Spelurk is in side the Mysterious Den. There may be other ways to get him to spawn, but this is how I did it.

When I got there, the cave was open. Inside the cave to the left leaning up against a rock is a Rock-Breaking Hammer. I actually waited till the cave in where I couldn't get out and then picked up the hammer, couple folks came in and picked it up but nothing happened... When I clicked on the rock pile/cave in, Spelurk spawned.

There's a "Tattered Note" outside the cave, it reads:
I have tried everything to remove this cave-in! Black Ox give me fortitude, I cannot move even a single rock. Perhaps if I were to borrow one of the great weapons of legend from the temple grounds...

Probably a clue on how to do it the correct way, but I haven't found it yet either.

Pick up the Hammer that appears in the corner. The hammer applies a 5min buff. Wait inside the cave until the cave-in occurs. When the cave in occurs (make sure your hammer buff is active--if needed, get another hammer!), right click the cave-in rocks. Spelurk will appear once the cave-in is cleared.

I used 焰心斗篷 twice on the rocks of the cave in and they turned blue, i couldn't try more cause I ran out of the buff, may try it later if I find 焰心斗篷 again

To enter the cave without the Hammer requires getting one of the Timeless Artifacts on the Isle and using the ability on the rocks. They will then break and Spelurk will spawn.

Two useful hotfixes for Spelurk:

A 碎石之锤 will now always be available to players inside of the Mysterious Den.
雪流虎爪, 河语者三叉戟, and 焰心斗篷 will now properly destroy rocks in the Mysterious Den.

Anyone have a time on how often the cave-in happens? ever 30m to 1 hour like the island rare spawns in general? or is it something else?

These co-ordinates do not include spawn locations for:
Evermaw he circles the Isle very quickly in a clockwise pathing.
Ironful Steelhorn they are common spawns found all around the lower forest.
Emerald Gander they are common spawns found all around the lower forest.
Also, NPC's with 2 marked spawn points, such as the Great Turtle Furyshell, Monstrous Spineclaw, Bufo, Python etc. are known to spawn in multiple areas between or around those two points. So the co-ordinates I've listed are more of a point of reference than a place to stationary camp.

**I've tried for the best accuracy I could, but if you notice I've missed anyone or listed any co-ordinates very wrong, please let me know and I'll fix it asap**

the most simple way to get in the cave is if you ask a friend, from another realm, to invite you in a party.In Group you have the first few seconds to get in the cave (when you phase to the friends realm). Because the stones disappear shortly.

Spelurk is a very convenient way of farming coins and other rare drops from the Isle. Simply get a cross-realm addon like Oqueue, move inside the cave and start switching through servers. The odds are good you'll end up on a realm where the boulders are blocking the way. Take the Rock-Breaking Hammer and Spelurk will spawn. Rinse and repeat.

As a druid you can use Displacer Beast to get inside the cave: Aim for a small gap between rocks and blink inside - if you hit the right spot, you will blink a couple yards forward and land in between rocks. You can now just walk inside the cave and use the hammer to open it for everyone else, spawning Spelurk and making the chest inside available.

I assume Mages can do the same with Blink.

When I did this the second time I could not use the hammer - I don't know if this was a bug or if you can only use it once a day/week/whatever. In any case: A rogue could Shadowstep to me inside the cave and open it up.

I got into the cave this way:

There is an opening in the upper left part of the cave in. I could not jump or climb up to get there.
But I could jump step by step down from the Blazing Way at the beginning of the bridge.

For those of you who still have or can get 蘑菇椅子 from the Molten Front faction: just stand right next to the rocks after their down, cast chair into rocks, sit, stand, walk inwards, pickup hammer, smash rocks, kill spelurk, lol.

As a lock with Glyph of Eye of Kilrogg you go up to the hole, cast Eye of Kilrogg, move inside a few feet and cast Demonic Circle, then just teleport in.

There is a way to simply walk inside if you can move precisely.

1) ride all the way up to the bridge, past where the ropes leading to the rope-bound chest start.
2) Get a little past the first knob with a rope (the one you jump onto to get to chest) and look down. There is a fairly large, square-ish shelf quite a bit below, with a skyserpent egg on it. You will take 250k damage jumping there, take it into account.
3) From this shelf, you can jump directly onto the ledge right above the cave's entrance. Aim to get onto the highest point bulge.
4) Switch from run to walk if you haven't already, turn face to the wall and back to the open air. Walk backwards slightly to the left. You should drop on top of the rockpile, close to the top of the entrance arch. From there you can slowly walk ahead. Just keep trying until your toon enters "into" the stones that make a rockfall - you will get inside.
5) Grab hammer, spawn rare, kill.

