These races are much, much easier than the previous Kalimdor Cup. There's no more "tree bosses" aka Durotar. I would say the "hardest" race was Elwynn Forest and that was simply due to the lack of visibility. On average, none of the races took me more than three attempts for Gold on each mode (Advanced, Reversed and Normal.) You definitely don't have to worry about doing the Skyward Ascent "trick", Surge Forward will work just fine. None of the timers are that tight, either. I got Gold with at least 1-4 seconds to spare on most races. Good luck!

These races are similar to the Dragonflight base achievements, so the same strategy will work. Start out with 2 casts of 向前突进 and then try to hold charges until you cap at 5 (of course use them if you're going to lose your buff which accumulates them). Once you hit 5, keep hammering 向前突进 over and over until you run out. If you are getting near the end but aren't capped yet, you can so into spend mode then too. You don't need the 冲天升腾 trick on most of the courses, they are much more about dodging obstacles and terrain features than the core dragonriding optimizations. Good luck!

Some general tips

Momentum is key. I know this seems obvious, but consider that, the faster you're going, the sooner you reach green spheres, which you can in turn use to keep your speed up, which in turn gets you to the next one faster. This feedback loop is critical for getting good times. Once speed is lost, it's often hard to regain. You'll also find that, once you do keep your momentum up sufficiently, you'll destroy even the advanced and reverse timers - it might just take a few tries to figure each course out.
Sometimes a small deviation to grab a green sphere is worth it. This has probably been more true in previous courses, but in Winterspring (which might be the hardest overall course this time around), there's a notable part where this is really helpful. There may be others which I missed, don't be afraid to deviate a little to grab a green sphere.
Turning costs you some speed. Because of this, try to avoid using surge forward into a turn. Make the turn, then surge forward.
Do use skyward ascent where appropriate. Don't just angle up and hit surge forward when you want to gain a non-trivial amount of height. Skyward ascent is a great ability that gives you a ton more momentum than you might expect. Make sure you don't under-utilise it.
In the same vein, there are vanishingly few opportunities for whirling surge - at best a couple in the thousand needles course, but even there it's not really good. The vigor cost is just too high, you're always better off using that same vigor for 3 spaced out surge forwards.
Bronze timelock doesn't currently work in Kalimdor. Obviously you can't place it prior to a race, but interestingly it's disabled during races as well. You don't really need it, and beyond very occasionally getting a small skip to the end, it was rarely used in races anyway.
Aerial halt has no use for races and should be avoided.

Some race-specific thoughts

I found that:

There was only one harder course this time around - Ironforge Interceptor reverse. This took a few tries to get a gold time on, the rest had somewhat generous timers.
4 medium-difficulty courses, Plaguelands, Twilight, Krazzworks and Elwynn - I couldn't on-sight these, and it took 3 or 4 tries to get them right. These generally have had a tight timer or a challenging course, but not both.
9 easy courses, Gilneas, Loch Modan, Fuselight, Searing, Redridge, Deadwind, Gurubashi, Booty Bay, Blasted Lands - these took 1-2 tries, and usually took a significant mistake to fail.

Your mileage may vary, I might've had a lucky or unlucky run in a few places, but if like me you prefer to get the hard ones over with first, this might give you something to start from. There are two fewer courses than Kalimdor, and in my opinion these are on average far, far easier.

Krazzworks Klash	link	link	Medium difficulty, timer is OK enough, but it's easy to snag yourself on something in the Krazzworks.
Loch Modan Loop	link	link	An easy course, a generous timer and not much to hit, just dodge the fire.
Fuselight Night Flight	link	link	An easy course, dodge fire, timer is trivial.
Searing Slalom	link	link	An easy course, not much to dodge, not a tight timer.
Ironforge Interceptor	link	link	Advanced is easy, but reverse is almost certainly the hardest course - took me a lot of tries, the timer is tight.
Elwynn Forest Flash	link	link	Quite a visually cluttered course, but a really easy timer - I made a bad mistake on the first try and still hit gold.
Redridge Rally	link	link	An easy course and timer.
Deadwind Derby	link	link	A very easy timer on a fairly easy course
Gurubashi Gala	link	link	A very generous timer, but an annoying course. Very visually poor - some plants you can (and need to) fly right through, some will stop you dead. Took a couple of tries to figure out.
Booty Bay Blast	link	link	A reasonably easy course with an OK timer.
Blasted Lands Bolt	link	link	An easy course, though a fairly tight timer.
