Tested on 21/09/2023. You get the following buff for using the dagger on different enemy types:

- Aberration will grant you Visions of Beyond (Spell ID = 424847). "Upon taking Magic damage, heal for 1% of your total health. This effect cannot occur more than once every 30 seconds. Damage taken by Aberrations increased by s1% (30s cooldown)"

- Beast will grant you Wildest Dreams (Spell ID = 424848). "Falling damage greatly reduced. While below 50% Health, your Leech is increased by 10%."

- Critter will grant you Guilty Conscience (Spell ID = 424856). "-10 to all stats. You've taken it too far."

- Demon will grant you Demonic Dread (Spell ID = 424849). "Shadow damage taken reduced by 6%. Physical damage taken increased by 6%. Holy damage taken increased by 6%."

- Dragonkin will grant you Devastating Dreams (Spell ID = 424850). "Gain 5% Mounted Speed and Movement Speed. Doubled on continents you have fully explored."

- Elemental will grant you Elemental Augury (Spell ID = 424851). "Reduces Fire, Frost, and Nature damage taken by 1%. Can walk on water."

- Giant will grant you Colossal Majesty (Spell ID = 424852). "Stamina increased by 2%. Speed reduced by 5%. Size greatly increased."

- Humanoid will grant you Whispers of Northrend (Spell ID = 426279). "Shadow Damage taken reduced by 3%. Changes each day." -- Note: It seems to be changing daily based on the description.

- Mechanical will grant you Dream Salvage (Spell ID = 424854). "+1 Engineering. When you fall below 20% health, heal for 10% of your maximum health. This effect cannot occur more than once every 3 minutes."

- Undead will grant you Underworld Dreams (Spell ID = 424855). "Reduces Shadow and Frost damage taken by 1%. Additionally, you can breathe underwater indefinitely."

After some testing, i've decided to go for the Beast Version. Mostly due to the fact that im playing assa and i have natural 12% leech (+ the under 50% health) which is increased to 22% (+ 1-2 items i have with leech) which increases my leech to a little over 25% leech.
You are not often under 50% but when you are, you are healing massively especially on AOE or during your burst windows / in execute in raid. Its like being a Demon Hunter :D

Unequipping the dagger removes whichever buff you had, which is expected.
Unexpectedly, re-equipping the dagger gives the buff back, remembering which buff you had.

The buff has no duration, and persists on log-out if it's still equipped.

Easy beast tag are the beetles around Valdrakken fountain, Giant is the Tank training dummy near PvP vendors, Mechanical is the normal training dummies also in the PvP area.

Unfortunately the little bonus effects come at the cost of this being unique-equipped.

I don't think it's optimal for any Rogue specs, but being a drop from only the second boss would have been a nice way to get weapons early.

Don't get "Elemental will grant you Elemental Augury (Spell ID = 424851). "Reduces Fire, Frost, and Nature damage taken by 1%. Can walk on water." this buff, or change it when you do throne of the tides or it'll kill you after you go through the water spout cause of the water walking LOL

To activate the buff on your character, you have to right click the dagger to "use" it during the fight of whatever type mob you need to kill to get the buff. It won't work if you try to "use" the dagger after the mob is dead; it has to be used during the fight while the mob is still alive.

There is something different about this weapon buff in TWW. During DF once you had applied the weapon buff, it would stay forever. This no longer seems to be the case.

I first noticed a few weeks ago, when trying it out in my speed set for the first time in TWW. The buff was gone. So I went and tried to reapply it (thinking it would not work), and it did work. Once I had reapplied it it seemed to stay there, through relogs and weapon changes. All seemed good again.

Today, when equipping the weapon, I noticed the buff was again gone! I don't know what causes the buff to disappear, but it does not feel worth it going out of my way to reapply it every time.
