Yay, more engineering mounts. Since engineering is a profession mostly for fun, I think us engineerers deserve more awesome stuff like this.

As is, it seems like it will be relatively inexpensive. If the materials stay that way, we should FINALLY be able to get a NON GOLD SINK mount, or we won't have to recruit a friend for a 2 person mount!
As of late, it appears that this has been renamed to Sky Golem, and personally, looks SO much better.

This mount seems destined to be very expensive, given the large amounts of raw materials required for it's crafting. But don't count on it getting any cheaper in the next expansion. The market for Pandaria ores will likely only tighten as suppliers move on and demand for this mount remains steady.

For reference, in order to get to the finished product, you will need raw materials in quantities as follows:

600 x 幽冥铁矿石
180 x 黑色延极矿石
180 x 白色延极矿石
900 x 祥和微粒

That last one is going to be a killer to farm. Assuming a drop rate of 1 every 3 minutes (or 20/hour), you'll only need 45 hours to farm up the motes you'll need to craft this mount. Obviously, your mileage will vary depending on where you farm, what spec you're using, and how densely packed the mobs can get without killing you. Nevertheless, you're still looking at a lengthy investment of time for the one raw material that absolutely cannot be purchased.

So, with the quest item working on PTR it has been confirmed that the Lightning steel ingots and Stabilized Lightning Source will be on a 1 day cooldown despite their tooltips.
This being said, This pattern will require 30 living steel, and 30 stabilized lightning source.
Currently, living steel are going around most servers for between 300-500g per piece. That being said, this has a base price starter between 9,000-15,000gp for the living steel alone.
Added in the fact that there is a one day cooldown for the new item... lets say we place it at 1,000g each(if this seems too high or low, let me know) resulting in an additional 30,000gp.

Mats alone, this item will market for 45,000gp, assuming you are ONLY paying for the mats and not including a small tip yourself.
I Am trying to find the benefit to either this mount, using my lightning steel ingots for the BS weapons(looks like they are only going to be used as transmog :( or selling the mount after i craft it for 50k roughly.

After reading the comments regarding price and selling the mount etc...as an engy and im sure most will agree........

The first person I make the mount for wont be AH, it will be for myself

So all you non engies out there be prepared to wait at least 60 days for this mount after it finally does go live.

Even then after 30 days of religiously pressing a button to use a proff specific cooldown.....you wont be getting it at base price, especially when every man and his dog on your respective servers, want quite easily the coolest 2 seater mount in game.

Tho as always im sure blizz will change the mats requirement last minute and we have to buy another 3x 20k vend mat.

SKY GOLEM For what its worth I thought I would pass on what info I could as of 7/28/13 8AM EST. I've spent a lot of time searching the net, fan sites, and playing the 5.4 PTR and managed to find a few things out, but none of which is absolute when it goes live.

SKY GOLEM is the craziest of all engineering mounts, imo. Its a ton of fun to fly, swaying back and forth, side to side, barrel rolls w/a turbo boost all while bouncing off anything you get too close to! The Sky Golem transforms into a robot on the ground. You sit atop his chest which is a big, mean goblin head and the whole thing shakes, ratttles, and rolls with all kinds of steam, whistles, buzzing, and so on.

In the Vale of Eternal Blossoms that has been corrupted by the Sha, you (an engineer of either type) can get a drop of Schematic: Chief Engineer Jard's Journal off presumably any mob here. I don't know if it has to be a mob that's corrupted, but I went with that since it seemed logical based on the research I had done. My journal drop was on my 6th kill, so it didn't take long at all.

The journal contained 5 new item recipes:

1) Jard's Peculiar Energy Source ***CAN BE MADE ONCE PER DAY***
2) Sky Golem
3) Pierre
4) Rascal-Bot
5) Advanced Refrigeration Unit

I can't confirm the journal will have all 5 recipes when 5.4 goes live, but it seems to be what most fan site's reader's comments think.

The possible good news about the Sky Golem mount is it at least in PTR it looks like any class can (and did, LOL) have one and is account wide. This I base ONLY on what I saw in PTR. Since there is some potentially pretty nasty bad news, I wonder if Blizz may make it a profession specific mount only.

