This pet will be released as the common loot from the WoW TCG Expansion "Tomb of the Forgotten". The official release date is June 12th 2012.

Facts:

Same model as the scarabs found in Zul'farrak dungeon.

The loot items from this set are:
Sand Scarab (1/3)
Spurious Sarcophagus (2/3)
White Riding Camel (3/3)

Loot from Warcraft Tomb of the Forgotten TCG expansion

Its a common loot card you redeem for the in-game code from the http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/misc/en/promotion.html page

then you have to go to 兰德鲁·郎绍特 in booty bay to redeem for the in-game pet. He just down the path from where the boat pulls in, got two other goblin "bouncers" with him

It's soul bound sadly, I had thought to try to gift it to my boyfriend but no go, I guess I'll just have to give him the code. Some of the loot cards can be redeemed without being soul bound /shrug...

Would have been cooler as an Aqua gem-mie color or more golden but I guess it wouldnt be a "sand scarab" then...maybe theyll make some reskins...

As of Mists of Pandaria, you can trade/auction these by redeeming the code, using it, and in the battle pet menu right clicking on it and choosing "Put in cage". Now finding the right price for them is the next challenge.

A look-alike for this scarab spawns in Silithus, mostly as a secondary or third battle pet (though it can spawn as primary and alone outside AQ). The look-alike is 甲虫幼虫. It comes in four colors (you can only tame a max of three), however, the teal version has a look-alike that spawns in Uldum and counts as a different pet 托维尔圣甲虫. In short, you can get all four colors of the scarab without the trading card pet (though you will have one less total unique pets credit).

It frequently makes a strange sort of clomping sound. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be, and there's no accompanying animation. To my knowledge, none of the other beetles make this noise.
