It is important to note, that most of the Gnomish devices, even though can't be made by a Gobblin Engineer, can still be used by you, if you choose Gobblin. The same is true the other way.

Take a look at the Gnomish devices, there are very few that are Bind on Pickup. Whereas, Gobblin has quite a few that are.

I have a question. I need some advice on how to level up Engineering when you are nearing 375(like 358, my current level). Engineering is a very easy profession to level throughout the game, I became an engineer at level 51 and my engineering made it to 300 before I reached level 56(yes, this did require quite a bit of money). At level 67 my engineering skill is 358. But thats the thing, my engineering skill has moved very slowly since I got around level 345 or so. I picked up the skill to allow it to go above 300 as soon as I hit 58, and my skill was around 345 by the time I hit level 62. Thats when I hit "the wall." Ya, I made myself a Goblin Rocket Launcher( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=23836 ) at 350. I started making Frost Grenades( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=32413 ) and before that I was making The Bigger Ones (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=23826 ). Now at 358 Frost Grenades are green and give about a level every 7 stacks, not to mention the Primal Water( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=21885 ) it takes to make them seems a bit ridiculous for something that takes so many of them just to level up once. I can make the Tankatronic Goggles( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=32473 ), but yet I can't(I know that makes alot of sense). It takes 1 Primal Nether, and I don't believe it is very easy to obtain those if you are not level 70. Even if I could, the Primal Nether isn't all it takes, and it is pretty expensive to make considering it would only raise me one level. Ya, I can make things Like Felsteel Stabilizers( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=23787 ), Hardened Adamantite Tubes( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=23785 ), and Khorium Power Cores( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=23786 ), those are all yellow to me and 4/5 times upon making one I will gain a level, but again those are a bit steep considering they will only gain me one level, and that their only purpose is to act as a mat for other items. The only other item left that the trainer can teach me how to make is a Gyro-Balanced Khorium Destroyer( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=32756 ) at 375, which I would like to know how to make by the time I hit 70 for money making purposes. What is a good and reasonable way of leveling up engineering at this point in the game? And if there is no reasonable way, what is the best way? How would you personally do it? Any advice you can give would be much appreciated, I'm starting to get a bit irritated.

Can you make the Gnomish Deathray and switch over to Goblin to seek the Rocket Launcher and still be able to use the Deathray?

Is it possible to lvl engineering with gnomish to craft the bop gnome items then redo engineering and spec goblin so u can use the goblin engineering items later?

i.e. have the gnomish death ray and goblin rocket launcher

BEGIN SPECIALIZATION QUEST (200 Skill Required To Start)

Tinkerwiz in Ratchet (63, 36)

SPECIALIZATION QUEST
I suggest making sure you have the appropriate materials to complete the quest before you go to the npc. It will save a trip.

GNOME HORDE
Gnome Trainer: Oglethorpe Obnoticus in Booty Bay (28, 76)
Quest: Show Your Work (6x Mithril Tube, 2x Advanced Target Dummy & 1x Accurate Scope)

GNOME ALLIANCE
Gnome Trainer: Tinkmaster Overspark in Ironforge (Roams Around Tinkertown)
Quest: Show Your Work (6x Mithril Tube, 2x Advanced Target Dummy & 1x Accurate Scope)

GOBLIN HORDE AND ALLIANCE
Goblin Trainer: Nixx Sprocketspring in Gadgetzan (52, 27)

RENEWING YOUR SPECIALIZATION
Your membership card will last for 14 days of played time. You can renew your card at the specialization npc for 2 gold. Whenever you renew your card, you will receive a gift in the mail 24 hours later. If you are trying for the rare pet schematic, you may destroy and renew your card over and over to receive tons of gifts in the mail. I suggest 25 times (50 gold). If you don’t get the schematic then repeat the process until you do.

SWITCHING YOUR SPECIALIZATION
You CANNOT just switch to the other specialization.
You will need to DROP ENGINEERING in order to re-specialize.
So the instructions are below.