The possible bad news has to do with the mats which at least for PTR are the following:

1) Quantity 30 of Jard's Peculiar Energy Source ***DAILY CD***
2) Quantity 30 of Living Steel

I only notated the Jard's Peculiar Energy Source as being once per day because I didn't know if any of the other items, both new and old, will or will still have a daily CD. I'm not a pro at this, just trying to help a bit :)

Needless to say, if the numbers and the daily CD is accurate once live it will be a month before we see SKY GOLEMs roaming our lands and skies... and maybe seas too! Further more, it may be even longer before someone is willing to sell theirs as I would expect most engineers would want to keep the first one for themselves. Of course there may be a few people out there like me who have at least 2 engineers that are level 90 and the profession maxed (I wanted to be able to make both new rockets in MoP), who may have one for sale in a month.

I guess its possible that Blizz won't(?) make the Jard's Peculiar Energy Source soulbound so that they can be sold on the AH and in trade chat. That would surely make it one of the hottest & costly mats in trade. Regardless, those with a maxed engineer will have to create and/or come up with a stack of mats and those who don't will have to come up with a much, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH BIGGER stack of gold to get one of the first up for grabs!

Hope this helps to answer some questions, gather a few thoughts, and perhaps start planning a strategy to be one of the first to get one of these crazy awesome mounts! Best of luck to all!

Sky Claw is a hook... on helicopter blades.

Sky Golem is a Goblin Shredder (mount I've wanted since I started playing) that flies.

I probably missed something, but can anyone please explain why people are still getting upset that we're getting the Golem instead of the Claw?

This is going to be a BIG moneymaker for engineers, just like 时沙之瓶 was for Alchemy. They're not restricted by "Requires Engineering" the way the Flying Machine and Turbo-Charged Flying Machine are, so it's going to be in big demand once people see how cool they are!

Total mats:

贾德的特制能量源 x 30

1 is made by using 10 幽冥铁块 for a total of 300 bars
1 bar is made from 2 幽冥铁矿石 each for a total of 600 ores just for the Energy Source

活化钢 x 30

1 is made by 6 延极锭 for a total of 180 bars

Two ways to get 延极锭 - either alchemy transmutation of 10 幽冥铁块 for a total 1800 bars or 3600 幽冥铁矿石

Or you can smelt together 360 黑色延极矿石 and 白色延极矿石

Altogether raw mats would be:

Either 4200 幽冥铁矿石

OR

600 幽冥铁矿石
360 黑色延极矿石 and 白色延极矿石

uh, just for the record, this does NOT drop on the 6th kill, the drop chance is rather low, so don't believe that showoff claming it's going fast

Any idea at what level of engineering this turns yellow (ie no more +5 skill up) for WOD?

Edit: I was able to make some testing at BETA;

Sky Golem or Piere or Rascal Bot all turns yellow at 605 skill level.

Retinal google was still yellow at 609 and will probably give skill until 615.

The hardest part is getting the Living Steel. I found that the fastest way is using Spirits of Harmony with Riddle of Steel, this way, you don't have to spend so much time farming ore. Considering you are limited to 1 Jard's Peculiar Energy Source per day, you should also be getting at least 1 Living Steel per day, so you can craft the mount in exactly 30 days. You need 90 Spirits of Harmony and 90 Trillium Bars if using Riddle of Steel (unless it procs as a Transmutation Master).

Get your 1.6 Spirits of Harmony from the Tillers, 1 Mote of Harmony and 1 Spirit of Harmony from the Isle of Giants and the other 3 Motes of Harmony from mobs in Pandaria. I'd recommend any place packed with mobs, such as the south of Sra'vess.

Somebody else did the math for total mats, but I think in terms of daily runs, so here's the math for that:

1 x Jard's Peculiar Energy Source == 10 Ghost Iron Bars == 20 Ghost Iron Ore

1 x Living Steel == 6 x Trillium Bars == 60 x Ghost Iron Bars == 120 x Ghost Iron Ore

Total: 140 x Ghost Iron Ore per day

(Obviously this does not include the other methods for creating Living Steel or Trillium Bars, because those require rare ingredients and this post is just about the basic daily farming.)

with bfa you need to skill mop ingi from 1-75 to get the reciept to drop from a mob - i used timeless island the first 20 mobs and the reciept was there
no drop unless mop ingi skill 75/75 was met... possibly 60 as gnome with aditional 15 ingi skill via race might be possible not not tested yet

How I farmed for sky golem october 2020 shadowlands prepatch

So I spent some time researching the best possible way to get this mount. Since I just rejoined world of warcraft, my economy was quite low (around 50k g). I spent a lot of time trying to up my GPH on different farms. With the skygolem going for 60K a piece on my realm, I could propably farm the mount within 20-30 hours just bying it off the auction house. Instead I wanted to do everything myself starting from scratch (2 chars in 50).

