Kill the Firemane around 45, 66 (Stonemaul Ruins) and use the totem you were given on the corpses to collect the essences.

Lvl 45 Rogue Night Elf with Skinning - I was having "Invalid Target" issues with this quest. In the end, I had to turn off Auto Loot in order to get the essences. Then, once I killed the Firemane, I selected the corpse as if to loot it and while the Items window was displayed, I right-clicked the Totem. Then I was able to loot and skin the corpse without issue.

Found out corpses that other player killed and found out we can use Brogg's Totem on corpses that other players killed.

The Essence of Enmity

Bring 10 Black Dragonkin Essences to Brogg at Mudsprocket.

	Black Dragonkin Essence (10)
	Brogg's Totem (Provided) (1)

Description

To make the totem Brogg will need for his ritual, he must use the essences of the creatures who killed his friends. The hate and anger of Brogg's enemies will fuel the magic of his vengeance.

Track down Firemane ash tails, scouts, or scalebanes and use Brogg's totem on their corpses. Only when the dragonkin die will they give up their essences.

The creatures you seek swarm over the Den of Flame to the northwest and the Stonemaul Ruins to the north.
