This robe is very nice and worth the DKP. Would I take it over the Robe of Volatile Power? Yes, especially since you are already dropping other bosses in the Molten Core and can put together the 3 piece set +dmg bonus. I would only go for the full set and reduced threat if your guild is only able to do MC and nothing higher.

Personally I feel the Robe Of Volatile Power, are the best robes from MC, the 2% crit and nice spell damage are a must :) Just a suggestion. Sides the reduced threat from arcanist is a miniscule amount, and in the long run isn't very noticable.

Regardless of there being numerous better robes out there for a mage, these are still worthwile to pick up. Spell damage + fire resistance + big intellect. Very useful indeed.

This robe is quite possibly one of the best robes in the game when it comes to raiding MC and BWL. The +10 fire resistance provided by this item is almost invaluable to any raiding mage. It helps out greatly for those fights what require a high amount of fire resistance, such as Ragnaros and Onyxia. It also gives an additional +23 spell damage, which is only beaten by a few select items. It also has a very nice design.

Stat-wise, this robe is very good for raiding, but not so good for other events, such as PvP. The +25 intellect is superb for increasing your mana pool, and the +19 stamina gives a very nice amount of health. It also gives a good amount of spirit, which will increase your mana regeneration.

However, if you are looking for a robe that will greatly increase your damage output, I recommend using Robe of Volatile Power (gives an additional +23 spell damage, and increases your spell critical chance rating by 28, roughly 2% in the old system). However, it does not have the intellect and fire resistance that this item does.

i didn t notice this earlier... arcanite now got little more dmg+ but lost TONYS of int.. well kind of make since cuz the old stats most part of the armor had more int then tier 2 but kind of sux cuz the int amount loss is bad. i dunno maybe just me.

look on the wow website if you pay close enough attention to some of the SS's Blizzard testers take you will see that they have on either standard sets or epic sets on. I have seen the mage stuff along with druid and i think priest.

Just got this from Magmadar tonight.Amazing robe with very nice stats.What Impressed me the most though is the new look.I put it on thinking I would look like a Priest only blue ....

The new look of the Arcanist set is very very nice.Simular pattern to the Magister set but has alot more detail and much better colors.With some wicked pattern on it.Anyway, GL to you future mages who go for this.It's worth all the trouble

The Netherwind set does have nice set bonuses, but as an arc/fire mage running MC all the time....

I like both sets, and wouldn't mind having either of them completed, one thing I did notice though, is that the crit% gets more of an increase with this set. The netherwind has more damage bonuses, but from looking at it, those benefits all about balance out, the final set bonus for this set makes me really happy though, and it is why I would want this set for end-gaming as the game unfolds more and more. I use arcane subtlety, with the set bonus from this, my chance to aggro in an instance becomes almost negligeable. It would be a total of 55% less threat generated from my spells. Let me help make sense of this for anyone. When spamming missiles each shot does 200-600+ dmg in MC depending on resistance CoE and crit or not, yet the mob would read this as 90-270+. Given the second lag in cast to perform action, and the chance that mobs to resist this translates to about 300+ dps that the mob reads as 135+ dps. This means that my stamina only needs to carry me from mob AoE effect damage, cause that mob will never notice that I am quickly helping to take him down. The WARRIOR that is tanking will appear to the mob to be doing more damage effectively, and I will NEVER AGGRO. This set is beautiful and that set bonus is sick if used in conjunction with Arcane Subtlety.

Is it just me or is this robe not even in the same league with archmage and volatile power. It seems maybe a slight bit better than the robe that Ras drops, but that's it. Maybe I'm missing something...

Good set really. I like the way it looks when its full. i saw a few Screenies of it and it's sweet. Easy to get from what i've read but try to get netherwind...thats alotta BWL runs and a Ragnaros kill; possily 10 runs but onyxia shouldnt be that hard...if ur guild is good at killing bosses. Love the set/how it looks/and how easy it is.

His staff is not Anathema, can't tell you what it is, but Anathema is brown / gold color and that staff is clearly grey, but it IS possible that the shot was taken from a model viewer

EDIT : i've never seen the benedication, and known it was that, it could be that, but i know it's not Anathema in Anathema form...

Something seems deeply wrong about the picture allakhazam has up for this thing at the moment. it seems to be an undead wearing the robe. A mage only robe. He also seems to be holding a Anathema. Priest only staff.

The stamina on this set is absolutely dismal. But everything else is really good and the set bonuses are fantastic, so I think if you could balance out the crappy stamina with high sta rings, neck piece, staff, cloak, whatever, then it would be a good set to wear.