To do this completely on your own you will need:

Pandaria engineering in 75 for 贾德的特制能量源 and the sky golem mount itself of course.
Pandaria Alchemy in 75 for 钢铁之谜 and 转化：延极锭
Classic Alchemy in 50 for 点金石
30 days of waittime

Breakdown of Raw Materials needed for the Skygolem
30 x 贾德的特制能量源
30 x 活化钢

To get your 30 x 贾德的特制能量源 you need 10x 幽冥铁块 to make 1 and since you need 30 it's 30x10 = 300 幽冥铁块 which are crafted from 2x
which adds up to ta total of

600 x 幽冥铁矿石 for 30 贾德的特制能量源

To get your 30 x 活化钢 you need 3x延极锭 and 3x祥和之灵 for 1 which adds up to a total of

90 x 延极锭
90 x 祥和之灵

To get 1x 转化：延极锭 you need 10 x 幽冥铁块 which totals to 900 bars in total or:

1800 幽冥铁矿石

Grand total raw materials
All in all for the route I took require:

2400 x 幽冥铁矿石
90 x 祥和之灵
Step 1Getting your engineer ready
Get started on your engineering as this will take you 29 more days after you use the first cooldown of 贾德的特制能量源. It will require 10 x 幽冥铁块 so if you need to get started quickly you can buy those out of the AH untill you are able to do them on your own. However you should be able to. But otherwise go ahead and spend some Gs on that. Getting to 75 pandaria engineering is quite cheep and quick. Either buy the mats of farm them. There's plenty of guides on how to get to 75 so I won't spent time fleshing that out.

Once you are 75 you need to get your hands on 结构图：首席工程师贾德的日记 It will apparently drop off any mob in Pandaria area. The drop chance is quite high so you will get it maybe even within just a few minutes. You can read all about it under the journal comments itself if you need more information. It will teach you how to create the sky golem mount and the 贾德的特制能量源 which is the bottle neck in this entire farm and why it takes 30 days to complete. Now all there's left to do is creating those 30 bastards. I used my first CD with auctioned materials as I did not bother to play more for that day :D

Step 2 Alchemy
You need to get your hands on the following recipe 配方：点金石 as it is needed for transumation on your alchemist. I bought mine off the AH for around 800gold. It will require 50 in classic alchemy. There's a few alternatives that i did not go over, so you might be able to get to transumation in a cheaper way. It will be needed in order to create 活化钢

Once you have that it is time to get your Pandaria alchemy to 75. This is also fairly cheep and straight forward. You will need to learn to transmute 活化钢 via 钢铁之谜 as well as 转化：延极锭. This is learned via procs while leveling the pandaria alchemy. If you reach 75 without theese discovered I believe you can keep creating health potions via 绿茶叶 which in practice are free off the AH (at least on my realm). So fairly easy as well.

Step 3 and 4 - farming the materials

Farming 幽冥铁矿石
I circled one specific route which averaged on 550 幽冥铁矿石 an hour. It's circeling the mountain around "The heartland" in 四风谷. I am by no means an expert in maxing out the ores per hour. The 550 was good enough for me. There's plenty of routes on the internet you can use. Pro tip is to use the "Routes" addon which allows you to draw the route and see it on the mini map. Propably there's a lot of better / just as good alternatives to this.

Farming 祥和之灵
This is best done in the raid "Heart of fear" 恐惧之心. You will average on 10 x 祥和之灵 per hour per character. I only did it on one char at a time, but would propably be able to get 30 x 祥和之灵 per hour if you use 3 chars to do it. Haven't really tested it though.
The way to do this is simply run into the instance, clear all the trash before first boss. Run out and reset. This can be done 10 times per char per hour. I found this the most boring part of the entire Sky golem farm.

Sky Golem as profit of AH (untested totally ballpark figure)
If you manage to sell your Sky golem of the AH for 50k gold you will end up with approx:
5 hours to farm 2400 x 幽冥铁矿石
5 hours to farm 90 x 祥和之灵

50000 / 9,5 = 5200 gold per hour

This is just a guesstimate though! There's propably better ways to farm gold than this as you can only do this once per 30 days. Theoretically you could setup your own little engineering factory with chars learned this trade to up the production rate and cut the time down per engineer.