1. Make sure you have made whatever items you want to have.
2. DROP ENGINEERING.
3. Level Engineering back up to 225.
4. Go to Narain Soothfancy’s place in Tanaris. (65, 19)
5. Inspect the Book “Soothsaying for Dummies”.
6. Select which Specialization you would like to be.

Gnomish Death Ray (Highest skill level item of this list - 240)

If you are switching specializations, you do not need to do the specialization quests over again. Well at least, from dropping Gnomish and switching to Goblin, I do not even get offered the quest "Show Your Work" https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/quest=3639 from Nixx Sprocketspring. I have done "Show Your Work" for the gnomes, but not for the goblins. I assume one or the other works for both specs.

lol... and I had all the explosives ready for turn in. Oh well, I guess I'll just blow up some allaince instead. :)

You also need to be at least level 30 along with the 200 skill to start the quests for engineering specializations.

The mounts are non-specialized (so no).

Schematic: Mekgineer's Chopper requires exalted with Alliance Vanguard; Mekgineer's Chopper itself is effectively BoE, alliance only, does not require engineering, and requires 150 riding skill.
Schematic: Mechano-hog requires exalted with Horde Expedition; Mechano-hog itself is effectively BoE, horde only, does not require engineering, and requires 150 riding skill.
Engineering: Flying Machine requires 350 skill, is not faction specific and does not require engineering specialization; it creates a BoP Flying Machine Control which requires 350 engineering, level 70, and 225 riding skill.
Engineering: Turbo-Charged Flying Machine requires 375 skill, is not faction specific and does not require engineering specialization; it creates a BoP Flying Machine Control which requires 375 engineering, level 70, and 300 riding skill.

So, I just became a Goblin Engineer, received no mail, or membership card from the trainer, trained 6 new recipes right away. Did I miss where they removed the membership card, or what? Also note that in my spell book it just says "Goblin Engineer" there is no timer or anything on it.

I have a question.
When you unlearn engineering to re-learn spec you have to level it from 1 to 450 again or you get 450 back when you choose spec from Narain book?

HOW TO UNLEARN YOUR CURRENT ENGINEERING ~~SPECIALIZATION~~
To Unlearn this you have to go to Tanaris which is located at the very bottom of Kalimdor.
Now, head to Tanaris, and when you are in Tanaris then go to these cordinates: 65, 18.
Theres should be a book that can unlearn your current specialization. But, however you have to pay
a 150G fee...

EDIT: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DELETE YOUR CURRENT ENGINEERING, YOU WILL JUST LOSE
THE RECIPES FROM GNOMISH- OR GOBLIN ENGINEERING.

yeah currently i am 415 engineering but i didnt bother learning the specializations cause i just wanted to power level my engineering for the enchants now that i go back the engineers in SW IF and they dont give me the quest. Can anyone help me? I wanna pick up the goblin engineering specialization

There's a lot of confusion about this currently. There are basically four types of items that can be made by engineers:

BoE items that can be used by any engineer and traded.
BoP items that can be crafted by a specific specialization, but used by any engineer
Items that require a specific specialization to use.
BoP items that can be crafted by an engineer, but can be used even after engineering is dropped

Goblin Engineering allows you to craft these items:

If your intent is to switch to Gnomish after crafting all the goodies (by dropping and re-leveling Engineering), you should probably craft all of these items, but you must craft 地精采矿头盔, 地精炸弹箱, 地精龙枪, and 炸弹宠物 (these are Bind on Pickup) or you will lose access to these items permanently (unless you drop and re-level Goblin Engineering again.)

NOTE: I recommend you go Gnomish first because most items crafted by Goblin are consumable, whereas Gnomish is toys and trinkets that can be used after you switch. If you do Goblin first, you'll not be able to craft some of the most powerful explosives in the game for yourself and need to buy them regularly if you want to use them.
