The flowers are tiny and on ledges above ground for the most part. It makes for challenging "flying". And you have to watch out for the Apex Proto Dragons (if not elite, pretty high on HP).
If you can see the yellow minimap dot and can't find it, zoom in. I did this during rolling disconnects and crashes, so hopefully it'll be easier once the game is more stable.
Sometimes I was able to grab a flower and not aggro a big drake...

So far the worst quest of DF, wrong coordinates show up, the whole area is marked but there are 5 static locations. Cancer quest.

For those struggling to find the quest objectives.

Blizzard wants us to use their stupid Systemflight mount for this quest. You need to do so to get upon the mountain or whatever where the quest objects are. They are NOT at ground level. (Your regular mount will not fly for some reason or other.)

Unfortunately, the one on the far east is difficult to get to, even with a dragon mount.

The flower next to Grod the Ancient had me pissed. Grod never went anywhere and sat on their ass the whole time. I kept /reloading hoping more flowers would show on my mini-map cuz I had 4/5 and sat on the ledge farthest from them staring really hard so they'd move... didn't work. Oh, I died couple of times fighting over my weight-class and DPS talents and so that didn't work either. Finally tried dash, grab and jump, that worked. As an Envoker I used Wing Buffet to push them back grabbed the flower and jumped and that worked.

Got the one by Grod "pretty easy" by using the dragonriding talent Dragonrider's Initiative (the disorient) then using Goblin Glider/Windscale Rider to get out of there.

Pretty dumb to have to do it this way for a side quest though

These flowers are "high up" and not on the ground level. If you're at a location and cant find them - look up and see if there is a ledge above you.

Most were easy enough. For Grod I was able to use my pets to engage him, and then pick the flower even though I was in combat. Once done I dived over the edge and use a Goblin Glider to land safely.

For the other Elite I was able to easily get near the flower and pick it without getting agro. Just come in from the other side.

Weird quest, I don't understand the purpose from a design perspective. A lot of the flowers are right next to Elite dragons, not sure why?

This quest has gotten absolutely terrible now. There's some bug where the flowers don't show up on the mini map after awhile. So you spend your time trying to fly around on this dragon mount, waiting for vigor, trying to look while it goes too fast, etc. Really annoying!

In addition to having to fight Grod, I had the misfortune of apparently colliding in mid-air with a level 70 juvenile proto-drake while trying to land on a little ledge. I was half-dead before I realized what had happened. Was not expecting all that drama over a few flowers. I'm only level 65 right now.

I don't bother fighting them. Keep trying to loot it and you will, then run. Worked for me. I'm a mage, so I did slow falls off the sides.

I present You Storyline Brave Researchers. This Storyline is part of Sojourner of the Waking Shores which is criteria for Loremaster of the Dragon Isles.

Quests in order I done:

1a. Behavior Analysis "Homework" - Interact with 3 Sleeping Whelp: /way 42.53 79.37 /way 42.35 82.59 /way 43.52 84.97. Then Report back to questgiver using all conversation options.
1b. Scientific Meat-thod - Slay Pudgy Riverbeast until loot Extra-Delicious Riverbeast Meat, drop rat is around 10-20%.
3. Secret Research - Wait few sec. and press on Explorer's Crate wait 10-15 sec then speak with Iyali then wait another few sec.
4. Identifying the Source - Slay Trakhan 44.53 80.54
5. Bring In the Expert - Collect 5 Sunlight Flower they are monitor by Eltie with almost 1M HP xD You need flying to get to them. Use Fear or stun to pick up ( or wait xD ) and run xD. Location:
/way 43.08 79.44 Over ground
/way 43.46 82.99 Over ground
/way 42.06 77.58 Over ground
/way 40.53 80.02 Over ground
/way 38.67 82.33 Over ground
6. Theory in Practice - press on Injured Proto-Whelpling then speak with Tyrgon and give him a name ( Bob) after that storyline will finish.

This is honestly poor quest design, since one of the Sunlight Flowers is parked next to an elite-level mob (Grod the Ancient). He has an attack that deals heavy DoT damage, so good luck for the less hardy dps like Mages. For a "regular" quest with standard rewards, it shouldn't force people to group up.

As a Rogue, I died a couple of times trying to solo him until I gave up and discovered that Sap worked.

By accident, I just figured out how to deal with the one next to the Elite Dragon without fighting.
The following item can be found at /way 43.2 79.0:

Enormous Explorer's Hat

Throw it at the elite Dragon (important: The target may not be in combat!) and you are free to get the last flower.

What a colossal waste. After searching forever for these, the final one is by a 1 million hit point dragon. All i could do was jump off the cliff. :-(

Horrible quest design. Obviously made by either an idiot that doesn't understand gaming, OR some elitist who makes things impossibly difficult and then claims it is easy.

Not sure why this quest should be a problem. Players should have the basic intellect to divine an unknown item that may or may not spawn or even be there is the solution to dealing with the elite dragon. Being forced to visit Wowhead constantly to figure out so many obfuscated quests is a huge show of disdain for its player base. The object in question is barely mentioned on wowhead with no location available.

Description

Did Iyali say how long this creature has been suffering? If it's too injured to eat, we need to treat it quickly. Normally a Dragonscale Expedition camp would have everything I need to help this whelp, but getting supplies to the "frontier" here on the Dragon Isles has proven tricky. There have been significant delays in our supply routes. But, fear not. The land itself will provide! If you bring me Sunlight Flowers, I can craft a soothing balm that will calm the drake so I can heal it.