As a warrior you can get through the fallen rocks by pulling one of the nearby tigers to the front of the cave. If you are lucky, when it does it's Pounce it will jump inside the cave. Then Charge to the tiger and you're inside.

If you have 微风精华, you can use it and jump right through the rocks to pick up the hammer. As long as the effect is active you can jump through the rocks.

I used my warlock and Eye of Kilrogg to place my Demonic Circle l inside the cave and then ported in. You need to have the Glyph of Eye of Kilrogg to do this. I wonder if anyone else has had similar success with this trick.

You can easily get into the cave using 微风精华.

Simply activate it and jump toward the cave in... easy as pie!

As a hunter, simply use disengage with your back to the rocks to leap backward and into the cave.

Recently it seems that anyone is able to just walk into the cave, possibly this is the way Blizzard intended. The opening that mages and druids used to blink through is now open for anyone to just casually wander through, giving way to the Rock-Breaking Hammer and Spelurk.

Edit: Since my original post the Cave In has been changed once again, an additional boulder now blocks the original opening. This is easily bypassed by standing between the tree and the cliff wall and wedging yourself in, jumping up and then using your W key to move forward. Do this repeatedly and you will reach the top of the rocks where you can run across and drop into the cave.

Anyone can open the cave to get to Spelurk - with a little help from a random friend.

Take a passenger type mount such as a Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth (this is what I use) and pop a passenger in it.
Back it up to the rocks.
Keep backing up once you hit the rocks - Until you are dismounted by the game for being indoors.
When the passenger is ejected they are thrown back enough to go over the collision point and they can get in, technically they are in.

To get a visual of this, mount up, eject a vendor and note how he is thrown back, same thing happens with all passengers.

Some Tips:

If you are not being dismounted you are in the wrong spot. However, you can eject a passenger and throw them into the cave but it is not as reliable. Once you get the spot, you will be dismounted and you will know how to do this from that point on.
Your passenger will not be thrown into a fight with Spelurk, he does not appear until the rocks are broken, so he has only seconds with Splurk alone. It should also be noted that this mechanic prevents the person from being able to solo/Ninja Spelurk.
Basic instruction: Right click hammer, mouse pointer turns into a cogwheel when you hover over the rocks, right click rocks, no cast time.

Or then you can just jump up on top of the rocks from the right side of the cave entrace which will allow u to drop down into the cave. No more mages or druids!

Don't know if it has anything to do with me doing it as gnome and wriggling through a crack where a bigger race couldn't :) but here is a simple thing that works: engineering nitro boosts! Nobody mentioned it, but I've been getting in this way on a regular basis lately. I found if you stand too far from the rocks it doesn't work, but if you position yourself just a few meters away, use nitro boosts and run forward, you're in, simple as that.

EDIT: 2014/04/15 Lately I haven't been able to do this at all, just keep hitting the wall, so not sure why it worked before, or why it doesn't work anymore.

You can climb the rocks to get inside. No need for mages and such.

I just did it on my Orc Rogue. Get behind the two rocks to the right of the entrance. Jump your way to the top center of the cave opening and you can walk right through to get the hammer and start the event.

His name, Spelurk, most likely comes from the word spelunker, which stands for 'one who explores wild cave systems', and the word lurk, as he's just standing there and lurking for players instead of exploring.

I see all these ways of getting in using items and whatnot, however, fear not!

There is a way to getting in by a series of jumping. I believe Tauren are too big to fit, however it should be fine since you probably have the item from the ship, which turns you to into a skeleton.

I'm just posting to complaint that I've killed this #$%^er 111 times and his rare hasn't dropped for me yet. Sometimes when I !@#$% it drops soon after.. so.. here's hoping.

Btw didnt see a max respawn timer here, but can confirm that today I encountered a respawn of 133 mins, never seen it longer than 1 hr before..and no i didnt miss a respawn.

If you can't get in use 蘑菇椅子 right in front of the rocks. Sit. Then stand and walk straight in.

Something odd happened to me today.

I used realm-hopping to find this rare up, and after killing him, he simply didn't give me loot.
I tried another realm, killed him again... and again no loot.

Anybody else with a similar problem?

I recently discovered that you can go through the rocks using any of the toy costumes from the Day of the Dead. For those who collect toys this should be one of the easiest ways.

Sat on this for 45 mins before I found a Flameheart at 55, 50 and that destroyed the rock wall easy. Oddly when we got inside the hammer wasn't there and he was already spawned. Tried jumping the rocks as others have said but that didn't work for my hunter or my demon hunter.

