
Anyway, hope the location helps you!

There are several quests in Blackhoof Village. If there are more players, it will be easier to avoid being swarmed. Enter the village from the North side through a break in the tent walls. Only the Grimtotem Elders drop a Grimtotem Note, not the other tauren in the village. Combine 4 Grimtotem Notes to create the Grimtotem Battle Plan.

I killed about 15-20 elders in a row - no note. I abandoned the quest, picked it up again and notes started dropping like rain.

I don't know if it had anything to do with me dinging and going back to the capital to learn spells, flight etc between picking the quest up and trying to do it.

date, 12/25/2022 I'm a high level at 65 hunter and can't seem to finish this quest because I'm too strong or something any ideas for fixing this? Just trying to get my achives in

hey, guys take note to update on this quest if you attack the Elders they give you the notes to make the plans that you need to turn in the quest they are inside and outside the area, so please look around and kill those groups or kind. have fun and make sure to look in your bags and click on the notes to make the plans page to turn in the quest.

Confirming the Suspicion

Collect 4 Grimtotem Notes from Grimtotem Elders and combine them into the Grimtotem Battle Plan.

Description

The Grimtotems may be the most warlike of all the tauren clans, but they're by no means unorganized. If they're the ones who put the torch to the Shady Rest Inn, they'll have had orders from one of their clan elders.

There's a large Grimtotem settlement called Blackhoof Village to the northwest. They've been using it as a base to attack the tower, but I'll bet that you'll find the orders you're looking for there. Check the village's elders for traces of the orders you seek.