Alright, when I reached the cave, it was already open. I saw the hammer and grabbed it and waited inside, nothing.
I took the hammer and left the cage, probably 15 min passed, without the cave closing. So I just went inside and afked for another 15min, the cave wasn't closing.
In the end I was like meh, whatever. Grabbed the hammer and left. Turned around and the cave finally closed.
I right clicked the entrance to destroy it with the hammer and Spelurk was finally spawned. Hammer inside was gone btw.
Bummer, he only dropped 56 Timeless Coins for me.

1. Stand to the right of the stone that is to the right of the tattered note.
2. Put out Nat Pagles fishing chair facing toward the inside of the cave
3. Get in it.
4. Jump out forward toward the inside of the cave.
5. Keep walking forward.

That cave is my new house, I haven't breath fresh air in the last month or so, I have parked my main in that cave waiting for those dreaded 45(ish) re-spawn minutes.

Some days I kill him 10 times, some others 15 times... but at the end he still laughing at me.

Hundreds of bones are now piling... rotting a few feet (2 washing machines for you American) from the entrance... by my calculations in 15 days more the cave will be filled with Spelurk corpses.

I will not move until It drops the cursed "Cursed Talisman"

I started doing cave pictographs with the blood of each corpse that has spawned. My add on says I've kill him 191 times but its been less time its been installed than I've actually been hunting this guy... I will prevail!

• It's been 7 more days... 304 Kills. I have tried reseting it (running out of the cave) and also tried it to killed it under the sun... Still No Luck!

You can use baby spice on yourself and squeeze through the rocks. Baby spice is easily available at your inn in Draenor.

As a warrior i used 整体缩小仪 and then I used Heroic Leap to jump in. You have to find the small gap between the rocks for the Leap to work

I have 2 alts farming him, its been about 8 months of MOSTLY 2 kills a day (1 each alt). I get loot about 3 kills a week. 3/14 kills.... this is going to take a while

As of 10.1.7 if you're a tailor you can craft the 冰冷软垫 toy or you can have a tailor make this. By using this next to the rocks, hugging the rocks essentially, using the toy then dismounting will get you inside to pick the hammer.

With Dragonflight you can also use the 舒服的毛皮堆 or the 非常舒服的毛皮 both of which you can buy from the Maruuk Centaur renown vendor.

Works exactly the same as the fishing chair. Just climb up the rocks on the right, place the pelt while you are facing into the cave and sit on it. You have to use the exit vehicle button or /leavevehicle to get off and then boom you're in.

The current reset timer for 永恒岛 appears to be 15-minutes. This means if the zone has been empty for that amount time, that particular shard/layer will reset the moment you reenter the zone. This can be a highly effective method for farming rares for 需要一个大背包, opposed to the traditional camping method of every 30-60 minutes, especially on RP servers, War Mode and Chromie Time groups.

Probably killed him about 500 times now, starting the "Going to need a bigger bag" achivement post mist of pandaria/draenor is perhaps the most difficult achievement you can get closely followed by the Nazjatar version of this. It is literally insane, people don't understand just how incredibly incredibly difficult it is to get now. It's simply not worth it

Pandaria Remix. Put the Soulshape on your gear, teleport in and then use the hammer to get out to spawn the rare.

in remix I waited for an hour for this rare to spawn and it doesn't have that protective stage for a minute, so if anyone wants to do the achievement in remix you have to wait there and attack it immediately

Just used a Blue-Covered Beanbag, toy obtaines easily if you played Dragonflight. I put as close as possible to the rock, on the right, sit on it, then run away of it in the rocks, and went through, then when you are in, break the rock to make it spawn.

After 10 days farming Spelurk with 8 characters, i got the Cursed Talisman. At least 30-40 kill a day and this one was hard to got.

Most of the top comments are outdated. I wasn't able to activate the event until I clicked the hammer, got the buff, left the cave, and right-clicked the tattered note to the left of the entrance. As soon as I clicked it, the collapse happened, and the event started.

have not tried on other toons.

on my hunter, i could not get in the cave at all. every time i approached it, the cave in would spawn, stopping me from getting the hammer.

the tattered note beside the cave in said to seek an ancient weapon from the arena grounds, but i could not find anything after more than an hour searching.

it was through a mis click that i found something that worked for me and has worked multiple times.

at location 50.17, 71.61, in the little courtyard, you can find the flameheart item that give you the like named ability while on the Timeless Isle. Using this ability and clicking as near the cave in as possible will destroy the rubble AND spawn Spelurk.
